Subbed for Tool. I'm not religious but a Tool show is the closest thing I can get to a religious experience. I schedule my vacations around their tour dates. I highly recommend seeing them live. It's a whole new experience. They're touring the US in early 2022. Really enjoying your journey

This is exactly how I describe a Tool show. It is absolutely a spiritual experience, and I can definitely see why they have you put your phones down, and delve deep into the music.
Tool's song "Schism" is another must listen too. Perfect Circle song "Judith" is amazing with Maynard's voice too.🌹

Probably not the first and certainly not the last to suggest this but you really should watch the Danny Carey drum cam live version of this song now. You think you are amazed with this, wait til you watch him work. Old Tool suggestions: Undertow, Flood, Push It (studio then Salival live version). I've seen them twice. 97 during the Aenima tour and then in 2002 for the Lateralus tour. Amazing of course. I can die happy knowing I saw them perform Lateralus live.

I saw the 2002 tour as well, and they played the Disposition/Reflection/Triad set. Mike Patton and some of the other Tomahawk guys came out and were wailing on the drums during Triad. So good. Also, props for suggesting Flood. That could be my favorite song ever. They played that at the 2002 as well.
Did I get first comment? Anyway so glad you are listening to Pneuma, next you should do the live version and watch the drum cam video. But this is my favorite song off of the Fear Inoculum album. It's literally the ring tone on my phone currently.

My wife and kids accompanied me to the Melbourne show in 2020. My wife doesn't remember much of it because she said the opening song (Fear Inoculum) put her in a trance until the lights came on. 😃 My kids first concert ever too, the best band they will ever see. Spectacular show.
I have seen Tool live 9 times over the years; it is an indescribable experience. I had the honor of seeing them perform in an acoustic amphitheater once. That was the greatest live performance I've ever been too and probably ever will again in my life. It is not just an audio fest in your ears (they're pretty much studio record clear live), Tool also has amazing visual stimuli as well.

Tool is definitely a band that deserves multiple listens. I've been a fan since 1996 and I'm still peeling back the layers. It's simply amazing that a four piece can have such a musical, spiritual, and emotional impact. They continue to entrench themselves deeper into the spot of greatest of all time for me. Great reaction! Btw, Tool live is AMAZING!
Maynard's dedication to his Mom is good too. I think the real thing is 3 pieces. Tool- Jimmy, APC- Judith, Tool- Wings for Marie 1&2. Maynard's Mother spent over 10,000 days confined to a wheel-chair paralyzed. Do the Wings chapter w/ the fan made vid w/ the tree thumbnail. Best one out there. (Tears!)

Love watching your journey with this band! I've seen them live three times and about to see them a fourth time in March...they are phenomenal! When people say that you don't listen to Tool, you experience them...they're not lying. Not only is it sonically pleasing but they also put a lot into the visuals to give a whole other dimension and depth to their art. Every thing they do in their live shows are done with purpose. He'll, even where the band stands on the stage together is done specifically so that not one member is perceived to be above the others. If you get the chance to see them, go...you won't be disappointed!
Seriously think their song H. would resonate with you. I believe you said previously that you are a new parent. Maynard, although remaining very cryptic, has alluded to the song being about his son. It can be interpreted in many ways but I believe it is his struggle and acceptance with becoming a father
I have heard many takes on what H means, the best fit I can find is it's all about herion, hence "H" the street name.

@@IocaIhost could be it's a very deep song, but even that line leads me to think drugs.....you're blood begging you for it to medicate your anxiety. There's a lot that makes me think that way "I have died, I will die, I don't mind"

I’ve seen Tool more times then I can count and they have changed the way I listen to music! The music sends me to another place and has helped me through some serious times in my life! There are so many song to suggest but I think for myself and many others we would love to see you listen to them all!!! Watching someone discover Tool for the first time gives old Tool Army fans joy and we get to relive that first again through you! ❤️
I've only seen Tool live once...on their Lateralus tour. A friend purchased the tickets very late and said they were nosebleed seats. I didn't expect much, but it turned out we were almost DIRECTLY ON TOP of Danny Carey's drum kit (sure, we were very high up, but we had an amazing view of the stage and the drums). Turned out to be the best bad seats I've ever had. :)

