You should make a Scenic Rail Playlist, you already have a Unique Rail one but a scenic one would allow viewers to easily locate and access some of the most scenic routes you’ve documented (Such as The Bergensbahn, The various Luxury Swiss Train, The Montenegro - Serbia Train and many others)
The Sargan 8 is one of my favourite narrow gauge railways in Europe. Back in 2015 I was lucky enough to do the little used section of the line into Bosnia-Herzegovinia. We had steam all the way and it must have been the only place in the 21st Centenary where you could do a steam hauled narrow gauge boarder crossing!
This is not an ordinary railway, but a railway museum with a restored museum train and locomotives. It is a mixture of rustic and vitange and it is suposed to look like that. Šarganska osmica is a museum-tourist complex of narrow-gauge railways, restored sections of the former railroad connecting Belgarde with Užice, Višegrad, Sarajevo, Dubrovnik, Zelenika. It is also specific because it makes a figure / shape eight. The railway is categorized as a museum-tourist railway. The museum railway passes through the protected nature park of Mokra Gora and Šargan, which is located on the triple border of the slopes of Zlatibor, Tara and Zlatar, from the top of which "Golo brdo" offers a view towards the canyon of the river Uvac, known for one of the largest sustainable habitats of the griffon vulture. The 25-meter-high Veliki Skakavac waterfall is located on the Kamišna river, which rises on the Zlatibor peak of Viagora, which continues winding towards Mokra Gora, sharing the eighth place among the highest waterfalls in Serbia. Not far from the Mokra Gora station, there is a film village in the ethnic style called Drvengrad, with a view of the station and the Šarganska osmica railway. There is also healing spring Bele Vode. In 2021, Mokra Gora was declared the best and most beautiful tourist village in the world by the World Tourism Organization of the United Nations in Madrid.
Hello, I'm from Bulgaria and I advise you to try the Bulgarian narrow gauge called "Tesnolineikata" train from "Septemvri" to "Dobrinishte" . Its beautifully preserved and they regularly have festive/holiday trains with steam locomotive.
Yes, the Tesnolineika (means 'narrow line') is also really worth a visit. It's still a real railway, run by the national rail company and serving the scattered mountain communities through which it passes, plus the major towns of Vellingrad and Bansko. Like the Šargan Eight it is 760mm (Bosnian gauge) - the UK equivalent is 2.6" (762mm), used by the Sittingbourne railway in Kent and the Welshpool and Llanfair in Wales: I wonder if those are twinned with any continental European railways? Similarly, the Tesnolineika has 4 trains a day (plus an extra for only half the line) - and that's more than there are buses! The full journey is 125km. There is no figure eight, but several loops, twist and turns, and it serves Avramovo, the highest station in the Balkans. Lot's of youtube videos about it.
Aww yea, that railway was a main highlight of my trip back in 2017 or something. Amazing trains, very good views (though the views in Serbia are slightly cooler even).
WHen i was in Uzice in Serbia train track from Belgrade to Sarajevo are converted to pedestrian walk so it was 20km long walk from me with very scenic views
Couldn't help noticing the similarity of Continental Railway Solution's logo with that of the former Pennsylvania Railroad in the USA. (Keystone motif).
I volunteer on a local heritage narrow gauge line with this gauge, would be a good workout for our 100 years old locos. Loved the scenery and the cost is cheap.
You need to have a look at Romanian CFR's new toy, Astlom trains which recently entered service between Bucuresti Nord and Brasov while the final checks are made to comence services from Bucuresti to Constanta. I can asure you from my experience with these new things comfort and to some extent speed are way better
I've taken this one as well :). It's amazing. The stations on this line are not beautifully preserved btw, they are rebuilt. As for getting there btw, I went there by public transit, taking a bus from Sarajevo to Uzice, but convincing the bus driver to make an extra unscheduled stop in Mokra Gora. Thus, while the regularly possible route is bus from Sarajevo/Belgrade to Uzice and then a regional bus to Mokra Gora (which goes twice a day), you may be able to get (at least into) Mokra Gora directly from Sarajevo, as well as Belgrade.
A pitty, you didn't walk into the restaurant in Mokra Gora, the railway based interior is worth a look 😊 the station of Golubici was only build for an Emir Kusturica movie. He's also running a small resort village called Küstendorf uo the mountain in Mokra Gora. I visited it all including a trip on the line to Višegrad in March 2018.
I have never heard of this one but now I would be so excited to get on this train myself, next summer. Plus, while you're right that this is comparatively expensive and the reason being, that this is a maintained tourist attraction, let's also be fair and say: even if this was a commuter train, for tourists, it would still be fairly cheap =)
I have to praise you for your excellently pronounced names in Serbian, which is very rare for Anglo-Saxons. Just improve your accent and no one would notice that you are not from Serbia. :)

What do you expect? These are heritage vehicles. Wooden benches were the norm on all lower-class coaches on secondary routes in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Stunning scenery, absolutely stunning.. 😊😊
I really liked the rustic nature of this heritage railway. Not to mention the quaint carriages and the station at both ends of the line.
Rustic, not dated. 😊 The architectural types is quite impressive. Love the views. Thanks
Narrow gauge railways are the most fun if you ask me. I love them for the rythm of the rough ride.
Awesome compilation
WHen i was in Uzice in Serbia train track from Belgrade to Sarajevo are converted to pedestrian walk so it was 20km long walk from me with very scenic views
Great trip. No matter the locomotive position, the view of driver is limited. Definitely underrated scenic and preserved train route and trip.
Pity the line from Sarajevo to Dubrovnik / Montenegro was closed. Sure it would have been much like this..

Naik train dengan pemandangan yang indah
I was there, so called Drvengrad very nice place.
Boa tarde boa viagem de trem show 1:57 bela paisagem de trem
Looks stunning, shame it's so inaccessible.
Historically the long distance trains along there had restaurant and sleeping cars, astonishingly
If u want to experience scenic narrow gauge train journey, try Kalka-Shimla Railway in India, mostly during winter.
11 bucks isn’t horrible
Edit: a narrow gauge railroad in California is $30 per ticket for out and back run
The vehicles are supposed to be dated, this is borderline a heritage railway.

I remember hearing about this railway line, I was watching a railway document presented by Nick Knowles and he went on that route.
7:00 i think just think that this could have been a mail sorting shelf idk how to call it

It's Tara mountian not Zlatibor.
Should have preserved more of the Bosnian narrow gauge..

Is it Balkan or Europe, make up your mind.
This is quite literally the Most Modern piece of infastructure in Bosnia. Bosnia truely is the worst country in Europe
It's not in Bosnia at all. It's in Serbia.
