I had to detox from long term(15 years) of klonazepam use on my own. The VA hospital would not give me a bed. At the time there was only a single website with information on detoxing from benzos. Xanax helps with my Panic Attacks Chronic Anxiety Disorder Agoraphobia and Manic-Bipolar Disorder. My physiatrist told me this month that I will be getting cut off from my two Xanax 1mg a day because of new regulations. I've been on them since I was 16yrs old and in June 2024 I'll be 40 so it's very scary.... Although I would like to try Klonopin because it lasts longer. If anyone has opinions please don't hesitate to comment? Need all the advice I can get ❤ Thank you and please be kind.
@stephaniekalberer8504 At this point, after so many years, it is highly likely that Xanax is *causing* the very ailments for which you started taking it! In fact, things like panic and terror may be greatly intensified... Does your psychiatrist plan to safely taper you off of Xanax? Because surely your doctor knows that cutting you off abruptly or too quickly can be life-threatening? Yes, you could switch to Klonopin because of its longer half-life, and this may ease any withdrawal you're experiencing between doses. Because of its longer half-life, Klonopin is also easier to taper... And tapering completely off should be a serious consideration for you. You will most likely continue building tolerance to the benzo, and you'll need even higher doses for relief. You aren't addicted...you've developed tolerance. I have been on Ativan 3mg daily for over 20 years. Same does, same time every day. I would like to eventually lower my does to 2 mg. But my anxiety and depression is so debilitating at times. I’ve been dealing with us since my 20s, and I am 50 now. I am currently in the process of a medication change, due to a diagnosis of POTS Ugg!!
BEWARE OF DAILY USE: As a person who was misprescribed 3mg of daily clonazepam for over 18yrs (I had adrenal insufficiency so my doctors didn't want to put my body through withdrawal), I want to say that the warnings in this video did not feel sufficient. You did say take it for the shortest time possible, but you simultaneously made me feel like you think it's okay to take 2x/day if I feel like it's helping my debilitating anxiety. The problem is that benzodiazepines have not been evaluated for efficacy beyond 4 weeks anywhere and have been shown to worsen anxiety beyond 4wks. Taking them daily will lead to tolerance, which you did mention, but even if one doesn't increase their dose the tolerance means neuro-adaptions which means risk for severe cognitive degradation. I went from a 4.0GPA computer science graduate to being disabled by memory and cognition issues at 40yo only to learn this problem has been understood since the late 70s. Why didn't one of the hundreds of top doctors I saw ever tell me? The pharmaceutical companies, who sadly control much of the continuing education of medical professionals, want everyone to think the biggest risk is from abuse, but it's actually from taking it daily for any length of time beyond 4wks. If I would have seen this video on a 3mg/day regimen I would have thought that's okay as long as I'm not taking 20 pills a day. People need to be scared because their doctors aren't. I respect your channel, but I wish there would have been more of a warning in this video. Because when you can't get off of the drug you're forced to go to Facebook groups (yep, not kidding) where you have to watch thousands and thousands of people all going through years long drug withdrawals just to get some guidance. It's a hell I wish on no one. I am not affiliated, but check out the Alliance for Benzodiazepine Best Practices website: benzoreform.org

Yes! Daily low dose Methylene Blue 5-10MG has been very effective reversing the effects of Alz/Dementia/Parkinsons. Another very effective substance that stomps down the excitatory effects of Glutamate and Norepinephrine is NAC taken 3 times daily. ** WARNING DO NOT TAKE METHYLENE BLUE IF YOU ARE TAKING ANY SSRI OR SNRI MEDICATIONS, SEROTONIN SYNDROME COULD HAPPEN AND BE VERY DANGEROUS. METHYLENE BLUE IS A MAOI DRUG. ALSO, USE ONLY USP GRADE METHYLENE BLUE, IT MUST BE USP GRADE TO ELIMINATE HEAVY CONTAMINANTS.

