@@Hawkido Remember in Season 1 when Silco had that meeting with the chem-barons and reminded them how a few years back, when he was young, the air in the undercity was toxic and some people even grew used to it? He was most likely referring to the grey. So if Silco was already alive to witness the grey, before the ventilation system was installed and cleared the air, it probably was Cassandra who did it.
And ironically, Cait's first act as the leader of her house was to turn the vents into a chemical weapon against Zaun... There's a subtle comment about youth and rebellious young richies there, and it's awesome.

You *_KNOW_* you done screwed up if JINX is lecturing you. Also the "This isn't how it was supposed to...." was going to end with "this isn't how it's supposed to go." Jinx is constantly having su!c!dal ideations. That's why in part her voice sounds so different in the beginning as people have pointed out; this is intentional. She's just completely apathetic and dead. It's only when she sees Isha she starts to emote again. But if you look at the fight location closely, it looks like a tomb. The pillars had her life story on it, and the table very coffin or sacrificial like. She wanted to go out this way; by her sister's hand. It's like the bridge fight. It wasn't a "I'm taking Ekko with me." She wanted to die as Powder. Ekko saw her as Powder. Vi still sees her as Powder and that's how Jinx wants things to go. She wants POWDER to DIE.
In the previous episode, Jinx says to Sevika she intends to 'finish what remains of my family". She does seem to be inclusing herself in that, I just can't decide whether she means Vi or not. If Jinx is dead, but Vi survives, technically I don't think there's a family left.
Remember what Ekko said. "When it rains, WE'RE the ones who get wet." It's a clear metaphor for how Topside doesn't understand the consequences their actions have on Zaun. When the rune is going crazy, EVERYONE in that fight who has any kinda connection to magic, Sevika, Caitlyn, Vi, they're all reacting to it. And they're reacting NEGATIVELY. But even with her own weapon Fishbones going haywire, Jinx was thriving in the chaos.
It was Sevika's blue Hextech scars on her face that started reacting when the gemstone was pressed to her face. It woke up her scars, that is why she got disabled. It clearly shows Lightning arcing to her scars.
Meh, I got the impression they were only releasing controlled amounts, to temporarily clear areas they wanted to raid or to keep civilians away from any fighting. I mean, it's still a dangerous substance, it's not harmless, but I don't think Caitlyn had crossed the line at that point.
Also would like to point out that when caitlyn shot jinx in the finger (29:00), jinx looked over at vi like a little kid needing comfort after they hurt themselves. The hurt in her eyes is so impactful and that small little expression is so heartbreaking.
It's the first time Jinx was hurt in Vi's presence ever since they got separated back when they were kids. It shows that every time Powder got hurt as a kid, she'd turn to Vi because her big sister would always know what to do. So Powder is still in there, Jinx is just keeping her from coming out but the shock and the pain shook her resolve just for a moment.
THEY KISSED! IT FINALLY HAPPENED!! And then they broke up again.😭 I get why, Cait nearly shooting a child must've been a traumatic betrayal for Vi, but it still hurts. It hurts even more seeing Caitlin start to become like Jinx, and Mel's mom using that to her advantage. Act two is gonna be devastating.
This is the SECOND time Vi stopped Cait from shooting Jinx and the first time led to Cait's mother's death. Vi gave Cait her permission to take the shot and Cait had the shot. I understand Vi's concern for the child but Cait HAS NEVER MISSED. This show is so frustrating because I can empathize with both their perspectives.
@@mepanther3125 Cat wasn't in the right mindset. A sniper has to have a completely calm and collected demeanor, which Cait had only at the beginning of the fight. Vi probably noticed that Cait wasn't herself and that's why she stopped her again, especially that before Cait had a clear shot on Jinx's head and instead shot her middle finger off. And even if she would've made the shot, Isha's head was directly next to Jinx, and this hextech bullet probably would've hit them both with ease. I stand by Vi with this one, even if I understand and sympathise with Cait's pain, but she is letting her hurt and anger control her actions and now vengeance is all she's focused on.

