- This is the dead mom reprise from the D.C. version of the show. During this song Lydia is sat on the roof looking at the handbook she cannot open. Also as a little treat I’ve added the scene following the song. I had to make a cut in editing so if the flow is off I apologise. Anyway this is my favourite cut song and probably my favourite cut scene too.

If you're wondering why BJ was singing about a chimney..
He was crawling out of the Chimney as he sang, this was where Lydia was sitting on the roof after she yelled at the Maitlands (this is after "Children we didn't have" where the Maitlands closed the book on her and she snapped at them.) She was holding the book as she sang. This was also after they got rid of Charles and Delia (after Day-O.. This is about 3 songs and a scene or two later.) When Charles and Delia returned with the Soul box and Otho, this is also before "good old fashioned wedding pt.3".

I don't know why, but this song really gets to me- I feel the same pain...I lost my grandmother a few years ago and I honestly felt like that for a while...Still do, but not as often, although it is still a lot.

This has been my favorite Broadway show for a while now it's comforting to me because back in August I also lost my grandma and everyone kept telling me to move on. It still hurts that's she's not here she was my mother figure, she understood, and she was my world. I understand the pain❤️

about a year and a half ago my cousin died. ik it's not the same, but he was the closest thing i ever had to a brother. i feel the pain to this day. when he first died, everyone kept saying it would get easier, but i just wanted to know when. i think for me it doesn't get easier, so i hide the pain, but it's still there constantly. OBC soundtrack is great, but i relate more to DC (especially this song and Lydia's part of No Reason) and i wish they kept more stuff the same

I'm so glad they cut the bird thing...I mean 1. Gross. 2. Define recently when there's a whole eternity ahead of you 3. Didn't he open the book at the beginning of act one to quote something? Or do I not remember that right?
I always took it more like Beetlejuice was lying when he said he couldnt open it, to get out of helping Lydia. But now that he's got this plan and the Maitlands didnt open the book of her as he thought, he has to come up with a way to open while he "cant" so Lydia doesnt realize he was lying.
@@luisomarlagosandrade2298 yes, in the Broadway showing, after the Maitlands close it, she goes to him and he says theres a way to bring her mum back and opens the book up (he is a demon with supernatural powers after all) I always found it funny how Lydia never realised that he could open it all along
