there is literally no series i would want to come back as bad as this one. I still play clash 4 and rev3 with friends. The storm series just isn't that fun compared to these games and i have played them both a ton. I think just not a lot of people saw them considering they were only on GC and Wii. I think the switch at least would have more players.
After seeing the new Storm disappoint a lot of people, there's definitely no better time for Clash of Ninja to make a comeback than now in my opinion. The developer Eighting is still around, too!
It should also be said that namco bandai has stated that if there is enough interest, they will bring the series back. The thing is though, there needs to be at least a couple of big naruto game youtubers that are on friendly terms with namco supporting it as well. that will prove that it is financially viable to bring the series back
I would also mention that, the buffs unlockables from the shop in Clash of Ninja 2 and later on aren’t really buffs for the story mode or other modes, but rather handicap equips you can use in the multiplayer and Versus mode if you wished to. Like if you wanted the chakra to be unlimited for both characters, just equip and go ham with it for a match or two. Just wanted to point it out!

This is a pretty good video, I've always thought about making a video on the entire series because I played it to death since I was a kid. I just never really had the means. I do wanna add a few things you missed though. -Characters have had multiple specials/transformations since Clash of Ninja 2 they just separated most of them for some reason. Rock Lee can open some of the eight gates and use the Hidden Lotus. Sharingan Sasuke also has a phoenix flower jutsu special for his secondary which can be used while jumping for 75% chakra. -4 player free for all/2v2 / 1v3 modes have been in the game since 2. I just believe the former only appears in the multi player mode as there aren't any free for alls in the story mode. -GNT3 introduces everyone having a secondary special of some kind (idk if joke characters like Crow and Akamaru do) most are done by pressing down + x -GNT3 is the only game that actually have desperation specials. Team attacks can be done by pressing forward + x and use up all 3 chakra bars. They do a don of damage, some of the characters have team specific specials. like Team 7, the Sannin, Team Sharingan with Itachi, Sasuke, Kakashi, ect. -GNT 4 also adds multiple new perspectives for special moves, Naruto's Uzumaki barrage has 3 variations that all look completely different. -In GNT 4 you can switch out for 25%, but escaping from a combo takes a substitutions worth of chakra. -Waggle in Revolution just adds damage. -I'm sure you'll cover it, but all the added stuff in Revolution, like stage transitions and obstacles are just things that were in the EX games as this is just a PTS game running on the EX engine. This is why 3v3 modes was removed, they were never in EX they had a 2v2 mode which is in Rev2. I know it's a lot and I'm being nit picky but I thought those were worth mentioning.
From GNT4 onwards they added a mechanic where you can cancel a move for 25% chakra in which your character will flash and you can extend your combo further akin to a roman cancel in Guilty Gear

I came here to find someone making this comment lol. I grew up playing Clash of Ninja 2 as a child and still own a copy for my gamecube. I now mainly play Gekitou Ninja Taisen 4 since I've got a freeloader and can order japanese games as an adult, but I knew for a fact that that was around in 2.
I have bad news for you. The clash of ninja games have DS counterparts in form of the Naruto Ninja Destiny games... Have fun (I realy liked those as a child)
I have actually played a couple of those and while they are similar in presentation to Clash of Ninja, I think I'd consider them as their own series to cover sometime. :)
24:37 That’s because Revolution runs on EX’s engine. They had to remake the characters from scratch, alongside working on the EX series and their characters. It wasn’t a simple copy/paste job that fans, even to this day, still believe was all they would have to do. If that were the case, all characters and stages from CoN 1 onwards (possibly excluding the PTS versions of existing characters) would’ve at least been in GNT Special by that point. The Ninja Destiny series kept all of their characters, PTS and TS, because they were all released on the DS. Minato in GNT Special actually got most of his Ninja Destiny moveset.
That stage transition from clash of ninja and the wall fighting from ultimate ninja should have been consistently added to the storm games making the fights more real
YES, PLEEEEAASE try the Ninja Council games, they're god tier. Or at least they were to me when I first played them as a kid. I wish it had continued as a series all the way to the end of the story, it was awesome.
