Yeah, lot of good memories on this game back from 2006-2010. Used to do the falling furni scam with my buddy way back when. Shit was so easy. Got tons of furni.
Only online computer game I played as a kid was Poptropica, 0 losses in Hoops and Skydiving. I was also obsessed with not having a goofy name so I kept randomizing my character at the start till I got a cool name. If anybody ever remembers losing to a player named Fearless Dragon I apologize. I was very sweaty in Poptropica.
The nostalgia, I remember playing a game called Dofus. It's like a 2D RuneScape. There was no exchange so when people wanted to trade they would be on opposite sides of the map, drop the item on the ground and start walking to the direction to pick them up. That's when 5head players decided to hide behind props (trees, crates, houses, etc...), wait until players moved mid-way and run to the item on the ground before combat logging out. Then obviously the devs introduced an exchange system. You could exchange gold in it too. So 5head players would say "I'm quitting, giving 10% of your gold", you would open the exchange with them, put 100,000 gold, you would see them put 10,000 so you would accept. Except instead of receiving 10% you just gave 90% of your gold.
He says the kids couldn’t have come up with this scam. Nah. Back when RUclipsrs plugged Minecraft severs. The GTA sever was the worst, kids would scam each other in the craziest ways. Taking loads of money from kids parents. They also got kids to buy them the special ranks that cost up to $350. I literally watched eight year olds scam full grown adults out “special” weapons. Kids are wild!
Ah, what a blast from the past, I remember when roblox just launched on 2009 and looked like a very crude Lego/Habbo wanabe but kinda fun in the core, my PC was shit so it never ran, those were the days of the sad but true free2play pay2win games era, lots of dancing/rythm games, social MMOs that tried so hard to emulate Habbo but never succeeded, a ton of half assed broken fps and tps games that made counter strike look like a holy grail, many crude flying and racing free games that were made by people who didn't knew how to fly nor drive using rpg's graphic engines, studios having partnership with cybercafes in order to hold official online tournaments and an ocean of MMORPG's that wanted their part of the cake of the RuneScape/warcraft craze... 2009 marked the difference, that's when AA and AAA studios started to focus on making free2play games, most of them emulating paid (premium) games like battlefield play4free, final world, need for speed world and A.V.A. (a free2play really decent CoD knockoff featuring around 15 game modes including story coop missions/scenarios), that's when all we now know as free2play games like warzone, Fortnite, destiny, PES and genshin impact started.... Man, just for a day I wanna go back, most of the games were horseshit tbh but I want to experience again the part of making friends, make groups with other randoms to enter raids or team up in battlefield or operation 7, fooling around like tomorrow never came I hate to schedule my playtime and friends in order to play 2 matches of warzone and having to deal with toxic dudes or waiting all week long in order to play GTA online just to be greeted by a flying bike constantly killing me
I remember in Sweden years ago there was news about a boy who didn’t understand that the habbo coins cost real money, so his parents got like a 1000$ bill in the mail from habbo suddenly
I costed parents like 200 calling the number at houses. One time the parents found out someone called a sex hot line which was actually just habbo. I was horrible lol
I got raided over this game; very very dark but fun times when I was a kid. These videos do a good job covering a majority of the things going on behind the scenes. There's a lot of undisclosed information I know that haven't been covered. From 2004-2010 was a wild ride. Wish more guys came from out of the scene and spoke on it.
I remember when I was a kid I used this a lot. I always lagged/glitched onto a ledge in the pool or a billboard in the picnic. The club was HC only. I had every badge. Never added anyone as a friend because I felt being dolo was cool and different where everyone else had hundreds of friends. That was a true childhood game. The pedos were like cockroaches. Never had an issue with scams. Wild to think it's really that deep.
When I was a kid some guy that I only knew from Habbo invited me to help with a scam where I pretended to be loaded and take the L, then I'd get paid with the cheap furniture we got from participants who paid out to stay in the game
The "Corporations" are literally MLM schemes, except you don't have to pay to join. You get rewarded for recruiting more people into it Certain ones also allow you to buy more power
Oh runescape scams. I fell for the Alt+F4 one, and once tried droptrading in a corner of lumby but logged in to the wrong spot and watched someone take my 70k. Devastating
When I was a kid I gave my MicroVolts account to a guy who claimed he will give me the best items in the game. Was I scammed? No, that dude literally gave me the best skins in the game and I was the coolest player for a week until my items were removed by the mods. Thank you, stranger!
Social MMO games that have an economy always have people who find out how to scam other. I played Growtopia in 2013 and there were plenty of scams around from games people made up to trick others into paying then banning, fake shops, pay2stay but then get banned anyway, doubling scams, etc. I think it's a great opportunity to teach kids about scams and not trusting everything strangers say online, especially before actual money gets involved. It's really scummy but it's a lesson they will eventually learn someday.
I agree, I got such a good education on the real world from scape that I avoided multiple real life scams/poor investment literally because of the experience I had growing up and being able to "feel" the scam feeling and dodge financial loss irl.
Neopets had shit I mean shiiiiiite loads of scams though out the years, it was fucking insane. Stealing skins, inventories, THE ACTUAL FUCKING ANIMALS THEMSELVES. They were bleeding people dry.