@Sebs Duran It’s so crazy/amazing to hear your analysis of these songs that have been so extremely life-changing for myself. You are definitely far better educated and well-versed in many theories and concepts than I ever was until much later in my ride along the spiral and deep deep into the proverbial rabbit hole.
Kudos to you for “getting” their music, exploring your interpretation of their art, and recognizing their musical genius so quickly. I’m a 30-year TOOL “fan” (I’m not yet worthy of TOOL ARMY status) and yet still picking up new things that I had previously missed from their catalog. ❤️🌀😵💫
The only way I can describe seeing Tool in concert is that when you leave you don't leave saying that it was something that you did but rather something that was done to you
I saw them a few months ago in Vegas. Music was done to my body with a heavy machine gun. I am... changed.
I was in the nosebleed section for their Lateraulus show, and it was still the best concert experience I've ever had. They sound even better live than in studio, which is not something you can say of most bands.
TOOL live is not just live music. As much as their music is an audio experience, the visuals they provide with their perfectly played music at a concert are a visual experience. It is an experience every fan should have.
Tool are on tour soon. If they are playing a show anywhere near you I'd highly recommend trying to go. It is definitely an experience that IMHO no other band can come close to. The live experience cannot be showcased by any amount of recording. I myself am looking forward to seeing them next year.

It's always great seeing a Tool fan born. I like all kinds of music. This band is a once in a generation band. They age like a fine wine.
I have now seen Tool live 3 times, twice in 06 for the 10k Days tour, and then in 2019 i went with a very dear friend to the show in Boston at the Garden...WHERE Bird once played! Anyway, each and every time I get to see them its a life changing moment, and each time is somehow better than the last.

I've seen Tool live twice. Both times were amazing. The only other concert experience I could compare it to that I've seen personally is Pink Floyd. Yeah, I know. I'm old. Not so much the music being the same as the vibe at the shows. Both crowds were there to listen and appreciate the pure artistry on display.

Definitely watch the Drum Cam version. It's a wonder to behold! Seen them twice before I was lucky enough to be at the Mar. 11th Portland show. The following show was supposed to be in Eugene but was canceled due to the pandemic. I've got tickets to the Jan. 10th Eugene show where they'll be picking up the tour where they left off. When I saw them at the Gorge Amphitheatre during the 10,000 days tour I was on the floor close to the stage. I missed the stage show being projected on the stage but I got throttled with the sub bass speakers every time Danny went at the double bass pedals. Went to the second round of the 10,000 days in Portland when Maynard had a sinus infection so they gave him a break with a setlist of song with longer instrumental parts. The played Wings for Marie part 1 and 2. That one is going break you.
They are unbelievable live. NO CLICK track. ADAM JONES is Danny's Click track. Both Adam and Danny are students of the human metronome Robert Fripp of King Crimson. It's truly amazing that they can pull off such intricate songs live. Their songs are a result of Adam, Danny and Justin hashing out ideas and refining through hours of playing and listening. Maynard doesn't hear anything and start writing vocals until the songs are pretty much finished. Maynard has described it as They building the house and He does the decorating. They are touring soon. See them if you at all have the chance.
Danny also plays Jazz at The Baked Potato Jazz club in L.A. with The Doug Webb Allstars. They have streams of prior shows on TBP website. Great audio with multi-cam video. They will be playing a live show Nov.18 & 19th 2021. Details at The Baked Potato site
I love how they bring together 'religious' wisdom (which can be found also in secular philosophy) of one breath and one word with the scientific fact of star stuff to describe what it feels like to connect to one's spirit. And as a reactor, dude, you get it!
Tool live is a spectacle to behold, I've been to three shows and each time I was blown away. As a die hard Tool fan the first time I did cry and I don't care what anyone else says haha. To see this band live is monumental and a blessing for sure

Favorite Tool song is the last one I listen to. Need to listen to entire discography starting with Opiate. One of my favorites, besides the last one I listened to, is Pushit. Listen to the album then the live Salival version. Soooo Amazing!!
Watching you on your journey to enlightenment is a gift. Watched a lot of RUclips reactions to Tool and yours is pure. And when you have your collection together I highly recommend putting together a playlist of Tool and find a SDT or sensory deprivation tank and plug in. It will literally bring you to tears.
Bruh...no cap ur reactions to first hearing any tool song is borderline emotional...like when I saw u react to LATERALUS for the first time it brought me to tears cuz that was me the first time hearing that song...to me each band member i consider a (25 percenter) cuz all 4 band members equal the diamond in da rough we all love and are proud to call......TOOL.