Clash of Ninja was definitely one of the many games I had enjoyed throughout my childhood. So much that there was a whole tournament near where my relatives lived. They were using GNT4 and legit banned players using Itachi because he was considered to OP. I ended up playing as Kisame and for my first time playing him, since this is the GNT version, i was doing a good job and the store owner that hosted the tournament ended up calling me Kisame lol. I felt really happy for playing in the tournament, I didn't win but it definitely made me love Naruto even more.
There was a gameplay feature added that I don’t think was mentioned in this video. This feature actually made the Clash of Ninja series some of my favorite fighting games of all time; Y Cancelling. Added in Gekitou Ninja Taisen 3 (I think), Y Cancelling allows you to string together combos. If your character knocks the opponent into the air while you’re still on the ground, you can hit Y to reset your character back to idle, allowing you to immediately start another combo. This made characters like Naruto, Sasuke, Rock Lee, Asuma etc extremely fun to play as. With Asuma for example, I was able to string attack, attack, attack, cancel, attack, attack, attack, cancel again, jump, air grab, throw shuriken. It added a really cool layer of depth that took the series from being just a basic fighter to something truly demanding skill and a genuine smash bros competitor on the Wii.
I am always amazed how much work you put in your "I played every..." series. So many in depth details and you even dive in versions, that are not in English. Can"t wait for the 2nd. episode. 👍🤘
Thank you for reviewing this series, It means a lot that this series is getting love, I will say that you left out some mechanical features to GNT 3 and 4. Like combo Cancels, 3 v 3 team specials and more about switch in mechanics GNT 4, dual specials being granted to about every character by GNT 4, Critical Supers from GNT 3. You said that mechanics are the same in every game, however it's these small things, even in game coding things like health percentages for every character, that makes the competitive Scene exist for 4 to this day, and I think deserves a bit more recognition for how I depth it was. Again tho, this is great that these videos exist. I'm not a big fan of the storm games as it's more of flash and presentation. GNT is a real fighting game, the concern for cinematics was never that big because the series was more concerned about getting you back to the fight, as these games were based off of the Bloody Roar engine. I love this series
Something I remember blowing my mind as a kid- in Clash of Ninja 1 (and onward through the series I think) Kakashi can use Sharingan to copy anyone’s special attack.
clash of ninja 2 was one of the few games i owned for my gamecube as well as being the first fighting game i owned i remember not having a memory card so everytime i played the game, i tried to speedrun the game so i could get the points to unlock Akamaru in versus mode so i can play as the funny little dog this game definitely holds a special place in my heart
I'll never forget one of my favorite moments was with Clash of Ninja 1. My best friend and I were playing at my ex wife's house on my kids Game Cube. We're on the last bit of health for the match I'm legit one Touch from death, I'm Kakashi and he's Rock Lee, my boy has full Super and the life lead. I start spamming Sharingan just to survive because it teleported you to the other side of the screen when attacked. What neither of us knew was that if you attacked with a Super, Kakashi would yell "SHARINGAN!" and light you up with a copy of your own Super!!! I still remember the "WHAT!!?" he let out till this day! 😂🤣
Loved this series as a true fighting game for this IP. It wasn’t perfect but had a whole lotta charm. Always preferred this over Ultimate Ninja as a kid. Lots of memories playing free for all with my friends after school.
i love this video!, but i did realize you were talking about ultimate ninja VS the 1st game, but do remember Ultimate ninja didnt even exist at that time. aswell as characters i beleive started having secondary specials in Clash of Ninja 2, or atleast some had rage specials i'm not sure about actual seperate specials.
Awesome video! Minor nitpick though. In GNT4, there’s a cancel mechanic (by tapping the “y” button) that allows you to extend combos by sacrificing a small percentage of chakra. This would be used a lot in competitive play of the game.
Fun fact, in Clash of ninja 1, you can unlock Sharingan Kakashi and Kyubi Naruto by meeting certain requirements, it's been so long that I forgot and can't be bother looking it up, but I'm pretty sure it was reaching wave "x" with base Kakashi and Naruto in Survival mode. This game was my first ever exposure to Naruto in 2006 before it ever aired on TV locally, making this quite a cherished game.
I just LOVE the Clash of Ninja series! It has much more depth than one might think. there is tec if you land reflect kunai /shuriken throw paper bombs, do hand signs for chakra increase and more pwer, chakra managment, grabs, rolls, get up attacks, special moves (2 for every char or more), doding. PLEASE MAKE A NEW ONE SOMEBODEY!!!!
