    Been made to do this by work for the last year, you wouldn’t believe how many council houses electrics trip on the loop impedance test 👍. We get audited loads too 😀

    • @rickroger3654
      @rickroger3654 2 года назад +1

      Well being a council house that should get tested every five years by an electrician but as being a gas engineer you have to go in there every year they will get you to test everything, it’s part of the tenancy agreements allowing for an annual service of the boiler so why are you there test the electric, smoke alarm, co alarm, check the loft lagging etc

    Thanks for the video and time put in Allen. Great that your showing this, should be incorporated into the ACS, there has been plenty of times over the years where I have had a back feed to the boiler.

    I use the socket and see, I put a clear insulation mat over the pcb when testing where necessary. To be extra safe.
    Some of the baxi’s had built in socket and see point.

    Nothing else just money making.. next year every Gas Engineer has to be level 3 Sparky as well... Proving Unit starts at 110£, and loads of sparky not even ever use and not required just recommending. Love your video you are absolutely amazing engineer please don't misunderstand I mean loads of bullshit it that safe isolation procedure. Anyway to protect my ass I just done I level 3 Domestic Electrical Installer course for 1300 over 9 weeks, so thats cover every engineer ass if you do the right way, but again all about money money money... 👍👍👍 Also I do not like that socket and see thing... trust always Megger or Fluke or Kewtech.. All the best 👍👍

      Thank you so much for the feedback. We do not have a choice as it’s part of the ACS now.

    • @Михаиллеви
      @Михаиллеви 2 года назад +1

      You can get self proving testers now for under £50. TIS 851. Problem solved. You don't need to do earth fault loop impedance for isolation. Safe isolation is checking the power has been isolated. You do not need to check the earth path to the sub station to isolate. If you didn't safe isolate it might be handy to know as it could indicate whether you live or die !

    So as Gas engineers we check the electrics as well as Gas so do electricians test the gas as well as the electrics?

  • @mgbroadsterJ

    It looks like boiler services are going up in price .
    Does proverbs have to be tested or checked by a professional on a yearly basis .

    Thanks for your video Allen.I currently use my Multi Meter for safe isolation .
    Why do I need to use extra equipment for this purpose ?
    Also I just completed CCN1 Reassesment but they never mentioned Safe Isolation Procedures.
    Anyway thanks again for your video it’s certainly a worthwhile topic.

    • @AllenHart999
      @AllenHart999  3 года назад

      I can only tell you what TB118 says. We have a new video coming soon though and that shows a different way. Thats with a Multi Meter. Thanks

    • @Михаиллеви
      @Михаиллеви 2 года назад

      The electricians guidance for isolation testing devices is GS38 which is free to download. Outside of this document it is said that Multimeters have lots of settings so they are not suitable as it may accidentally be switched to the wrong one.

    A. You forgot to tell us the price of the text equipment.
    B. As you spend half the video rubbing your hands is it best we don't know.
    C. What text equipment do I need before operating my dishwasher or washing machine.
    D. Is there a piece of test equipment to measure the static from my dog rubbing it's arse across a man made fabric carpet?

    Where in TB 118 is the as operative instructed to perform a 'safety toch test' or an earth loop impedance test or a polarity test - the ONLY 'procedure' derined in TB 118 is the Safe Isolation procedure ! This video does nothing more than add to the confusion within the industry because TB 118 is ill-conceived, misguided, misworded, inaccurate and contains an unforgivably dangerous bunch of words - it should be no more than 2 pages long and explain what is in the title of the TB - a SAFE ISOLATION PROCEDURE ! The objective is simple - prove the test gear good, isolate the appliance, prove the appliance is dead and then perform a confidence test of the equipment to prove it is still good. Th edocument has opened the flood gates for test gear manufacturers to sell kit for checks that are NOT required to keep the gas operative safe ....

  • @sidwainhouse
    @sidwainhouse 3 года назад +2

    Overly complex and a sales pitch.
    If you look at HSE GS38 and HSG85 these will tell you what the requirements are for safe isolation and Best Practice Guide 2 will tell you how to do it.
    And no point testing for dead if you don't lock the circuit off. Only takes a moment of distraction and a nosey customer to turn the supply back on when you're working on it.

      If you can only isolate at the consumer unit then you must lock off. He didn't have to as he could remove the fuse which is correct. If it was plugged in then remove the fuse from the plug.
