Teej, I love NamJoon's music and songs. His voice tone is so unique and his work always appeals to me because of the beautiful deep thoughtfulness and raw emotions that he brings out through them. It's like he gives a picture of himself, an art work, a painting of who he really is. Wild Flower, makes me feel his reckoning with his stardom and being famous. How much of himself, he loses as a performer. When he lays on the ground, I can feel his determination to stay grounded, no matter how high his career takes him. Wild Flower reminds me a lot of a scene, from the third or fourth episode of American Hustle Life, where a young Rap Monster, just starting out in his career, watching the 4th of July Fireworks wondering, saying out loud, how stardom, would look and feel like fireworks. Musing that it could also be fleeting and die out quickly, as nothing lasts forever. I love every song in Indigo and cannot wait till you discover his latest album Right person, wrong place. It is a sonic masterpiece and a RM coming from left wing and alternative. The other songs of his that I like are, Forever rain, Moonchild and Still Life.
Everytime i listen to namjoon's music i think about how much he put his emotions in to them. How much his past, present, future weigh on him but I'm so proud of him for bearing it all. He is an icon. This man is truly talented.
If you get a chance to react to the full Indigo album, I really hope you check out the full Indigo Magazine Film too. I really enjoy hearing your thoughts on the music so I feel like itll be a fun time to see you do the film and album
Teej..you are one of the few reactors i trust and love when it comes to BTS..as i said under your wildflower reaction, i see similarities between you and joon idk how to explain it..the more you discover his music the more you understand why he is what he is, he is my fav rapper..ever
It's fine to react to this again. This song is that profound. I had to watch it 3 times back to back just to absorb this song to my content the first I seen it, it's that good to me. You be you💜
Absolutely love that you did this! You can go even deeper with 'Wildflower' on doolset lyrics if you are interested. BTS's songs will often have so much to explore, you'll get good translations, context and wordplay explained there.
This is why i liked insightful reactors like you more than the hyped one because of videos like this. Dont get me wrong i love hyped reactors too but i prefer this a little bit better.
There has always been a measure of angst in RM about the Idol system. Initially it was as simple as the idea of being an Idol as opposed to a rap artist. I think this song shows how when he made that choice, he expected it to run its course, He would have a beautiful fall in which he would be essentially an artist as opposed to a large-scale performer. RM mentioned thinking about expressing in a song releasing himself from the oppressive Idol system 5 to 6 years prior. He was politic not mentioning Idol specifically. To the untrained ear Wildflower might have sounded like he wanted to leave BTS, but I think it really was a cry for individual expression and subsequently group expression outside the boundaries of oppressive commercially based Idol system. He wants to escape inflated evaluations based on noncreative criteria and the toxicity which emanates from competition amongst overly invested fans. The maelstrom which Wildflower exposes had been bubbling not just in RM but in many of the members who would foretell a new kind of BTS in the track Black Swan. This predicted "second chapter" would get delayed by Covid but was an inevitability. The Idol system never was designed to foster artistry, but to exploit female investment within a narrow section of East Asia. I know that comes off as sexist, but it was part of the SM formula when they created the idea of perfect dolls to which females would spend inordinate time and money attending to. As much as BTS fully recognizes how they were sustained, advanced and continue to be advanced by these very females who the Idol system targeted, I think they don't want to be pigeonholed into a Korean business commercial strategy which never was designed for universal global engagement. J Cole analogized in the J Hope track On the Street about walking your daughter to the alter and letting her go. This did not mean she was no longer your beloved daughter. It meant the loving relationship would be reconceptualized. I think BTS will always love the female fans who gave them so much but at the same time would love to have the mutual love reconceptualized. BTS would like to share it in the context of them being artists outside the crap which is the Idol system. BTS members are currently in the process of doing that. The bonus is that their respect as artists is growing and BTS is becoming a group for everyone as opposed to the one gender group the Idol system was designed to capture.
Thnk u for doing this reaction. I watched it several times when it was aired ay end 2022.....i was mesmerised by Namjoon's consistent dedication to his sonic journey....its always shifting but there is a distinct RM presence in every output. I have not revisited this video since 2022 but going thru it with you just reminded me why this young man is special.....just like you.....special. I dont care much for regular pop sounds but i do support all the bangtan members works. They all do well in the charts but for the artisan minded and tuned its Namjoon's works that stand out......his music may remind bubbling under the wave of more popular music.....but his mattle as an artist for the long run will persist over time and be the stuff of history.....
I highly recommend 'Forever Rain' by RM from his MONO Album. Its my favorite song of all time from RM. I have felt the same way when i listened to 'Forever Rain' and 'Wildflower'. Like i felt sadness but immense comfort too. I hope you check it out TEEJ.
