I have to thank you for showing us this new product. Definitely a must have. With that said I would like to recommend you and any body who will do this job to install Knockout Non-Metallic Push-In Connectors. Running the wires through the sharp metal edges of the splice box may in time cut them and create a fire hazard.
And, I am sure it is code to have wire connectors where a wire goes into a juction box.
I been looking for something like this for my home! Simple and easy video to understand!
I've been looking for a solution to this forever. I was required to install ICF flight cans because of my building code. Thanks so much for making this video!
Glad you're back to making videos boss. I always look forward to your reviews.
Just bought a pack of 3 using your link, great review!
Could you show it working with apple HomeKit?
wow, this video helped me a lot. thank you so much.
Great unboxing and functional details!!
Great video buddy. A question for you. I have one of these types of lights in my patio ceiling. Non-Smart
With no visible way (from looking to feeling around). To install one of these I need to remove it.
Question, how do I remove the one in my ceiling. Please sit.
And thank you.
Have you tried pulling it down from the ceiling? Just curious.
I love the ability to choose colors, but when I'm just walking into the room, can I just hit a switch, or do I have to talk to Alexa or get my phone out? Because I'd like to be able to just hit the switch and have bright white light most of the time. Are these the ones for me? Also, how many can I run through a single switch? My workshop is about 30'x40' with vaulted ceilings that peak around 16'. How many of these bad boys will I need, and will I need multiple switches? Thanks for any input you can provide! Great video!
You can only have 1 or the other. If you want alexa controlled device you leave the switches on at all times. If you want manual control you just turn the switch on and off
I say they said HomeKit support is that true? Also do these work with smart switches I have Lutron Caseta switches in my house
Great video, it’s really made well. Unfortunately these LED lights are intended to be installed as new work, not as a retrofit. Hopefully they make a retrofit model.
they do
I love my govee ceilings lights. However, even 1% is too bright if you just are using for some color on the ceiling. It can wash out other lighting even at 1%. It also doesnt work with govee desktop, which for me is a bummer.
Your thumbnail shows apple homekit, is it actually supported or just with Siri Shortcuts?
In the market for ecessed lights. Wondering if this would work without wifi? If the wifi is out for whatever reason, can I a least use the different white settings?.
Bought a 4 pack of the 4 inch, but I can't get the driver box and the light up into the existing can.
My thought was to put the driver box outside of the can and then snake the wires into the can and down to the light, but I don't like that those wires are exposed out of the can. Not sure exactly what I'm going to do as I'd really like these in here.
Any suggestions?
Can you show how you grounded it?
Yes - what did you do with the ground?
After the initiation color cycle when you first switch on. Every time after that what happens when you switch it on is it at the setting you last left it when switched off?
Is there a RGB light bull compatible with the cloudy bay app? Bought 6 of these light and have a pre existing fixture I want to sync with these lights.
How does the wall switch work? If turned on and off does it lag?
Can you change the colours separately
A question is this lights work with a dimmable smart switch?
No. They are app dimable. Usually Smart LED's will not work with dimmer switches
How did you re caulk around the light
May I ask, you installed 2 lights can you control both lights individually? Also could I not install a light switch. The goal of my project is one switch in each room to control one master light. All other lights will run from electrical panel to lights. Hope so I just bought 7 boxes of 4” 6” and 6” Water resistance lights. Thank you and in your office the magenta rocks.
Yes, you can control both lights individually. It should be fine if your project is well within the code in your area.
I’m thinking to buy these for my basement project. Not sure how reliable they are compared to Philips Hue?
I haven’t tested them for long term yet, however they seem to have good customer service and warranty.
What if you have same light in other room would it change all at the same time or just the ones you want
Just the ones you want. They are all independently controlled.
Code doesn't work anymore 😔
Thanks for the great video! What kind of lights did you use for the bookshelves?
amzn.to/40gwacX. Thanks!
20% off didn't work. is there a different code or the offer has ended?