If you go back to episode 1, during the fight in the memorial, when she fire at the Chemotanks she shot at the exactly same spot several times to be more efficient in destroying it.
I mean... Caitlyn is a cop after all. Like... Cops tend to phisically abuse their romantic partners and the entire population in general. Releasing poisonous gas is just a random tuesday to cops. Brutalizing interrogation subjecs... imprisoning innocent people, potentially harming and or traumatizing kids... and escalating into fascist dictators with the help of colonial powers... you know, COP STUFF.
Vi has received many blows stronger than a gun butt, but this was the most painful of all, as it was Caitlyn, using a weapon with the Kirammam family emblem, showing once again the difference between them
Little lore trivia, about the Woodkid's song and temple of this episode, the chants you can hear are in Shuriman and they can be translated: "Beyond these walls, the storm's fury grows (But I have nothing to fear!) Over land and sea, the storm's fury grows (For the blue bird is with me)" It's a prayer to the Shuriman goddess of winds, Jan'ahrem. The entire temple where the final fight take place is a Shuriman temple of Jan'ahrem, from when Zaun was Osha Va'Zaun, a portual city, where sailors would pray to Jan'ahrem for good winds to carry them safely during their travels. The worship of Jan'ahrem would end when the Emperor of Shurima, Azir, banned many gods' cults, that is until Zaun became a mining city and collapsed underground as a result of Piltover's building of the Sun Gates to connect Valorant (the northen continent) to Shurima (the southern continent), flooding the streets of Zaun with the Gray, when Jan'ahrem, now Janna, would return and cast away the toxic cloud with her winds. Now Janna is the patron spirit of Zaun, where people pray and give offerings to her, such prayers often about a single thing: fresh air. You can actually see Zaunites pray to a mural of her in Episode 2, in the brief montage of Viktor walking in the undercity.
@@avatardm Pretty much depends by how much they are really going to turn Arcane into the canon, which is by no mean an easy thing to do since a lot of the lore is made by in-game dialogues and bios, which takes a lot to be changed through reworks... like, a lot of essential components of many Champs would need to be changed, like Blitzcrank, Ekko, Camille and Renata (just to name the one most impacted by an "Arcane canon"). That said, nothing about Janna and her story would be that much impacted by Arcane's canon, since the Shuriman elements, and the Zaunite's worship, are not ignored, but actively acknowledged in the show, and it's never stated that things like the Sun Gates and the bombing for the creation of the canal never happened in the show. Also, this is the latest iteration of Janna from Legends of Runeterra, which is often the source for many nowaday's lore.
The use of the grey is actually rather brilliant from a tactical standpoint. As the only ones with the technology to both control and regularly breathe within the grey, Caitlyn's team can use it to traverse the underground unimpeded where they would normally be outnumbered by thousands of potential enemies. Additionally, everyone knows what the grey is, so by utilizing the filtration system to direct the grey towards points of interest (the old kids hang out from season 1, the first location we encountered the grey in episode 2, etc), Caitlyn is forcing civilians out of the areas of likely conflict. The only ones willing to stay in the places of high value are likely the crime bosses and their goons, minimizing variables and third party interruption while debilitating the enemies they encounter that might normally be too many in number to deal with.
breakup sucked but im happy Vi wont be too dependent on Caitlyn in that way. Vi needs to learn who she is without relying on others. I think act 2 will have her spiralling down but her lowest point will allow for her greatest change. I assume Warwick and Singed running amok will help Vi realise she's not an avenger, a fighter or a killer, but a protector. Then when Vi comes back to protect Piltover, it'll be a decision from herself, not dictated by jinx or cait or anyone else, it'll be because of who she is. I'm waiting for Vi to do a callback to Grayson's line "What are you shooting for, Cait?"
The trio of Jayce, Ekko and Heimerdinger is so surprisingly delightful! And yeah, they’re gonna smash our hearts to bits with Vi and Cait. Probably a few times. I’m not gonna lie, I’m scared they won’t be okay with each other by the end. My babies 😩 Let them be happy! I’m so unhealthily invested in these characters! 😭
I have faith that Cait may not turn into the exact same person she was before, but that with whatever happens over the next two acts she’ll at least turn back into the kind and compassionate person that she was in season 1.
Yeah, it's going to be sort of like how Mel was pushing for Hextek weapons until her mother showed up and Mel realized that maybe she was becoming a little bit too warlike, then changed her mind. Cait might see Ambessa warmongering like a fiend and realize that she is on the same path and have a change of heart.
Some things I would like to highlight :) 1-Lest, Vastaya (half-human, half-animal), Mel's friend, it was canonized that she is a trans woman 2-The windy woman that Jinx refers to is Jenna, a character from the game. She is known in Zaum for being the goddess of breeze, winds and life. 3-Just as Elijah had mentioned, the way Jinx and Vi fight looks like a fight between sisters, which is very sad, because even though they are separated they will always be linked, for example the color of Vi's eyes are POWDER blue, the color of the old Powder's eyes was VIolet blue, now Jinx's eyes are VIolet pink. 4- 28:57 I already imagined that Jinx would lose a finger, and that it would be at some important moment between her and Vi, because on the launch day of the second season, Valorant, another of Riot's games, made exclusive banners available for the event, one of them shows Vi with her eyes covered by Jinx's hands and one of her fingers became a prosthetic. And the other banner shows Jinx being hanged by Vi. 5- 32:28, Let's be honest, Caitlyn would never miss that shot, even with the child in front. Vi only stopped that shot, because she still hasn't come to terms with having to participate in her sister's death. 6- 33:34, Look what we have here, someone is left alone, in a dark alley, after fighting with someone they love and being punched by them... There was a certain feeling of Dejavuh Vi:Well,after that i,AS A ADUL WOMAM,became emo,no shit powder AS A KID get crazy.
I *KNEW* these two would break up if this kiss happened so soon in the season, but I didn't expect to hurt this much. Here is some details I noticed after watching and crying several times: ● It's clear that Vi isn't hurting so bad because of the hit itself, but because it was *Caitlyn* who hit her. The sweet and helpful girl that Vi fell in love with now sees her with as much contempt and hate as any Piltovian against Zaunites. That is probably on par, if not worse, than the pain Vi felt when she lost her family. Both of them. And notice that Cait hit her on the stomach, the very same spot where Sevika stabbed her, and going by timeline, that wound is at least a couple of weeks old and hasn't properly healed yet. And finally, Caitlyn uses the Enforcer tactic of hitting targets with the back of her rifle against Vi, treating her like any other Enforcer did her entire life. That was unnecessary, Cupcake. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 ● The parallels between this ending and the ending of Season 1's Act 1. Back then, it ended with Vi leaving a broken and sobbing Powder by herself after hitting her before she was forcefully separated from her sister. Here, Vi is hit by Caitlyn and left alone and crying. The biggest and most painful difference is that Caitlyn is leaving her on purpose, treating Vi like she is the enemy for not wanting Caitlyn from losing herself to revenge and getting others hurt. ● A reall hard call back to Caitlyn and Vi's talk "Oil and Water" also happens here. Back then, Vi mentioned that "when a real monster showed up", she walked away, clearly referring to herself, not Silco, for hitting Powder and leaving her sister so scared the night she unintentionally killed their family. Now, years later, Isha is giving her the *exact same* scared look Powder did that night. That problably is biggest punch in the gut Vi got, before Cait actually hit her in the gut.😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I really appreciate that in the relationship between Cait and Vi, Vi is the softer one. You'd think based on appearance and outward expressions that it would be Vi. You can see it in the kiss especially. I like the soft and good hearted butch.
I expect many minutes of raw emotions and rant from her. Oh I cannot wait. EDIT: It went almost as much as I expected. She played that scene not once, not twice, not thrice but... Whatever comes after thrice! ...rant was on point though. Cait and Vi situationship era begins.
Heimerdinger saw the pool of blood that Viktor had coughed up in the previous season. As for the Black Rose taking Mel away, it was because, after Mel’s mother killed the witch’s clone and discussed Mel with the first mate, the witch overheard the conversation, as the rose hadn’t disappeared yet. In the end, the Black Rose took advantage of the gap during the meeting Mel’s mother was holding and kidnapped Mel
not the same at all jayce didnt even see the kid cait wasnt in the proper mindset and she was deliberately shooting to the point where she didn’t care about grazing vi (the weapons were also mal functioning so it wasnt even about doubting caits ability to not miss there was an issue already)
Well I mean, the situations are different. In season 1 with Jayce, she wanted to get rid of Silco's operations and was filled with rage against him and the child was working for him. To her, it's basically just a casualty of war. And about Jayce, she doesn't care about him, at least not in a romantic way (for obvious reasons) so there's no for about it. She didn't get passed the child's death "for" Jayce, in fact she made it clear she didn't care what he thought of it, she was ready to continue her quest for revenge. In this case, the situation is much more muddied. The kid just appears out of nowhere to protect Jinx and is visibly afraid and just wants to protect her idol. Caitlyn is also acting more and more unhinged due to her rage and desire for revenge and Vi doesn't want her beloved to become like this. Also, Isha has a lot of parallels with Powder and to an extent Vi.
@@dikastederook6380eh. I think it's more that Vi was justifying what she felt was fundamentally wrong but can't be changed. You can't do anything about this kid, but you can stop dozens more from facing the same fate. Rationalization. If anything, that same attitude informs her reaction to the kid in this episode. She's made that mistake before, and Vi learns from her mistakes.
That "Wispy Wind Woman" is Janna! Shes a wind spirit and looks after the people of Zaun who are in unfortunate times. Vander probably told Vi and Jinx about some of her folktales when they were kids. The "Chanting" in the back of the song is actually a prayer to Janna, spoken in the native tongue of the civilization of Shurima. It no longer exists, as it was destroyed and its people we're displaced, but many of them immigrated to Zaun, hence why the song is in their language. The prayer translates roughly to this "Beyond our walls the storm's fury grows. Over the land and sea, the storms fury grows. But I have nothing to fear. For the Blue Bird is with me!" The Blue Bird refers to Janna, as her legend started on the seas. Before intense storms or unforgiving winds, Sailors would report seeing a Blue Bird flying in the direction of the storm. Some reports even say they saw the bird transform into a woman with long silver hair, and a staff twice her body length, who could will the wind to flow in any direction she chose with just a flick of her wrist. The optimistic sailors chose not to see the bird as a bad omen, but as a helpful warning, and thus those who worship Janna (who really isn't a God btw) wear a pendant featuring a diving blue bird.

