I just finished a campaign where I played a moon druid. My DM allowed me to gain the ability to cast spiritual weapon In my animal format As soon as I opened level 2 spell slots. I'm not just a direwolf, I am a direwolf that's also mentally controlling a giant flying stick.
Its good to drive a cantrip to the limit. But I guess you can brew this class without the druid, you know? Wildshape being used just to heal tastes a bit sour. You could at least allow some specific wildshape that enhances the druid, like spore circle do. Like a muscular growth such as bane poison or a bark armor boulder armor or sand armor that allows different perks depending on the choice. Since circle of bones druid no other new druids made me go for ir. Thanks for showing us this subclass guys! Keep up the good work.
Hey guys! Love your work. Life has been crazy so I haven't been able to comment as much recently. I agree with the ratings. I like the take on being a shillelagh master. However, I was left a little disappointed. I am playing a COS druid by request of my DM. I feel COS is a bit weak. However, it is, IMO, a much better melee druid option compared to this one. I think tweaking this would be needed to get a player to choose this over another druid class or another Gish option.
I have wanted to try a campaign with spellswords characters (spell users that are also good at weapon combat) with this and titan heart sorcerer that will come true. Thanks for bringing this up.
This sounds like the Bladesinger or the Eldritch Knight version for Druids. Druids already have a lot of options, so i guess they didn't want to overload, especially since Druid is already one of the most complete and rounded Classes in the Game.
@@locusofintent nope. Unless specified by subclass or homebrew/house rules, druids aren't able to use weapons, armor, or sheilds that are based in metal, as it's seen as unnatural and interferes with the nature magic that they use.
@@locusofintent seriously? I think I might have assumed it since it would make sense. If that's the case, then I gave my Skeleton Circle of Spores Druid a stone scythe for no reason!

I like the flavor of this subclass. Being able to melee as a full caster is always fun.

A melee, magic casting druid that seems fun? yes
Recast shillelagh get an attack in at 10th level, attack twice next turn.
Shillelagh is a BA action tho so it doesn't trigger War Druid
The art made me think this subclass would allow a druid to use longswords and other metal based weapons
Can't they already do that?

@@Clayton_Stewart on Dnd Beyond I can see the part about armor and shields, but I don't see where it restricts weapons.

@Clayton Stewart A stone scythe sounds awesome!
I admit it doesn't make any sense. A metal sword is fine but a metal hat is a sin?
Oh well.
I like it sounds fun if your not into the whole wild shape druid like me
What would be a good race for this class
This is what the spore druid should have been. A true gish that can mix it up decently in melee.
The 1st Druid Circle that cannot be broken
Probably, I dunno
Yall are missing a very important thing with this. It works on every weapon, so it works with Sharpshooter and Great Weapon Master.
Still feels very mediocre even with those options.
Bonk druid
👍🏻
It's a subclass. Thats about all there is to say. Feels underwhelming.
Especially compared to his other stuff.
