Saying positive thing is a good thing but saying a bad thing about this game too is also a good thing. We definitely know for sure that this game is a cash grab from CC2. Only 10 new characters + 5 dlcs, and not even a free dlc confirmed this. Also a non faithful dub and same whacky animations compared to the previous game made the fans think that this isn't CC2. Now that we know Demon slayer 2 is on the work, it's basically confirmed that the one that working on Connection isn't the same team from Storm 4. This is most likely from their second or even third team
I got this game on pre-order and enjoyed the hell out of it Before this game, I used to play Storm 4 non-stop just doing random battles against the CPU with the maximum handicap Now the battle system is way more fun to engage, I never feel like I get a bad character when I hit random, because everyone got some sauce, and the handicap is actually so brutal that it gives some challenge for once. Even my best friend, who was never that big of a fan of Naruto Storm and always preferred Dragon Ball BT3, enjoyed playing this game with me for a very long time My only gripe is that the economy seems a little broken compared to the older games. By now, I should have all costumes and alternative colors and every customization item with how much I played, but even after getting all the achievements, I still only have like 25% of the in game store. If it was any other storm game, I would have everything already and would be almost max currency. But that aside, I think Storm Connections is the better game, just released on a really poor timing, with the wrong expectations and a big price tag that doesn't justify itself

I enjoy this game way more than Storm 4. This game had a rough launch, but after patches, it is shaping up to be the definitive Naruto Storm experience. The game comes with so many quality of life changes, including better controller support, character and profile customization, 60 FPS, slightly better net code, and events. The game also has the most viable roster in the whole franchise. Storm 4 has a small group of characters that you can use and be able to compete with. In Storm Connections, you can almost use any character and have a chance to win thanks to the changes in combo mechanics and tweaked movesets of each character. Switch tech is also more of an option in this game compared to Storm 4, where if you didn't know how to do switch tech and your opponent did, you were basically cooked. A lot of switch tech can be found as in game glitches, which can be hard to learn since the game doesn't teach you them in the tutorials. This game allows many play styles to be played. The best part about this game is simply the fact that it's a breath of fresh air. This is the only storm game that gets support such as updates, patches, and DLC. Storm 4 is almost 10 years old and doesn't get updated anymore, nor does it get any new characters unless you get mods that import connection characters to Storm 4, but that will remove you from the base game player base since your opponent will also need the mod to play against you. CC2 promised to support this game for the next few years and hinted at a Season Pass 2 coming in the future. The only reason people buy Storm 4 over Connections is simply because of the price. Its common sense to get the game that goes on sale almost every month for $5 compared to the game that is full priced. People who call this game DLC must not be familiar with the Storm franchise, as every Storm game is fairly similar to each other besides the story modes and new characters it adds. Also, this game is an in-between game and not a game with a number in the title. In between games such as Generations, Revolutions, and now Connections focus on fan service, gameplay mechanics, and adding fun content to the game. The storm games with numbers in the title, such as 1, 2, 3, and 4, focus on adding story mode and core elements. I will recommend connections to people who want the newest storm experience and simply care for the characters and gameplay of the game. If you are a single play story mode type person I would recommend the storm trilogy.

Another difference from in-between games generations and revolution they were better than connections imo due to the reasons i will provide. Generations were considered the most balanced and diverse due to the many options you have for defense and aggressive play, and the game had chess like mechanics. Rev had endless and tournaments lobbies available at launch. I didn't like the game due to the dumb counters and support drive change those you Gucci it had similar plan to storm 3 which provided depth to players who liked it. But everything I agree with, although, one criticism 😔 we sadly is connections should've delayed due to the launch be mid.

