I’ve been on Xanax for 7 years now, been the same dose and it literally changed my life for the better. I have panic attacks all day constantly, when I started Xanax it made me feel like a normal person, I’m able to get out of my house, go to store, hangout with my friends again. You guys just push the worst part of the drug because there are to many people with addictive personality.. you make people who actually need it feel like there losers.

I think the biggest risk factor for addiction and dependence is having a severe panic disorder. People who feel normal will be very disappointed as this drug is not euphoric. It simply dampens down the fight or flight response, which is what makes it so appealing to panic and anxiety sufferers!

Xanax has a very short half life and if you are having panic attacks all day long I’m wondering how many times per day you are taking them. You’re not a coward, you are a human being with mental health issues. A longer acting medication like Klonapin lasts all day with some kind of help to calm fears. “A coward”? For those of you who say that, all I can say is to walk in a person’s shoes before you judge

I had to detox from long term(15 years) of klonazepam use on my own. The VA hospital would not give me a bed. At the time there was only a single website with information on detoxing from benzos. There were a few message boards, all with the theme, "I'm going to smoke so much weed during those 2 weeks." Later I found out that I could have died from a seizure during my detox. It's important to spread awareness, especially when you consider what happened with opiates. Medical school were teaching doctors how to prescribe opiates, then(for some unknown reason, wink) they stopped.

At this point, after so many years, it is highly likely that Xanax is *causing* the very ailments for which you started taking it! In fact, things like panic and terror may be greatly intensified...
Does your psychiatrist plan to safely taper you off of Xanax? Because surely your doctor knows that cutting you off abruptly or too quickly can be life-threatening?
Yes, you could switch to Klonopin because of its longer half-life, and this may ease any withdrawal you're experiencing between doses. Because of its longer half-life, Klonopin is also easier to taper...
And tapering completely off should be a serious consideration for you. You will most likely continue building tolerance to the benzo, and you'll need even higher doses for relief. You aren't addicted...you've developed tolerance.
Familiarize yourself and your doctor with The Ashton Manual for safe tapering guidelines. You can also contact Dr. Josef Witt-Doerring on RUclips for help.

BEWARE OF DAILY USE: As a person who was misprescribed 3mg of daily clonazepam for over 18yrs (I had adrenal insufficiency so my doctors didn't want to put my body through withdrawal), I want to say that the warnings in this video did not feel sufficient. You did say take it for the shortest time possible, but you simultaneously made me feel like you think it's okay to take 2x/day if I feel like it's helping my debilitating anxiety. The problem is that benzodiazepines have not been evaluated for efficacy beyond 4 weeks anywhere and have been shown to worsen anxiety beyond 4wks. Taking them daily will lead to tolerance, which you did mention, but even if one doesn't increase their dose the tolerance means neuro-adaptions which means risk for severe cognitive degradation. I went from a 4.0GPA computer science graduate to being disabled by memory and cognition issues at 40yo only to learn this problem has been understood since the late 70s. Why didn't one of the hundreds of top doctors I saw ever tell me? The pharmaceutical companies, who sadly control much of the continuing education of medical professionals, want everyone to think the biggest risk is from abuse, but it's actually from taking it daily for any length of time beyond 4wks. If I would have seen this video on a 3mg/day regimen I would have thought that's okay as long as I'm not taking 20 pills a day. People need to be scared because their doctors aren't. I respect your channel, but I wish there would have been more of a warning in this video. Because when you can't get off of the drug you're forced to go to Facebook groups (yep, not kidding) where you have to watch thousands and thousands of people all going through years long drug withdrawals just to get some guidance. It's a hell I wish on no one. I am not affiliated, but check out the Alliance for Benzodiazepine Best Practices website: benzoreform.org

I have severe anxiety due to post traumatic stress and have tried so many different meds that my psychiatrist has tried and I'm going to be honest nothing works I don't like the feeling of marijuana even the chewables Etc. But I seem to handle my anxiety along with the Xanax, seeing a therapist for many years now and with the help of my psychiatrist it all seems to form together and helps. I do not have the history of drug addiction I don't drink alcohol except back in my teens years only because I had a father who was an alcoholic ( recovering 28 years prior to his passing) and I've seen the hell and how it destroyed my family so I have stayed away from that. I don't do any type of drugs other than medications for my diabetes and heart problems and the Xanax. I always watch your Channel and I appreciate all that you do for putting information out there for all to learn. I've been a practicing RN for 32 years now and I know I've looked into Johns Hopkins and Hartford journals in reference to Xanax. I keep on top of it myself as well as from my psychiatrist but sometimes I feel like they're trying to push me to get off it and again throughout the past few years I have tried so many different types of meds and again they just don't help me even with my therapist and my psychiatrist. I feel xanax really does help and I would never think to take more than what my psychiatrist tells me and how she tells me so again thank you..

