Was everything, the structure, the interior, in such a good condition when you purchased? Or did you inherit? Where exactly are you located?
My mistake. I should have known to read further in the comments to see if you answered my questions.The door to the water level of the moat is located in the basement dining room (used by the 'House staff'. You are in Belgium. It is a family property, passed down from generation to generation on my mothers side. Did you grow up in the building?

I used to have a maison secondaire in Chateauneuf la foret in the Limousin for 10 years and I am a complete francophile. Les clés c’était la pire idée! 😂 c’est mignon. C’est vraiment magnifique. La salle de bain qui donne sur la Chapelle, très original. Je retiens cette adresse AirBnB, j’en suis adepte. Bruges est une très belle ville que j’ai eu le bonheur de visiter partiellement lors d’un déplacement professionnel. Merci pour le partage.

I'd pay for a gofundme of this castle's restoration & hiring servants & getting horses & carriages just like in 1200s-1800s. It'd be so lovely to see how life must have been at that time. It must be so hard for this family to take care of this castle alone without help.

Exquisite castle and home! However, I was truly enchanted by your Epagneul Breton and clearly brilliant children. So darling! I am so enchanted with this culture, I pray to be able to visit one day soon. I also own Brittany Spaniel dogs, they are the best breed I have met so far.

How come you are French speaking when the castle is situated in Flanders?

Yes, I wondered too: Why does the kitchen have access to the water outside? Were the kitchen deliveries and servants entrance via the water?
Maybe I'll have to do another video on the servants access, next to the main entreance, there is a tower, this tower is another spriral staircase, same as the one in the video. House staff could enter the castle trough the front tower, go down in the basement or up in the attic. I'll try to film more in details next time ;-)
@@ChateautenBerghe Those hand pumps in the kitchen. When they were working would they have drawn water from the moat? Was the door at the same level as the kitchen also to access water from the moat for the kitchen? I suppose they could have different water sources for drinking and then a source for everything else.
Some rainwater from the gutters go into a tank in the kitchen, when the pumps in the kitchen worked, you could pump water from that water tank.

i recall a tour you gave to S Jarvis down in the lowest rooms/cellars. It was amazing.
The faucets and washing troughs were so great to see. It is wonderful, you have kept the intrinsic integrity, at least for the present. Your home & watching you, Monsieur Amaury, doing repairs and watching your precious kids romp around in the Castle with you is so refreshing & genuine. Its my job to regulate the height of the moat. In the last 7 years the basement has never been flooded because of the moat.