Honestly as much as I love the storm games I think you're right about the "Where do we go from here?" sentiment. I think if anything we might get a Storm 5 but I really think it's time for a new Naruto game to come and take stage whether it's a switch up on an arena fighter or something else. Ngl I've always wanted another entry in the Path of Ninja series or at least a spiritual successor
Alot of people are tired of the same formula, they haven't really added anything and they took out a ton of mechanics as well. The voices don't sound authentic and the game is essentially a near copy and paste from the previous game. They also didn't really add much characters compared their previous games they didn't even add merz or nanashi which they basically marketed as we might play those characters. I really like the speed of this game and I also think it makes it more easier and flexible to watch content wise. And instead of releasing characters from naruto as dlc, they could also release characters from their other titles like they did for storm 2. They need to add different game modes, like a clan feature which the communities loves to engage in. What about rank resets that give rewards for reaching different ranks a season? They can also go through more of a character aesthetic route and even add characters from their previous IPs. Add klonda or something something that they own for dlc. There's so much they can do for storm content but why do it when all bandai wants to do is make $$ then run off. Their marketing wasn't even good really.

I was into the election moderately and also with simultaneously catching up on the anime cuz I haven't watched since the end of Shippuden. So I wanted to have not only teams be in unison but make sense too. My conclusion is the game is a solid 8.5 or 8.8 to me strictly off of gameplay not including the story which is obviously mediocre at best. I like how you can do all types of movesets and have different types of each character from different generations if they are long-term especially. Each of their newer / or older versions have the same movesets just stacked with newer abilities on top of the old ones which is exactly what the anime does. Only thing I don't like is everybody shares the same health bar would be extra lit if everybody each had their own health bar. That would make it at 9 or 9.5 alone to me in my opinion. Naruto's strongest form Byron mode or something of that nature is a beast!!! Even with no experience I was winning with him as a main factor and also watching some computer verse computer matches to determine the same thing.
Not only Boruto characters could be added but Naruto`s as well. I really hope we get Anko and Shizune and the other supports only characters from previous storms and we get Boruto characters in a Storm 5 with a story mode of part 1 Boruto (or a rebooted story mode of Naruto, beign more complete then the previous ones lmao, id love that, cuz i really dont care about Boruto much).
The thing is this game isnt bad. They just made alot and I mean ALOT of really weird gameplay adjustments that in the longterm really soured the online experience. Granted these changes are easily chargeable the fact that it happened is ridiculous. With that being said the game is in a significantly better state then when it released. But still not in a good of a state as revolution in its current state now which is still the best game in the series.

@@James-ox7wo I know about the others but what do you mean with infinite counters? And what do you mean supports having health? The health bar has always been shared. Also not all the second jutsus’s are tilts and they even behave differently now. Like how Kakashi’s kamui was set to only be infront of him but now tracks the opponent and appears on there spot (also im happy tilts are gone because my friends could never pull them off and they always felt like free jutsu which just isn’t fair) And the storm gauge no longer meaning also confuses me. Is it because the charge block doesn’t happen all the time and now requires the storm gauge to be halfway?
@randomgamer625 In Storm Revolution and Storm 4 when you countered your Chakra bar was shaved off and had to be replenished. So if you continuously used counters mindlessly you'd have next to no Chakra. And before Storm 4 both of your support characters had a health bar. If they got hit too much they would either be permanently gone (Storm 3) or temporarily unavailable (Revolution). And by Storm gague I mean how now since you can switch CC2 took away a lot of the support actions when the Storm bar is complete. Balance types using Chakara Shuriken (which was removed awhile ago), strike types coming onto the field for a hit upon a combo connection, etc.

All I know is that from storm 3 to connections you can hit a support and it will cancel there attack and put them on cool down Oh but are support attacks still here in the form of those ultimate subtitude abilities and guard guys? I’d say it’s better than 4 in that sense too since they only appear when the gauge is full and thus you aren’t having your Chakara dash blocked all the time like in 4
I was playing Storm 4 so much so was very excited for this game, love it, my one gripe is they could have started Part 1 of Boruto's story and I was expecting some more Boruto class characters. I mean come! You fight Shikadai in storm 4 Boruto story so they have the build!
I was never a Naruto fan but the Ninja Storm games have a great visual style. I've seen a lot of people consider this to be a downgrade from Storm 4, why is this the case? I only plan on getting one game from the series and Boruto (not the game, the anime/manga) strikes me as a bit of a cashgrab so I wanna see if the game has genuine flaws that would make it worse for casual play, at least according to fans of the series.
I'd definitely get more perspectives on this! A lot of the issues seemed to be around launch, but I personally didn't have any of those issues. The previous games have slightly different offerings and go into more depth on certain story moments, but as someone who has seen the story retold over countless games now, I think Connections does a great job covering everything.
I think it was the balancing, and the lack of endless and tournaments, that strike a sour taste in people's mouths, also at a competitive level, the system felt like a degrade.
Good video but man I’ll never forgive Bandai and cc2 for the launch of this game. Xbox servers literally didn’t work for almost two months, took out the 60 fps search filter for online, couldn’t play with friends at launch, etc. game is definitely better now but still has broken netcode and broken custom lobbies unfortunately

