    Great review. Bed firmness is my # 1 concern on all beds. This honest YT review got me to search a bit more on 8Sleep and there are a few dozen reviews talking about how the top coils with water flowing through make the bed too firm for some people (some people being anyone who likes a soft mattress). So that just saved me $ 4000 and the issues of installation just to find out I would not need to throw it away. But for those peeps who do not mind a firm bed the 8Sleep sounds like an awesome idea = my wife wants it warmer in the room so I could have cranked up the cooling in this bed on my side.

  • @mmajik5266
    @mmajik5266 Месяц назад +7

    I wonder how much of your comfort issue is related to having a memory foam topper. Memory foam works via body heat softening the foam which is what allows for that slow melting conformance to your body. That might explain why you felt more comfortable with the temperature setting set to warm the bed. I'm tempted to give it a try, but it would be a deal breaker if it changed the pressure relieving qualities of my bed.

    • @skully70

If it hadn’t dipped, I would have loved it

  • @inb4tehlulz
    @inb4tehlulz 26 дней назад

    I bought the eight sleep on it's first generation of a cooling pad, when they shipped it with a mattress. The mattress it came with was insanely soft, but the combination of the topper with the very soft mattress worked out to be a great firmness. Without that very soft mattress I think it would be far too firm. Unfortunatenly without the eight sleep cover the original mattress is almost impossible to use. It's so incredibly soft it's uncomfortable, and holds an insane amount of heat... which leads me into the next problem.
    Having used the generation 1, we experienced nothing but problems with a comically short warranty for such an expensive mattress. Our first leak happened within 6 months, and then the second leak happened 10 days after the warranty ended. The worst part about the leaks.. once you take the cover off the mattress it's useless. You're stuck without any bed to sleep on, so instead you have to drain the entire mattress topper to even sleep on your bed without being wet. 10 days after the end of the warranty they told us they don't even manufacture the same topper anymore, so even if they wanted to replace it they couldn't. Thankfully after a few complaining calls they sent us the second generation topper, which lasted for about a year.. and then leaked. We were able to somehow get another replacement, but after 2 years the entire eight sleep pod started to fail. The pump for one side no longer primed or moved water.. possibly from running with a leak multiple times? It's hard to say. Unfortunately support was not there. It's kind of upsetting to spend 3000 dollars for a setup that lasted 2 years before needing to be completely replaced with a new mattress.

Have been impressed with the hardware itself, but disappointed by the overall experience. While I do find it physically comfortable, the lack of basic customization re: time and temp control is perplexing. That's a bit weird argument. How frequently have you not had WiFi?
      I can't really remember a single instance in my past 6 years where I had such issues with the Internet.
      And let's say for whatever reason there's a night without WiFi. One night without temperature regulation is not the end of the World.
      You can still sleep.
      I'm just saying here that a lot of arguments seem a bit weird since these things likely won't matter significantly at all.
      I also don't care about the subscription fee. To me if anything this incentives the company to keep developing the software. You just add it to your estimated cost and then determine what kind of value it would bring to you. This is just math.
      My main question is. Is it going to increase quality of your sleep and what kind of effects having this increased quality bring to your life? Then calculate if the expense is worth the value it brings. This is the only thing that matters. In your calculations you can just calculate the value add per 5 years and then 5 x 12 x sub fee + initial cost for simplified calc.

Normally I'm not up during that time, so I don't care, but I'd likely notice if it took down my mattress cooling. Also, I have no control over my ISP, Spectrum is all that's available where I live. Bro you should have just bought a quality cool gel topper. With the fan sheets. Though when it GETS cold the topper gets hard. But it's still as comfortable once u get into your spot. And wicks the heat away from ya. And for 4k this thing is more trouble than it's damn worth. You're supposed to buy a quality bed for quality sleep no matter what that is for the individual because we all know the reason behind that not to mention sleeping a third of our life. This would be absolutely disastrous for anybody with back problems or any type of difficulty or handicaps. Even select number now makes a heater and a cooler in one of their top models now that's a whole unit for 4 grand 20 years warranty bed and all. Also now they also make adjustables like the old craftmatics. And if u do a king you can have a split mattress one side down one side could be reclining as if ur reading or watching TV or even icing the old back injury. Way better smart technology imo. And the firm and softness options are separate to for both people. One can have it soft while the other is harder. 8 sleep is not worth it at all with all the options on the market now. God bless

    This was such a great review. But there's another thing that wasn't touched on for Eight Sleep, a negative factor that once you know the truth, will keep you from buying one. EMF (electro magnetic frequency) in the form of bluetooth and/or WIFI is damaging to the human body...but never moreso than at night when you are sleeping. The body communicates through small electrical impulses and WIFI interrupts those impulses. You should never sleep with the phone next to your bed unless it's in airplane mode. And worse, you should never, ever charge the phone next to where you sleep. You'd be shocked how much dirty electricity comes off the charging cable which can be measured with a meter. So the fact the Eight Sleep requires WIFI/bluetooth runs counter to anything it happens to be doing for you. Your sleeping area in particular should be as EMF free as possible in order to secure a good night's deep sleep.
    In addition, blue wavelength light (which is what comes off your phone) shuts off Melatonin production in the brain and cells! So the fact that Eight Sleep requires you to click your phone on in the middle of the night, AND even have it next to you for 'easy' access, shows me that they have no clue what they're doing when it comes to sleep. They F'd themselves in more ways than one for anyone who knows what's what. Sorry not sorry Eight Sleep.

      Do you work for the company? Having to pay a subscription and not being able to adjust it if you leave the subscription? It's disgusting. Total rip-off. Apparently they were bought by a big hedge fund who is pushing for more and more money. Has nothing to do with developing the product. All too often reviewers just spew. Good stuff and don't tell you about the bad because they're getting the thing for free or whatever. It. I really would love one of these things but I am not getting wrapped up in a subscription. I'll buy an alternative

      This is a review, he is pointing out all the issues not complaining. Super thorough review.

      No, I came here to look at the review for older model because I thought about buying a used one from someone else upgrading. Definitely glad this is up.
