The Oxford Canal is 78 miles long and links Oxford with Bedworth/Coventry via the major towns of Rugby and Banbury. A number of fishing clubs and associations control the fishing. In the Oxfordshire region, Oxford itself as well as Lower Heyford to Enslow is largely controlled by Oxford & District AA. North Oxford AS control a short length from Oxford to Kidlington. Kidlington AS control much of the water in the Kidlington region. From Fenny Compton through to Heyford is a long length controlled by Banbury & District AA. Much of the fishing is day tickets on the bank, but cheaper if you purchase a book via a local tackle shop.

Jon. On behalf of us all watching your entertaining and technical free to view videos, a big thankyou for all the work you put in to producing them!
A Brilliant Session, Jon .
Glad you enjoyed it
It's amazing how the Roach of all fish when an angler gets a good one it puts a smile on their face.
Again awesome video jon
When I lived in England and had a garden, I would empty the tea pot outside the back door every morning. That pile of tea leaves supplied me with red worms year round and what a bait it is. Very enjoyable video - cheers
Good tip!
I won a junior match on Saturday lovely video John🎣
Awesome video thank you 👍
Glad you enjoyed it Darren
Your singing hasn’t got any better.
PS fantastic roach

Everyone loves my singing!
@@JonArthur name one 😃
thank you for sharing,,, much appreciated
My pleasure!
Great session Jon, makes me wish I was able to fish there and have a session like that
Great swim. I should fish it more as its so close to home
Another lovely video John, you do show us all the technical aspects and explain what you are doing but it always feels like we are fishing with you. You've got a really good style to camera, always giggling to yourself. Always a pleasure to watch a what a fantastic bag of canal bream that was.
It’s good to see a top flight angler pushing more natural venues. For decades focus has moved to muddy puddles, yes it’s provided accessible fishing for all and all the top match men have made decent money from commercial competitions, but that fishing when you were a kid feeling has been lost. I’m not too bothered about anglers pushing products they are sponsored by because we are all tackle tarts at heart, but there is definitely a swing away from commercials beginning to happen. Let’s face it, match fishing started on Natural venues, canals, rivers, lakes etc. Cheers Jon for putting a little something back into the scene. You only have to look at Angling clubs snapping up leases of Canal stretches. The silver fish in these stretches are as big as in commies now. Since COVID. Angling has exploded.
Thanks Jon Arthur for plugging stuff like this.👌
Thanks Steven, I just like mixing things up and could never just fish one venue as I get bored too easily!
Who needs a cupping kit ?😃. That is a brilliant idea..I've used it since I first watched the vid..you can have a pot for each bait,so you know how much you're putting in.👍
Perfect!
Great vlog jon ... 👍
Cheers Lee
I enjoyed that thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
Always a great pleasure see you in action, Jon!!!

Introducing the Jon Arthur Fish buffet pole cupping kit..... you are a legend in your own life time Jon, thinking outside the box, top marks for ingenuity. Fantastic roach on the long line, big roach are always welcome. Great job again Jon.
brilliant vid Jon its amazing that short almost unarranged sessions can be so rewarding ive had a few of them it in the winter when not expecting a good bag and its what you need to keep us going back
You’ve taught me loads of things from your videos, but the quadruple cupping kit is by far the best. 👌. Ha ha.
Glad to hear it!
Thanks for taking the time and effort to make these Jon, I really do enjoy them. Excellent angling and it just shows how under appreciated these cuts are. Hope you’re well mate
Thanks for watching Tom 👍

Quality session on the canal Jon like the way you mix up the venues
Lovely net of fish Jon 👌🏻
What started off as a great advert for canal angling quickly turned into an avert for commercials 😂
😂😂😂
Brilliant Session Jon, not a canal angler myself but a very good video to watch. Nice Bream haul. Well done.