I guess we each connect with Tool in our unique individual ways. The theme of this particuIar song, Pneuma, and the Divine Spark is rooted more in neo-platonic mysticism than in Stoic philosophy, you might be interested to learn.
I had literally just finished reading this great tome when I fell head over heels into the Tool rabbit hole, listening initially to Fear Inoculum then Lateralus - their two most overtly spiritually themed albums. Mind blowing! Like you, I really was amazed how through music they are able to affectively, emotively connect one to primal levels of spiritual experience. Hence their name, Tool, that might inspire spiritual transformation, evolution.
The book gives a great overview of many themes Tool/Maynard refer to. Hope you and similarly inspired listeners might likewise find it a helpful addition to your spiritual toolbox - pun intended!

I've seen Tool live only twice, but both were amazing experiences.
First time back in 2011 and there were so many coincidences or synchronicities that night, met a bunch of old friends I had lost contact with...
Then last year in January I almost didn't make it cause I was in a wreck that morning but some friends gave me a ride out to the show cause they knew I needed it, they played one of my favorite songs that got me through a really dark time in my life and it meant so much to hear it again.
You also need to watch the video of Danny Carey playing Pneuma. It shows the skill that Tool has. The drum cam of Danny gives a whole new appreciation of the song!
I haven't seen Tool live but friend of mine saw em at the Fox Theater in Detroit in 2006.
Tool were doing small venue "intimate" shows with the crowd seated at tables and told not to mosh or "rock out" or dance or whatever..
This was his first Tool show, he wasn't even that familiar with their music at all, someone had tickets and invited him, but he said it was like a freaking RELIGIOUS experience for him... although he was going to the bathroom to do coke throughout the night lol, but he really got into Tool there and afterwards.
I think that show and Tool were part of what made him want to change his life and get off drugs and all that, he went down to California to some fancy rehab, haven't seen or heard from him in a while so IDK how he's even doing now, oh well..
The first time that I saw TOOL live was at a music festival with 100,000 people in the crowd. It was outdoors and we were in back so we had room to move. The stage lit up with a bunch of eyes and lazers shooting everywhere, it was awesome. From the first beat it was a concert that I will remember forever. The ability to dance and feel the earth tremble with the bass and drum vibrations from these guys was incredible. We were standing by a couple of fire spinners that added to the experience. If you ever get a chance to see them outside, take it.
I hear you with a crowd being annoying or getting pushed when all I want to do is listen and dance. Visually speaking, TOOL has one of the best light shows I have ever witnessed. They go all out.
This entire album is amazing. Invincible is another great track. The guys deal with struggling to be relevant as they age. ✌

Well, one of my best friends of 15+ years who introduced me to the band. I was able to buy him tickets to the San Antonio concerts in October 2019. I had never seen my friend cry before. They were truly amazing. My friend passed away this summer, and I miss him very much. I'm honestly SO glad I spent that money to get him a ticket, as its one of my best memories with him.
Tool has always been one of my favorite bands. Had seen them the first time in 1993 at Lollapalooza in Irwindale and most recently in San Diego at the beginning of the 2020 tour before everything was shut down. Keep up the good work on your channel..🤙

He worked in makeup and set design department on such iconic features as "Jurassic Park," "Terminator 2: Judgment Day," "Dances with Wolves," "Ghostbusters II," and more. By "and more" we mean that Adam designed the "Freddy Krueger in the womb" makeup for "A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child," and also worked on "A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master."

It is absolutely okay to get emotional. When the albun first dropped I made the mistake to listen to it while I was out in the mall. I didn´t know what hit me, I started crying with chills up and down my spine and I didn´t know what hit me. It was this song. I stopped in my tracks in the middle of a crowded mall and sobbed like a baby. And I am not religious in any way, but very spiritually interested.

I’ve been fortunate enough to see Tool four times live through all stages of their career. Once in ‘96 when they were just raw power and a little scary, like what am I experiencing right now this is crazy. In 2001 at gorge amphitheater for lateralus which was my favorite concert. It looked like Maynard was a restrained wild animal on stage with amazing explosive imagery behind him. Saw them for 10,000 days great as always, and then in 2020 one day before they canceled their tour due to the pandemic. That show was amazing, a true display of their mastery. I’ve been listening to Tool for 30 years now and I still find myself understanding their music from different angles and in increasing depth.

I've been a Tool fan since 95 but only seen them live for the 1st time last year just before Rona hit. It's the only concert I have been to but wow what an experience, life and kids got in the way as priorities but glad I got to see them once before they retired. If they come again I'll be the 1st in line to go again.