This song was also one of those ones that speaks to me so very much. It helps put into perspective what they go through as an artist, and it always makes me want to give RM a hug and say thank you. Other songs that speak loud and clear Outro Tear, Louder Than Bombs, Jamie’s Vu, Magic Shop, We Are Bulletproof: The Eternal, Lie. There is something about each of these songs that just hits, and each for different reasons. They have so many songs that just have a way of speaking to me and it can all be relative to what is happening in my life. Sad and need comfort ok let’s do Magic Shop… frustrated and want to have a sarcastic song - here you go with Ddaeng, need a pick me up of positivity - JHope on deck with Neuron and so on. A lot of their songs become memorable, as I can always put on a song that gives me what I need to hear. That is why I love their music so much.
Feel better soon! What I love about watching these shoos and behind the scenes is that you can see how so involved they are in the actual production of their music videos - not just following whatever the directors say. They are always monitoring themselves and se where hey can improve. They are definitey a hard working group.
This song stays with me for sure. Suga's Snooze. I have a lot of songs over the years but it's been a while 😂 I find that BTS manages to make a lot of those songs. Maybe because they write on various levels of internal struggle. They express things so well. And, we are all human and we are all facing our internal struggles. So they connect. Also, poetry. It’s always such beautiful poetry.
Spring Day brought me into BTS. The longing, nostalgia incredible lyrics made me curious and explanation of course gutted me. Also, Save Me is a fan favorite. But I'm Fine, the sequel to Save Me, had the most impact for me. PS, Wildflower was my most stream last year wrapped list too. It's hard to list out, so many great thoughtful emotional songs from BTS and the guys. Moving On, Path(Road), Jimin's Alone, Agust D Life Goes On, Jamais Vu, Let Go, RM Trivia:Love ...so many more. Thank you for sharing your reaction. 💜
Outro: Tear is in my Top 5 BTS songs all-time too. And Jimin's Lie is one of my top Jimin songs all-time too. Definitely do those. With Lie... do a LIVE with Eng Subs!! There is one by the channel Queen thet has 1.7M views, and more recently Enjoy BTS More did it, so less views, but always most accurate subs. Either are great. Congrats on new set up on the way! I love your interpretation of the "Me? No hero. Me? No villain." He is very fluent in English so the bad grammar isn't likely, what he always says has intent and what you said, makes a lot of sense and definitely adds depth. And I always say you have similar thinking patters as he does. I think it is a great insight. Hope you are feeling fully healed and restored soon. Have a great week.
Thanks for the deeper dive into RM’s Wildflower Teej! I really love hearing how you put so many thoughts on eac part and the MV together! I can’t say right now which song would stick with me after 1 listen only because I’m too tired to think. I hope that really is the end of your coughing. Congratulations on the new equipment for the new year too! I hope you start to feel better. Take your time. I’m slowly catching up..That’s why I enjoy listening to your thoughts, esp tonight! 😂💜💜💜🙌🇨🇦
RMs INDIGO album has been on my playlist since it came out. RPWP joined it but INDIGO will be a perenial favourite, I will see if RPWP will also stay as fresh for me. I found it the most interesting exciting album of last year. It literally had me bouncing in my seat. Initially I had a stronger reaction to RPWP than INDIGO, but INDIGO has been somewhat of a grower for me. I just love it more and more with time.
Wildflower. Fame and RM's future. Fireworks are spectacular and beautiful, but they do not last. Just like fame. RM would rather be a wildflower in a field, than bask in the short lived fireworks of fame.
I like the way you were able to come back and revisit this song. For me, sometimes it takes time to process my feelings about a song. My song that will always be with me is Snooze. Love it. It really speaks to me. 💜
Hi Teej! Glad you feel better ^^ All BTS and members mv have their shooting sketch, it's always great to see the process, the thoughts behind their imagery and also their dedication (from their staff too) to their work. And don't worry, most ARMY watch and listen those/this songs more than once! Cuz each time, we catch new details, new symbols or our mood just needs something else, feels something else... Can't wait for you to react to entire album...lol 5h long videos incoming!!! Love your members reaction, but I really would like you to react to a BTS album ^^ (even tho, do what you want, always) A lot of BTS songs stick with me, they have so much great ones... My actual obsession is Heart on the window by JIN
Time stamps may be needed for returning to the video when those happen lol, I tend to forget time... periodically. No-no love the suggestions. idk if anyone's ever recommended BTS albums, honestly. 🤔 Noted!
Awww... The love! I'm so happy to see put on your poet and lycist hat! So much appreciation for our Namjoon! I'm glad I watched this whole video. Thanks @TEEJ-9 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
10:02 Not RM or BTS, but more like BTS adjacent: Epik High's channel has "mongsang lofi 🐈 - 24/7 chill beats to daydream & relax/study to" live going 24/7.

Soooo haappy to see how much you love this song !!!!! : )
Totally relate. The more you dive in, the more it intertwines with your feelings and then it becomes one with your very being.

Very interesting analysis
This is so beautiful, how you analyzed this. I think another song that will resonate with you as an artist is BTS' Black Swan.
Yupp... still need to get to that one.

I cannot wait for the full album reviews because the storytelling is amazing throughout the albums

Has anyone mentioned the live performance RM did with Youjeen? AMAZING!!!!! Her live vocals are The Vibe!!!!
Yupp! It's added in the 1st reaction to Wildflower here on the CH.