The kid is a girl and her name is Isha! If it remember it shows it in the subtitles. But to backtrack a bit Vi and Jinx’s fight was indeed upsetting but hilarious to watch, almost like they’re fighting about who gets to do what or who’s turn it is to whatever 😭
Considering all the jinx/cait parallels the fact that during the interrogation the guy says “jinx is off the rails” and they cut to Cait’s trigger finger twitching at “off the rails”…. They just showed us so is Cait

Caitlyn is literally being manipulated by Ambessa the same way Silco was manipulating Jinx. Especially since Ambessa hitting the emotional strings for Caitlyn
Noxus is runned not by matriarchy or patriarchy but by pure strength. Achievements are what gives you power and authority in Noxus. Even if you are from another country and just became a citizen if you manage to climb up by your own strength and do amazing achievements for Noxus then you will be rewarded for it. Noxus used to be an run by an emperor until he was given the boot by Swain ( and also the Black Rose in the background screwed over the emperor ). That's why Mel's mom talks about an old order in Mel's memory in season 1.
Someone noticed that the shadow crown that Cait's fingers cast in the opening is the direct reference to the poster for one of Macbeth plays, and I wasn't the same since. Also Ambessa is truly proving this season that she's as much a fox as she's a wolf~ Recently there was a music video released specifically about her, and it's _fabulous._
One thing that people don't usually comment, even though Cait IS an amazing shooter, her gun is hextech and it was just glitching seconds before for no reason they knew about. Just one small glitch again like that and it could shoot Vi or the kid, so its not even about her ability to do it, but about the fact she doesn't care.
My two favorite details in this episode: Vi's reaction to Caitlyn kissing her. She looks scared and her breathing really starts to speed up. That moment of anticipation for her is just so relatable to anyone remembering the first kiss with that person they like. And number 2 is Vi catching Jinx in the middle of their fight when she falls from high up and Jinx panicking when the little kid points the gun at Vi. Both of them are currently trying to kill each other and even though Vi said they weren't sisters, they still instinctively try to protect each other.

27:19-27:23 Fun fact: Jinx's minigun is also called "Pow-Pow", the same nickname Vi had for Powder. This might symbolizes that Vi accepts that her sister is truly gone. It could symbolize something else, but this is all I can think of right now.
Caitlyn is going to realize she’s exactly like Jinx. Jinx is going to be that someone for the little kid that needs her. I’m not expecting a happy ending because this is an animated feature for a game and every game character has their own lore and every player back it up so I just don’t think the fighting will stop

