      Everyone's brain chemistry is different, and those who society has chosen to be addicts typically have suffered from some non-pain related trauma like abuse in childhood or even mental health issues like ADHD, etc. and they unnaturally lack the dopamine needed to stimulate their endogenous reward systems. People who have normal lives get enough dopamine from food, sex, exercise, going for a drive, etc, that they don't need to substitute for opioids or other drugs.

    Dr. Ken, I was on OxyContin and oxycodone for a number of years because of bulging and herniated disc‘s, bone spurs and the nerve root, chronic carpal tunnel in both hands and a torn rotator cuff. After so long, I grew weary of taking these drugs, that seemed to do nothing more than mask the pain and discomfort. I sought surgery and thankfully it has alleviated my issues and subsequently I stopped taking all of the prescribed medication‘s nor did I choose any street version either. I am Codeine clean, strictly from willpower. Call me an asshole but I don’t like anything having control over me. If codeine medicines should only be used or recommended for cancer patients, what do you recommend for chronic nerve pain? Keep in mind gabapentin and LYRICA didn’t do the trick but made me loopy!

Just a few years ago I was active, ping pong, long walks, sailing, golf, etc. After getting off all opioids due to the govt and people like you I can sit around and watch tv all day and die faster due to lack of exercise and diet. If you are going to say don't do this , also give a suggestion on what to do to enjoy your last years on the planet.

    While I respect this doctor's opinion and he has other great content, this seems very much like fear-mongering to me. My grandma got lung cancer, was overweight, had asthma and type 2 diabetes. The doctor's gave her two months to live, and got her on a high dose of both oxycontin and oxynorm (fast release oxycodone), PLUS a high dose of oxazepam (benzo) for anxiety and 7.5mg of zopiclone for sleep.
    If you take this man's word for gospel, she would've died within 24 hrs of taking her meds (from OD, respiratory depression, etc). She didn't. She kept fighting, with the help of her meds and the awesome medical staff for over TWO YEARS!
    Before she died, she told me she could have never done it without the meds.
    So, don't take away life-saving medication from upstanding citizens just because junkies take anything they can and shoot it up their veins.
    (And btw, I've been a junkie myself, and taken oxy's many, many times, mainly together with xanax. Got hooked on xanax, never got hooked on oxy's. Who'd have thought??)

    If you have cancer, take whatever you want. Cancer patients should be kept as comfortable as possible, especially if if's terminal.
    This is a very serious topic and a very addictive drug, but I feel that he is fearmongering. He probably wouldn't even give percocet after major surgery, and cases like that are what it is made for. It is not just for cancer pain.

    • @matovicmmilan
      @matovicmmilan 2 года назад +1

      I agree with you, there are really painful conditions other than cancer and according to guys like this - those people who suffer from non-cancer pain should be left to suffer???
      For example: MS, Sickle Cell, neuropathic types of pain, spine injuries etc. actually any pain that the patient describes as severe should be treated with no exception.

    • @clintparsons3989
      @clintparsons3989 2 года назад +1

      @@matovicmmilan I had spinal stenosis as a birth defect and herniated a couple of discs in my lumbar spine. Either problem alone is bad, but the two happening at once made me lose feeling in both of my legs. I had to swing my hips like a pirate with two peg legs to walk. I was home bound for a year and had to take a year off from college. As you can imagine, my back was excruciating lol. This was a decade ago, I am fully recovered with some minor neuropathy from nerve damage, but While I was waiting on my surgery I was taking 6-8 Percocet a day, Valium 2-3x a day as a muscle relaxer, and enough lyrica to kill a horse lol. After the surgery I was on all of that stuff PLUS OxyContin 2x a day. Not once did I ever have a problem coming off of it. As I healed I just naturally took less and less until I was off all of it.
      It’s really addictive stuff but the alternative is excruciating misery, and I think it’s less addictive if you’re actually genuinely using it for pain and not just because you like it. The molecules are being used blocking pain signals and not attaching to the receptors that make you feel high,I guess.

    the more I listen to this guy, the more I get the feeling he is a government stooge. All these side effects he's talking about are extreme cases, hardly ever a problem, simply because all the right info is in the drug leaflet! he is trying his absolute hardest to paint a grim picture of a good drug with a excellent therapeutic index, and has helped relieve pains and discomfort more than cause problems. There is no such thing as a perfect drug, all drugs have risks. we'll see what he thinks in 20 years or so when he's got cancer and needs pain relief, see if his opinion changes then. every drug has it's use. that's why it's listed as one of the basic necessities in a modern basic health system.

The day after that I felt pretty weak, even couldn't get out of bed. And here we go again, puking starts. I'll never tske this drug at all, if even I die of pain, I wouldn't take it due to the reason that it gives me grave side effects. A number of people are genetically more susceptible to the negative effects of opioids. They act in different ways in a cascade of neuromodulation, and part of this cascade is histamine release which can make the user feel itchy and unwell. Some people get this symptom more than others. Some people get the nausea symptom, others don't get it at all. Opioids have NEVER made me puke.

    • @jackofalltrades3378
      @jackofalltrades3378 3 месяца назад

      Lies. That simply does not happen when taken as prescribed. Tolerance only builds when dosing frequently. Taking 3x daily creates a mild physical dependence but no addiction and no tolerance build. I've been able to get the same effect of 1-2 oxycodone for pain for the last 6 years. You will NEVER be 100% pain free so only a fool would chase that errand and take opioids to oblivion. The trick is to discipline yourself and only do 3x daily because at 4x daily, the tolerance DOES build. As long as you take as prescribed, you're going to be fine. Stop spreading misinformation. Also, note that pain patients often find themselves taking LESS oxycodone when their physical therapy starts to work and their bodies start to heal. I personally self-tapered oxycodone from 10mg 3x daily down to only 1x daily just because I was motivated to fix my body. GET IT STRAIGHT.

    It actually can help a great deal on a stable dose. This research will never be looked into now.
    Just because something is more potent doesn't mean it lasts longer.
    It's very sad, but Americas opioid problems seem to be more related to the cartels you have in Mexico I think it's a crime that chronic pain patients are now killing themselves because of this opioid epidemic.
    My partner was on it for 20 years and never had a problem they were on 2 80mg tablets a day, and 2 20mg quick release, their dose never changed. Also in France we still use the normal formula without altering the formula. Your country changed it and it was a mistake.

It's their way of feeling better. A judge in my town lost his daughter to addiction and he tried to force the idea of addiction down the throats of people who smoked cannabis, creating a "drug court" that locked people up in the county jail for 1, 2 or even 3 weeks at a time for violating the court in such bizarre ways like "talking back" or "being mean to family". He abused his power as a judge because he was resentful of losing his daughter. He made my friends recreational use of cannabis (which never progressed into addiction) a public spectacle to make himself feel better. TYRANTS.

    Thank you doctor. I got cut in my leg and my primary doctor give me a prescription of oxycontin 30 mg. 60 bills. After I watched your video, I will not take this medicine. Thank you so much doctor for your information.

      omegakushhead it’s getting pretty bad when you can’t get prescriptions anymore for pain and you have to try getting them on RUclips. We all have to suffer due to the addicts on them to get high.

      Moron. People need these drugs to survive. These spineless loser drug addicts ruined if tor everyone and REMEMBER... people were addicted to heroin in the 50's, 60's, 70's long before your hated oxycodone was mainstream. Stop blaming everything else but yourself.

      SHUT UP. You're one of the @$$holes making it difficult for people like me with chronic pain to get relief. If there was ever anyone I wanted to give a whooping to, it would be YOU. Shut the f*ck up and go take some fentanyl by yourself.
