Same here. My buddy got one of the HCCA high current amps way back when. I think he was running 3 JL 10 W4’s on it. I still think about that sound system almost 25 years later.

I have an Orion HCCA 11000.1. It definitely sounds better than any of my other amplifiers I have owned. I also have an HCCA 4,000.4 and an HCCA 2000.4. All of them sound amazing!

Yep, you can. I think a lot of of the reason why people don’t believe it is because they don’t change amplifiers back to back and actually do a sound comparison if they did that then they would definitely hear a difference like I do.

Imo Orion really never left the high quality shelf but gave themselves a black eye with the cobalt series. The hcca series both amp and subs 👍 little pricey but you just explained why. Kickazz review ty sir 👍🤞
That's how the JL 13W7 came.... when I got that sub (don't have it anymore) when it frist dropped I about lost my mind seeing it mounted like this. I'm still kicking around the idea of running two of these on their 5k. I'm working directly with them though if I go this route. Excellent video as always!

This is the loudest sub setup I’ve ever felt/heard in my life. A single 15 that felt like an earthquake. Now I’ve never been to audio contests so keep that in mind lol. But I’m sure this is just as impactful and I’ve been eyeing one myself but I’m fine with the current 55lb rs gold v2 weighing down my little bmw for now 😂
i always wanted some orian subs i love how easy they are to rebuild im happy with my 4 wolfram 12s 2000 rms 300 ounce motors sapost to 37 xmay one way if thats true only reason i didnt switch to orion iv see the tinsel leads are small and iv seen them fry the were the spider and burn the spider not sure if they upgraded the tinsel yet im still debating i might try solo x just not sure how the squars sound tho

Looks like a nice sub that magnet looks HUGE must weigh a ton... Very cool they give you a plastic adhesive template thats very helpful.. i do agree the terminals look a bit small dang 2500w RMS 10k peak wtf 141 is not bad not bad at alll

I'm surprised the review came out with it sounding so good. I saw the sub but it's interesting style and I thought it was one of those flashy subs that wouldn't really be very good. What is your impression of it in a direct comparison against the X12?
It actually has a similar sound to a sundown x. It’s a little louder than the X but it’s a little peakier in some frequencies than the x. But it’s very good. When I first tested it it my first impression was it’s like a crazier version of a sundown x. But I think the x has a tiny bit better SQ. But it pretty close both are great and have a similar sound.
Can you please do a recap long form video of all of your previous SPL tests with specs and timestamps: 1) sub X was wired down to whatever ohm and I ran it in a sealed box on Y watts of power. Etc etc. we need a recap vid that puts this all into perspective. As for Orion, it seems overpriced for 141 on 3k watts at $1,400. Maybe it’s just me but you got guys doing 145 with one 12 for half the cost of this. It’s all perspective, I suppose. Great video bud. Thank you for putting in the effort.

Have to ask. Did you run the spl test on the sub using the 5k? I'd like to know if it got louder with the extra watts of a full bridge amp. Also maybe in the future since you do so many videos on subs possibly getting a big amp to fully test a sub? You can buy a taramp 12k or 15k decently. I'd venture to say you could probably get one thrown your way to use in your videos. Maybe a dealer is reading this post and hook you up with something to push a sub to its full potential instead of leaving us wondering just which sub is louder? Does sub A flatten out at 5500 watts or sub B still keep getting louder at 8000 watts. Stuff like this I'd like to know.

I have mixed feelings about Orion sub nowadays, spent 1200 on a Orion spl 15 and cooked it after a week on 5k. Not very musical and only sounded good at high frequencies. I then bought a recone for 500 , reconed the sub and after 6 months ripped the spider so I told myself I would never buy another Orion sub again. Biggest regret ever was buy that sub
What are you talking about? You can literally Google replacement cones in 2 seconds, I stock, from many sources. Also, people abuse subs because they are morons. It's normal at those power levels.

Go to almost any forum.. or look on any local market places you will find these subs needing cones.. Agree with you for sure. I think they were trying to cater to the ultra novice budget crowd with the cobalt series. But yes it did hurt a little.

Nice packaging. My fi audio subs came with a wooden crate inside of a box then a plywood cover to cover the cone.
My HCCA122 came with the box destroyed. Sub was OK but the shipper didn't care. I've been running mine on an XTR 2500.1Dz for couple years.
