Great idea! To use the ball detent try clamping the ratchet head in a vise and drilling some divots for the ball bearing. My Craftsman Professional flex head is set up like that. It has three divots.
I actually have that 18 in matco ratchet you're talking about! I bought it with a student discount for 120 and that's still too much money. It's my baby, and I use it all the time, but if i need another one for any reason, this is what I'm doing.

Ya I installed the spring and ball and it stays in place. So I will probably mark it and drill some divits
Thank you

I made these but I used the head off of the cheap Pittsburgh multi flex ratchet. Works good and is super cheap.
Now I’m curious if this will work with the regular 18” breaker bar
I've broke that breaker bar doing a lug nut lol I don't use the replacement much anymore. This is a cool idea
Thanks for the video. The multi flex ratchet has the detent so it holds it's position .
Thanks for the info!
1st!
3/8 doing lug nuts, no wonder it broke
It does say breaker bar on the label,,,So a 85lb lug nut should not be a problem
@DUMPTHETRUCK that's torqued, sometimes rust makes them harder than that to get off. Or tire fighters have at it with an impact. Good luck with it.
