Fishing in Holland can be really hard sometimes, but it´s called fishing and not catching. Therefore every fishing day in Holland is a real treat for me.
Oh mate this wasn't a massive true reflection on how it fished but I couldn't really film it all. They are a brilliant set of anglers in a great competition and the site where most people stay if great. I can certainly see why so many of them have been going for so many years!
Will never be as good as when we fished matches on the Voorne in the 90s. Then you needed over 60kilo to win your 6 man section,Ann Pickering ran annual matches on it as well as clubmens matches,its finished being any good 10 years ago.10 years ago they netted the Voorne putting 1,000s lbs of bream on the land for fertiliser. Its finished now,poor Mario at 'De Catfish' he used to get a lot of money out of the lads in the 90s now around 10 go,used to be 30 people fishing club matches from the UK and 80 + fishing Annes opens. All its good for now is a weekend out in Vesting with a few drinks at the pub,even the moats crap these days.I've been fishing matches on tbe Voorne and Spui for 20 years the Halcyon days are well gone,its finished through netting and water abstraction shame it was brilliant in the 80's/90s. Van Shendal does well out of it, he used to do the casters for Emma Pickering,top man on there on our matches were Nick Speed and Wayne Swinscoe.We averaged 80 men a match with Sundays off to let the locals fish their club matches. You could get 60lb under your feet the last hour if you had fed it with 6 big balls the last 2 hours.My pal went on it last year,he's no 'Clampet' fished 4 matches and blanked each day,say no more. Enough to say he wasn't on the ferry last Thursday.All the top match lads used to fish it but sadly no longer.You hit the nail on the head when you said it was a social occasion,that's all it is now. RIP Voorne Canal.
Those are the days I remember hearing about when I was younger. Some of the weights were fantastic and the shear number of Bream in some pegs on occasions was incredible! Def an event I'd like to fish again. The previous 2 weeks had been hit bad with poor weather so we were lucky to get the sunshine :)
CATCH Fishing Channel we have 12 guys going on Thursday for a week fishing 'flyers' ,I will let you know how they faired,hopefully the bream will have cleaned off now if not there's always 'Bar Berjtie' and the coffee shop next to the moat.lol.
Well tried Jamie. It looks like the draw beat you again! I think if you could get a weeks practise beforehand it would help but I know that’s not possible. Better luck next year Tight Lines

I won the section on day 2 and then 3rd on day 3 but as I needed a mega weight day 4 I really went for it and it didn't pay off! Great experience mate and a bit more of a refined approach would def have a caught a few more fish :)

Fished it a few years back and it was nothing like what I had need told, maybe I’m just spoilt by commercials ? I had a good day on the moat but that was about it. Can anyone recommend a good bream lake over there ?

Phil I had those riddles from either Aldi or Lidl they come with 3 different sizes of mesh, for the price they are brill if they had a certain sticker on they be about £25 not £7 and they are stainless steel. Hope that helps Cheers Steve Amison