Hi, do these mimic "daylight" too? Like the white light from tubelights
Yes they do. It mimics all colors
No rgb controls in Alexa or google home? I have the led strips and I can only do solid colors and dimming otherwise I have to use some proprietary app
I can control the RGB using google home on this one.
Is that a smart switch you used, does it work fine with a smart switch?
That is a smart switch I am using. It works well with the LEDs, however I will most likely remove the switch since I will not require it, because the LEDs are smart themselves.
Any chance you can get it to rotate colors automatically. Just thinking of putting them under my covered porch for Xmas lights.
Yes it should be able to do that in the app.
will these lights need a smart swith to use with Apple shortcuts? I know it's not compatible with Homekit.
I believe you can do that, as long as the switch is Apple compatible.
These should already come with the screw in adapter.
Can this work with wall switch. What about with dimmer switch, thank you.
I know it works well for a wall switch. I haven’t tried it on a dimmer switch. However, you should contact the company to make sure.
Would like to know also
If my house already has recessed lights installed, can't I just switch out the old lights with the new one without having to switch the J box?
If the Junction boxes are the same then sure.
Can. U. Demonstrate. Caulking. And. What. Type. Of. Caulking. Thanks. !!!
Do not caulk around the light.
How did you ground it
I assume the way his wiring is he screws in that threaded part where another junction box is above his ceiling that carries the ground back to the box
Nvm I didn't watch the video. Unless his canister has a ground attached to it above the ceiling simply attaching his ground to the canister does not ground it
Can you turn the lights on and off through the app ?
Yes you can.
Those are wafer lights not recess lights!
Does the app connect to 5ghz network? I just changed to Orbi router and now I can't choose 2.4 network so the app for the lights I have won't work.
So normally with Orbi and other newer systems like mine, they have both 2.4 and 5.0 in one, so it should work with your system.
@@KLEANTRIX After talking to Netgear had to send back the orbi. You can't choose the 2.4 ghz so app's that require you to connect to 2.4 ghz will not work. My s22 will not let me turn off 5ghz so orbi chooses that for me.
@@vaspar9871 I believe it will work, because sometimes these so called experts on the phone do not have the proper answer and do not know if it will work or not. I thought mine wouldn’t work, and then it did. The best solution is to order it, test it and if it doesn’t work, return it. It’s Amazon. And if it does work, keep it.
@@KLEANTRIX I already have similar ones. tuya smart and smart life app will only connect to 2.4 ghz. And this app is the same. So if you can't choose the 2.4 ghz only with your phone I promise you, it won't work. The only Orbi that lets you choose is the 850 852 and 900 series. Of course they are 700 to 1400.
@@vaspar9871 so this is the same problem with Google wifi, there is a work around for it. Simply start the hot spot on your phone, have the lights connect to your phones hotspot which should be 2.4 and then they'll be connected to your home wifi. Another method is keep an older phone that is 2.4 only and use that to connect 2.4 devices. Either method should work
Can you synch a whole room to music?
Yes you can. It’s pretty cool actually.
I disagree! Those big OLD FASHIONED recessed cans are necessary for a reason. In a few years when your Chinese made wafer LED module dies and eventually they all do. You won't be able to find a matching unit as the industry moves to new products at a fast pace. Buy standard replaceable lamps (bulbs) for you influencers paid to peddle products. A good recessed light fixture, the light source should be well above the ceiling plain to avoid glare. Ugly colors are just awful. You want a color temp of 2700k - 3000k with a desirable beam spread, dimmability without weird color shifts. Even a maximum dim color of 1000k would be a blessing. I don't require an app to control my lights. That is what was switches are for.
They are really easy to replace for $10 or less per light. And they typically last several years.
Boomer
And what does that mean? I take it that you have absolutely no qualifications in either commercial or residential lighting? I don't but hired one of the better ones from Los Angeles to do my lighting scheme. It aint' Home Depot crap! How do you illuminate your artwork? Or are you into bright white flipper house stuff? As for "boomer" technically I am Generation Jones. Too young for Woodstock, Vietnam but MTV came on in my first year of college. At least I experienced the U.S. before 9/11. Did you? Back to high school and your per hour wage lifestyle.