i think its a good game and in terms of sheer content like its roster and online, its the best in the series, but the gap between storm 4 and connections would imply far more content than what we got, it introduced the least amount of characters in the franchise, with 10. i think if something like this released a year or so after storm 4 the reception would have been different. that being said the developers creating an original story to attract new fans to boruto over just adapting the manga/anime is wild to me.
To me as someone who played storm competitively, the fact that it wasn't launching with no endless or tournaments was a way to kill your game since ppl do want to play with friends, and I like the story, but what you said wouldn't be true, because the initial backlash started due to presentation and as the game was further and more news came out about the online being lackluster was the metaphorical straw there . I think if it was a year expansion with no lobbies than ppl would have protested still.
@@cubearts1 how so? Online server wise, the servers does lag, does misinputs, does make fake fights it's not dedicated or rollback netcode which those are superior to p2p servers.

I haven't played one of these games in a long time but they added a simple mode? a simple mode? How barebones and basic do you want the game to be? like do you actually want to play the game or do you really just want to see the CPU generate its own unique fights with the characters?
Interesting how you really enjoyed this one, I found it to be pretty dull then again I only played the Ninja History Mode and found it disappointing, I get that they couldn't cover everything in full but it felt lazy, how it uses still shots from the anime and how it reuses set pieces from Storm 2-4. Not touching the Boruto stuff since that series is nothing more than a cash grab.
I like this game. However, I feel like it's the weakest entry in the series, with the least amount of unique things to do. Taking out the free roaming aspect was a huge loss. I know Generations also did, however Generations had original animation that expanded the narrative in a meaningful way. Revolution brought us the customization, but we saw it in the free roam, adding to the cool factor. Lastly, I hate preselect teams before matches online. I like it as an option, just not the ONLY option.

I think it depends on whether you're interested in playing online, accessing new characters, and the like. I personally think it is, but I also don't play the games online all that much 😅
I feel like this game only appeals to online PVP. I'd buy it if it had a proper story mode. Where you run around the different areas, do missions with RPG-like elements, mini games, etc. Like the older games had. There's nothing to do in this game besides just regular fighting. No variety to keep me invested. As someone who doesn't care for the story of Boruto, i haven't watched/read it. But if the game atleast did cover it and you got to run around and do stuff as Boruto, i'd probably have bought it.

I've been playing since Generations. Connections is my favorite Storm game with the huge amount of offline modes and absolutely massive character and stage roster. The Switch version is extremely impressive.
Honestly, this game never really interested me. Most of the new content is either Boruto related, which I dropped a while back, or related to the Otsutsuki clan, whom I never found that interesting. There were a hand full of part 1 characters who were playable in the old platform fighters that never made it to Storm, and one of them made it in as DLC, so I’ve been just kinda waiting to see if the others make it into future seasons. If so, I’ll probably get it then, for the whole “Everyone is Here” Smash Ultimate moment.
i am sorry but i disagree the roster is terrible when I think about a good naruto storm roster I don't think the same characters over and over again also I don't like how they removed the story mode in favor of a powerpoint slideshow they removed a lot of the major fights as well while they advertised the game as the ultimate definitive storm game I played it close to launch and I wasn't impressed
@@Niosai the character repeats when looking at the roster for the first time I was really disappointed that there were like 4 or 5 versions of naruto and sasuke with even the other characters getting a young version I believe that this should have been handled differently since it just bloats the roster and makes it harder to find your favorite characters

@@Ghozts2 minus the Naruto's, Sasuke's and Boruto's. There's 2 of everyone from the konoha 11 with the exact same moveset. They wanted to give the illusion of more characters than there actually is. Two garras, two kankuro, two shikamarus, two choji, two ino, two Hinata, two kiba etc etc all the same in every way but appearance. Those are called skins, like they were in Storm 4. It's was a flat out lie. We got no one from Boruto's gen, still no movie villains like Toneri, even Isshiki wasn't base game, and he died two years prior to the game releasing. It was in my opinion the worst roster, plus the worst roster reveal.