I remember playing the second game when I was like 5, was also my only experience to the naruto series besides the og series’ ice ninja and mechanical knights movie(s). With the only thing I can remember doing in game being the versus mode where I liked using the puppet because I thought it was cool.
When I get a laptop I’m gonna immediately download Gekitou ninja taisen 4 and ultimate ninja 5, both games I used to always want as a kid. I always envious of japan for having them and very confused as to why America didn’t
The main reason why I haven’t played Rev 1 again is because Rev 2 is the superior title and as you mentioned it has the least amount of characters for some odd reason..
Clash of Ninja was my introduction to the Naruto series too! It's a bummer the series isn't coming out anymore. I got really good by the end, enough that I'd always win online except against the people that spammed that dumb handsigns mechanic they added for Wii remote only.
gekitou ninja taisen 4 is also more fast like u said but Also combos are better cause of the trajectory times and distances characters get launched can't really explain its kinda difficult to do
You forgot to mention that GNT4 has a lot of improvements compared to the rest of the games. It introduced Y-Canceling in which you press the Y button to cancel your combos. It uses 1/4 of your chakra gauge and its very useful for strings. The gameplay feels snappier as you can do dashing dodges, allowing more mobility options. Substitution’s also much better instead of each shoulder button performing the same one. Left shoulder button allows you to simply teleport without an automatic counterattack to set up an offence or maintain neutral. Some characters can easily crush guard meter and some can’t. Everyone has their own value.
Great series, i used to play Clash of Ninja 2 a lot but Gekitou Ninja Taisen 4 is definetly my favorite and i actually own it. Having a team of three characters is pretty cool especially the specific team ultimate like the Gaara,Temari and Kankuro one for example.
When this series got to the 4-player mode I remember playing it in tournaments at a video/figurine store in Center City Philadelphia. It was so much fun, whether you were playing or just watching, lol. Super nostalgic. 😊
Another thing is GNT 3 Covers more of the story with extra battles like Temari vs Tenten and Shino Vs kankuro & 3rd hokage vs orochimaru. 3 covers the chunin exam prelims along with the finals all the way to Tsunade arc while rev only covers the finals all the way to Tsunade arc
I used to play 2 a lot and Lee in gates mode was sooooo cool. You would slowly take damage while in the mode but your ultimate ability would teleport you right next to the opponent so it was hard to miss
GNT4 has a lot more than it was it seems like, you forgot to mention the mission mode that make it possible to unlock tons of characters and stages, as far as I'm aware it's one of the favorites from competitors because of the Y cancel technique included that allows to spend 1/4 of your chakra to cancel the attack animation during a combo and string another attack quickly.
I don't want to cover anything I'm not super familiar with, but I'm definitely trying to catch up on things so I can cover more! Just finished reading chapter 95 of One Piece before writing this comment :)
Two things would forgot to mention that was added to GNT4 that the rest of the series would implement: Combo Cancels (aka Y cancels) and update to the KnJ system. At the cost 1 bar (out of 4) of chakra you can cancel your character's combo string and do another attack. As a quick example with Naruto you could do this combo: Down+BA, Y cancel, BBBB, BBX. For the KnJ system (from GNT4 onward) you can either KnJ and attack (the original KnJ the series had up to that point), or you can now KnJ but no attack. This change to the KnJ system would add some much need mind games you could do on your opponent. I love the Gekitou Ninja Taisen series (as well as the Narutimate series). The multiplayer is fantastic and is a solid 3D fighter made by the developers of Bloody Roar and other fighters, Eighting. I really wish this series would continue, as I'm kinda tied of the anime arena fighter formula.
