She was not only the greatest comedian, she was a truly great thoughtful, caring human being. She is the only star in my 50 years of living/working in Hollywood, that I have heard so many stories about from others who knew or worked with her talking about her incredible kindnesses and thoughtfulness towards others.
She was very personable & kind but remember we are people and maybe they caught her on a bad day. She often went to Aspen skiing and it was reported she was curt and rude, might have been a bad day. She was a perfectionist and yes they can be intense.
I really like the host. He was very respectful towards Lucille. I have been reading a lot of articles during the 80s of people bashing Lucy. I don't understand why those people went after her they way they did in the 80s. I have seen articles from the Los AngelesTimes bashing her and other critics. She is a legend. You don't disrespect legends.💯
Especially Lucille Ball. She's more than a legend. She is a true icon on many fronts. Because of her iconic show I Love Lucy she set the bar so high it is unreachable. The entire tv 📺 industry will always be in her debit. Thank you Ms. Ball for everything ❤❤❤
Still gorgeous - look how GORGEOUS her hands are - even going into her 70s. Intelligent, honest and direct in her speech - what a wonderful expereince to simply listen to her.
I have fair skin and wear a little makeup. However, I put some lotion on and then the bit of blush turns out red. I don't realize, but it is similar to how Lucy's cheeks look here. I am always surprised when someone takes a picture of me - red cheeks all right

And she continues to do so, beyond the grave, even.
That's priceless, love, love, love it!!! Thank you for sharing!!!

She became a figure of conservative values, if not politically, then socially, when that was not "cool."

MORE OF LUCILLE BALL PLS!!
I haven’t seen Merv in several decades. He’s quite personable
indeed, merv had the best show & guests.....
❤🙏
She was very honest, about her ability to not be funny
You can hear all the cigarettes she smoked in her voice. She was a CHAIN smoker her whole life.
Most of her life but not all of her life. She quit around 1985, doctor's orders.
Actually, her voice was low and somewhat raspy - even when she played Lucy on tv her voice was high pitched.
@@LJ-ht4zs Not so much originally, I think cocktails, cigarettes and not having voice coaching did it in.
What a special interview. It's funny what she says, because he does interrupt too much.
7:00 you were plenty funny my dear 😂🌹
She had to been a smoking mf😂😂
Man her makeup artist did a terrible job to her for this interview and the host of this show was being creepy being so close to her like that.
That was Merv Griffin, and he did that with everyone. People weren’t so precious then.
@@fredricardo3272what a silly thing to say… they were precious! Hollywood was a tough place even then
I guess you''ve never watched Drew Barrymore.

@@LJ-ht4zs It's a disagreement between the make-up artist and the lighting designer, who should have done tests.
creepy guy
She’s drunk here
Nasty thing to think.
Ronald McDonald? Is that you/
That's a dude. hahaha. Lucille Lucifer never mind
She was the funniest comedian to date then. Don’t judge.
What a bizarre thing to write.