I was like 8 years old when the "Pool has AIDS" thing happened and I was a regular player of Habbo. Being a kid, I thought they were just doing something funny and I copied them and got banned. I kept making new accounts and getting banned. Then I quit playing. Funny memories of the times just before and after that, though. Everyone loved the pool or the lobby, and we'd always wonder if the mods there were real or chat bots. I really liked going to people's apartments and just chilling, which makes sense considering I ended up spending a good half decade of my life doing the same on runescape. Just chilling in people's POH and dungeons, having fashion shows. That was always my favourite part of every MMO I played as a kid. Did it on Phantasy Star Universe as well, with your little room and shop. And the casino in PSU. Man, thank goodness for Runescape and Phantasy Star for feeding my gambling addiction so I didn't end up having to lose real money on it. Kind've funny circling that back around into how gambling killed Habbo and is now such a big issue on Runescape. Anyways, thanks for the nostalgia. Tried playing this game like 2 years ago and it ran at 2 fps no matter what I did and crashed my browser and made my computer blue screen. And now I'm a Hobo who lives in an alley by a Hotel, well okay actually it's a motel, so isn't that just fantasical.
honestly scam was so engraved into this game's culture that even me beying 11 years old back in the day have scammed dozens of players with the help of friends
@MAP PRIDE WORLDWIDE why MAPS are INVALID - A human brain doesn’t fully develop until 21-25, so children under that age have no idea what they are doing, it’s only “in the moment” - a full grown adult doesn’t have no reason to get with someone who still in school. What those adults need is some reconsideration. -Just because romans and Greek did it, doesn’t mean it was a good thing. They also had slaves, were always in war, and look at what their civilization happened. Gone off the earth, only remnants of ancient pass. History does not need to repeat itself. Let children be children and discover what they are themselves by experience with their peers, not a 22 year old man looking to bone.
@MAP PRIDE WORLDWIDE Children don't need to explore their sexuality. Adults shouldn't go for children just because they're easier and convenient. If you want to bone, buy a fleshlight or something. If you want love, put the right effort. Kids are too easy to manipulate to be mature enough for any intimate relation with an adult. Also, don't cyberbully people. Doing this MAP thing while using someone's identity is horrible.
@@a.c.2340 I absolutely abhor pedophilia, but your 1st argument isn't a good one. Legally once youre 18 you are an adult. And even children can be tried as adults given the circumstances.
If I'm not mistaken, Habbo Hotel came out before Runescape Love that you discovered how deep Habbo's history goes... Its truly one of the most interesting games I've researched
Coins were absolutely crucial to gameplay in Habbo. It was mostly a game about trading and building as much wealth as possible. I used Runescape for like a week but it was soo demoralizing being poor again after being the Wolf of Habbo
Dude, those Habbo agencies were hilarious. I spent *hours* a day on them when I was in middle school and worked my way up the ranks because I was an obsessed kid who was constantly given validation for the dumb bs I did as my "job". Grateful for the friends I made, but damn. Any other former USM soldiers out there?
There’s nothing more sad then when you log into your old RuneScape account and look at your old friends list and realize they will never log on again and you’ll never run into them again. It’s sad, when I was younger I was actually crying because I mad like 15 friends and we ALWAYS played together after school for hours, we would get off for dinner and homework, like we all decided to go do all that at the same time and then we all logged back in at the same time. Like how people raid in games nowadays but it was just basic RuneScape. Ah the good ole days, unfortunately we can never go back, or I would.
Was the rulings pretty much: If there is a chain where someons real life money can be transfered down to a digital game currency, then this game currency has equal precedent in legal jurisdiction as real life money; thus making scams, theft, and schemes LEGALLY PUNISHABLE???? I could get that. Especially if there is conversely a way to make real world money off of digital items on a player's end, which completes this game's link to real world economy. Therefor any amount of coercion is tantamount to actual robbery.
Wait until Charlie finds out about "Pool's closed due to AIDS" and Habbo casino scammers. RWTing was more prevalent on Habbo than on RS at the time, and people were spending real life money for Habbo coins through cards at Gamestop and EB Games.
Bro holy shit I remember working as a front desk dude then moving up into a trainer then into HR and every week the owner logs on and gives u some hc and I'd go and spend it on decorating my room... man those were good times
I remember making my own pay to revenge scam, I would have 2 browsers opened and would enter myself as a player while also being the master of the game, so not only I was faster getting to chairs because I knew where I was placing them, I could 100% trust the inside agent as well :D
Does anyone in the UK remember the codes that came on the Caprisuns? A friend of mine in year 6 would dig through the bins to get the empty packs because most people didn't want the code Edit: year 4 not 6
i remember playing on terraria servers when i was 13 and i used to just login to peoples server accounts cause they made their password their username. i had a little notebook full of different accounts i could login to, got boring very fast lol
I haven't heard about habbo in years. I use to work in an agency where we hire people to work there. I got almost 100k credits just working. Man the memories
When I was new to RL I played a couple games with this really nice dude, I'd collected casually a bunch of skins through luck (no idea of value) and had so much fun playing with him at the end after we won a bunch of games and both played really well he suggested I trade with him, he kept saying put more for these red wheels which I thought meant they were super valuable and gave him like £50 worth of stuff at the time. Fucking wheels didn't even spin. I was around 23 lol.
I actually rev scammed in musical chairs when I was 8 with my 10 year old sister, it worked so well and is still one of the best memories of the game. Yes children do come up with this stuff ^^ 3:42 Edit: to clarify, my parents and I think most parents were skeptical of paying for virtual items in the 2000s, so getting anything worth actual money was really cool