Tool is the thinking mans metal . They are amazing in concert and Danny is who people come to watch play . Please watch the drum cam version of Pnuema and have your mind blown . You have to also remember Danny was 58 yrs old when they filmed the video . Love the reactions.
First saw them in the early 90’s as a newer band. They played the side stage at the Lalapalooza Festival and the buzz surrounding them was growing quickly. Been lucky enough to see them throughout the years for just about every tour but am most grateful for seeing them in January 2020 for the Fear Inoculum tour, right before the shutdown. It feels like the first time watching with you and I look forward to this journey. Enjoy, there’s much more greatness to experience.

I've seen them twice. First was back in the day, rt after Undertow. Down and dirty. Entire place was a mosh pit and the sound was perfect. They poured everything they had into that show. Relentless. Second time was after Lateralis, and it was like Nine Inch Nails plus Pink Floyd. If you've noticed the artwork, the physical picture on cd were a fold out booklet that was see through, so you could view anatomical layers of the body and consciousness. There were huge banners of each layer all around that reacted to lights. The band played mostly in the dark but illuminated the audience and they has a synthetic thunderstorm. Only time they stopped playing so Maynerd could say "...We've heard there's been breasts..."
Another recommendation for the Dannycam video.it really shows you the precision and talent of that man.just incredible.
Watching Tool live is amazing. I have been to 2 shows and they are literally as good live as they are recorded, and they always do an intermission for 15 or 20 minutes where danny just does a drum solo of whatever he wants to do. My wife and I have tickets for them this upcoming February as well so Im excited for that!!

I will repeat...watch the live drum cam of Pneuma. This was by far the best song performance when I saw them twice before COVID.

I've seen them 4 times now, I'll be seeing them in January 22 here in Sacramento. Each concert just gets better. Much like the albums, the focus is on the whole not an individual. The show is amazing. The work they put into building the production must be mammoth. It's a journey man. Something my son and I have ventured together. He buys me tickets, I buy him tickets. Just go dude. You have to see them live to truly experience thier art.
Tool live is nothing short out an other worldy experience. Each show is different. I will be seeing them again in Feb. I can't wait!!

You are ready for Wings of Marie 1&2. Because of your religious perspective, it will hit especially hard. Maynard's mom (judith marine) had a debilitating stroke and suffered for 27 years (about 10,000 days, per the album name) She was profoundly religious and was part of a church that Maynard found repugnant and filled with hypocrites. During her life, Maynard blamed god for her suffering but, she never did and clutched her faith through the end. Maynard had to come to terms with how powerful she and her belief were and get over his own 'Grudge' against god. It is an epic masterpiece that is both uplifting and devastating in its honesty. They must be listened to together. I don't mind your in song stops but I think you will find it sacrilegious once you get into it. If you have ever lost someone close, keep some kleenex handy.
Waiting to see that day when his reaction to those songs pop up on my feed. Getting the back story first and listening to his songs about his displeasure with her religious community and hearing how he comes out the other side is such a gut punch.

You cannot fathom how hard those drums slap when you're in the audience. Without drowning out the rest of the band. It's impossible to physically resist the beat.
The light show is trippy as hell and so is Maynard's weird behaviour. It's an absolute experience.
I saw TOOL live at the Big Day Out Festival in Gold Coast, Australia, they played right after Rammstein, it was one of the best nights of my life! Unbelievable.

Seen tool 4 times... 5 in march. Its unlike any other show I've seen. There no moshing, and I'm completely fine with that. Just an arena full of people going on a rhythmic journey. I remember leaving after my first tool concert. I looked at my friend and said "what the fuck just happened? "
He looked at me, blank faced, and said "Huh?"

I watched tool live for the first time last year. They brought COVID into NZ but boy was it worth it. I watched both days in Auckland. It was something else.
First day in the crowd up front standing towards the right where Justin was and second day in the seats left side closest to Adam.
I would choose seated everytime! They are an experience that I will always remember! They played 7empest live for the first time in that show.

I got too see TOOL live in Melbourne Australia 2020 just before we were in lockdown. It was my first live TOOL concert. I walked out feeling complete euphoria. BUCKET LIST done. Hopefully get to see them again.

I've seen them 10 times. Between the lasers and video screens and everything they incorporate, and the sheer enjoyment of watching them play their instruments, it really is the best live rock show you can go to.
