    Fell in love with the charge blade because of your original tutorial. Love the mobility and the power behind the weapon. Now, I'm even more excited to work in the sliding slash to reposition for the super. Keep up the great work! (Hoping the next video is the switch axe tutorial)

      Another decent thing to use with bows is charging with R2 without aiming and using L2 last second for the shot, tends to help you view more of the battle and i think it helps with movement.

    This information about the charging sidestep for the bow will be very helpful and fun. I learned something by accident recently with the Charge Blade: If you guard and have a have another player hit your shield while you block, you can charge the phials without losing sharpness!

    You can use the slide to also inflict status effects faster too! You stay at max charge while dashing and with the aim being held you can hit hard and fast with let's say sleep or paralysis. One of my favorite things to do with bows

    • @Greenley013
      @Greenley013 6 лет назад +1

      You can also use a power shot from the dodge, it won't keep you at max charge but the extra shots are a big help for status buildup.

    Makes sense to cover the gaps and fill in tihs info for all those who aren't watching the livestreams/scrolling through the comments. I do hope in the future once all weapon tutorials are out (and these advanced vids get hidden between hundreds of other videos) you update ithe main video to cover all this info. Even if that means attaching this onto the end (or tagging in each main video that there's bonus info available), it'll allow new players to get the run-down on everything without having to remember/find all the past tutorial videos.

    • @kewa_design

      Berke Gökçe bow makes fast kills easy. The fastest speedruns in solo mode are Made with bow. It deals a Lot of dmg

    • @Greenley013
      @Greenley013 6 лет назад +2

      Berke Gökçe Bows do a charge up shooting more arrows that do more damage in the process.
      At charge 4 (with mighty bow jewel) i shoot around 30-39x3 per shot which amounts to some of the harder hitting melee but without slow swing times and needing to be in the monster's face. This is excluding some of the stupid amount of damage you can pull off with power shots.
      Couple that with coatings and an impact mantle and nothing can fight back.

      in middle of combat u cant normal guard until the current attack animation is over.
      BUT
      if u chain the axe morph attack u can easily guardpoint the incoming attack without wait the end of previously animation + normal guard.
      plus, if u guard some big monster attack with normal guard u cant go in super, until u have guard skill maxed out, but if u do guardpoint even on really big attack u can always go in super.
      so, guardpoint IS a masterpiece to learn for anyone that want walk the CB path.

    There's 2 more things with the biw that I find incredibly helpful
    1. If I don't have earplugs I will initiate fights with the arc shot after what ever I do first so that even when the mister stuns me I'm still doing damage
    2 you can spam circle and the bow will loop the spread shot and the arch shot which can do some incredible stun damage

    • @Greenley013
      @Greenley013 6 лет назад

      #2 is borderline OP, all you need to do is trap/para/KO the monster and spam B (or circle) and profit.

    • @hompnomp8553
      @hompnomp8553 4 года назад

      @@Greenley013 it definitely can be, yes. I try to use this especially on flying monsters as it will knock them out of the sky and knocks them out repeatedly if positioned correctly. Just don't do this when playing with others, it'll trip them up and ruin their combos ;)

    Amazing tips for two of my preferred weapons!
    A quick note about the bow's Dragon Piercer: it's piercing in that it goes all the way through the monster, dealing gradually less damage as it goes, but the damage type is severing, so if your trying to cut the tail do this from behind for a ton of sever damage really quickly.

  • @Xosyaiel
    @Xosyaiel 6 лет назад +3

    Another really good thing to note about the dragon piercer: you can cut tails with it. It's easiest to do on mons with long bodies and large tails (b52, Uragaan, Radobaan) but I've gotten smaller tails as well such as Teostra and Kushala.

    A tip with the bow that I don't think you mentioned in either, having full charge you can press Circle to fire the shot in the air that drops all the rocks and it does more damage, you can also follow the charge Dash with that move. One thing I have noticed if you press Circle the first Power Attack doesn't do anything so what I've taken to doing is pressing R2 for a regular shot then pressing Circle to get a partially charged PowerShot and then Circle again to fire the rain of pellets

    Something for the bow about the dragonpiercer which is incredible useful. Once you're locked in the Piercer animation and changed your camera setting to only focus big monster beforehand. Press R3 right before you shoot and done. You can almost turn 180% degree and still hit it like a truck. This is so rewarding and you won't have to chew your lips because you went in the animation for nothing.
    Hope this was some usefull information.