I like how they introduce Blood Magic. It’s creepy, it’s dark red, it’s trippy, it’s mainly affecting the physical bodies (like they do in League Lore), and it’s being used by a member of the Black Rose (which would be expected from the Noxian version of the Illuminati)
Please ask Amanda to clarify Cait’s behaviour ie hitting vi and if the grey was only used on the chembarons hideout. People are saying Cait killed innocent civilians. The Cait hate is outta control now 😢
I also feel like Isha's intervention was a wake-up call for both Vi and Jinx. Vi had already set her mind that Jinx was a ruthless, psychotic monster and Jinx already decided that Vi fully became Enforcer. But after this, Vi realizes there's still a human bone in Jinx if a child is so protective of her. And when Vi stopped Cait from shooting, Jinx saw that there's still some of her big sister left.
I also heard someone say that the intro might be hinting at who is going to die in the final season, mainly looking at Jinx and Caitlyn because their introduction in the intro, is a reference to famous Shakespeare plays, for example, Caitlyn's being a reference to Macbeth. Which almost all of them ended up having the main character dying. I think it's a pretty neat theory and I am excited to see the final 2 acts and how everything will play out.
Maddie being the first one on their side to join Ambessa’s martial law declaration isn’t surprising. She’s introduced as a ray of sunshine, but one of the first things she said to Vi was that she was “one of the good ones”. She’s just like everyone else; she doesn’t view the people of the undercity as people.
Even the most friendly cop is still a cop. And the moment they start handing out the jackboots, that "ray of sunshine" will still be among the first in line
Oh my god, when I first watched this seasons I thought the grey was some kind of "weapon" piltover had incase something happened with Zaun, but it was actually Piltover (More specifically the Kirammans) who tried protecting the undercity from it. Which makes Caityling using The grey even worse.
I really do love arcane and it's layers you can come at to from a surface perspective and still come away satisfied or you can deep dive the lore or the animation or cinematography each have much to say when all combined makes something truly special. I especially love the silent story that each character has & is playing out no words just action beautiful can't wait for more
It's sad to see so many people not understanding the complexity of what we have seen in Act 1 between Caitlyn and Vi. There's no reason to hate on Caitlyn, she's a victim of the big whole, just like Vi. Her grief, overwhelming and the manipulation of Ambessa is clearly shown in several scenes. Jinx kills people in every Scene, Caitlyn breaks down under the weight that was put on her from one day to the other and snaps? Everyone's hating. Of course it's wrong what she did. But almost no one would have been able to keep being rational after all this. And I'm sure she will understand the situation amd try fix her mistakes so soon. Everyone who has gone through hard times knows that you've done things you realized later that they were wrong, or stupid or whatever. (I trust the writers and the progress of the story.) The show’s creators are known for nuanced storytelling, and Caitlyn’s redemption will likely involve acknowledging how her pain altered her actions and how she must make amends, especially with Vi. These people are too stupid to understand a complex character development with ups and downs. Ambessa manipulates everything and puts someone in power she can easily control, Plots the entire war escalation between Piltover and Zaun Is behind the attack at the Memorial for Caitlyn's mother, to make her rage even more and put even more pressure on her. Uses her as a puppet in her plan by putting her in a position of power she's not ready for. People need to stop overreacting and criticizing characters so fast, Caitlyn there is no stupid nickname they threw at her, like you don't like a character that's okay, don't accept her actions that's okay too, but don't make it personal and say a wrong thing like Caitlyn was going to kill the kid bc she's a cop, and cops are evil and blah blah. And there people completely ignoring that Cait is hysterical in that moment, she's clearly very angry and grieving. Grief is the craziest mental health affliction ever, it can drive you to be irrational, why are people not understanding that.
Your suffering does not justify your evil, Caitlyn literally released poison gas on people who have nowhere to go excusing herself that "it's to keep the streets clear while we look for Jinx" but she forgot the small detail that many of the people there LIVE IN THE STREETS. It was all seen in the final scene, Caitlyn pointing her gun in the direction where there is a child, Vi protecting the child (being in the situation where she has to kill her own sister she wanted back for years), and then Jinx protecting the child with her own body when the gas starts to come out. There are many valid reasons to hate Caitlyn after this episode, I don't share that opinion, but I understand those who hate her.
Nah, she's an adult, she has responsibility for her actions, if this happened in real life she would be heralded as a monster, you don't put a child in the line of fire, she's committing war crimes, if she was a real person she'd be put in jail for endangering a child, along with chemical warfare enacted on civilians, which is a war crime. She should be in a jail cell, hurting doesn't justify going on a tantrum and victimizing innocence. She isn't thinking reasonably, and it doesn't look like she really wants to as breaking shit and being violent seem to give her a sort of twisted catharsis and satisfaction, taking her anger out on a marginalized people and then wrongfully blaming the entire race for 1 persons actions to justify it to herself. I think she's being immature unreasonable
As a LoL lore aficionado, it hurts my brain somewhat to see people so easily fall for the manipulations of a *Noxian* diplomat and commander, of all things. Noxus is a warmongering nation that specifically trains agents to infiltrate independent city-states or nations, insert themselves into the politics, and prepare them for a Noxian takeover. They're called Warmasons, and I strongly suspect that Mel was being trained as a Warmason before her exile. Mel employs different tactics, but ultimately, throughout most of Season 1, Mel planned to push Piltover to a position where Jayce is basically made its unquestioned ruler while putting him under Mel's control, which is classic Noxian Warmason tactics. It isn't until Ambessa shows back up that Mel is able to decide to break away from her Noxian roots and start using her skills to help maintain Piltover's independence and identity. Unfortunately, Mel was the learner, and Ambessa the teacher. Ambessa swiftly identifies Salo as a weak point to catapult herself to a place of prominence in the wake of Jinx's attack, then effortlessly maneuvers herself to be the chief advisor to the young, impressionable, grieving, inexperienced and *angry* daughter of House Kirraman, who also assumed unofficial command of Piltover's military/police force in the wake of the Memorial attack. Ambessa, in almost no time at all, completes what Mel spent years slowly trying to position herself to achieve. I'm so fucking mad over people shitting on Caitlyn over what she does in S2A1. It literally makes all the sense in the world for Caitlyn's character to go down this road. Caitlyn blames herself for not pulling the trigger on Jinx in S1E9, and her mother died for her mercy. Then, when Caitlyn doubted herself during the first Council Meeting in S2 and didn't speak up, they were completely unprepared for the massacre at the Memorial, so Caitlyn uses her connection to Jayce to arm herself and her strike team with Hextech and asserts herself as the only method to achieve peace by assassinating Jinx and imposing order in Zaun. She uses the Grey-which is some form of nonlethal irritant-to herd the civilians out of the streets so her team can operate without being constantly attacked by Chem-Baron thugs or harassed by angry civilians, which probably helps Vi's morale so she's not constantly forced to fight fellow Undercity people. Then, when they FINALLY have Jinx, and have her *dead to rights*, Vi stops her from taking the shot that Vi herself told her to take. And yes, it is COMPLETELY understandable for Vi to stop Caitlyn from taking that shot-there was a kid seemingly in the way-but it's also completely in-character for Caitlyn to believe, probably very correctly, that she could shoot Jinx without hurting the kid. It's completely understandable for all characters from all directions for Act 1 to play out as it did.
what hurts more is the fact VI thought cait was different too and wasn't like all the other enforcers who had only really caused harm in her eyes and then Cait goes and HITS HER like OUCH