I didn't use my account for like a year so they deleted it :/
@@Ekairah I went and gave my account away for 5$ to a buddy of mine. Think it was a year or two later when I got bored with Poptropica.
@@charlesm.2604 Dofus was a really amazing game I played it for years as a kid
@@andrewamen6887 Yeah haha that game made me the man I am today, it's because of this game that I started messing around with programming!
I remember hearing about Habbo once as a kid, but I didn’t care about it. I thought it was a stupid Sims-cross-Roblox ordeal… Boy was I wrong.
Man, just for a day I wanna go back, most of the games were horseshit tbh but I want to experience again the part of making friends, make groups with other randoms to enter raids or team up in battlefield or operation 7, fooling around like tomorrow never came
I hate to schedule my playtime and friends in order to play 2 matches of warzone and having to deal with toxic dudes or waiting all week long in order to play GTA online just to be greeted by a flying bike constantly killing me

Imagine the Sopranos getting in on the Habbo scamming game. Tony and the gang could retire stinking rich before the end of the first season.

When I was a kid I gave my MicroVolts account to a guy who claimed he will give me the best items in the game. Was I scammed? No, that dude literally gave me the best skins in the game and I was the coolest player for a week until my items were removed by the mods. Thank you, stranger!
Habbo was my shit in the late 2000's. Definitely got scammed a few times in the beginning and then became an occasional FF scammer myself.
The infamous fr scamming lmfao. Same with don’t hit my wall and grabbers.
@Wynn Wynn how do you not know? Please nobody tell him, he's gotta find out on his own.
Pool's closed was one of the most kino moments to happen in habbo good times.

@MAP PRIDE WORLDWIDE why MAPS are INVALID
- A human brain doesn’t fully develop until 21-25, so children under that age have no idea what they are doing, it’s only “in the moment”
- a full grown adult doesn’t have no reason to get with someone who still in school.
@MAP PRIDE WORLDWIDE you're fuckin'nuts
@@a.c.2340 I absolutely abhor pedophilia, but your 1st argument isn't a good one. Legally once youre 18 you are an adult. And even children can be tried as adults given the circumstances.

I lost full black, and a rune chainbody to the trust game when I was 10. I’m 27 now.

Was the rulings pretty much:
If there is a chain where someons real life money can be transfered down to a digital game currency, then this game currency has equal precedent in legal jurisdiction as real life money; thus making scams, theft, and schemes LEGALLY PUNISHABLE????
I could get that. Especially if there is conversely a way to make real world money off of digital items on a player's end, which completes this game's link to real world economy. Therefor any amount of coercion is tantamount to actual robbery.
