    I bought a 2021ram1500 classic tradesman quad cab 4x4 v6 with lots of extras towing pkg 3.55 gears ⚙️ it tows my 3,000 lb boat just fine you don't need the gas guzzling hemi v8

  • @brianr5665
    @brianr5665 Год назад +24

    Seems like a very capable pickup truck. Not everyone is going to need the power of a Hemi and it can tow a good sized camper with all your gear with no issues. Better gas mileage and proven performance and durability. Seems like this would be perfect for 85% of people looking for a new truck. I think I wouldn't rule it out as a new purchase. I have a 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan with the 3.6l pentastar and it is absolutely amazing. It does what it should and it has been reliable and can tow UpTo 3300 lbs. I used to hate minivans, but the necessity made it an easy choice. So, yep... V6 for me in my next truck as I just don't need to haul 8000lbs and would benefit from the added fuel economy, especially in today's market.

    Just purchased a 22 big horn with the v6 e torque. I was originally going to look at a 2020 warlock but I saw this one at my local Kia dealership for $30k 1 owner w/23k miles. Test drove it and seemed like it’ll fit my needs. The 8 speed transmission is smooth and acceleration is there. I work 2 miles from home, I will tow but like 1-2 a year mostly carry on the bed. I think the v6 is capable and a good bang for the buck. I averaged 24mpg on my first day with it highway. So far I love it.
    Again I needed a truck. Short commute and it’ll be great for my Lowe’s/Home Depot runs lol (traded in my beloved 2020 Kia forte lxs)

      I have a 3.6 Warlock with a 3.55 rear end, and it will get 20-21 mpg on the hwy easily, average closer to 18. Pretty good for 33" AT's factory lift and the Rebel front bumper (no chin spoiler). Acceleration is adequate, but the lack of low end torque can be annoying when I'm working thru a rough slow trail. Hard to modulate the gas smoothly.

  • @WVFreebyrd
    @WVFreebyrd Год назад +2

    I bought this truck back in December, 2022. I have a daily commute of 94 miles (47 miles each way). I had previously owned a Dodge Durango (16 years, 262,000 miles) so I was familiar with Dodge products. For what it is, it is a good truck. I'm actually averaging right at 22 miles per gallon (I'm calculating it, not the truck's computer) which you can't complain about (74 of those 94 miles are interstate). I have one steep mountain to climb and it does "OK" but you do have to give it some gas and get it to shift down to about 5th or 6th gear to get it to climb with any speed. The one thing that was an unpleasant surprise was the truck did not come with voice recognition/commands. I thought it was a problem with the truck. Took it back to the dealer and my head unit was not equipped with voice recognition even though all the buttons and microphone are in the truck. The window sticker even said it had it. But upon taking it back to the dealer he pointed out the very last item on the window sticker was a line item labeled "connected services credit" where they reduce the sticker price by $250. That accounts for the fact the head unit was not equipped for voice recognition, an apparent victim of the chip shortage. So, if that is important to you, you might want to keep an eye out for that item on your sticker if you look to buy the truck. Good truck, it will serve my needs for a few years until I retire.

    My last two trucks have had the Hemi and it’s a great engine but before that I had 4 RAMS with the V6 and the V-6 was a very nice engine plenty of power for my needs anyway and the gas mileage for the V6 is from 3 to 5 mpg better than the hemi.. Also the hemi is a $2400 upcharge over the standard V6.. I do haul hay with my truck and for that the V-6 is plenty capable but…… It’s no beautiful hemi lol…

    My 2014 Ram 1500 with the hemi is great for passing people on a two lane who don’t drive the speed limit on a clear day. Pass them with ease and the engine barely broke a sweat. Need it for towing my TT as well. But obviously the v6 fits the need for many buyers. Great to have options

    I went from a 06 Hemi to a 16 2500 cummins. Once I didn’t need a truck for towing, I went to a 2019 Pentastar and I regretted it. Only got the epa estimate when doing 65 or under on flat ground and the truck would constantly downshift from 8th to 7th, even on the slightest incline and you could hear it. When going through a neighborhood at 25ish, the rpms were so low it felt like it was going to stall. I loved the truck, just not the engine. I got rid of the truck to cut my losses and save some money since my son got his license. I’m now living with a car until I can save enough for another truck. 2016 Passat with the 1.8 and while not a barn burner, so much better than that 6. Hopefully one more year and I’ll be back in a truck….