Jon’s face when he lands that roach! What angler doesn’t enjoy a big roach.
Absolutely!
Cracking net of fish for a few hours Jon, looks a lovely bit of canal mate, keep up the good work buddy, love your videos👍🏻
Cheers Bart
Really enjoyed the video, like the pick & mix cupping kit & proper fishing.I forgot my cupping kit one day so cut the bottom off a coke bottle cut two holes in it and like you put it on a top kit worked a treat
Amazing what the UK canal network can produce especially if your prepared and make the effort to get there early.....
Thanks Fishing Adventures
and the music at the end is perfect, i wish you would use it more, 👍👍
49:50 how can you be so calm with the boats …. It did my head in living in Stoke as most of my fishing were on canals in the 1980 s and 1990 s. Then I lived on a narrow boat for 4 years 😂😂😂
You didn't even say anything under 4 pounds is a skimmer ??? No fun aside great fish and nice video now even bigger from a big river that would be the hammer. Thank you very much for your efforts and I hope for more. Greetings from Northern Germany
Cheers Sven 2lb on a canal for me is a bream! In fact 2lb anywhere is a bream, even though we call them skimmers ha ha!
that's true and it's always beautiful fish thank you for all your beautiful videos and if you feel like big bream come to Germany
Now that deserves a blue Peter badge
Looking at your all your pots in a line on your pole makes me think either you or your dad had a Cortina or maybe a Escort with two banks of spot lights !! Lovely watch, cheers.
Another great video Jon shame about the pot but you come up with a good idea. It a shame that not a lot of top anglers do canal fishing. Well done on your fishing.
Thanks Denis
Ive had bream bout 7lb out canal that had me convinced id hooked a carp, bream underated fighter imo
I dont get skimmers/bream, you get the ones that fight all the way to the net, jumping out of the water and all sorts, then you get the lazy ones that just 'eh cant be bovverd' and float in.
Nothing is sold in Canada I have a full set from pill bottles to the bottom of a coke bottle lol all about getting it done. Thanks for the great vids Jon keep em coming
I'm going to cup in like that on my next club match.....just to get into my mate's heads lol
Great upload Jon, that Roach would of made your day, last Tuesday? It was a pleasure meeting yourself and the others. With your access to records, check out match fishing December 1997 magazine. I walked back down the same section Thursday and a couple were catching on Tares. Many thanks again👍👏👏
what a great net of fish jon ive learnt some great stuff of you and still do but i didnt think i would learn the pipes lol is this the end of the cupping kit as we know it lol top man top angler
More tosspots than a Tory party conference. ;)
Great video absolutely love fishing the canal these days! What’s your guide to Dacron connecter sizing so with a 4-6 slik what should you use a small? And when would you use a medium- large
Once again Jon you keep our attention on the fishing such useful information on how to approach various venues.
Thank you for another great video.
Where was the marina you were fishing?
🎣🎣🎣
Great video John. Wish I had some canal in norfolk.
What would you have done differently in a, match
So Jon,when are the new Matrix multiple cupping pots coming out, class
Matrix should bring out a cupping kit adaptor to clip onto your top kit for those who forger the important part Haha!
Nice to see the MTX2 getting a showing (was talked about in your last video) I love mine! But, you match kit with the grey top bit, DIY job?
Jon did a video on spraying his topkits in lockdown last year.
Another nice video Jon.was that the Oxford canal at thrupp
Just down from there at Enslow
Is there a Packington festival edit in the pipeline jon, seen Rob Wooton's edition, nearly as bad weather-wise as your whiteacres battle.... Lol look forward to seeing it 👍
Didn’t film my festival win sadly, or the one I won a month earlier! Always interesting to see what others film and the things they miss out as well ha ha. 👍😉🐟
@@JonArthur keeping your well earned secrets to your success close to your chest, fair play😉😁😎
Did you watch Clive’s vlogs on the Wye winter festival?😛😛😛
Some of it. No bum cracks!
Hi Jon, nice video, why do you count to 3 before striking?, maybe this is why I'm bumping silvers
Just giving the fish time to take a big bait
But did you have that cupping kit in one draw
Jon due to your vlogs I've tried spraying my top kits white/grey just as you do I don't know if it has made a difference to my match fishing but I have had some successes it got me thinking if the idea of spraying a top kit is about not spooking the fish have we not already done that at the cupping in stage? Why don't we spray the cup kit including that pot I see so many different colours and in addition to this what about the toss pots makes me think anything above or near the float area should be sprayed? Would very much like your thoughts on this as I know at your level any advantage can make a difference kind regards Neil
what is the reason for taking the head of a worm please, i use a hole one for bream feeder fishing, or is it different on the pole, 🤔
Juices attract fish
Jon is the pablo floats site down atm do you know
I'm about to go fishing hopefully just into dark so does anyone have any tips for fishing this time of day on a river I will probably ledger with maggots or maybe bread
Find the slack water
the roach was the 3rd fish
What do you have to connect your elastic to line I could not see from a quick glance
He uses Dacron connectors. You can see one at 5:25 on his quad cup top kit.
