Ive watched SO many videos on using lasers. These are actually the best. great pace and easy to follow. unlike others this doesnt skip the simple yet important parts that trip newbies up. Well done. Gold star!
Best channel. Just purchased a K40 and people saying you need the same amount of upgrades that you paid for the machine but after watching you channel I just got the square, drag chain, lab jack and the air assist. All the best for your channel.
There is lots of room for improvement, for sure. But, it's easy to go down a rabbit hole with improvements (I'm sure they're all great, though). But the way I see it, it's a cheap laser and I don't want to put a huge amount of energy or money into it. It doesn't have the bells and whistles the pro lasers do, and I'm OK with that. For now, it does everything I want it to do. Someday, when I want it to do more, I'll upgrade the machine.
Very clear and easy to follow. I just purchased a k40 and I am feeling more confident that I will be able to master it after watching your vids Thanks for sharing.
Brilliant. First video that I have seen about positioning and aligning the pieces. I just bought a used k40 off Ebay, and I was wondering how to centre the jobs, as there is no reference on the table. A simple L shape to the Y-0 X-0 point would have been useful I think
Great videos mate. Just doing my research before I pull the pin on a K40. You have a great personality on camera and make very good videos. I wish you much success on RUclips.
Going to ask about the material used for the Star Wars coasters at the beginning. That painted wood? Going to watch that part again. NOTE: OK. That slate?
Just the stuff from Lowe’s. They’re 14 cents or something like that. I use white, then spray paint it black. Laser burs off the black paint revealing the whit ceramic tile beneath.
2 questions: how do you adjust the focal height when you don’t have the jack installed in your machine? (Also do you have a video on how you took the bed out to install your jack) Question 2: should I always use a piece of wood with masking tape on it to set my laser item on it to engrave?
I have been following what you are doing in this video but my machine isn't doing the outline engrave. Any suggestions of what I could be doing wrong? Great videos by the way.
It depends on what software you're using. But typically, red is for vector cut, blue is for vector engrave (outlining), and black is for raster engraving. Good luck!
The air supply is an large aquarium pump. The nozzle I 3d printed. Check out my other video where I go into detail about my current setup. ruclips.net/video/ketTZZ9LiUQ/видео.html
Yes, absolutely. I'll do a video on that in the future. But basically, you change it to black and white, then adjust the contrast until it looks good. K40 Whisperer will adjust the laser for you. For more advanced engraving, you can play with image manipulation and dithering. But that takes a bit of trial and error. But once you get it dialed in, it works great. I also heard LightBurn software does exceptionally well with it.
Yes, but since I'm not using a cut, I'm using it to mark my work area. If I needed a cut, I'd use the blue line to mark my work area. Basically, the blue and red line separate types of cuts, since they're both treated as vectors. Black is treated as a raster.
You know, this one is good for someone who wants to try out their laser cutter for first time and learn. Why, placement is explained when you don't have a camera in the cutter.
This guy does by far the best information vids on the K40 .

What kind of ceramic tile do you use?
Just the stuff from Lowe’s. They’re 14 cents or something like that. I use white, then spray paint it black. Laser burs off the black paint revealing the whit ceramic tile beneath.
Really enjoy your videos. Nice pace, valuable info and easy to understand.
I appreciate that!
Great explanation! Thank you :-)
Glad it was helpful!
Nice tip. I have a bed made of expanded steel and just use a sheet of printer paper and run the outline at 3ma to mark/cut the paper
I’ve been using paper lately too. I’ve been using spray adhesive to mount it, though.

Where did you get your air assist system?
The air supply is an large aquarium pump. The nozzle I 3d printed. Check out my other video where I go into detail about my current setup. ruclips.net/video/ketTZZ9LiUQ/видео.html
Wow
These vids are helpful but I have one question what's the distance you keep you laser head from your material. Thanks
Sure. Check out my other video on setting your focal length on your laser. You can find that here: ruclips.net/video/u4YHbDBBofg/видео.html
great work ... but can it burning photo at wood?

Doesn't your laser read the red lines you use for the box and circle as a cut line?
Yes, but since I'm not using a cut, I'm using it to mark my work area. If I needed a cut, I'd use the blue line to mark my work area. Basically, the blue and red line separate types of cuts, since they're both treated as vectors. Black is treated as a raster.
Awesome thanks new subscriber here
Awesome thank you!

Unpredictable performance. Some days the OMTECH CO2 laser works, and other days it refuses to cooperate. Inconsistent and unreliable.
OMG dude - just cut a jig/holder.