He was most likely referring to the grey. So if Silco was already alive to witness the grey, before the ventilation system was installed and cleared the air, it probably was Cassandra who did it.

Also the "This isn't how it was supposed to...." was going to end with "this isn't how it's supposed to go." Jinx is constantly having su!c!dal ideations. That's why in part her voice sounds so different in the beginning as people have pointed out; this is intentional. She's just completely apathetic and dead. It's only when she sees Isha she starts to emote again. But if you look at the fight location closely, it looks like a tomb.
The pillars had her life story on it, and the table very coffin or sacrificial like. She wanted to go out this way; by her sister's hand. It's like the bridge fight. It wasn't a "I'm taking Ekko with me." She wanted to die as Powder. Ekko saw her as Powder. Vi still sees her as Powder and that's how Jinx wants things to go. She wants POWDER to DIE.
In the previous episode, Jinx says to Sevika she intends to 'finish what remains of my family". She does seem to be inclusing herself in that, I just can't decide whether she means Vi or not. If Jinx is dead, but Vi survives, technically I don't think there's a family left.

It's a clear metaphor for how Topside doesn't understand the consequences their actions have on Zaun. When the rune is going crazy, EVERYONE in that fight who has any kinda connection to magic, Sevika, Caitlyn, Vi, they're all reacting to it. And they're reacting NEGATIVELY. But even with her own weapon Fishbones going haywire, Jinx was thriving in the chaos.
It was Sevika's blue Hextech scars on her face that started reacting when the gemstone was pressed to her face. It woke up her scars, that is why she got disabled. It clearly shows Lightning arcing to her scars.
Jinx thrives on chaos, it's almost like she didn't even noticed it happening before she shoots her weapon but she's used to shit blowing up and stuff
The stuff seems to interact with shimmer too. The fact that it did not affect Jinx as badly as everyone else makes her more interesting.

Also would like to point out that when caitlyn shot jinx in the finger (29:00), jinx looked over at vi like a little kid needing comfort after they hurt themselves. The hurt in her eyes is so impactful and that small little expression is so heartbreaking.
It's the first time Jinx was hurt in Vi's presence ever since they got separated back when they were kids. It shows that every time Powder got hurt as a kid, she'd turn to Vi because her big sister would always know what to do. So Powder is still in there, Jinx is just keeping her from coming out but the shock and the pain shook her resolve just for a moment.

THEY KISSED! IT FINALLY HAPPENED!! And then they broke up again.😭 I get why, Cait nearly shooting a child must've been a traumatic betrayal for Vi, but it still hurts. It hurts even more seeing Caitlin start to become like Jinx, and Mel's mom using that to her advantage. Act two is gonna be devastating.
This is the SECOND time Vi stopped Cait from shooting Jinx and the first time led to Cait's mother's death. Vi gave Cait her permission to take the shot and Cait had the shot. I understand Vi's concern for the child but Cait HAS NEVER MISSED. This show is so frustrating because I can empathize with both their perspectives.

@@mepanther3125 Cat wasn't in the right mindset. A sniper has to have a completely calm and collected demeanor, which Cait had only at the beginning of the fight. Vi probably noticed that Cait wasn't herself and that's why she stopped her again, especially that before Cait had a clear shot on Jinx's head and instead shot her middle finger off. And even if she would've made the shot, Isha's head was directly next to Jinx, and this hextech bullet probably would've hit them both with ease. I stand by Vi with this one, even if I understand and sympathise with Cait's pain, but she is letting her hurt and anger control her actions and now vengeance is all she's focused on.

Little lore trivia, about the Woodkid's song and temple of this episode, the chants you can hear are in Shuriman and they can be translated:

It's a prayer to the Shuriman goddess of winds, Jan'ahrem.
The entire temple where the final fight take place is a Shuriman temple of Jan'ahrem, from when Zaun was Osha Va'Zaun, a portual city, where sailors would pray to Jan'ahrem for good winds to carry them safely during their travels.
The worship of Jan'ahrem would end when the Emperor of Shurima, Azir, banned many gods' cults, that is until Zaun became a mining city and collapsed underground as a result of Piltover's building of the Sun Gates to connect Valorant (the northen continent) to Shurima (the southern continent), flooding the streets of Zaun with the Gray, when Jan'ahrem, now Janna, would return and cast away the toxic cloud with her winds. Now Janna is the patron spirit of Zaun, where people pray and give offerings to her, such prayers often about a single thing: fresh air.
You can actually see Zaunites pray to a mural of her in Episode 2, in the brief montage of Viktor walking in the undercity.

