For super specific sub classes like this I always think how fun it would be to make an NPC who has these abilities. A DM would be able to make such an interesting and powerful NPC in an environment crafted around them. Also imagine the absolute Raid boss a 20th level City Druid would make with unlimited wild shapes in an environment crafted around them. You could have the big bad of a campaign in a city of permanent shifting walls, ceilings and gravity playing tricks on the party and throwing them into traps.
Wow, controlling the battlefield just got another meaning. Add your summoning spells on top of that. In a right campaign this is going to be so much fun. Pair this druid with the "Arachnoid stalker" (or whatever it was called) rogue and have fun driving your DM crazy. Thanks a lot for the video guys
The city bender druid. Or the “Inception” druid XD. As the feats were Passing by I could totally see a city bard based on the same ideas. Using bardic inspiration instead of wildshape. A Igree with my friend below. It looks and feels a lot like a NPC class. Lots of roleplay inside a specific scenario. And the laws of physics going BOOM can and will create a lot of paradoxes. Like shooting someone above you could give disadvantage. But if gravity is reversed then the arrow is getting faster instead of loosing speed…
Honestly this so much reminds me of David Bowies the Labyrinth 1986 film given the idea of a character who can choose to either save the day set traps or just Force a party into making a deal
I feel like somebody who pitched this was watching Harry Potter and saw the scene with the magic alley and was like, "you know what, I want to make a d&d character who can do all this." lmao
I'm somehow reminded of a character in The Tick animated series: Sewer Urchin. He was based on Dustin Hoffman's character in Rain Man, and he was pretty nerdy, awkward, and inept above ground, but when they had an adventure underground (in the sewers), he was utterly skilled, confident, and heroic. Setting is everything... 😎
This does sound like it can be a very fun and challenging subclass to use, but I think it would be good to multi class into something to help you when your not in a town or city, or even a ruin.
I'm working on a Circle Of The Moon Druid that is going take a 3 level dip into Barbarian for the Bear Totem. One of the really interesting bits about him is. His background is a Street Urchin. Whoever does one of the Circle of the City Druids should really consider that background.
I definitely thought this was gonna have to do with rats, birds, and other urban animals 😂 In my opinion, the coolest parts were the reskins and passwall. I was disappointed but I’m sure it’ll be fun to play
I just thought of multi-classing this with either The Mastermind rogue or the inquisitive rogue and have that character the leader of that small City or large city
So basically this subclass makes you an earth bender from Avatar. But on a serious note, is it just me, or do most of the abilities also affect your allies? If so, a difficult subclass to use in a party.
The Urban Arcana is one I'm already doing for my dreams druid, and they wear metal medium armor This city druid should allow for profiency in heavy armor ^^'' City Shifting Druid Wild Shape is really cool
I really like this concept, but I don’t like it’s features. It feels like it’s city themed flavor on a circle of earth frame. I feel like a city Druid should deal with the tiny bits of nature within a city like rats and gardens.
Right but using the regular alotted druid abilities you can still do that!! For example the ability to communicate or grow plants, transform into sewer vermin, control water for sewage pipes, druidcraft to make weeds grow through the cobblestone etc
this feels like a DM NPC subclass for do to how it made it works well for a NPC a party can meat like a boss of a group think how cool that is for they think that's a rogue or fighter hell for the DM's out there just think how the players react if they was chasing down a group of thefts and the next thing they know there are on the ceiling or the walls and street start moving in there way or the lord of the city is a City Druid and when he says "i control this city" he/she meant it litraly.
A fun city druid idea for ppl who get bored of playing one char endlessly (If party and dm are cool with it) You are a city druid, and you gain your powers and lifeforce from a certain city. If you leave the city, you become weakened and ill and eventually could even die. When the party is in the city, they go to you immediately as a member of that chosen family, or maybe as you are connected to their organization etc. etc. whatever reasoning you decide for grouping up in the city Outside of the city, the party has another adventuring liaion that will often join them on adventures. In the city, there would be some explanation why they never join. Maybe they are even unable to enter the city for whatever reason. I have no clue what the logistics of this would be but it makes up for how utter trash this class is in the wilderness
I have a lot of complain for this subclass but, fortunately, I've came up with a little suggestion for you that can remove all my complain and conserving the good of it. - Take this all subclass, and uproot it from the Druid class himself; - bring it faaaaaaaaaaaar away as humanly possible from the Druid class, because it have nothing remotely druidic in it; - substitute the Wild Shape cost of the ability, with 2 use per short or long rest; - Implant this subclass in the Artificer class, which makes A LOT more sense; - Call him "the Architect" or "the Master Builder" or something like that. Tell me what you think of it.

