- Who's excited for the upcoming Netflix live action adaptation of the legendary Nickelodeon animation Avatar: The Last Airbender. This show was such a huge part of our lives growing up and is up there as one of our favorite shows of all time. We're so excited to see beloved characters like Aang (played by Gordon Cormier), Katara (played by Kiawentiio), Sokka (played by Ian Ousley), Prince Zuko (played by Dallas Liu), Azula (played by Elizabeth Yu) and Uncle Iroh (played by Paul Sun-Hyung Lee) brought to life in live action!

I guess now you know how One Piece fans felt watching that first season. Its amazing seeing your favourite childhood animated series being brought to life.
Personally I think this looks thousands of times better than the one piece live action not to say that it's not good it's just surprising how much better this live action adaptation of avatar looks compared to one pieces
@@matthewflores4183I think it’s the fact that the avatar live action uses a lot of dark contrast to look more realistic whereas OPLA tried going for more cartoony lighting
@@rochan9017 One Piece in general is way more cartoony from the character designs to the powers, like... your main character can stretch his body, and you got characters with horns for no apparent reason. Avatar is more "grounded in reality", the characters have realistic designs and the powers they use are just elements so nothing looks out of the ordinary.

All 8 episodes drop on February 22 and this only covers Book 1. They have some new material integrated into the story like Azula and Ozai

I am assuming the episodes will be 1 hour long, so it should cover a lot. I don’t think book 1 is completed though, they didn’t show anything from north tribe in trailer as well.
@@CoronaryTenWe know the titles for all 8 episodes, and it seems like they will get to the end of Book 1 by the live action finale. Hello Future Me has a great video breaking down how this adaptation could shake out episode by episode - i HIHGLY recommend it!!
@@CoronaryTen It's all of Book 1. Master Pakku, Chief Arnook, and Yue were all cast. The first shot of the trailer is from the siege of the North, Katara and Zuko fighting was in the North as well.
No, they focus only on book 1 stuff, with the only known thing from other two books are Azula and Ozai (by that I mean fully shown Ozai). Actually, in book 1 gaang travels through Earth Kingdom a lot. Kyoshi Island, Jet’s hideout, Hei Bai’s forest, Pohuai stronghold (the one from Blue Spirit), Bumi was introduced in book 1 too and he was in Omashu whitch is in Earth Kingdom. Actually most of book 1 takes place in Earth Kingdom before they finally reach Water Tribe. It's called ,,Water" only because that's the element Aang learns during season 1 (and because his goal for this book is to find a master of waterbending).
Can't wait to see Azula's blue fire in action. 🙌🏽💯🔥 Or her lightning bending. ⚡
They are hiding the blue fire for some reason. I bet it's gonna be glorious. Remember there is no Azula in Book 1 Water of the original show.

It seems they are mainly adopting Book 1. The earth kingdom town we see is Bumi's, which is in book 1.

IDK Aang didnt enter in the Avatar form on the ground till the second season... so they will take some creative liberties, but I still hope for a three season run =(

They're only doing season 1. Theres also more total runtime in the live action than in season 1 of ATLA so things shouldn't feel rushed, especially if they're cutting out unimportant things. They also want to use some of that extra runtime to develop characters like Azula and Ozai a little more which is why they're here when in the animated version they show up in season 2 and 3.
Are they going be doing later seasons? I hope they don't rush the show into one season.

The only way they wouldn't be doing a second season is if every episode gets 0/5 on IMDB, 0% on RT and low viewership. Which, let's be honest. It ain't happening. Reviews will at the very least be average. And viewership will be mindblowing.

They’re hinting at future seasons by introducing Ozai and Azul early.

The gang actually goes to the earth kingdom territory in book 1. Kiyoshi island, the great devide, omashu, etc. They even got to the fire nation in cresent moon island. Maybe u forgot because they weren't the destination for book 1.
Also there're no scenes in this trailer from outside of book 1. If there are toph should be with them already in the trailer. Well azula and her gang are the exeption here.
Despite the production controversies, this looks much better than I was expecting.

Original creators of the anime show were involved in the beginning but left due to creative differences. I wonder what those were since this seems very faithful to the source material 🤷🏻♂️🤔

actually at least 2 of the original voice actors from the original series are going to be in the live action series, its just that one of them will be in a different role. Daniel Dae Kim was the original voice actor for General Fong, but is in the Live action as Firelord Ozai (he was also Hiroshi Sato in Korra). And James Sie does return as the Cabbage Merchant. so you will get to see and hear that imfamous line in live action lol. oh little put together fact, Daniel Dae Kim and James Sie are the ONLY cast members to have been in all 3 versions (airbender, korra, and live action)

