Great terrarium! I love dart frogs! Just a tip for "painting" the background: instead of going from light to dark, start with the dark and then add the lighter brown and grey as highlights. It will be a lot easier to get the effect you're going for! Thanks for the great video!
Appreciate the kinda words William! You know I usually do dark at first but for some reason I didn’t in this video! But still that is a good tip to mention for anyone reading the comment section! Thanks for taking the time to watch my content!🤙
Careful with that many Tincs in one enclosure when they mature they become very territorial especially the females, I'd also be weary of that much sphagnum it's a very common problem we see in the Dart frog groups typically because Josh's Frogs still instructs people to use a whole layer of sphagnum but when it starts to decay with that much of it, it becomes a haven for bad bacteria that can cause bacterial infections, I'd also add alot more leaf litter. Besides that I liked your approach on this vid wasn't as over the top as some others.
Looks awesome, man. I've got about half the stuff gathered for my first vivarium and first reptile, a crested 🦎 , and I'm just sitting here watching, totaling up the costs of your build in my head, and man...phew. You've gotta pay through the nose to set up a nice bioactive tank. I never would've have suspected it would actually be THIS high, and mine will even be somewhat more modest. This is just a new hobby for me though. It's operating costs in your case, tax deductible lol
Hi this looks awesome! I have the same size vivarium for my darts for a few months, but the plants aren’t flourishing like yours. What humidity do you keep it at? How many mists per day? Where do you get your green moss for the bottom and the moss slurry?
I keep mine like probably 80% constantly not sure. I don’t check to be honest just something I kinda know when it’s good. I use a glass stop with a 1-2 inch vent. I mist at least 1-2 times a day. The moss slurry I made myself. You can see how I did it in my bumble bee dart frog video. To get the Java moss to make it I have a link in the description. The other moss I’ve purchased at reptile expos.
Dont they need a water source? or is regular misting sufficient? Trying to decide whether to put a waterfall in mine, but its alot more difficult to wrap my head around when i want alot of soil for the base....
So just curious.... the soil looks like it has perlite in it..... mine also does.... someone told me I should take it out and replace it with different soil.... because there is a chance a frog could ingest it...... Have you ever had any issues with it?
@Mighty Morphing Reptiles I didn't think they would intentionally...... I wasn't thinking about it or was originally worried.... but the frog breeders I got mine from said something about it, and then I kinda of started worrying about it..... I think I'm not going to worry too much about it...... next tank I set up though I'm going to try to avoid it...... Thank for the reply man🤘
I have some questions if you have any advice or links. It's okay if you dont reply, I'm aware its a lot. Sorry for any inconvenience. I have a couple plants and I'm creating my terrarium. I'm trying to figure out best location for them in the tank and instructions on how to best plant them. Also I need to know what size pots they would need to have if I am putting pots in the background. I'm worried they will outgrow them. I have Lemon button fern Rattlesnake plant 2 earth star bromiliads, one red one stripe. One nerve plant Petra and an umbrella plant I have an 18x18x24. I have tons of wood to mount anything to. Would it be safe to use repti bark in the background mixed with coco coir and sphagnum moss? It's flukers. I'm putting it on drylock. Thank you if you do help. Again even links would help I'll take any advice from anyone!
I wish they'd put the price of each of these things when they do these vids. I stated one of these then learned it's like $100 for that driftwood or $35 for one of these plants 😂 before I knew it my vivarium was over a grand
I’m glad you like it! I don’t know what your family is thinkin. You know what go make a dart frog build and get one behind their backs and leave it in the living room! Betcha that change their mind after a morning with em!😂🐸🥸

It’s totally fine dude! If it is poisonous then it’s only from ingestion. Tons of people use this plant for their reptiles and frogs! Thanks for watching man!
Yeah sure. I personally don’t keep morning geckos but you should be fine as a lot of keepers do it. However, Phylobattes terribilis dart frog can eat the geckos. They’ll eat anything that fits in their mouth
Those one are with organic potting soil. As I got them from a local pet store and they have an organic/pet safe section. If it had fertilizer I would typically wash them out.
Hey there! the specific foam used for this build is already a water fall foam sealant. Even if you poke a hole into it it wont ruin it nor would it getting wet.
I failed to address in the video as some may know. But with tinctorioius species you will have to separate them as they age, as females are territorial in the presence of a male!🥸 Thanks everyone for watching!🤙
That answer can honestly vary depending what plants, materials, where you get your stuff from and ect, but this one specifically. Guessing is probably…… probably $500 including the frogs. Just fyi you can usually get your stuff the cheapest at reptile expos.
The tank looks amazing! Glad I found someone showing how to build and how to care and why you are doing or adding things.

I’m aware that they have to be separated once they sexually mature! I knew when I first got them thanks for the comment.
I agree the layers of moss on the ground is not good practice. Awesome tank otherwise!
