    I took valium everyday for 15 years and never took more than I should and it worked great. My doctor stopped it one day, said it was bad for me, and then eventually I started drinking alcohol for anxiety and now alcoholic. Worst thing that ever happened. BTW antidepressants don't work for anxiety. None of them!

      I've been taking it for maybe 25 years. About a year ago, I upped the dose to 30mg/day because it basically stopped working. I won't go any higher, but I'm not concerned. After being on it for 15 years, at about 20mg/day, I went cold turkey for a couple of weeks to see if I had any withdrawal. I didn't. The most interesting thing this doctor said, related to my case, is that it inhibits short-term memory. I'm 68 and after getting COVID, my S/T memory is horrible. I wondering if upping my dose to 30mg may have contributed to the brain drain. Perhaps I'll back off a bit. It barely does anything anyway after being on it so long. But while it was working, it was a wonder drug for me. My body loved the stuff. Now, it doesn't care.

    I will say one thing in defence of low dose valium... if you have a painful muscle spasm that will not ease...2mg of Valium will help relax the spasm enough for you to get some gentle stretches in and release that muscle properly...It's worked wonders for me one time.

      I had severe chest pain a couple of year ago. When I say severe I mean off the charts pain. Obviously checked for cardiac problems and all was clear but it kept happening every night. Eventually they said it was anxiety which it obviously was not because of the level of pain. Sure enough though I felt better after a 5mg diazepam, I couldn't understand why. A few months later I asked a doctor about these episodes. He thought this might have been esophagus spasms. I'll never be without diazepam for as long as I live.

    I have been taking 10mg once with breakfast daily for a while. Since Sept. 1969. I have never taken more than that although I do drink to access. 9 oz of rum daily spread over three measured drinks starting at 4:00pm. to about 1:00am. I started the drug because of brain fog. I have tried cutting back but anything less than 10mg brings on debilitating brain fog again. I seem to have no other health problems. Normal blood pressure, no problems with any other body parts or blood tests. I can function totally normally with the two drugs. No one is aware of my drug abuse. I cannot function without it. I play piano well, dance, travel, and live a normal life in spite of my two addictions. Only my wife knows. My doctor thinks I am a non drinker. All is well otherwise. I keep waiting for bad results to show up. When it does I will decide what to do then.

    Precise, exhaustive, very clear. Thank you very much doctor. - My mother always took diazepam. This drug destroyed my family of origin. - Only now I understood why. - Personally I don't take any medicine continuously. - I have a specific criticism of the entire medical profession who has prescribed this drug excessively lightly. - No one in the past was aware of the serious consequences. - I advise people to actively seek information on any medicine taken for a long time.

But I prefer Valium over other benzodiazepines. Which is weird these days, most people like Xanax more. They are both effective medications. Klonopin is the most addictive benzo in my opinion. I don't know what it does to the brain but it changes my entire personality and my way of looking at the world. Valium is a much safer drug in my opinion and much easier to taper off of. When I'm on Valium I can't even tell that I'm on it. It just simply takes the edge off slightly. I would definitely switch to Valium asap and try your best to wean yourself off it (following a manual or a doctor's supervision). It's almost impossible to taper off of Klonopin in my opinion. I know that both drugs are benzodiazepines, but the effects from the two drugs are completely different in my opinion. In my opinion, Klonopin is even more addictive than Xanax which says a lot.

    In other words, Diazepam will take the edge off your anxiety and there's a very small chance it might do about 175 other things you'd rather it didn't.... if you're very unlucky, or crazily sensitive. I've taken diazepam whilst taking a massive variety of ADs etc without any effect other than a welcome calming. I'm not going to go 12 rounds with Dr Freak ... but geez can it possibly produce so many potential effects?

    Diazepam is the only thing that helps my anxiety and panic attacks sadly no doctor will prescribe it in the uk and I've been countless amount of times in last 2 years, they just guinea pig me on a new anti depressant I've already been through 8 different ones & beta blockers that dont help me atall and just make me worse.. also tried cbt with no help atall. I wish they would just listen to me and give me what I know helps me. They just say oh no they are addictive they wont help you even though I know they do.

    • @markcotton3481
      @markcotton3481 4 года назад +4

      I thought the same. I took it upon myself to procure my own supply and I was right for about 4 months, because I felt a lot better for that amount of time. After that, the drug became less effective but by then I was dependent. It took me about 3 years to be in a position to be able to start the withdrawal process. That 3 years was rubbish beyond belief. The 18 months it took to taper off has been harrowing at times and completely disabling. I'm about to find out what it's like to withdraw completely. Fun!
      It's not the silver bullet you think it is. Not in the long run. Try vaporizing CBD hemp weed. I found it recently and it helped my withdrawal anxiety symptoms. It seems to help normal anxiety symptoms. It's legal to buy in the UK, just not very common. hempelf.com is one site you can buy it from but there are more. You might find that you can drop the other psych meds too. It's heartbreaking to hear how many drugs people are cycled through. That's a cause of anxiety symptoms in and of itself, yanking your brain chemistry all over the place.

They say it's addictive but everything is... you just have to take it not more than a few times a week. I have been socially isolated for years, homebound but it's the only cure to help me get out. I'll take the risks because the crippling anxiety and not be able to have a life will kill me in the end anyway.

    How do you remove Diazepam build up from the system?

    • @fishermc6pack
      @fishermc6pack 3 года назад +2

      I don’t think we can honestly and objectively say what would actually speed up the removal of diazepam stored in the body, like in fat. It really likes fat, so starting with exercise and a really healthy well rounded diet might help. Fasting. Who knows, I sure don’t, but what can objectively be said, is safe and supervised cessation/discontinuation and time will clear the drug from the system.
      @21:20 ~”if you take a certain drug that stimulates the drug (diazepam) metabolizing enzymes 3a4... it’s going to speed the bodies ability to metabolize the diazepam.” This is mostly speaking about its effect on efficacy during the duration of action, but it may be a start 🤷🏻‍♂️