      I just spent a month with a '22 1500 V6 eTorque and it's the worst feeling powertrain I've ever driven. The motor's got punch when you're unloaded, I'll give it that, but the transmission really feels like crap, and the throttle is hands-down the worst feeling one I've ever used. I poked around under the hood just to see what the 3.6 had going on, and the motor layout had me cringing at the thought of even basic spark plug or gasket replacements. All in all, I've never been happier to give a rental back, and wouldn't even think of owning one unless it was basically free.

Where is the 25 mpg it stated on the sticker. 8th gear rpm's is a bit higher than my old 2013 ram 1500 3.6 tradesman truck. The take off power is not there and the rpm's in take off are sometimes up to 4 rpm's. old truck was better on hwy. miles. Went on a 500 mile trip loaded with camping gear and coolers (no towing) and 3 riders going up on the highway got 20.5 mpg and coming back 21.5 mpg. The first 3 gears consume a lot of gas maybe average 8 mpg on take off very high rpm's, not a good upgrade from the 2013 engine honestly.

    All I can say is the oil filter housing will probaly leak and some point hopefully around 90 k so u can get the plugs changed too either way you’ll shell out around a $1000 bucks to fix it ..careful u don’t tighten filter too tight but the seals that connect to block will probaly leak anyhow .. very poor setup

    It's not the motors it's everything else that's the problem V6 V8 it don't matter it's still a Dodge. I don't know if you own a Dodge or not if you did you would be aware of how inconvenient the whole experiences just driving the truck into town. I can name so many things I'm just going to name a couple that bother the shit out of me and everyone else that I have talked to. All Dodge trucks 2016 and up their infotainment system sucks. All of them are so glitchy expect a delay up to 6 seconds trying to change volume muting volume and skipping tracks. The whole infotainment system is buggy at best. If you have seats other than cloth they are the most uncomfortable seats in any truck you will find that even have seats with air conditioning built in and then things are like sitting on a goddamn Rock. The dome light without the truck running was only stay on for like maybe 1 minute before it keeps turning off you have to have the truck actually on acc for the light to stay on any length of time. If your headlight goes out you simply can't just take it out and replace the bulb it's a sealed unit a new headlight is $2,000. If you do construction work where you are traveling on roads that are not DOT ready yet and are doing things like I did like installing fiber optics there's no sense in having a seat belt on when you're having to install 70 faults in a housing development. You're calling jumping in and out of the truck and you are constantly bombarded by a five ping dinging letting you know that your seatbelt is not on. On some trucks it will never stop. If you have a cell phone that you don't want to connect through the radio with a USB cable and just charge your phone you can't because the truck will force your phone into going into Android auto and there's no other way to turn it off other than taking away its permissions and then you won't be able to use it in Bluetooth mode either. Some trucks have a knob that looks almost identical to a volume knob and is literally placed right next to the volume knob it's just bigger I do not like this let's say you run out of gas especially in today's day and age with the gas prices you can't just simply turn the key and turn the knob and put it in neutral it will be locked and you will not be able to push yourself off the side of the road I have went through this situation this is the most dumbest thing I've ever seen. Well I could keep going on and on but I think if you're reading at this point you get the gist. All of newer Dodge vehicles suck and it's not necessarily the engines the engines are actually fairly nice the problems that people have with the engines are people that do retuning and modifications if you leave them alone I really believe you could get up words of over a million miles if he took care of them. It said that I really believe that the people that have built the interiors of these trucks are fashionistas instead of thinking about functionality they're thinking totally about fashion and the looks of something well you know what sexy to me its functionality I'm at the point now to every time I sit inside of a new Dodge truck I cringe every corner I look I can see bullshit.
    Sorry I was using voice to text and we all know Google voice to text sucks too.
