Thank You for this post. I purchased a new Glock 34 gen. 5 and hope to get back into competition with the newly opened Outpost range here in central Florida. I looked at other posts installing the Burris Fastfire III and your post was the best with camera angle, explanation and step by step instruction. As a new MOS user and installer, Thank You Very Much !
For those thinking of going with the Burris for one it’s the exact same width as a Glock slide and for two the options are slim for sights tall enough to co witness you’ll need the front sight to be .407 and the rear .507 the Ameriglo gl-482,582,682 will work perfectly
To make things clearer to a rookie like me, it would be nice to add something like “For a Burris Fastfire 3, I’m using Glock plate #4, and I’m using the small screws I received with the Fastfire 3 optic.” Again, I’m a rookie at this and it’s easier for me to follow along, knowing exactly what you’re using and installing. Thanks.
I feel your pain with the cost of optics. I purchased an M&P C.O.R.E. 2 yrs. ago and refused to pay $400.00-$600.00 for an optic. I was looking at the Burris (nice, good bang for the buck optic) and discovered the Vortex Venom about a month ago with a lifetime warranty for the + $200.00 dollar range. It was kind of a toss up with the two. My deciding factors were warranty and the Vortex has "just enough" co-witness with the C.O.R.E. Nice video, pistol. and optic . Recent subscriber and enjoy your work, just my 2 cents worth. Thanks
A bit dissatisfied torque specs would be very useful especially a 10mm. What I don't like the screws that bolt the plate down I believe is 15inch lbs. The red dot is usually 25in lbs. But the recoil from 10mm will cause red dot to come loose
Warning before you mount your plate on the Glock,,,,confirm your optic fits the plate,,,, If your screws exceed the width of the plate your screwed, I purchased the vortex venom, which comes with American threads use those screws you will be ordering a new plate. Believe me take your time!!!!! You will need different screws and #1 plate for the venom!!
I just picked up a g40. I love it. I got some ameriaglo suppressor height night sights so when I get an rmr, I can co-witness. I'm hoping to use this gun for hunting at some point. White tail deer mostly.
It's optimal to douse down the mounting plate and cut out surface with brakleen and place a couple drops of loctite in the threaded holes to create a more secure bond.
I have the same sight on my G34, but my working stiff budget is lower than yours, so mine is mounted in the dovetail. Yes, I know what you are thinking. I did away with the superior plastic rear Glock sight! It feels strange to me, though, kind of like I am aiming at the ground when I put the red dot on target. It shoots well, and I have had no problems with the mount. I may spring for one of the new slides in the future if I start shooting it more.
That's what I was hoping he would answer. Mine do not fit my MOS so I used the ones that came with the Glock and they were too long so when I screwed them in the back of the plate started to rise up.
Nice... my talons are on the way...burris next payday...might send it to brazen firearms for 5 slide cuts and the barrel to ryan burrick to polish the barrel... shoots like a dream....
+Jennslife09 Thanks Jenn. No immediate plans, and I haven't seen any aftermarket sights yet (but admit I haven't really looked). Glock offers two sets, neither of which are tall enough to co-witness with the optic. Ameriglo's would be nice!
dawsonprecision.com/copy-of-dawson-precision-glock-42-fixed-carry-sight-set-black-rear-fiber-optic-front-4/ I got their tritium set and love it, can't say enough good things about them. unfortunately I couldn't find them on their site for you...
I noticed that as well - you could definitely tell the screw was slightly canted but he just screwed it in anyway (and then narrated how gentle he was being, lol). 😅 A good rule of thumb with screws is to drop them in and gently press down while turning counter-clockwise (unscrewing) until you hear a click and feel the screw seat - it's a very tactile sensation and ensures that the starting point of both the male and female threads have properly aligned before tightening. Simple, and works every time. 👍
You can pick up a fast fire for 225.00 G40 Gen 4 is about 700.00 This is a great setup for hunting hogs. A lot of that shooting is done in low light conditions. The red dot really helps. I have always preferred to shoot with iron sights but there is definitely a place for a red dot. This is not a gun you would ever conceal carry but it’s a heck of a hunting gun and will drop a black bear, large hog or elk in its tracks. Probably not what I would choose for moose or Brown bears but good for almost anything else.
Thank you for not being afraid of showing how to do things on RUclips. Subbed.