A few small things that I remember from playing these games is that Clash 2 also had the 4 player mode where you could do FFA, 2v2, or 1v3 which definitely helped it feel like a party game. Another thing is during the stage transitions you can actual turn into a guessing game. You can follow up with an attack, jump ahead and continue the combo when your opponent lands, or your opponent can just dodge you and reset when you land. I thought it added little bit of depth to this really simple fighting game
interesting on the sense of scale the hokage heads are hilariously small, close and lower than usual but I like that they got everything in the shot lol
@ many agree with this lol they have more characters, features, and content why tf would they not lmao revolution is just a worse version of the GNT games
Awww. You didn't mention the part where in the 4th game, there's unique team ultimates when you have 3 specific characters like the sharingan trio; Sasuke, Kakashi and itachi
so in the settings of Naruto Clash of Ninja 2 there is a difficulty setting. Playing it rn and I don't know how me and my bro were able to beat that unless we also knew about the difficulty settings in the options. It helped A LOT turning down the difficulty down to 1 lol
I've played and owned all US versions of Clash of Ninja and Revolution minus 1 for both (I started with CoN 2 and never bothered to get 1, though I have played a bit of it via a Gamestop kiosk) and enjoyed those. I'd say my main gripe is the smaller roster sizes in the US releases, especially for the later games as well as the change from a 3-man squad fight to a 2-man squad fight in Revolution 3. For example you can play as the Sound 5 in the Ultimate Ninja games but not in the ENG CoN games. Same with the Third Hokage. Something I noticed is that for GNT3 Mizuki has his own character spot whereas in CoN2 you had to do a specific toggle while selecting Iruka to play as him, which also meant that you could only use his alternate costume in mirror matches. Aside from unique voice lines and special interactions with Naruto (saying "Come on Demon Fox!" during his special for one) he's basically identical to Iruka gameplay wise, at least in CoN2.
I imported Gekitō Ninja Taisen! 2 while reading the manga in Shounen Jump. Didn't know half the characters but that game is one of the biggest things that made me a hardcore Naruto fan. I eventually imported 3 and 4 when they came out. Friends from all over the neighborhood would come over to play, great times! I am suprised you didn't talk a little bit more about the rooster. I loved these games way more than Ultimate ninja because honestly those games felt like everybody was exactly the same. But I was so shocked that Kiba and Kanurou had helper characters they controlled, that was revolutionary for a fighting game for young me. The Hyuuga could do chakra damage. Shikamaru moved and attacked in such a lazy way yet was so fluid and smooth. Gaara had super unique blocking animation and burst attacks. Outside of Smash Bros I don't think I have ever played a fighting game where the character feel so different from each other. Modern fighting games feel so boring because I assume they are ultra fine-tuned to be balanced for competition but I don't play fighting games to compete I play to control really unique and different anime fighters.
I hate the first Revolution so much just because they got rid of Kiba for whatever reason. And they kept Choji excluded! Like, I get excluding some of the others, but Kiba & Choji are part of the core cast.
Not sure if you know about it, but there is a mod for GNT4 with an English patch and I played it earlier and was able to use D-pad in battle, the mod adds some QoL improvements and character reworks.
By pressing Y after some moves you can chain other moves together so there are a lot of hidden combos not listed in the comand list. It cost chakra to do that however. As far as I know that is not explained in any of the games. I also highly recommend you try Super GNT4
You know you don't have to worry about stupid copyright strikes on licensed cutscene. A simple screenshot or a poster (maybe an ugly drawing lol) would've minimized the risk of RUclips tyranny.
I played all the GameCube Clash games and one on the Wii. While I loved the Tekken-style gameplay, I always preferred the Ultimate Ninja games. I also enjoyed the Ninja Council games, maybe you could play those if you haven’t for a video?
What do you like more? Ultimate Ninja (including the Storm games) or Clash of Ninja?

A new niosai video? Lets go! Keep coming out with the great content! God loves us and God Bless!
clash of ninja 2 was one of the few games i owned for my gamecube as well as being the first fighting game i owned
i remember not having a memory card so everytime i played the game, i tried to speedrun the game so i could get the points to unlock Akamaru in versus mode so i can play as the funny little dog
this game definitely holds a special place in my heart
God damn I never understood people not having a memory card growing up I always had one for my PS2 and GC🤦🏽♂️
Was waiting for this one! Thank you!
Apparently, I missed this video's notification! So cool to see it, and I'm so glad to see how much your channel has taken off!
really enjoyed your commentry bro
I appreciate it! :)
That's in all the games... It's just the grab button at certain intervals
@@stephvidaze4074 Cancelling did not exist until GekiNin 4.
I really wish Clash of Ninja 3 and 4 had been released in North America.
I also wish we could get another installment in this series.
I agree, a new one or at least a port of the last Clash of Ninja / Gekitou Ninja Taisen on the Switch.