For me, don't like it😅. You can't explore the world like explore new konoha village, and visit new hidden mist village. History mode, instead just picture like screenshot, it's better if they use clip cutscene from anime and one of them i notice they only put screenshot Granny Chiyo and Sakura vs Sasori instead actual combat like in Storm 2. Some character not include playable from Boruto era like adult konohamaru, Iwabe, Sumire, Wasabi, Himawari, Mirai sarutobi, Shinki, Kagura, new team InoShikaCho team. There's 'Kara' group character playable but don't have chapter story. Maybe next game 'Naruto Storm 5'.
I still dont like the game for how its story mode is just a glorified Powerpoint presentation and not a quality-made Kakarot-like recap of every canon plot stories in the entire Naruto manga, which it should've been in order to utilize the power of the current gen console where the game is being released at.
I like the game a lot, still play it whenever there’s new DLC. Wish they’d adapt the Boruto part one manga as a story mode since I’m not sure they’re still on the decision of no more Storm games. We’re getting the characters from that manga, but no context or adaptation for them.

I think if anything we might get a Storm 5 but I really think it's time for a new Naruto game to come and take stage whether it's a switch up on an arena fighter or something else. Ngl I've always wanted another entry in the Path of Ninja series or at least a spiritual successor

Small correction; substitution and guard are different buttons
Alot of people are tired of the same formula, they haven't really added anything and they took out a ton of mechanics as well. The voices don't sound authentic and the game is essentially a near copy and paste from the previous game. They also didn't really add much characters compared their previous games they didn't even add merz or nanashi which they basically marketed as we might play those characters. I really like the speed of this game and I also think it makes it more easier and flexible to watch content wise. And instead of releasing characters from naruto as dlc, they could also release characters from their other titles like they did for storm 2. They need to add different game modes, like a clan feature which the communities loves to engage in. What about rank resets that give rewards for reaching different ranks a season? They can also go through more of a character aesthetic route and even add characters from their previous IPs. Add klonda or something something that they own for dlc.
There's so much they can do for storm content but why do it when all bandai wants to do is make $$ then run off. Their marketing wasn't even good really.
I personally love the qte, it makes me more invested in what’s happening on screen because I can’t look away

@muctar3441 sorry for the late reply man I wasn't ignoring you!! I was into the election moderately and also with simultaneously catching up on the anime cuz I haven't watched since the end of Shippuden. So I wanted to have not only teams be in unison but make sense too. My conclusion is the game is a solid 8.5 or 8.8 to me strictly off of gameplay not including the story which is obviously mediocre at best. I like how you can do all types of movesets and have different types of each character from different generations if they are long-term especially. Each of their newer / or older versions have the same movesets just stacked with newer abilities on top of the old ones which is exactly what the anime does. Only thing I don't like is everybody shares the same health bar would be extra lit if everybody each had their own health bar. That would make it at 9 or 9.5 alone to me in my opinion. Naruto's strongest form Byron mode or something of that nature is a beast!!! Even with no experience I was winning with him as a main factor and also watching some computer verse computer matches to determine the same thing.
One thing I'd love if they'd change would be to not have shared health/chakra in team battles.
Not only Boruto characters could be added but Naruto`s as well. I really hope we get Anko and Shizune and the other supports only characters from previous storms and we get Boruto characters in a Storm 5 with a story mode of part 1 Boruto (or a rebooted story mode of Naruto, beign more complete then the previous ones lmao, id love that, cuz i really dont care about Boruto much).