Appreciate that feedback, and although this is a pretty old video, I'll try to include more detail in the future.

Which Burris model optic did you install?
Did you use the screws from the Burris Fastfire to mount to the plate on the Glock?
Looking good, can't wait to see it in action!
+72cmcinc I have a "1st Hundred" video of it posted... check it out. It is a lot of fun to shoot!
Does the G40 come with those 4 plates you mentioned?
Yes, if it's the MOS version.
I just picked up a g40. I love it. I got some ameriaglo suppressor height night sights so when I get an rmr, I can co-witness. I'm hoping to use this gun for hunting at some point. White tail deer mostly.
I am looking forward to getting mine on my 41. Great video!
+Lars Hannity Thanks! G41 is a great gun, will be fun with a red dot.
So did you get one for the G41? and what screws you use if you did?
thanks for the content. just got a G34 and a Primary Arms SLX RS10. looking forward to getting it to the range
Aye man which mounting plate did you use for it?
It's optimal to douse down the mounting plate and cut out surface with brakleen and place a couple drops of loctite in the threaded holes to create a more secure bond.
I love the ducks intro
Hey what screws did you use to mount the Burris to the MOS plate? Did you have to buy special screws?
The purpose of that “TOOL” Glock provides is so you’re not able to over tighten the screws as opposed to using a driver causing potential damage.

Nice. The Burris stuff is not bad at all.
Did you use the screws that came with the MOS plates for the mount and for the optic?
That's what I was hoping he would answer. Mine do not fit my MOS so I used the ones that came with the Glock and they were too long so when I screwed them in the back of the plate started to rise up.
There's a much better plate system out there now in steel versus CH's aluminum.......Forward Control Design's OPF-G, RMR.
am I right, that you don't need to buy new taller sights if you use the Forward Control plate?
Always take the slide off to mount pistol optics
How do you like the Burris?
Do MOS's decrease the life of the gun?
No.
What height suppressor sight should you use to co-witness, if any?
507 makes some solid ones
Thank you very much, it is much more explicit your viewing; the image, it speaks better than the language; thanks again.👍👍👍
nice video, what's your zero? POA=POI at 25 yards?
+oogabooga72 That's what I try for. Got this one zeroed pretty good... but will move it to another gun soon and start over. :)
I thought the screws were supposed to be torqued to a specific value.
Nice... my talons are on the way...burris next payday...might send it to brazen firearms for 5 slide cuts and the barrel to ryan burrick to polish the barrel... shoots like a dream....
warning kids,Burris sent me out lock washers to be used on the screws, you will strip your plate out if you don't use them
Can you see through the rear sight?
as always, great video! Are you going to be changing the sights at all? I would love to know which ones co-witness with red dots on the G40 :-)

What’s the name of the mounting plate you purchased and from where ?
the mounting plates come with the pistol - four of them. they fit most optics.
how wells the venom holding up mounted to the slide
I think you cross threaded the first screw you put in.
Douglas Cook he definitely stripped that. I watched that turn and a half, then. ouch
Most are saying ya about 15” torque.
The first screw you cross threaded it.
Are you using loctite or vibratite?
How did that little bit of blue loctite hold up?
BADASS !!
And now the glock43x
Nice
Horrible design. Won't be long before the screws sheer off from recoil. Also a direct mount is the only way to go
لا لله ألا الله ومحمد رسول الله اللهم صلي على محمد وال محمد سبحان الله وبحمده سبحان الله العظيم....
Is it just me or does this gun either look... (1) Like it is the size of a football or (2) Donald Trump is holding it?
It's a 10mm, therefore, huge. Not for small hands.
It looks like a Glock 40 gen 4
Lost me at “little star wrench”. If you don’t know to call it a Torx bit, or the number of the bit, then I’m moving on.
Bye Felicia!
... lol the sight is worth more than the gun, why bother?