Thanks! I'm so happy to see this, what an amazing work
I will say, it seems a lot like Tekken and that diversity of gameplay would be great nowadays
I love clash of ninja 2 for the GameCube. So great video series
I played these games so much as a kid. Had tons of fun.
Great video as always
Clash of Ninja was my introduction to the Naruto series too! It's a bummer the series isn't coming out anymore. I got really good by the end, enough that I'd always win online except against the people that spammed that dumb handsigns mechanic they added for Wii remote only.
the memories playing this on gamecube with my homies after school
gekitou ninja taisen 4 is also more fast like u said but Also combos are better cause of the trajectory times and distances characters get launched can't really explain its kinda difficult to do
You forgot to mention that GNT4 has a lot of improvements compared to the rest of the games.
Crazy how you didn’t mention Y canceling in GNT4. Literally the biggest change in the series adding so much more depth to the combos
In clash of ninja 2 you can battle with four players and customize the teams. That was when they added it.
When this series got to the 4-player mode I remember playing it in tournaments at a video/figurine store in Center City Philadelphia. It was so much fun, whether you were playing or just watching, lol. Super nostalgic. 😊
3:29 ok, Kakashi just went for a Rin moment on Naruto
Niosai you should do different anime games from a different IP . For example , one piece games or Tokyo ghoul games
I don't want to cover anything I'm not super familiar with, but I'm definitely trying to catch up on things so I can cover more! Just finished reading chapter 95 of One Piece before writing this comment :)
@@Niosai you the goat btw 🔥
JAPAN HAD SHIPUDEN GAMES IN 2007!??!??
I WOULDVE EXPLODED AT THE THOUGHT OF PLAYING THAT IN 2007! MY GOD!!!
Niosai! I don't even know what the video is of I just saw you and trusted the process.
I thought it added little bit of depth to this really simple fighting game
interesting on the sense of scale
the hokage heads are hilariously small, close and lower than usual
but I like that they got everything in the shot lol
I played a ton of Clash of ninja 2 and Revolution back in the day after i got my brother into naruto, good times.
thanks for covering clash of ninja series revolution 1 2 and 3 were my child hood
funny enough, i was actually looking for this series
10:30 why's kid Garra using Taijutsu? 💀💀💀
There's a few people disturbed by this in the comments 😂
It’s insane how much better the GameCube versions are than the Wii versions
No one agrees with this
@ many agree with this lol they have more characters, features, and content why tf would they not lmao revolution is just a worse version of the GNT games
Just played clash 2 last night and the difficulty never fails to surprise me 😂. That guy story episode pissed me off
FINALLY, LET'S GO!!!
Just finished the storm video to see this freshly uploaded
Awww. You didn't mention the part where in the 4th game, there's unique team ultimates when you have 3 specific characters like the sharingan trio; Sasuke, Kakashi and itachi
Clash of ninja goes hard name another naruto game that u can play up to 4 players on the same screen 🔥
Always loved the clash of ninja series needs a comeback
so in the settings of Naruto Clash of Ninja 2 there is a difficulty setting. Playing it rn and I don't know how me and my bro were able to beat that unless we also knew about the difficulty settings in the options. It helped A LOT turning down the difficulty down to 1 lol
underrated series
Ayo, Shino? 21:32 😂😂😂
The 4 player multiplayer listed as a change for GNT3 was in Clash of Ninja 2.
GNT4 is crazy I love that game with a passion
I remember importing a Japanese Wii back in the day just for the Gekito Ninja Taisen games
I still play clash of ninja 2 gekitou ninja taisen 3 and 4 to this day
Hahahaha You get to play as Mizuki in Naruto Gekito Taisen 4 That's hilarious.
The Clash of Ninja series is my all time favorite Naruto games
Also, there's an English patch for CON4. I play it on my PC
27:39 famous last words
Have you ever played the Zatch Bell games? They're a lot of fun
I had GNT 3 and GNT4 had to use freeloader those games were sick
I played all the GameCube Clash games and one on the Wii. While I loved the Tekken-style gameplay, I always preferred the Ultimate Ninja games. I also enjoyed the Ninja Council games, maybe you could play those if you haven’t for a video?
Pls play every Tony Hawk game
grew up on clash of ninja 1 & 2❤