I was given my first Xanax just prior to a stereotactic biopsy in the hospital. It made me super anxious and very agitated, why? They gave me a second dose and it made my anxiety and agitation worse. Is this unusual?
Very informative. I like clinical data presented in common-day term. It shows that you are well versed in the subject matter, and are able to communicate it in a way that we who are not, can comprehend said subject matter. Thank You.
Thank you Dr for your explanation of the use of Xanax. Im 50ish and I've been on Xanax for a while. I have severe anxiety due to post traumatic stress and have tried so many different meds that my psychiatrist has tried and I'm going to be honest nothing works I don't like the feeling of marijuana even the chewables Etc. But I seem to handle my anxiety along with the Xanax, seeing a therapist for many years now and with the help of my psychiatrist it all seems to form together and helps. I do not have the history of drug addiction I don't drink alcohol except back in my teens years only because I had a father who was an alcoholic ( recovering 28 years prior to his passing) and I've seen the hell and how it destroyed my family so I have stayed away from that. I don't do any type of drugs other than medications for my diabetes and heart problems and the Xanax. I always watch your Channel and I appreciate all that you do for putting information out there for all to learn. I've been a practicing RN for 32 years now and I know I've looked into Johns Hopkins and Hartford journals in reference to Xanax. I keep on top of it myself as well as from my psychiatrist but sometimes I feel like they're trying to push me to get off it and again throughout the past few years I have tried so many different types of meds and again they just don't help me even with my therapist and my psychiatrist. I feel xanax really does help and I would never think to take more than what my psychiatrist tells me and how she tells me so again thank you..
Have you tried nefazadone? Very effective, according to 9 out of 10 combat veterans. It's available again after a supply chain issue. I found physical activity really reduces my anxiety. Walking 3 miles a day (1 mile after every meal) is good ... 5 miles/day even better. Also, heavy yard work and cleaning, the kind that works up a sweat. For some folks, it might be sports or active dancing. The adrenaline that produces anxiety gets burned off.
I have severe panic attacks that last several days sometimes and then I throw up because the anxiety and panic is so bad and then I have to go to the ER to get fluids and it’s just a never ending cycle and Xanax is the only thing that helps me because it’s the strongest thing there is nothing else that works. I don’t care about the breathing exercises and whatever other stuff I’ve tried it nothing helps. I have deep, deep, horrific trauma that I do not want to talk about on a public platform, my big question is, if not Xanax, what am I supposed to take because it’s the only thing that helps me and then I’m in constant fear that the doctors are going to take it away from me which just leaves me with suicidal thoughts because I have severe trauma, and when I’m panicking it’s truly terrifying. Please help.
Psilocybin mushroom and psychedelics generally are very beneficial substances, and it really helps people with mental health issues, y'all can get them from the handle below.
15 years and i'm up to 8mg a day some days. I hate it SO much. It has made my anxiety worse over the years i think. And now, quitting? Good lord i would have to go to inpatient care i think. It's like there's never a right time to quit. I have PTSD and severe depression, although after 5 months of Ketamine therapy my depression has stayed pretty much gone. However my anxiety still sucks.
@Chad greyman not on IG but couldn't find that on telegram. Im not sure what you're getting at though I don't need MORE xanax lol. I am rx'd it and i want to stop
Really intrigued to hear more about the Xanax/Dementia connection. Would also like to hear more about other drugs that can spur confusion, memory issues, dementia, etc.
Oh big time, I accidentally took a full xanax bar the night before woke up.Took a few Gabba pentans and went to work.Think of nothing of it.I don't remember Much, but I was sent home.Wow this stuff needs to be exercised with caution and tests need to be done on how much you can handle a day and where you go and don't drive stay home when using😊

