      @@SwitchCorner the best way to watch One Piece is simple: use a wiki that lists all of the story arcs and then SKIP the anime-only ones aka the freaking fillers
      that'll cut the amount of episodes tremendously and you'll get the satisfaction of watching the manga brought into animation
      forget what most fans will say about the fillers as they're mostly just non-canon garbage made specifically to increase the episode count while the manga is still being published

    What an awesome video, Alex. We appreciate all the hard work you put into it. Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Perfect Blue and the Studio Ghibli films are a great starting point. Some of my favorites are Neon Genesis Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, Fist of the North Star, Serial Experiments Lain, Mobile Suit Gundam, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Berserk, Parasyte, FLCL, Initial D, Fullmetal Alchemist, and Trigun. There's a lot of amazing anime out there to discover!

    There are so many great anime though I've watched far fewer than some. Cowboy Bebop remains my favorite along with Ghost in the Shell but I also enjoy Demon Slayer, Made in Abyss and a number of others. I'd say that some classic anime that you'll want to check out are the original Dragon Ball series, Guyver (either or both series', they're both great for different reasons), Ranma 1/2, and Slayers...these are ones that I enjoy, but not my personal favorites, however Hell Girl, Elfen Lied, Azumanga Daioh, Soul Eater, Project A-Ko, and Petite Princess Yucie aren't for everybody. Death Note, Kyo Kara Maoh, Gunslinger Girl, and Trigun are also quite good. Also you can rarely go wrong with anything from Studio Ghibli or the Pokemon anime...

    I'm not as well versed in anime series' myself, but look to anime styled games to get my fill. Recently Ni No Kuni and Dragon Quest XI S on Switch. Both evoke Saturday morning TV vibes. Battle Chef Brigade is less animated, but has great artwork and anime styled tropes. There's something about crisp clean cel animation and cel shaded effects that look really good handheld on a Switch.

    What a great idea for a video! Thanks Alex!
    Anime is really interesting because it literally covers all kinds of stories, characters, and worlds. Whatever your interests, there IS something that will strike your fancy if you look a little.
    As far as recommendations go:
    I would highly, highly recommend Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo. Both are on the shorter side, and absolutely worth the watch. Bebop in particular is beloved (deservedly so), but Champloo has some of the best animation I've ever seen.
    For something a little more meaty and off-beat, my wife and I really loved a show called Samurai Seven. It's loosely based on the classic film Seven Samurai, and the story, world-building, and characters are top-notch! It's seven seasons, and they aren't short, but very worth a look to see if you like it.
    I saw someone mention Haikyu! in the comments; I haven't seen all of it but yeah, give it a try. Shockingly dramatic and heartfelt.
    Finally, One Piece is really good. Yes, there is a ton of it, but it starts strong and just seems to keep getting better as it goes. It is worth noting that the manga and hence series is officially wrapping up now, and should be done within 5 years. Plenty of time to catch up even if you only watch an episode a day. It also binges extremely well!
    Sorry for the short novel, I get excited... I leaned towards the classic, more masculine action-y stuff, but if you are interested there are a a lot of other good recommendations spanning a ton of genres from horror to drama to comedy.

    • @SwitchCorner
      @SwitchCorner  Год назад +1

    As for anime, I'll recommend some classics without naming so many that they will overwhelm you.
    Rouroni Kenshin. It's about a legendary samurai known as Battousai the Man-Slayer, Kenshin Himura, who becomes a pacifist. Damn good series.
    For Dragon Ball, honestly the original is my favorite, I haven't seen Super, and I recommend avoiding GT altogether.
    Yu Yu Halushko. Main character is a juvenile delinquent named Yusuke Urameshi who sacrifices his life to save a little kid from getting ran over by the car and is offered a second chance at life as basically a demon hunter.
    Now onto the Mecha portion:
    Gundam. The series is absolutely huge. It's been around since the 70s. My introduction was Gundam Wing, but honestly G Gundam or Gundam Seed would probably be more accessible.
    Zoids. I have fond memories of Chaotic Century and New Century Zero as a kid. I'm not sure how the other shows in the series hold up, but they are both solid shows.
    Big O. Much more philosophical.
    And for something completely different, Hellsing. Both the anime and the OVAs are pretty solid. I just hate how the manga ended. A lot. Obviously, it's about Dracula, going by Alucard and working for the Hellsing Organization, killing vampire and other supernatural creatures, with the main villain be the Millenium Group, a nazi remnant.

    My frustration with anime games is that they usually default to arena brawlers, but it would be fun to have different types of anime games. I’d love a boss rush Demon Slayer game, for example. Anime I’d recommend watching: 1. Mushoku Tensei - the story is brilliant and the art is amazing. 2. Haikyu! - a volleyball anime, focusing on teamwork, friendship, competition etc. It’s brilliant and touching. 3. Re:Zero - guy gets reincarnated into a fantasy world, but every time he dies, he restarts life at a checkpoint. It’s emotional and touching, and the main character becomes the catalyst for the development of other characters.

      Nope and final battle is one of the more expensive games on the resell market from what I understand, last I checked it was over a couple hundred bucks

      Could be worse, could have traded it in at a game store for next to nothing! It was back when the financials were tighter around the channel so I would trade in to pick up review material and wasn’t getting as many codes from publishers!

      @@SwitchCorner I'm not a big anime guy, but Evangelion totally blew me away (and became my favorite of all time). You can ignore all the remakes and simply stick to its original run. 26 episodes and the End of Evangelion movie (1995-1997). I'd recommend the original dub or sub (I'm a dub fan, sue me. Haha). If you need help finding the original series online instead of the Netflix version, let me know. I'd be glad to help.

      @disalazarg Год назад +1

      @@SwitchCorneryou need to start with the original series, then the End of Evangelion movies, then optionally the other media like Evangelion ANIMA since they spoil the original pretty heavily, and finally the Rebuild of Evangelion movies which cap the franchise.
      It's a lot, but definitely worry it.

      @disalazarg Год назад

      @@crackadon86if by remake you meant the Rebuild movies, only the first one is remake-ish (and the differences are plot important); plot in the second diverges pretty heavily, and third & fourth are completely original.

      @@disalazarg Rebuilds, my bad. I've never been interested in them because I believe the original Eva series and EoE are masterpieces. That being said, would you recommend the newer movies? I trust Anno, but have had my reservations about them.

    I've never really been a huge anime fan, but I have to DEFINITELY recommend the Death Note series. It's amazing!!! The live action movies are great too. (The Japanese versions, NOT the American movie version 🤢🤮) LOL!!!! Check it out for sure!!! The American movie was pure trash in my opinion. They did NOT stick to the original story at all. So PLEASE dont use that movie as a reference to the show LOL.

      I've seen the japanese live action movie, I actually didn't know they did an American remake though. I imagine that's like the American Oldboy, something you should never watch and you just stick with the original!
