Hey there. I had thought I had replied to your comment but must not have. I chose not to do this option because the laser goes back to start position in between each cut. Duplicating the line makes it do both cuts then goes back to the start position so it's a little bit quicker. Thanks for the comment though buddy
Good tips, thanks The Resize Page to Selection is also accessible from the Edit menu. Someone commented that K40 Whisperer's advanced options allows you to set the number of passes but the K40 goes back to the home position between each pass making your method a bit faster.
Hi. A couple of observations. 1. To get rid of the brown cutting outlines - cover your work area with masking tape. 2. The K40 Whisperer has an advanced settings where you can increate the number of passes for cutting etc.
Yeah the masking side of things works really well but I would get through tonnes of it with the amount I cut. As for the advance settings, yeah that's also a good way of doing it but the way I do it means you can do it before you start to cut. Hey there, yeah it is 3mm MDF and it was a lot of trial and error. I have completely changed my laser control panel so that any numbers I tell you won't help at all. What type K40 do you have? There are two different control panel types

I just recieved my K40 last week & I have soo many questions. I'm new to this machine, and I'd like engrave acrylic for keychains & name jewelry. I've been running tests & trying to figure out the power to cut through the acrylic & plexiglass

@@jitendramohta6587 I will be doing videos about making things like that but you will have to learn how to use various programs like inkscape etc. It's not that hard when you get into it. I don't have any designs to give away. I'm sorry
I was running it as low as possible to see how that would extend the life of the tube. I'd also had a lot of messages about multi pass tips so I added it. In general I now do most things in one pass (unless it's really thick material)
Volts? Are you referring to, milliamps? Are you measuring "one" volt over a known resistor.? Then you have an amp meter, which makes sense ,but a reference to "one volt" makes no useful sense in this context

@@TheOffGridFamily It's a well kept secret apparently. I was put onto it by Scorch, the guy who wrote whisperer. MeerK40t 0.6.22 is the current production version. There is a major upgrade (which is going to be pretty darn good I think) in development.
In advance setting in K40 whisperer, you can chose how many passes you want for each operation...

In Inkscape try "Edit ==> Resize page to selection". Saves you another click ;-)

You can change it in the settings but I find it better to do it in design because that way you can pick and choose the things that need multiple cuts

That laser should be able to cut clear through that in one pass!! I do 1/4 inch 5 ply, plywood with mine in one pass. Dirty mirrors or lens?

I like k40 whisperer.
You should not use acetone on lenses it leaves a film. Use isopropyl alcohol instead 👍

Dry the acetone with a hair dryer, takes seconds
If you are going to use acetone, WEAR GLOVES!, your skin will absorb the acetone, and it is not good for you.