My 3 worst symptoms being 3 years out free. A lot of different scales of Gut issues, More anxiety activity, dysfunctional vagus nervous system. I'm only surviving through my life & not living it. Is this temporary or permanent. 😢
Hi doctor , might be a very stupid question but really curious and worried 😅- are the effects still as bad and damaging long term if taken 2/3 times a month for a prolonged period - 2/3 years Are they still going to have all the same bad effects you described
A psychiatrist prescribed Xanax for me while I was getting a divorce. I was approximately 25 years old. Well it put me into a tailspin and I felt suicidal. My ex accused me of being a drug addict. I met with the psychiatrist and gave him the rest of the pills. By this point I was angry at my ex for accusing me of being a drug addict when I only took a few pills! That was the end of my ‘drug abuse’ during the divorce. My children were far more important to me than any drug. In any event, we had a custody hearing and after it was over my ex threatened to beat up my lawyer! Needless to say, the judge issued a court order giving me full custody. I really grew up through that experience. In any event about 15 years later my doctor suggested I try Paxil 10 mg. It saved my life! I know today that I was depressed most of my life and I was able to open up like a flower. But you couldn’t get me to try Xanax no way!
I have a question.. I am recoved addict and I quit suboxone 7 months ago and it is the most miserable thing I've ever been through my brain is still trying to get back to normal so I was wondering is it okay to take supplements or will that prolong it and make it worse also I'd like to know if you know anything about suboxone
When I try to get off of them... my muscles start to jerk and spasm, the spasms can manifest from anywhere from my hands, back arms, legs, face it's strange 😮
*Hey I'll refer you to this dude online who guided me through my first ever experience,he got all kinds of psychedelic stuffs and he also ship discreetly to any location**
I had xanax from 1996 to approx 2005 by dr prescription. I really felt i didnt need it anymore and i read betty ford center article said it was no good so i slowly took myself off. I just shouldve told my dr sooner i was getting off it. Im fortunate i never had issues from it.
My ex wife took Xanex and it turned her from a beautiful loving, caring person into an absolute monster. She thought she was right about everything. Would never listen to reason from me or her friends and family. She was a completely different person the woman I married and loved for over 30 years. I tried my best to help her but there was no reasoning with her. We finally broke up and her uncontrollable lifestyle caused her death a few short years later. This stuff changes your brain, changes you, and any doctor that prescribes this just want to get rid of you and not have to deal with you. He is letting the meds do the work for him. You take it you will never be the same again!
Let's be clear. A neuropsychologist is not a medical doctor and can not prescribe medications. If you want to discuss about benzodiazepines you should consult a psychiatrist. Every medicine carries risks and benefits and only your doctor can decide if the benefits outweigh its risks.
I'm using fluvoxamine (2 pills (50 mg) a day) with xanax (1 pill (0.5 mg) before bed) been like this for +2 years now my OCD is gone my GAD is gone my MDD still the same ;(

Spot on. I had very traumatic child hood, started smoking weed at age of 14 also alcohol same time, then when i was 18/19 i started having bad panic attacks and didnt could go to school/public places everything felt unreal like i was dreaming. Then i got indrucuded to xanax by an asshole and i realized i feel "normal" after taking 2mgs with alcohol my very first time. I was instant hooked then 2years later i tried to coldturkey stop and i was 2months without it absolute hell on earth, well i didnt manage to quit it and started abusing it again not just xanax but also other bentzos. And now 6.5years later im still hooked but i have cut my dose to 0.5/1mg a day if needed klonopin. My problem is that i dont wanna go to hospital and get ssri's presciripted cause the ssri's have destroyed almost all people i know and exceplly my mom... so i dont know what to do im only in my mid twenties... i been able to quit every single drug coldturkey except the benzodiazepine... i wish i could get valium somewhere but i dont have scripts for these im taking it "illegally" i dont know what to do... So basically very bad trauma since 5th age > many years Trying to escape with weed n alcohol but the weed made me more anxious and stuff. Then got mixed with wrong crowd and got into other drugs starting from that 2mg of xanax. And now i dont know what to do anymore 6.5years later after my first xanax, im totally afaird to go to doctors just because i have taken them illegally for such a long time, only once i had a script for 0.25mg xanax in my life... and i had to lie myself to even get that... in my country they just put you onto ssri's and i dont want that at all. Please help me, love you all, god bless ❤