The thing is this game isnt bad. They just made alot and I mean ALOT of really weird gameplay adjustments that in the longterm really soured the online experience. Granted these changes are easily chargeable the fact that it happened is ridiculous.
With that being said the game is in a significantly better state then when it released. But still not in a good of a state as revolution in its current state now which is still the best game in the series.

@randomgamer625 Infinite Items, Infinite Counter with no penalty, subs no longer regain from damage received, the terrible change of supports no longer having health that storm 4 introduced, the removal of tilts and packaging them as "second Justsu, storm gauge no longer having a meaning due to storm 4 change of support variety.
The combination of this games changes and storm 4 changes collectively are bad
@@James-ox7wo I know about the others but what do you mean with infinite counters? And what do you mean supports having health? The health bar has always been shared. Also not all the second jutsus’s are tilts and they even behave differently now. Like how Kakashi’s kamui was set to only be infront of him but now tracks the opponent and appears on there spot (also im happy tilts are gone because my friends could never pull them off and they always felt like free jutsu which just isn’t fair)
And the storm gauge no longer meaning also confuses me. Is it because the charge block doesn’t happen all the time and now requires the storm gauge to be halfway?
@randomgamer625 In Storm Revolution and Storm 4 when you countered your Chakra bar was shaved off and had to be replenished. So if you continuously used counters mindlessly you'd have next to no Chakra. And before Storm 4 both of your support characters had a health bar. If they got hit too much they would either be permanently gone (Storm 3) or temporarily unavailable (Revolution).
And by Storm gague I mean how now since you can switch CC2 took away a lot of the support actions when the Storm bar is complete. Balance types using Chakara Shuriken (which was removed awhile ago), strike types coming onto the field for a hit upon a combo connection, etc.
@@James-ox7wo But there was no character switching in storm 3 and revolution. How did they have a health bar? All I know is that from storm 3 to connections you can hit a support and it will cancel there attack and put them on cool down
Oh but are support attacks still here in the form of those ultimate subtitude abilities and guard guys? I’d say it’s better than 4 in that sense too since they only appear when the gauge is full and thus you aren’t having your Chakara dash blocked all the time like in 4
I was playing Storm 4 so much so was very excited for this game, love it, my one gripe is they could have started Part 1 of Boruto's story and I was expecting some more Boruto class characters. I mean come! You fight Shikadai in storm 4 Boruto story so they have the build!

I was never a Naruto fan but the Ninja Storm games have a great visual style. I've seen a lot of people consider this to be a downgrade from Storm 4, why is this the case?
I only plan on getting one game from the series and Boruto (not the game, the anime/manga) strikes me as a bit of a cashgrab so I wanna see if the game has genuine flaws that would make it worse for casual play, at least according to fans of the series.
I'd definitely get more perspectives on this! A lot of the issues seemed to be around launch, but I personally didn't have any of those issues. The previous games have slightly different offerings and go into more depth on certain story moments, but as someone who has seen the story retold over countless games now, I think Connections does a great job covering everything.
I think it was the balancing, and the lack of endless and tournaments, that strike a sour taste in people's mouths, also at a competitive level, the system felt like a degrade.
Good video but man I’ll never forgive Bandai and cc2 for the launch of this game. Xbox servers literally didn’t work for almost two months, took out the 60 fps search filter for online, couldn’t play with friends at launch, etc. game is definitely better now but still has broken netcode and broken custom lobbies unfortunately

i think its a good game and in terms of sheer content like its roster and online, its the best in the series, but the gap between storm 4 and connections would imply far more content than what we got, it introduced the least amount of characters in the franchise, with 10. i think if something like this released a year or so after storm 4 the reception would have been different. that being said the developers creating an original story to attract new fans to boruto over just adapting the manga/anime is wild to me.
To me as someone who played storm competitively, the fact that it wasn't launching with no endless or tournaments was a way to kill your game since ppl do want to play with friends, and I like the story, but what you said wouldn't be true, because the initial backlash started due to presentation and as the game was further and more news came out about the online being lackluster was the metaphorical straw there . I think if it was a year expansion with no lobbies than ppl would have protested still.

