    Hi Mitch! Great job! A water table is on my list of projects now that I have a plasma cutter. Thanks for sharing!

      Thanks Martin 😁I am really enjoying it. The plasma cutter is the ticket. Have you noticed that it cuts better when you grind off all the rust and mill scale were you put the ground clamp. Anyway thanks for checking out the video😁👍🚜💨🍳

    Hey MJA - I like Mikes channel too and he's inspired many projects for me. You too bud. A question and a comment about something you might wanna try.
    I notice Mike used a 6" deep steam tray. You used a 4" deep tray. Does that seem deep enough that the last from your plasma torch has NO chance of water getting splashed back on the torch tip? That was my fear with 4" pans? You sure don't want any water to spash onto your torch. Ouch.
    Last I found a great way to collect those chips and shards from the Evolution chop saws and ports band saw tables. Use a magnet inside a plastic bag or latex glove. Pull bag or glove off magnet inside out to dump chips w/o getting them on the magnet. For a more elegant, but more $$, put a mag switch magnet on the bag or rubber glove. Then just turn it on or off.
    I'm very interested in whether your getting any smash back with only 4" deep water pan.

      Great Idea about the magnet 🧲. I have not noticed any difference in how the torch works. I do think a deep pan would be better. But I do most of my cutting outside. I only use the small water table for quick cuts. Thanks for watching and the feedback. 😁👍🚜💨☀️

    Mitch, Thanks for sharing. I had to cut some long pieces of sheet steel, so I went to a Menards and bought a 10 ft. piece of plastic rain gutter, cuz plastic was 1/2 the cost of metal and two caps or ends for the gutter. I only needed about 6 ft., so I cut off 4 ft. Tapped the caps into place and sealed the ends with silicone seal and a caulk gun. Went to bed. The next day I put the 6 footer on my welding table and supported one end that was hanging out with an adjustable roller I have to wood cutting projects. I poured about 1 1/2 in. of water in the gutter and then flipped the 4 ft. piece over, next to 6 ftr. to stabilize the 12 in. width piece I needed to cut down to 8 in. It worked great for a fast solution! Like yourz, it caught virtually all the sparks, etc. It's lite and EZ to store. I'll build a table like yourz in the future, as it makes more sense for smaller projects, but the gutter was an EZ solution to a quick, longer challenge.

    That's a nice little addition to the plasma cutter. Some day I will get a plasma cutter. It's got to really open up the things you can do and the shapes you can cut. That looked like a fun little project. Nice work!

    So after having a chance to use it do you wish the pan was 6in deep or is 4 working fine?

    • @MJADoingStuff
      @MJADoingStuff  Год назад +1

      Morning 6 inches would be better but so far I am happy with the 4 inch just have to clean it out more often. Oh and I am using RV pink antifreeze instead of water seems to help with the rusty metal grit. Hope that helps😁👍

      Thankyou . Honestly any advice will help. Total nube when comes to plasma. I didn't know with the air pressure if would cause blow back with the shallow pan. I probably don't need a table asmuch as I want a project to try out my new toy lol. With my small shop outside is more convenient and bit more elbow room . But I'm sure my lungs will thank you for not breathing all that crap in. Thanks for your help keep up the informative videos and il keep watching them. Enjoy your day!

    OK, so I don't have a plasma cutter, but one thing I've never understood :-
    The piece you're cutting is grounded, and it's resting on your water table which is also made of steel and therefore (presumably) also grounded.
    So why doesn't the water table get destroyed by the plasma cutter?
    Anyone?

    • @MJADoingStuff
      @MJADoingStuff  7 месяцев назад

      It does cut the vertical part near the cut but I believe the air gap between the material helps for a barrier. But I could be mistaken😂👍🚜💨🍳

  • @dash8465
    @dash8465 8 месяцев назад

    Not impressed with this one.. first, go thinner and taller with the vertical flat stock over water, thinner wont interfere with the cuts as much, and they shouldn't be welded in, mount them in a slotted 1x1 square tube welded inside the angle with enough clearance underneath the tube for the tray to slide in/out.

    • @MJADoingStuff
      @MJADoingStuff  8 месяцев назад

      Thanks for your guidance I know what you mean about the flat stock being to thick. I at least only tack welded it 😂I was going for quick and easy. I will try your design on the next one 😁👍🚜💨🍳