Thank you I have been waiting on this video. I have seizures because of Xanax and I'm so scared I'm never going to get off of it and not to many Dr prescribed this medication anymore.
Hello
Praying for you!
@@BrandiBeez thank you. It's so scary having seizures I hate it and I never know when I'm going to be alone and have one and not make it to see another day. It just really sucks.
@@helenfarrell5194 yes?
woah, an addiction is taking 20-30 pills a day! I was feeling bad or taking .5mg in the afternoon at work.
@soniatjames9440why would anyone risk going to prison for anxiety medication, especially when you can literally just ask your doctor for it. The audacity 😂
I take it, but only every once it a while if I really have a bad night. Not on a regular basis. Is that ok?
I was given my first Xanax just prior to a stereotactic biopsy in the hospital. It made me super anxious and very agitated, why? They gave me a second dose and it made my anxiety and agitation worse. Is this unusual?
You need meth. Meth will be helpful for your condition. Lots of meth
I've been prescribed xanax and my panic attacks are waaaay far worse now.
Why would my pcp says psychiatrist only can prescribe it
@jordansmith3721 Because your pcp is lying to you. It as simple as that.

Excellent and informative video.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you. This was very informative.
Really intrigued to hear more about the Xanax/Dementia connection. Would also like to hear more about other drugs that can spur confusion, memory issues, dementia, etc.
Oh big time, I accidentally took a full xanax bar the night before woke up.Took a few Gabba pentans and went to work.Think of nothing of it.I don't remember Much, but I was sent home.Wow this stuff needs to be exercised with caution and tests need to be done on how much you can handle a day and where you go and don't drive stay home when using😊
Nicely done.
11:53 the most helpful; am I getting that to do a little self-assessment before going to bed to decide if taking the dose now is necessary - so there’s less risk of tolerance?
Thank you for the brain help.
My 3 worst symptoms being 3 years out free. A lot of different scales of Gut issues, More anxiety activity, dysfunctional vagus nervous system. I'm only surviving through my life & not living it. Is this temporary or permanent. 😢
look into holistic herbalism please
Hi doctor , might be a very stupid question but really curious and worried 😅- are the effects still as bad and damaging long term if taken 2/3 times a month for a prolonged period - 2/3 years
Are they still going to have all the same bad effects you described
I have used xanax for only ten days and stop it. It's now 2 weeks since i hv stopped. Is there any problem?
When I try to come off them I am mess due to missing my son
When I try to get off of them... my muscles start to jerk and spasm, the spasms can manifest from anywhere from my hands, back arms, legs, face it's strange 😮

This only medicine that works for my anxiety when i felt like my brain gonna explode anytime ..
Did the same to my sister. Terrible drug!

Gracias!!! 👍🙌👏😚
Let's be clear. A neuropsychologist is not a medical doctor and can not prescribe medications. If you want to discuss about benzodiazepines you should consult a psychiatrist. Every medicine carries risks and benefits and only your doctor can decide if the benefits outweigh its risks.
Totally agree.
I'm using fluvoxamine (2 pills (50 mg) a day) with xanax (1 pill (0.5 mg) before bed) been like this for +2 years now
my OCD is gone
my GAD is gone
my MDD still the same ;(
I've also seen more burse practitioners! Nothing takes the place of a psychiatrist.....I use. Clonazapam because of longer half life
My Dr has me on 600 MG of Gabapentin a day and Xanax at night. This is the only way I can sleep.

Not sure why spend time time covering the effect and positive if this drug if the majority of it is negative. These doctors are just confusing their patients and scaring them. Terrible review. It’s like it’s great to relieve your anxieties but terrible for you. Pathtetic.

So basically very bad trauma since 5th age > many years
Trying to escape with weed n alcohol but the weed made me more anxious and stuff.