    There is actually also another good way to perform your Super Amped elemental discharge: Once the indicator is red, Slide away, then Charge the phials and go directly in your SAED. If you re using focus and youre sure that the slash of the sliding slash ist going to Hit, you can also use this to fill the phials from yellow to Red which is even faster then going into another Combo after the charegd circle followed by Triangel.

    The ability to maintain max charge while dashing, and to be able to have the arrows fired at the same location the first volley hits, makes Normal and status application when it comes to Blast, that much better. Spread was good, Pierce was good. This info is what Normal needed to really be as good as the other 2. I'll need to put together a set for Normal, complete with Normal Up, Marathon Runner, Constitution and Charge Level Up(via the jewel) later.

Btw I used the gathering tips and made that set with the king beetle parts... I'm not sure if you mentioned it but that had an extra utility as well. You get research points for gathering some things and u get 2x the points for what u gather since u get multiple gathers...... the rare gathers get around 360 research points for those rare drops and u often get 2 at a time.. I gathered for around 20 mins and got 2.3k in points which is huge since I have done most of my deliveries and bounties net around 150 points. Its the best set in my inventory to date

    For charge blade, in addition to the circle-dash is the guard-hop. After you block an attack or perform an attack of your own, you can hop by pressing a direction and tapping X/A. It takes you a short distance, but keeps your shield up, so as soon as you land, you're back to guarding.

    Been maining bow and I have over 100 hours in the game and I'm still learning new things. Thanks so much for this. Similar to the unlocking with the dragon piercer you can do that as well for normal shots for quick flickshots. So, say you're running around a monster while charging a shot, you can quickly tap L2 to aim in the direction your camera is facing to get off a quick shot while you're on the move.

    Priceless charge blade tip:
    You know how when you play charge blade all you focus on is a cycle: charge phials, charge shield, charge phials, discharge phials, charge phials, discharge phials, charge phials, discharge phials, charge phials, discharge phials, etc.
    Well now ive found an alternative: dont focus on charging and discharging phials. Still charge shield quickly, but then just go through the motions. The phials will charge on their own and you can discharge them, but you still get tons of danage done with a discharge without phials. Sure when they're charged, discharge them, but youll do better attacking damage if you don't stay in SnS until theyre all charged, then discharge and maybe miss, youll do better switching on the fly: monster down? axe it! Monster attacking? SnS it! Monster small? SnS it! Monster big? Axe it! And so on. Obviously don't completely ignore the phials, but only use them wgen theyre charged already and when you have an opening. Your main objecive is killing the monster, not charging your phials, which it was for me until yesterday, and then i killed anjanath twice as fast.
    Oh, and the regular axe Y attack is great for hitting flying monsters or those tails that are just out of reach!

I'm a charge blade vet and it's way more fun morphing the weapon back in forth between sns and axe mode. so many current players are focusing too much on doing the super ultra but missing the fun of axe mode. full phials in axe mode and doing the spinning axe to upward swing infinite combo can do tons of damage on a downed monster

      Really need to get used to doing the Y/triangle axe attack. Normally use mainly the circle swing (don't often SAED unless a huge opening). Also a nice quick way to burn phials without leaving yourself too open. Also downgrading SAED to AED for specific targeting. Though started doing that automatically even when I don't want to.

    Arekkz, guard pointing with L2 + Triangle has quicker block frames mid-combo than blocking.
    This is because it's an attack and flows naturally from any basic combo whereas blocking requires your character to finish active animations.

    Ever since your tutorials, I've taken a huge liking to the bow so thank you for that! :) I can't wait to try out the DPU (DragonPierceUnlock) and the dodge powers hot, without fixing aim? That's just awesome!
    . Just wondering, is the charged arrow + dodge actually counting as an evasion/? Like if I wanted to put some evasion on, would that work?

    Hey Arekkz, awesome video. I've been watching your stuff about mhw since january and i love them, super informative!
    Theres one tip i would like to add for the charge blade, although it may be useless: Compared to the old charge blade in mh4 and mhgen/xx, you can transition into element discharge 1 from shield reload even if you don't actually reload, similarly to how you showed now in the video about amping your sword without reloading the shield. Morhping to axe from reload is also possible!

    Thanks so much for these tutorials and tips. Any pointers with regards to camera management? I'm enjoying IG and Bow but find I'm fighting with the camera as much as the monsters :/ I'm new to this series but sifted online and found some camera options that helped (aim assist off etc.) but I'm still struggling. Not sure if that's worth a workshop plus video or not but I think maybe there is some info that's good for newbs such as myself.