I haven't played one of these games in a long time but they added a simple mode? a simple mode? How barebones and basic do you want the game to be? like do you actually want to play the game or do you really just want to see the CPU generate its own unique fights with the characters?

Interesting how you really enjoyed this one, I found it to be pretty dull then again I only played the Ninja History Mode and found it disappointing, I get that they couldn't cover everything in full but it felt lazy, how it uses still shots from the anime and how it reuses set pieces from Storm 2-4. Not touching the Boruto stuff since that series is nothing more than a cash grab.
I like this game. However, I feel like it's the weakest entry in the series, with the least amount of unique things to do.
Taking out the free roaming aspect was a huge loss. I know Generations also did, however Generations had original animation that expanded the narrative in a meaningful way.
Revolution brought us the customization, but we saw it in the free roam, adding to the cool factor.
Lastly, I hate preselect teams before matches online. I like it as an option, just not the ONLY option.
Quite fair especially comp wise this game feels too simple compared to the last entries

I'll be honest: I went into it expecting to not like it based on things I'd read and seen online, but I genuinely enjoy this game! However, I'm aware that my tastes don't always align with a lot of others so I respect all opinions :)

I think it depends on whether you're interested in playing online, accessing new characters, and the like. I personally think it is, but I also don't play the games online all that much 😅
I feel like this game only appeals to online PVP. I'd buy it if it had a proper story mode. Where you run around the different areas, do missions with RPG-like elements, mini games, etc. Like the older games had. There's nothing to do in this game besides just regular fighting. No variety to keep me invested. As someone who doesn't care for the story of Boruto, i haven't watched/read it. But if the game atleast did cover it and you got to run around and do stuff as Boruto, i'd probably have bought it.

I've been playing since Generations. Connections is my favorite Storm game with the huge amount of offline modes and absolutely massive character and stage roster. The Switch version is extremely impressive.

Honestly, this game never really interested me. Most of the new content is either Boruto related, which I dropped a while back, or related to the Otsutsuki clan, whom I never found that interesting. There were a hand full of part 1 characters who were playable in the old platform fighters that never made it to Storm, and one of them made it in as DLC, so I’ve been just kinda waiting to see if the others make it into future seasons. If so, I’ll probably get it then, for the whole “Everyone is Here” Smash Ultimate moment.

when looking at the roster for the first time I was really disappointed that there were like 4 or 5 versions of naruto and sasuke with even the other characters getting a young version I believe that this should have been handled differently since it just bloats the roster and makes it harder to find your favorite characters
Even though i agree that we rlly dont need 8 Naruto's and 8 Sasuke's and that they can just put all of that into one character, this is the best Roster a Naruto game ever had
@@Ghozts2 minus the Naruto's, Sasuke's and Boruto's. There's 2 of everyone from the konoha 11 with the exact same moveset. They wanted to give the illusion of more characters than there actually is. Two garras, two kankuro, two shikamarus, two choji, two ino, two Hinata, two kiba etc etc all the same in every way but appearance. Those are called skins, like they were in Storm 4. It's was a flat out lie. We got no one from Boruto's gen, still no movie villains like Toneri, even Isshiki wasn't base game, and he died two years prior to the game releasing. It was in my opinion the worst roster, plus the worst roster reveal.

For me, don't like it😅. You can't explore the world like explore new konoha village, and visit new hidden mist village. History mode, instead just picture like screenshot, it's better if they use clip cutscene from anime and one of them i notice they only put screenshot Granny Chiyo and Sakura vs Sasori instead actual combat like in Storm 2. Some character not include playable from Boruto era like adult konohamaru, Iwabe, Sumire, Wasabi, Himawari, Mirai sarutobi, Shinki, Kagura, new team InoShikaCho team. There's 'Kara' group character playable but don't have chapter story. Maybe next game 'Naruto Storm 5'.

I like the game a lot, still play it whenever there’s new DLC. Wish they’d adapt the Boruto part one manga as a story mode since I’m not sure they’re still on the decision of no more Storm games. We’re getting the characters from that manga, but no context or adaptation for them.
