    I personally have both. I found some really good 25acp. In my experience with the .25 you need round nose bullets. The bullet doesn’t go fast enough to expand with a hollow point. I love my 25 it’s very old like 1925 . Yet always fires had to file and fit til it was perfect.
    My 22 is a Naa wheel gun. They do what I need. I’m not looking for a stop a charging bear. I want a get off me and rethink your life choices. Plus a 22 in the pocket is better then a 44 in a drawer. An it’s better then a cus word and a rock. 😊

      I re shot the 25 on the same end as the 22 off camera with about the same result. I figured just the little amount of diameter increase was keeping it from getting as deep in the wood. In the 5 gallon jug comparison they had identical performance. Both went all the way through the jug and was stopped by the time shirt on the off side. To me the downside of 25acp is that ammo makers don't spend any R&D to improve it.

      @573reviews  Год назад

      I was concerned about the knot so I shot low enough to be in soft wood. I believe in hard media the 22 being slightly smaller is why it will penetrate just a bit deeper. The 25 seems to leave a bit more wound because it's slightly larger. I'm going to do more comparison but if I have to depend on either the 25 is my choice. Being center fire gives me a little more confidence on it going bang. Thanks for the comment.

  • @danyservant1212
    @danyservant1212 Год назад +2

    The wood fibers are densier where you shot the 25acp because of the knot. that could explain the difference in penetration.

    • @573reviews
      @573reviews  Год назад

      I shot again off camera with the same results in the same end of board. Weird thing is with the cardboard in front the 22 always penetrated more but when shot directly into the wood without passing through anything first the penetration was identical. I think the 25 starts to tumble before the 22 and that's why with a barrier before the board it penetrated less but without it did the same. I wouldn't say one was absolutely better performance wise. Only cost and availability separate them. Thank you for the comment.

      I've got to agree with that assessment. Being centerfire is definitely a plus for the 25. Cost is the greatest plus for the 22 and availability. I'm leaning more to the 22 pocket pistols even though I really have a soft spot for the 25acp.

    • @573reviews
      @573reviews  Год назад +3

      Someone else had commented about that, so I went back and shot again on the same end of the board with the 22 still going in a little deeper. In wood, I think the 22's slightly smaller diameter is what allows it to penetrate just a hair deeper. The strange thing is I shot some ammo cans later and the 25 went through the side of the ammo can every time while the 22 only made it through 50% of the time. I really think the 2 are too close to have a definite winner, but it's fun trying to find out. Thank you for commenting.

    I've seen and done many tests with both the 22LR and 25ACP and found that there are times when 1 will outpenetrate the other but overall they are extremely close in penetration. The big difference (as you metioned) is the centerfire vs rimfire priming. Centerfire is just more reliable. The 2nd item is overall reliability. Most high quality 25 ACP guns like the Beretta 950, Baby Browning, etc. will eat any 25 ACP you feed it very reliably. This cannot be said for most defensive 22LR pistols. Most small defensive 22LR pistols will have loads that work very well and also those that it just won't function reliably

      The barrels are nearly identical. The pt22 having an open slide just gives the appearance of looking a tad longer. A lot of people shared your opinion so we did several more test. Turns out it can go either way. The other test were all back and forth with one seeming to have an advantage then the next test the other would pull ahead. The only 2 certain things we came away with is 25acp has more reliable ignition being centerfire and 22 LR is cheaper. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    The raven is best weapon made...for shooting yourself in your junk! The fire as well with safety on as well as off. I found out my mom was carying one and i swapped her my grendel p10380 and gave the raven to an asshole that owed me money.

    • @573reviews

      The raven should be carried with an empty chamber. It's faster to rack the slide on it than engage that tiny safety. I'd wager the raven is just as reliable as the little kel tecs when shooting on the range. As far as $50 pistols go, it's best one I've come across. Lol

      @@573reviews there was finally a class action suit against them due to the safeties being useless. One of my best friends in high-school had a cop dad. Always had his Jennings 22 stuck in his pants above his junk. I told him so many times he'd shoot his junk off. Walking thru dfw airport behind him when I hear a muffled bang as he slumps over groaning. I leaned in and said I told you! So how do you wanna play this? He gritted and we went to the bathroom. He didn't want his mom dad (shep and midge) or John Tracey or his wife to know so It would be our secret. Lucky me. Well he took both pieces to get worked on , that's as detailed as I'm getting one he doesn't Cary any more , not sure which that is to be honest. He still walks like John Wayne since that day. Ahh good times.

      @David Reynolds I would never carry a raven with one in the pipe. For one the sliding safety is basically a dull razor blade. Another reason is I don't think the safety is internally strong. But a lot of folks carry on an empty chamber with even modern firearms. With that said, I'd rather have a raven than a sharp stick and a harsh word.

      I agree to a certain extent. The CCI stingers, mini mags and velocitors have been 100% so far. That said I would trust the 25acp ammo to go bang over any rimfire.
