    G'day Charlie love your videos dude and that car looks sweet as, Hyundai/Kia are really doing some great stuff, not a fan of stop/start but that's in any car it's just a stupid gimmick, but I think it's the nicest looking Sorento to date even the interior looks shmick!

      Yes, Excal. I agree with you. They have added few minor updates inside and outside. And with all the safety features added. This seems like very best Sorento ever. Yes, like the color, too. It seems like grey from far way, but it also looks like espresso from certain angle. Thank you.

    Great review, love your channel! As to the diesel engine, I know it’s popular in other countries because of its mpg but thats negated by the fact that here in the US its more expensive than gas. So lots of buyers will not go for that. But overall a great vehicle!

    Asian Petrolhead, another fantastic review! You are first to review this of course. I love the Sorento and feel it is misunderstood in the States because the 3rd row, designed for occasional use is so tight. Also, I miss us having the turbo option here. I own the 2016 SXL-T AWD and my Sorento really puts down the power with more torque than the V6. But still with better fuel mileage.
    Also the Sorento remains Kia’s most luxurious seating in a SUV/CUV because of the extended seat controls over the Telluride. I wish Kia had stuck to their original plan for MY19 and also introduced the Diesel 2.2 to the North American market, but I am a product guy and I understand how difficult that messaging would have been, especially with Telluride launch looming.
    Please tell Kia to bring the classy middle console with the cover for the drink holders to North America.
    I really like the niche you have on RUclips with these launches. Thanks for another amazing and thorough review!

You don't have 2.0Turbo in states? Yes, i want to see how introduction of Telluride effect sales of Sorento. Thank you.,

    • @dalex7777
      @dalex7777 5 лет назад

      Asian Petrolhead Thank you for your reply. Yes you do an amazing job!
      In the States, when the 3rd-Generation Sorento launched the engine options were the 2.4L GDI, 2.0L Turbo GDI and the 3.3L V6 GDI from MY2016 to MY2018. In 2016 the 2.0L Turbo was available in the EX Trim and the SX Limited-Turbo (branded as SXL-T). They dropped the 2.0T in the Limited Trim in 2016 but continued with it being available in the EX Trim through MY2018. In 2019, for the US, Kia dropped both the 2.0T and all 5-seat configurations. Currently all US market Sorento’s are seven-seaters with two engine options the 2.4L GDI and the 3.3L V6 with AWD available for LX and higher trims.

      Yes, i wanted to upload this review before weekend start. So you guys can watch it over the weekend. Glad you like it. I think they don’t sync it. Because they don’t want to interfere sales numbers of each other. So Hyundai and Kia usually launch sister cars with 6 months a part. Just personal thought. Thank you.

    • @sicboi
      @sicboi 5 лет назад

      Asian Petrolhead interesting thought. I guess another consideration might be that perhaps there is a single design team responsible for each modelclass of both Kia and Hyundai products.
      It will be interesting to see how different the market will receive the two new large SUV products in the Telluride and Palisade, such an interesting head to head.

    I would say that Kia should change a few stuff in interior design. Climate control are from Ceed 2013. That red color is just not matching interior. Also tacho must be full led in 2020. Those buttons on navi should be raplaced with one navi wheel in center console.

    I always wondered whether Hyundai or Kia is the more premium brand, any opinion on that? Also, Hyundai appear to have more European centric design both external and internal, whereas Kia seem more Asian bias as in more geometric silhoutte and conservative interior, more austere and sparsely garnished. Your comment greatly appreciated.

    • @AsianPetrolhead
      @AsianPetrolhead  5 лет назад +2

      Hi douglas. I would say Kia is in between Hyundai and Genesis. Few years ago, Kia also wanted to make it's premium brand just like Genesis. But the they ceased the plan, because of interference with Genesis. So, for example Kia still has K9 or K900, but G90 and 80s are sold under Genesis Brand. So, they are all family but divided slightly differently for marketing purposes. Well, as for the design. Hyundai seems to be focused more younger buyers, whereas Kia is more focused on slightly older people. But they are both great cars, just with slight design changes.

    Hi, I'm a big fan of you in Taiwan. Can you give me some suggestion between Kia Sorento and Hyundai Santa Fe? It's hard for me to choose from these two 2.2 liter diesel SUV. The size and price range are similar. Both of them have 7 seats and quite fit for family use. What is your preference? Thanks a lot.

    • @AsianPetrolhead
      @AsianPetrolhead  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Vin. Thanks for tuning in fromTawian. Yes they are very similar. So it seems like a design preference game. If you like floating navigation and exterior that looks more youthful then go with Hyundai. Or if you want regular built in navigation with more reserved design then go with Kia. And yes 2.2 diesel is the choice for these guys. Thank you.

      Yes, just like you said it will be between apples and oranges. But i personally would choose Santa Fe. Just like the exterior and interior design. I own the MY 2018 GT-Line model, this 2020 update is pretty much the same, except for additional nice-to-have features, saying that I wish I can have the HUD installed if possible :)
    All in all a very nice to drive car, the two things that bugs me a little are:
    1. The gear box can behave weird sometimes, especially in a up hill situation when speed is between 40-60km/h and 80-100km/h, causing uncomfortable feeling.
    2. On slightly narrower streets even with the lane departure warning system keeps beeping, the Lane keeping assist system can still drive you to the road sides.

    I love this car I have one (2016). Red alert on the V6 3.3 L engines. Apparently there’s a design defect that has not been making news. The V-6 engine models in early production vehicles have an issue with bolts backing out of the block allowing for exhaust gases to get into the cooling system. If that happens the entire engine needs to be replaced. It seems as though it’s a big problem and generally occurs in models between 100,000 and 120,000 miles. A dealer I spoke to says that they are replacing up to seven engines per week. Not one problem with this car and then all of a sudden this happened. I’m totally pissed. It’s a 6000-8000 engine replacement job. 100% of my service was done with Kia. When the problem took place a code wasn’t thrown and the check engine light never came on. Kia needs to pay for replacement of all of these engines. These cars are now complete garbage on the used car market.
    Kia KNOWS they have a problem. And the people taking their complaints on the calls know it to and are completely apologetic. I wonder how long it will take for the company to get hammered by the feds to come clean about the issue.

      @@AsianPetrolhead I hope so too. My car can’t be repaired because new engines are on back order and they have no idea when new ones will be available. It’s been months now. Asian Petrolhead Ha ha, I was hoping you’d shed some light on it! As much as I like Sorrento, I find it looks heavy and bulky. Maybe it’s more practical because of that over Santa Fe? I much prefer the rear side windows with the Santa Fe update over the previous more triangular one. In Australia, we only get the diesel with Santa Fe except the base Active model. We do get both options all the way through with Sorrento. Having a very efficient Golf petrol engine, I’m not sure if I’d go diesel.
      In any case, both are in my top 3 SUVs to buy, with Skoda Kodiaq on top at the moment.
      I’ll subscribe, but please include more metric measurements. eg kW and Nm for power and torque. I’ve also gotten used to litres per 100km, so 18.2km/l becomes a Golf petrol equaling 5.49l/100km on the highway.