@@avatardm Pretty much depends by how much they are really going to turn Arcane into the canon, which is by no mean an easy thing to do since a lot of the lore is made by in-game dialogues and bios, which takes a lot to be changed through reworks... like, a lot of essential components of many Champs would need to be changed, like Blitzcrank, Ekko, Camille and Renata (just to name the one most impacted by an "Arcane canon").
That said, nothing about Janna and her story would be that much impacted by Arcane's canon, since the Shuriman elements, and the Zaunite's worship, are not ignored, but actively acknowledged in the show, and it's never stated that things like the Sun Gates and the bombing for the creation of the canal never happened in the show.
Also, this is the latest iteration of Janna from Legends of Runeterra, which is often the source for many nowaday's lore.
The use of the grey is actually rather brilliant from a tactical standpoint. As the only ones with the technology to both control and regularly breathe within the grey, Caitlyn's team can use it to traverse the underground unimpeded where they would normally be outnumbered by thousands of potential enemies. Additionally, everyone knows what the grey is, so by utilizing the filtration system to direct the grey towards points of interest (the old kids hang out from season 1, the first location we encountered the grey in episode 2, etc), Caitlyn is forcing civilians out of the areas of likely conflict. The only ones willing to stay in the places of high value are likely the crime bosses and their goons, minimizing variables and third party interruption while debilitating the enemies they encounter that might normally be too many in number to deal with.

breakup sucked but im happy Vi wont be too dependent on Caitlyn in that way. Vi needs to learn who she is without relying on others. I think act 2 will have her spiralling down but her lowest point will allow for her greatest change. I assume Warwick and Singed running amok will help Vi realise she's not an avenger, a fighter or a killer, but a protector.
Then when Vi comes back to protect Piltover, it'll be a decision from herself, not dictated by jinx or cait or anyone else, it'll be because of who she is.

Well yeah, you can't regain naivety once you've lost it, but she can become kind and compassionate again, just more experienced too.
Yeah, it's going to be sort of like how Mel was pushing for Hextek weapons until her mother showed up and Mel realized that maybe she was becoming a little bit too warlike, then changed her mind. Cait might see Ambessa warmongering like a fiend and realize that she is on the same path and have a change of heart.

Some things I would like to highlight :)
1-Lest, Vastaya (half-human, half-animal), Mel's friend, it was canonized that she is a trans woman
2-The windy woman that Jinx refers to is Jenna, a character from the game. She is known in Zaum for being the goddess of breeze, winds and life.
3-Just as Elijah had mentioned, the way Jinx and Vi fight looks like a fight between sisters, which is very sad, because even though they are separated they will always be linked, for example the color of Vi's eyes are POWDER blue, the color of the old Powder's eyes was VIolet blue, now Jinx's eyes are VIolet pink.
4- 28:57 I already imagined that Jinx would lose a finger, and that it would be at some important moment between her and Vi, because on the launch day of the second season, Valorant, another of Riot's games, made exclusive banners available for the event, one of them shows Vi with her eyes covered by Jinx's hands and one of her fingers became a prosthetic.
And the other banner shows Jinx being hanged by Vi.
5- 32:28, Let's be honest, Caitlyn would never miss that shot, even with the child in front. Vi only stopped that shot, because she still hasn't come to terms with having to participate in her sister's death.
6- 33:34, Look what we have here, someone is left alone, in a dark alley, after fighting with someone they love and being punched by them...

I *KNEW* these two would break up if this kiss happened so soon in the season, but I didn't expect to hurt this much. Here is some details I noticed after watching and crying several times:
● It's clear that Vi isn't hurting so bad because of the hit itself, but because it was *Caitlyn* who hit her. The sweet and helpful girl that Vi fell in love with now sees her with as much contempt and hate as any Piltovian against Zaunites. That is probably on par, if not worse, than the pain Vi felt when she lost her family. Both of them. And notice that Cait hit her on the stomach, the very same spot where Sevika stabbed her, and going by timeline, that wound is at least a couple of weeks old and hasn't properly healed yet. And finally, Caitlyn uses the Enforcer tactic of hitting targets with the back of her rifle against Vi, treating her like any other Enforcer did her entire life. That was unnecessary, Cupcake. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
● The parallels between this ending and the ending of Season 1's Act 1. Back then, it ended with Vi leaving a broken and sobbing Powder by herself after hitting her before she was forcefully separated from her sister. Here, Vi is hit by Caitlyn and left alone and crying. The biggest and most painful difference is that Caitlyn is leaving her on purpose, treating Vi like she is the enemy for not wanting Caitlyn from losing herself to revenge and getting others hurt.
● A reall hard call back to Caitlyn and Vi's talk "Oil and Water" also happens here. Back then, Vi mentioned that "when a real monster showed up", she walked away, clearly referring to herself, not Silco, for hitting Powder and leaving her sister so scared the night she unintentionally killed their family. Now, years later, Isha is giving her the *exact same* scared look Powder did that night. That problably is biggest punch in the gut Vi got, before Cait actually hit her in the gut.😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I really appreciate that in the relationship between Cait and Vi, Vi is the softer one. You'd think based on appearance and outward expressions that it would be Vi. You can see it in the kiss especially. I like the soft and good hearted butch.