Very effective, according to 9 out of 10 combat veterans. It's available again after a supply chain issue. I found physical activity really reduces my anxiety. Walking 3 miles a day (1 mile after every meal) is good ... 5 miles/day even better. Also, heavy yard work and cleaning, the kind that works up a sweat. For some folks, it might be sports or active dancing. The adrenaline that produces anxiety gets burned off.

A psychiatrist prescribed Xanax for me while I was getting a divorce. I was approximately 25 years old. Well it put me into a tailspin and I felt suicidal. My ex accused me of being a drug addict. I met with the psychiatrist and gave him the rest of the pills. By this point I was angry at my ex for accusing me of being a drug addict when I only took a few pills! That was the end of my ‘drug abuse’ during the divorce. My children were far more important to me than any drug. In any event, we had a custody hearing and after it was over my ex threatened to beat up my lawyer! Needless to say, the judge issued a court order giving me full custody. I really grew up through that experience. In any event about 15 years later my doctor suggested I try Paxil 10 mg. It saved my life! I know today that I was depressed most of my life and I was able to open up like a flower. But you couldn’t get me to try Xanax no way!

I am recoved addict and I quit suboxone 7 months ago and it is the most miserable thing I've ever been through my brain is still trying to get back to normal so I was wondering is it okay to take supplements or will that prolong it and make it worse also I'd like to know if you know anything about suboxone

I had xanax from 1996 to approx 2005 by dr prescription.
I really felt i didnt need it anymore and i read betty ford center article said it was no good so i slowly took myself off. I just shouldve told my dr sooner i was getting off it.
Im fortunate i never had issues from it.

My ex wife took Xanex and it turned her from a beautiful loving, caring person into an absolute monster. She thought she was right about everything. Would never listen to reason from me or her friends and family. She was a completely different person the woman I married and loved for over 30 years. I tried my best to help her but there was no reasoning with her. We finally broke up and her uncontrollable lifestyle caused her death a few short years later. This stuff changes your brain, changes you, and any doctor that prescribes this just want to get rid of you and not have to deal with you. He is letting the meds do the work for him. You take it you will never be the same again!

Let's be clear. A neuropsychologist is not a medical doctor and can not prescribe medications. If you want to discuss about benzodiazepines you should consult a psychiatrist. Every medicine carries risks and benefits and only your doctor can decide if the benefits outweigh its risks.

Spot on. I had very traumatic child hood, started smoking weed at age of 14 also alcohol same time, then when i was 18/19 i started having bad panic attacks and didnt could go to school/public places everything felt unreal like i was dreaming. Then i got indrucuded to xanax by an asshole and i realized i feel "normal" after taking 2mgs with alcohol my very first time. I was instant hooked then 2years later i tried to coldturkey stop and i was 2months without it absolute hell on earth, well i didnt manage to quit it and started abusing it again not just xanax but also other bentzos. And now 6.5years later im still hooked but i have cut my dose to 0.5/1mg a day if needed klonopin. My problem is that i dont wanna go to hospital and get ssri's presciripted cause the ssri's have destroyed almost all people i know and exceplly my mom... so i dont know what to do im only in my mid twenties... i been able to quit every single drug coldturkey except the benzodiazepine... i wish i could get valium somewhere but i dont have scripts for these im taking it "illegally" i dont know what to do...
So basically very bad trauma since 5th age > many years
Trying to escape with weed n alcohol but the weed made me more anxious and stuff.
Then got mixed with wrong crowd and got into other drugs starting from that 2mg of xanax.
And now i dont know what to do anymore 6.5years later after my first xanax, im totally afaird to go to doctors just because i have taken them illegally for such a long time, only once i had a script for 0.25mg xanax in my life... and i had to lie myself to even get that... in my country they just put you onto ssri's and i dont want that at all. Please help me, love you all, god bless ❤