Last Airbender and Arcane are my two favorite animated shows of all time also
I literally cried. It looked so good. 😂 Afterwards, I was like why? Because the bending looks so good and not some after effect when doing a full routine. And the music literally took me over the edge. Lol
I feel you about the tears. I literally started crying while I was washing the trailer as soon as they start playing the new version of the song which sounds so similar
Its 8, 1 hr long, episodes covering only season 1. But they will make some changes to include characters that really don't have scenes till later seasons like azula and kyoshi.
I got teary-eyed watching this honest God. This is 6 years in the making and waiting.
They are not *really* covering as much as you mistakenly think. They do go to Omashu in Book/season 1.
They probably added a bit of Azula to underline how much of a menace she is and keep people hooked for Season 2 and they show the face of Ozai, because it doesn't work very well to keep the face of a very prominent actor hidden for such a long time.
Outside of that they seem to show the original destruction of the air temple, which is a great addition IMO.
I have seen nothing that points to going much further than the animated shows season 1.
In the first season, they also do show the scene of Zuko in the Agni Kai against Ozai. Albeit, they never show his face, just his backlit outline as he walks towards Zuko, and we get a hint of his menacing voice("You WILL learn respect"). That doesn't really translate over as well to camera work & lighting, so I'm happy they're doing their own interpretation of that scene.
Showing the destruction of the air temple is one of the scenes I think should have been included in the original when Roku was explaining Sozin's Comet to show just how much more powerful it made the firebenders.
I'm pretty sure they're only doing the first book. They are showing some characters early, such as the Firelord and Azula. But I'm excited that they don't seem to be cutting out any of the minor characters of the show. We see Bumi, Jet, June, and Hei Bai. Appa looks amazing! Momo looks great! The bending isn't over the top martial arts moves to move a single pebble. It's clean and clear moves and strikes. The shot of Bumi shooting those discs of earth during his fight with Aang looks incredible!
Pronunciation alone already had me hooked. The cast and effects are already good. This seems more faithful than that travesty of a movie we don’t talk about. I can’t wait. Hope it’s not rushed and hopefully maybe add things that weren’t in the original, references would be awesome, cameos from the original cast would be hilarious to see. I’m excited
A lot of people are worried about things like the run time covering everything but think about this if they do 8 eps at around 50mins each thats pretty much the full run time of book 1 at around 20 eps at 20mins each.

Jaby In this video, you named Arcane as one of your favorite shows. Since I recall you reacting to it with the other guy (I forgot his name) but he talked too much, I didn't watch those vids for that reason, but if Steph and Achara haven't seen Arcane yet, I'd love to see their reactions to season one before season two premieres this year.
The 4th season in comics cover the following stuff:
1) troubles and conflicts of decolonising earth kingdoms from fire nation rule
2) search for zuko's mom
3) spirit world conflicts and a new world order.
The first season is all about book 1. However, for the sake of the story, some elements from later on may be introduced earlier. For example... to tell Zuko's banishment story, they will have to introduce Azula, whose formal introduction is at the beginning of book 2. And, if they introduce Azula, they will also introduce Ty Lee and Mai. And, if they will show the airbenders genocide at the beginning, they will show us Fire Lord Sozin (and you can see him in the trailer).
I hope they don't introduce azula until the end credits scene at the end of the season. They will definitely be giving Ozai some extra screen time though
I'm looking forward to this, I love this show. I get emotional every time I hear the music.

The avatar cartoon was so freaking good I saw it three times back to back before I could finally move on to something else. The only show I ever watched that got me so absolutely hooked. This netflix series seems to do it justice :D

They didn't go to the Earth kingdom of Ba Sing Se in Book 1, They went to the Kingdom of Omashu you can see Aang gliding and following Teo (the crippled kid in a flying wheelchair), and the Earth bender that Aang is fighting is Bumi.

That was mainly Book 1. They already went to Omashu on episode 5 then met Haru on episode 6.
The ATLA live action series looks great. The visuals are amazing & the designs of costumes, bending, environment etc are really accurate to the original animated series. I am excited & looking forward to this!

Don't forget that they visit Omashu in season 1, & the Fire Nation stuff might just be a fleshing out of Zuko's backstory from The Storm.

When I saw the link to the video i was like the movie is years old why are they watching the teaser and trailer? Im glad I clicked. The L.A.B was one of my fav shows growing up.
In germany we got most of the original voice actors from the animated show back for the real life action series. First time watching the trailer was like „wait a minute… the voice… is this 😀“. Canˋt wait to see it. Waiting for season 2 with Toph and the fight in Ba Sing Se will be painful.

Nothing was shown that wasnt in the first season. Many seem to forget that they've visted earth villages and cities in the first season.
Though I'll give you original scenes are shown due to the firelord and azul being introduced very early.

You guys are confused. They went to Omashu in the Earth Kingdom in season 1. That's where they ran into Bumi. Remember, they had to go from the Southern Water Tribe all the way to the Northern Water Tribe so they stopped in every Kingdom on the way, essentially.

I think the voice actor for the cabbage man reprised his role as the cabbage man in the live action series as well.
The story was finished in 3 seasons. Aprox 24 hours. That was perfection. It had nothing to do with any movie. The show was just over. The story was told. And it was told, like I said, to perfection.

ATLA is my childhood so when that forbidden movie was made, I was so hurt about it. I got skeptical when netflix wants to make the live action series but from the teaser and trailer I guess I can hope for a good experience. I also got teary eyed and emotional watching it especially when they dropped the banger music. I guess this is how one piece fans felt then 😊

They are doing book 1 with a little extra azula content. The earth kingdom seen is omashu, which is from eoisode 3 of book 1
The Earth Kingdom is one of the earliest places we visit actually.

5:51 the get to the Earth kingdom pretty quickly. They have to go through it to get to the Northern Water Tribe.
Bryan and Mike (the creators) confirmed that they had always planned 3 seasons, there never was a 4th. It wouldn't make sense for the structure if there were. They've taken inspiration from Star Wars. Book 1 with the heroes winning a major victory. Book 2 with the "Fire Nation/Empire Striking back" almost killing our hero, and Book 3 with the hero defeating the "Emperor/Firelord" thus ending the war, wrapping everything up. A 4th season would be like a season long fanservice Epilogue (since the big threat has already been taken care of)