As for the Black Rose taking Mel away, it was because, after Mel’s mother killed the witch’s clone and discussed Mel with the first mate, the witch overheard the conversation, as the rose hadn’t disappeared yet. In the end, the Black Rose took advantage of the gap during the meeting Mel’s mother was holding and kidnapped Mel

not the same at all jayce didnt even see the kid cait wasnt in the proper mindset and she was deliberately shooting to the point where she didn’t care about grazing vi (the weapons were also mal functioning so it wasnt even about doubting caits ability to not miss there was an issue already)
Well I mean, the situations are different. In season 1 with Jayce, she wanted to get rid of Silco's operations and was filled with rage against him and the child was working for him. To her, it's basically just a casualty of war. And about Jayce, she doesn't care about him, at least not in a romantic way (for obvious reasons) so there's no for about it. She didn't get passed the child's death "for" Jayce, in fact she made it clear she didn't care what he thought of it, she was ready to continue her quest for revenge.
In this case, the situation is much more muddied. The kid just appears out of nowhere to protect Jinx and is visibly afraid and just wants to protect her idol. Caitlyn is also acting more and more unhinged due to her rage and desire for revenge and Vi doesn't want her beloved to become like this. Also, Isha has a lot of parallels with Powder and to an extent Vi.
@@dikastederook6380eh. I think it's more that Vi was justifying what she felt was fundamentally wrong but can't be changed. You can't do anything about this kid, but you can stop dozens more from facing the same fate. Rationalization.
If anything, that same attitude informs her reaction to the kid in this episode. She's made that mistake before, and Vi learns from her mistakes.
That "Wispy Wind Woman" is Janna! Shes a wind spirit and looks after the people of Zaun who are in unfortunate times. Vander probably told Vi and Jinx about some of her folktales when they were kids.
The "Chanting" in the back of the song is actually a prayer to Janna, spoken in the native tongue of the civilization of Shurima.
It no longer exists, as it was destroyed and its people we're displaced, but many of them immigrated to Zaun, hence why the song is in their language.
The prayer translates roughly to this
"Beyond our walls the storm's fury grows.
Over the land and sea, the storms fury grows.
But I have nothing to fear.
For the Blue Bird is with me!"
The Blue Bird refers to Janna, as her legend started on the seas. Before intense storms or unforgiving winds, Sailors would report seeing a Blue Bird flying in the direction of the storm. Some reports even say they saw the bird transform into a woman with long silver hair, and a staff twice her body length, who could will the wind to flow in any direction she chose with just a flick of her wrist. The optimistic sailors chose not to see the bird as a bad omen, but as a helpful warning, and thus those who worship Janna (who really isn't a God btw) wear a pendant featuring a diving blue bird.
I knew this episode would put Elijah through the wringer. First Caitvi kiss, then break up again, and to top it all off, the Art gets kidnapped by the end of it.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I think it’s essentially canon that being exposed to the gray as a child is the reason for Viktors terminal illness in season 1
The kid is a girl and her name is Isha! If it remember it shows it in the subtitles. But to backtrack a bit Vi and Jinx’s fight was indeed upsetting but hilarious to watch, almost like they’re fighting about who gets to do what or who’s turn it is to whatever 😭

Caitlyn is literally being manipulated by Ambessa the same way Silco was manipulating Jinx. Especially since Ambessa hitting the emotional strings for Caitlyn
Noxus is runned not by matriarchy or patriarchy but by pure strength. Achievements are what gives you power and authority in Noxus. Even if you are from another country and just became a citizen if you manage to climb up by your own strength and do amazing achievements for Noxus then you will be rewarded for it. One thing that people don't usually comment, even though Cait IS an amazing shooter, her gun is hextech and it was just glitching seconds before for no reason they knew about. Just one small glitch again like that and it could shoot Vi or the kid, so its not even about her ability to do it, but about the fact she doesn't care.

My two favorite details in this episode:
Vi's reaction to Caitlyn kissing her. She looks scared and her breathing really starts to speed up. That moment of anticipation for her is just so relatable to anyone remembering the first kiss with that person they like.
And number 2 is Vi catching Jinx in the middle of their fight when she falls from high up and Jinx panicking when the little kid points the gun at Vi. Both of them are currently trying to kill each other and even though Vi said they weren't sisters, they still instinctively try to protect each other.

Fun fact: Jinx's minigun is also called "Pow-Pow", the same nickname Vi had for Powder. This might symbolizes that Vi accepts that her sister is truly gone. It could symbolize something else, but this is all I can think of right now.

I like how they introduce Blood Magic. It’s creepy, it’s dark red, it’s trippy, it’s mainly affecting the physical bodies (like they do in League Lore), and it’s being used by a member of the Black Rose (which would be expected from the Noxian version of the Illuminati)

I also feel like Isha's intervention was a wake-up call for both Vi and Jinx. Vi had already set her mind that Jinx was a ruthless, psychotic monster and Jinx already decided that Vi fully became Enforcer. But after this, Vi realizes there's still a human bone in Jinx if a child is so protective of her. And when Vi stopped Cait from shooting, Jinx saw that there's still some of her big sister left.
I saw someone say that Cait hit Vi where the wound was that Sevkia gave her, and that Cait healed
Her happy tears are going to turn into sad ones so quickly-
Anyone else hold their chest where their heart is during the Vi/Jinx fight? I wasn't worried about the sisters, I was deathly worried for Caitlyn. 💜
I also heard someone say that the intro might be hinting at who is going to die in the final season, mainly looking at Jinx and Caitlyn because their introduction in the intro, is a reference to famous Shakespeare plays, for example, Caitlyn's being a reference to Macbeth. Which almost all of them ended up having the main character dying. I think it's a pretty neat theory and I am excited to see the final 2 acts and how everything will play out.
Maddie being the first one on their side to join Ambessa’s martial law declaration isn’t surprising. She’s introduced as a ray of sunshine, but one of the first things she said to Vi was that she was “one of the good ones”. She’s just like everyone else; she doesn’t view the people of the undercity as people.
Even the most friendly cop is still a cop. And the moment they start handing out the jackboots, that "ray of sunshine" will still be among the first in line