Just gonna steal this idea real quick...
*me as a DM begins writting all of this down immediately*
I was thinking this about the first part but that second part is so cool!! You need to make this campaign
Yes I thought about multiclass in this with the Mastermind rogue or inquisitive rogue

Spiderman and Sandman on the same team... 🤔🙂

I got notified of this video _after_ watching it.
Damn I love druids. Always quick to click on a subclass review with you guys and this one was even faster.

There was a superhero with this power set in the authority. This is a truly interesting set of features.
This subclass brings a whole new meaning to walls have ears, love it, would fit well with any rogue
I’ve been playing a wildfire reskinned as an urban. Really wish I knew about this one before!
City Druid
For the Druid who takes concrete jungle a bit too seriously
i could see this being a super cool subclass to play in a campaign taking place in a modern day setting.
Does city shape replace wild shape or is it just an additional way to use your wild shape?
This is very helpful, since I wanted to play druid but I don't think I'll be going into woods much in my Dragon Heist campaign
This does sound like it can be a very fun and challenging subclass to use, but I think it would be good to multi class into something to help you when your not in a town or city, or even a ruin.
Love this series! would be fun to hear your take on the Living Weapon Monk from Exploring Eberron.
This totally sounds like a mob boss subclasses
Sounds very niche but it could be very fun the right setting

Hmmm I kind of want to play this as a Warforged or a Autognome. Cool.

This just screams fun. And a bottle of aspirin for the dm
Circle of City Druids in Urban environments: “I’M THE DM NOW!”
This would be wild in Waterdeep or Drakkenheim. But it might work with stone walls or pillars in a dungeon. Or maybe wooden ship mayhem..
I just thought of multi-classing this with either The Mastermind rogue or the inquisitive rogue and have that character the leader of that small City or large city
This subclass reminds me of the early days of industrialisation in England, will be great if you want to play a jack the ripper character
I'll be mixing this with inquisitive Rogue and the Actor feature
So basically this subclass makes you an earth bender from Avatar. But on a serious note, is it just me, or do most of the abilities also affect your allies? If so, a difficult subclass to use in a party.

The magneto of druids.
The fact that I have a druid NPC in the game I dm and he is known as the druid of the people. This would be fun
that would be cool for an artificer
The Urban Arcana is one I'm already doing for my dreams druid, and they wear metal medium armor
This city druid should allow for profiency in heavy armor ^^''
City Shifting Druid Wild Shape is really cool
So wait. Is Valda's available for purchase? Are you working off of a PDF or Do people have hard back copies already?
The wall whisperer
Seems Luke this could be used in most crypts and dungeons as well
David Bowe Labyrinth
This could be great in a steampunk campaign. And, to me, it screams Warforged.
Aw hype!
This subclass screams Harry Potter to me. Making walls open up to reveal secret tunnel ways to escape or chase after NPCs.
Would it be fair to deceive the Wild Shape Walls as a “Gears of War” battleground?
I really like this concept, but I don’t like it’s features. It feels like it’s city themed flavor on a circle of earth frame.

Lets goooooooooooo
kool vid
If only this was a thing when Kugrash was scurrying through the streets 😔
I normally don't like Druids. At all.
...But this Homebrew subclass could maybe make me re-consider my opinion.
S**t… i was working on this concept (I am the fantastic emporium). Well. I have backup
This gave me Fullmetal Alchemist vibes
A nightmare for those who draw the map along the way in marker suerfaces.
👍🏻
I really want to like this video but it's at 69.
I have a lot of complain for this subclass but, fortunately, I've came up with a little suggestion for you that can remove all my complain and conserving the good of it.