    After loading phials you can shield thrust, and then slide back. It’s a little quicker, does slightly more KO and has more hits for status/element.
    That bow tracking is insane.

    Hi Areckz would the first bow tip (shot at the same target if you don't touch right stick) work on a moving target? Or is it only useful when let say you did take the wyvern down or caught it on a trap? Thank you!

    Something to add to the bow. I've never figured out the specifics but I have cut tails in solo hunts with ranged shots. I've tested this going solo with no palico. It always came off using dragon piercer and I believe it's either effected by charge level or close range coating (or both)

    Maybe for gunlance workshop plus, while fidgeting around with a gunlance in the training area, I discovered that when you do a charged shell attack, you can quickly move the left stick up and/or down to change the direction of the shot, while you move it this seems to reset the time the shot takes to charge so you can basically charge a shelling attack infinitely.. just pointing that out; I don’t remember seeing this fact in the gunlance video but I thought it was quite useful in the case you’re attacking a monster doing a basic triangle combo for example, and sneak in a shell attack, but the monster suddenly changes position like starts flying for example, so you just aim the shell higher to land the hit.

    For Bow - if you lock your target using R3 before you start performing the 1st trick in this video (which is the charge side step hitting the same location) this will solve the problem of you not seeing your target when you go all the way on one side.
    You'll see your target without having to aim or move your camera.
    A good practice would be Shoot monster in a weak spot > charge side step > keep shooting if the monster doesn't change positions.
    If it does > Hit the target again > rinse and repeat.
    The dance for the bow is by far the most fun i've had, i keep doing this and when the monster flinches i throw a dragon pierce it's way
    That dragon pierce tip is awesome though. I'll start practicing that!

    Fun fact about the Bow and Critical Draw. Critical draw works with every hit of dragon piercer as long as you draw into a charge and then fire off the DP.

      It's useful, especially with the bow as even with high rank bows, if the one holding it is a completely newb, you aren't gonna fair well damage and experience wise. I tried the bow without any tutorial as I did with other weapons, and saw that I was missing some core aspect, i then tried a low rank to see how badly I needed to know the aspect and.... I almost ran out of time with a xeno bow on a pukei pukei.... I then looked up a tutorial immediately to find the answer, and learnt I was playing wrongly with the bow and phials I was using (that and I was trying too hard for the stun-lock and not enough for the damage).
      So yeah tldr; low rank helps alot at understanding your faults with unfamiliar moves, weapons, or tactics

    Another quick piercer tip - If you can't shoot head to tail, across the shoulder \ chest is next best. It's a bit fiddly, but you can catch the foreclaws & any wings on both sides, and if you're lucky might clip the head hitbox depending on the monster and it's animations.

    Hey Arekkz, I recently found out something else about the bow! If you hold L2 and dash to perform another charged shot but instead press triangle, you will perform a JUMP attack on the monster that will allow you to mount it! Pretty sure you can also hit triangle after the dash charged shot as well but I'm not 100% on that. Hope you're taking it easy. Really looking forward to the rest of the weapon workshop videos!

    Keep in mind the evade shot tip is not an autolock on to your target. Your arrows will shoot to the last location of your reticle. If your target moves, youll still be firing to the location of your reticle. Assuming your target isnt moving youll probably want to set up for a dragon piercer anyway.

    Hey Arekkz,
    would it be possible for you to do a guide for bow gear, like an overview what skills are usefull in general for bow and what they do. Im playing the german version of MHW and at least in that language its really hard to tell which shots are affected by certain armorskills that boost up like normal shot power shot etc. Cant get an official naming of all bowshots so it really would help a lot. Seeing how they are devided in english would be enough to figure it out/translate it in my own language. And maybe you could show us 1-2 of ur currently most used bowgearsets?
    Thanks!

    Tested it a bit, and the gains from the extra charge seemed negligible.

    Nice vid again @Arekkz, thanks! I was also wondering if you could do a follow-up (deep-dive) video/tutorial on the armour skills. Maybe grouping all skill and do a deep-dive mini series of; all damage oriented talents explained in one vid; and all defence skills in the next vid; same goes for healing and utility skills. That would be awesome, if you could! Thanks 4 all the helpful vids!!

    Another great tip for the CB is that it can be overcharged. As long as the shield is already charged you can stack two SAED's into your phials. So for example: If the monster has been mounted and you can get enough damage to overcharge your phials, you will have two SAED's to use when it topples.

    One thing I think isn't stressed enough with bow is sometimes (I am finding most times) it is more beneficial to have the extra range on the critical area than it is to have the close range damage bonus of the close range coating.