Oh my god, when I first watched this seasons I thought the grey was some kind of "weapon" piltover had incase something happened with Zaun, but it was actually Piltover (More specifically the Kirammans) who tried protecting the undercity from it. Which makes Caityling using The grey even worse.
I really do love arcane and it's layers you can come at to from a surface perspective and still come away satisfied or you can deep dive the lore or the animation or cinematography each have much to say when all combined makes something truly special.
I especially love the silent story that each character has & is playing out no words just action beautiful can't wait for more
It's sad to see so many people not understanding the complexity of what we have seen in Act 1 between Caitlyn and Vi. There's no reason to hate on Caitlyn, she's a victim of the big whole, just like Vi. Her grief, overwhelming and the manipulation of Ambessa is clearly shown in several scenes. Jinx kills people in every Scene, Caitlyn breaks down under the weight that was put on her from one day to the other and snaps? Everyone's hating. Of course it's wrong what she did. But almost no one would have been able to keep being rational after all this. And I'm sure she will understand the situation amd try fix her mistakes so soon. Everyone who has gone through hard times knows that you've done things you realized later that they were wrong, or stupid or whatever. (I trust the writers and the progress of the story.) The show’s creators are known for nuanced storytelling, and Caitlyn’s redemption will likely involve acknowledging how her pain altered her actions and how she must make amends, especially with Vi. These people are too stupid to understand a complex character development with ups and downs. Ambessa manipulates everything and puts someone in power she can easily control, Plots the entire war escalation between Piltover and Zaun Is behind the attack at the Memorial for Caitlyn's mother, to make her rage even more and put even more pressure on her. Uses her as a puppet in her plan by putting her in a position of power she's not ready for. People need to stop overreacting and criticizing characters so fast, Caitlyn there is no stupid nickname they threw at her, like you don't like a character that's okay, don't accept her actions that's okay too, but don't make it personal and say a wrong thing like Caitlyn was going to kill the kid bc she's a cop, and cops are evil and blah blah. And there people completely ignoring that Cait is hysterical in that moment, she's clearly very angry and grieving. Grief is the craziest mental health affliction ever, it can drive you to be irrational, why are people not understanding that.

Some people seem to really lack any kind of media literacy
Your suffering does not justify your evil, Caitlyn literally released poison gas on people who have nowhere to go excusing herself that "it's to keep the streets clear while we look for Jinx" but she forgot the small detail that many of the people there LIVE IN THE STREETS.
It was all seen in the final scene, Caitlyn pointing her gun in the direction where there is a child, Vi protecting the child (being in the situation where she has to kill her own sister she wanted back for years), and then Jinx protecting the child with her own body when the gas starts to come out.
There are many valid reasons to hate Caitlyn after this episode, I don't share that opinion, but I understand those who hate her.
Nah, she's an adult, she has responsibility for her actions, if this happened in real life she would be heralded as a monster, you don't put a child in the line of fire, she's committing war crimes, if she was a real person she'd be put in jail for endangering a child, along with chemical warfare enacted on civilians, which is a war crime. She should be in a jail cell, hurting doesn't justify going on a tantrum and victimizing innocence. She isn't thinking reasonably, and it doesn't look like she really wants to as breaking shit and being violent seem to give her a sort of twisted catharsis and satisfaction, taking her anger out on a marginalized people and then wrongfully blaming the entire race for 1 persons actions to justify it to herself. I think she's being immature unreasonable
As a LoL lore aficionado, it hurts my brain somewhat to see people so easily fall for the manipulations of a *Noxian* diplomat and commander, of all things.
Noxus is a warmongering nation that specifically trains agents to infiltrate independent city-states or nations, insert themselves into the politics, and prepare them for a Noxian takeover. They're called Warmasons, and I strongly suspect that Mel was being trained as a Warmason before her exile. Mel employs different tactics, but ultimately, throughout most of Season 1, Mel planned to push Piltover to a position where Jayce is basically made its unquestioned ruler while putting him under Mel's control, which is classic Noxian Warmason tactics. It isn't until Ambessa shows back up that Mel is able to decide to break away from her Noxian roots and start using her skills to help maintain Piltover's independence and identity.
Unfortunately, Mel was the learner, and Ambessa the teacher. Ambessa swiftly identifies Salo as a weak point to catapult herself to a place of prominence in the wake of Jinx's attack, then effortlessly maneuvers herself to be the chief advisor to the young, impressionable, grieving, inexperienced and *angry* daughter of House Kirraman, who also assumed unofficial command of Piltover's military/police force in the wake of the Memorial attack. Ambessa, in almost no time at all, completes what Mel spent years slowly trying to position herself to achieve.
I'm so fucking mad over people shitting on Caitlyn over what she does in S2A1. It literally makes all the sense in the world for Caitlyn's character to go down this road. Caitlyn blames herself for not pulling the trigger on Jinx in S1E9, and her mother died for her mercy. Then, when Caitlyn doubted herself during the first Council Meeting in S2 and didn't speak up, they were completely unprepared for the massacre at the Memorial, so Caitlyn uses her connection to Jayce to arm herself and her strike team with Hextech and asserts herself as the only method to achieve peace by assassinating Jinx and imposing order in Zaun. She uses the Grey-which is some form of nonlethal irritant-to herd the civilians out of the streets so her team can operate without being constantly attacked by Chem-Baron thugs or harassed by angry civilians, which probably helps Vi's morale so she's not constantly forced to fight fellow Undercity people. Then, when they FINALLY have Jinx, and have her *dead to rights*, Vi stops her from taking the shot that Vi herself told her to take. And yes, it is COMPLETELY understandable for Vi to stop Caitlyn from taking that shot-there was a kid seemingly in the way-but it's also completely in-character for Caitlyn to believe, probably very correctly, that she could shoot Jinx without hurting the kid.
It's completely understandable for all characters from all directions for Act 1 to play out as it did.
what hurts more is the fact VI thought cait was different too and wasn't like all the other enforcers who had only really caused harm in her eyes and then Cait goes and HITS HER like OUCH
im so glad that someone else noticed the intro changes I noticed them in this episode as well and then spent an hour meticulous analyzing every little detail on all three. I feel like now I gonna spend hour on every episodes intro 😂
