I don't think Halle was being disrespectful but we also have to understand when exactly did she watch the show she might've seen the show when eartha was playing her and probably didn't know about Julie or Lee and I'm sure she's seen the movie with Michelle a blk catwoman meant alot to blk girls and women like Halle coz at that time you'd never seen a blk person in a lead villain or villanese role in a superhero show or movie in the 60's

So first, she didn't choose the right words to express that idea. Eartha Kitt didn't create the character. Berry could have said: The character that inspired me, the character who I looked up to, the character that represented me, and so forth. I know that there weren't many black characters playing prominent roles in the olden days. But Eartha Kitt was part of a legacy built by other actresses, that can't be overlooked,
Second, as a professional actress, she must've done some digging and get to know the character she is playing. Catwoman had been created long ago before Eartha Kitt got to played her.
Too bad this movie was bad but good.😢
