For those wondering. Takayama is on the road to recovery. Going through extensive rehabilitation and is able to move about. The mans always had the heart of a champion and is currently bodying his disability like the giant he's always been.
I used to watch these fights, Pride, Toughman, etc...back in the day way before mma or ufc. Lots of bare knuckle shit, guys got seriously fucked up and the refs didnt recognize taps. Blood and teeth had to be wiped up between rounds sometimes. I also watched my uncle fight a chimpanzee for $500. The chimp beat the shit out of him.
Takayama was a badass and had a history of being too tough for his own good. The amount of punishment the guy could take and still remain vertical was incredible, but he had to fight for his life against Don Frye. These guys didn't even try to block.....they just beat the $hit out of each other and didn't care. The best fight in MMA history in my opinion. Thanks for the flashback👍

That's because they don't fight like this anymore. Everyone is looking for the big knockout punch instead of actually standing in there and dogging it out with each other. A lot of the fighters nowadays get knocked out or submitted because they weren't being technical, they want that highlight/viral knockout video and get caught slipping
