This is probably something that has an easy answer but what was the Guard doing during Anakins march on the Jedi temple? Were they being transitioned over to protect the emperor or were they marching with the 501st and just obviously never shown. Or were they like keeping the public suppressed during the Jedi temple assault?
As in the movie, the Guard were likely protecting Palpatine following the Jedi 'assassination' attempt on his life. Its unlikely they would have been used to attack the Jedi. Had the Coruscant Guard attacked the Jedi Temple, the mission would have likely failed even with Anakin's lead. Remember how the Shock troopers had such a difficult time trying to capture and later kill Ahsoka Tano, a padawan? While the 501st were frontline troops and had experience fighting force users such as Ventress and Pong Krell.
@@monarchist1838 the Coroscaunt Guard wouldn't have had any more trouble than the 501st. the only reason Ahsoka survived as long as she did was because the Guard was ordered to keep her alive. otherwise Ahsoka would have been blasted with Missles from their LAATS. also, keep in mind that the 501st was never any good against force sensitives as seen when Pong Krell was slaughtering them and when Ventress slaughtered them.
Its flat out stated that Palpatine tasked Anakin and the 501st both to test their loyalty and because Palpatine didn't trust Fox and the guard for such an important mission. Palpatine genuinely believed that the guard would screw up the raid and get killed that's why he sent Vader's fist to do the job. He took no chances. And considering that Fox and his men couldn't kill Ahsoka, Ventress, or even Fives without him being captured and driven insane he had good reason to distrust him. Fox nearly got Vader killed once due to sheer negligence something that finally got him killed.

Or an offworld special force? I'd send the special force, test their loyalty, and expend them, rather than my best troops. Naboo's monarch at least is elected, but most are hereditary, and we know that the Supreme Chancellor is elected by the Senate rather than by Republic citizens and that the senators of most monarchist worlds are appointed by the King/Queen (Alderaan's last two senators were literally the Queen's husband and adopted daughter). So when the citizens of so many Republic worlds have little or no say in who governs them, how is that a democracy?

At the very least, why didn't they clone them on an out-of-the-way moon like Corulag like, you know, how Republic Commandos novels indicated. What was fox supposed to do? Break down after shooting, drop to his knees and plead for forgiveness, or soldier on and go tell Palpatine that his accused attempted assassin was killed? At the moment Fives was seeming to be insane (no one knew he was drugged except we assume Palpatine and the Kaminoian), attempted to kill Palpatine from what Fox knew, was a former fugitive from Kamino Security forces, conducted an illegal surgery on a clone that may have killed him, and was holding a Captain and General captive. In irl MP law, if a suspect is capable of lethal force and showing that they may actually use that lethal force, the the MP is *supposed* to warn them that they will fire (Fox did that, multiple times!) And if the suspect continues to be a threat, then use lethal force to take down the threat. I know that if a mentally unstable fugitive is aiming a weapon capable of lethal force at not just me, but my *brothers*, then I will not hesitate to return with lethality. We have seen in SW that stun doesn't always work on the first try (although typically it doesn't work on bigger species, point remains) so I would not risk the possibility of the stun not reducing the hostile threat to 0. A matter of fact if Fox was more still and not running he would have likely gotten a direct heart shot, which would have been honestly ideal in that situation
Stone and Thire were both commanders of the guard under Fox before Vader killed him, so either of them probably took charge depending on their loyalty to the empire.

No, All are either phase 1 or 2 depending on the time. Coruscant Guard is the whole division’s name, While The Shocktroopers were the subdivision. Kind of like how the 212th were part of the 7th Sky Corp.

Shock troopers already knew about order 66 and everything in my opinion, although obviously I don’t think they were very good in combat. Five+ shock troopers were easily taken out by fives, all be it he was an Arc trooper.
They actually do a pretty good job though we don't get to see much of it on screen. Remember episode 1 a fireteam of them along with Yoda caused major havoc against a battalion.

Blasters have a stun option. Fox chose to use unnecessary lethal force to kill off a very beloved character.

At the moment Fives was seeming to be insane (no one knew he was drugged except we assume Palpatine and the Kaminoian), attempted to kill Palpatine from what Fox knew, was a former fugitive from Kamino Security forces, conducted an illegal surgery on a clone that may have killed him, and was holding a Captain and General captive.
In irl MP law, if a suspect is capable of lethal force and showing that they may actually use that lethal force, the the MP is *supposed* to warn them that they will fire (Fox did that, multiple times!) And if the suspect continues to be a threat, then use lethal force to take down the threat.
I know that if a mentally unstable fugitive is aiming a weapon capable of lethal force at not just me, but my *brothers*, then I will not hesitate to return with lethality. We have seen in SW that stun doesn't always work on the first try (although typically it doesn't work on bigger species, point remains) so I would not risk the possibility of the stun not reducing the hostile threat to 0. A matter of fact if Fox was more still and not running he would have likely gotten a direct heart shot, which would have been honestly ideal in that situation

Stone and Thire were both commanders of the guard under Fox before Vader killed him, so either of them probably took charge depending on their loyalty to the empire.

No, All are either phase 1 or 2 depending on the time. Coruscant Guard is the whole division’s name, While The Shocktroopers were the subdivision.

Count Doggo the guard was split in two units the main guard who stayed on coruscant and the senate security who guarded the senate building and did off world escorts , notable members of that branch included : Thire ( who was later put in command of the whole branch) , Rys , Jek , Stone and Thorn.

Shock troopers already knew about order 66 and everything in my opinion, although obviously I don’t think they were very good in combat. Five+ shock troopers were easily taken out by fives, all be it he was an Arc trooper.
They actually do a pretty good job though we don't get to see much of it on screen. Remember episode 1 a fireteam of them along with Yoda caused major havoc against a battalion.
