We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to live on! We're going to survive! Today we celebrate our Independence Day!” Still gives me chills.
When I thought nothing could top the BraveHeart speech, here comes Bill Pullman starting a riot in the theater with the greatest speech in movie history.
Character is severely underrated. People act like he was just an idiot drunk. You don't fly fighter jets in vietnam just because. Guy was a man who was devastated by flying missions in Vietnam. You compare him to the president who's only combat was in the gulf war, and this guy was an elite badass.

Happy 4th of July, Jeremy, great review. I loved this movie back in the day, still do. Still quotable as hell and so much fun. One of the best things about this film were how likable the characters were, especially Will & Goldblum, the sequel pales in comparison. I feel like they waited way too long to do it. And killing him offscreen in that movie was a bad idea IMHO. Always thought the plot should've been a rescue mission where they try to locate a missing group including Capt. Steven Hiller and end on a cliffhanger without showing Will, then do a third when Will was able to do it, if he wanted to reprise his role. But back to the original, I remember the awesome making-of vignette they had on HBO when it showed Jeff Goldblum as David running around Area 51 with the cameraman, always thought that making of segment was so cool. I think that's what Jeremy was referencing at 6:47. HBO was so awesome back then especially when they did the teasers for big blockbuster movies that premiered on there. :) Hope to see you review more awesome 90s movies, Jeremy. Blade, Twister, Goldeneye, TFTC: Demon Knight or The Mask of Zorro would be awesome or since you did The Rock already: Bad Boys or Armageddon.
In the extended edition there's a scene with the original seats made for the aliens. Those other seats were put in when David and Steve were going to use the ship.
Jeremy please please please can you review the UK series "The Inbetweeners"? I know you dont really review series, especially as it is not a drama but in the UK it is timeless and I really think you will love it. Six episodes a season, 20 minutes per episode so please check out S1E1 just to see what you think? I'm sure it's on US netflix. Shows about 4 boys going through school from about 16-18 years old and in the PC climate we live in now there will not be another series like this. Over here we would call it awseometacular and would love for you to give it a go!
The wife and I watched this on July 4th this year for like the millionth time and Bill Pullman's speech still gives me chills and makes my eyes water. Phenomenal movie! It's fun to watch and that's the point.
The music scored by David Arnold provided a terrifying texture to, "The Arrival," scene. He created fantastic, patriotic fanfare as well. I think this is one of the most underrated film scores.
Thank you for this, Jeremy! 👍👍 There are many alien invasion movies, but to me ID4 will be my all time favorite. Weird thing is I remember when it was released back in Summer of 1996, and all the hype and everything. And yet, I missed seeing it on the big screen. 😖 I really wanted to, but my parents thought I was still too young. But hey, I got to experience it on VHS later that year and have loved it ever since. I make it a tradition to watch it every Fourth of July. This movie is just freaking awesome and one of the greatest things that defines the '90s!
@Frost Stripe I actually have a huge soft spot for Revenge Of The Fallen, at least it’s entertaining and isn’t trying to be anything more than a dumb fun action movie, a movie like the Last Jedi doesn’t even have those things going for it, it’s ungodly boring, actually tries (and fails miserably) to be a good movie, and contains writing choices that actively piss me off
@@ronstoppable5659, a lot of people bash revenge of the fallen but it actually carried over a bunch of things that happened in the first season of the original cartoon. I definitely liked it more than most.
This is one of the greatest 90s movies ever made, and it could ONLY be made in the 90s. The speech that Bill Pullman gives to the pilots is honest to god one of the best speeches in movie history, even after seeing that movie a billion times it still gets me hyped! The only major issue I have with this movie 24 years later is that the aliens were never given a name, it still bugs me.
I have a tradition every year where I watch my copy of Independence Day over the course of three days: I watch the "July 2" part on July 2nd, the "July 3" part on July 3rd, and the "July 4" part on... ...well, you get the idea. 😁
I saw this as a kid. What an experience. When the first explosion went off on the city destroyer and the music swelled. The entire theater getting on their feet and cheering. I don’t think we’re ever going to get that experience again.
When I got the notification for this, I immediately thought "Wow! What a fun coincidence! He's reviewing an old movie that happened to be on TV all the way over here in South Africa last night! Crazy." ...Then I hit play and it slowly dawned on me to check the date.

When Will Smith punched the alien, everyone hit their feet. The whole theater erupted in cheering. I'm still trying to figure out what was going on then. So fun and a great memory for me.

You should do a review on the Netflix show “Dark”. Series just ended.
We just started it this weekend and now we are at episode 2 of season 3. Great show. I don't know where it is going but it is a fun ride.
I disagree. From what I’ve been told, this is a series beat gone into in the dark. No one who recommends it to someone will talk about it. I hear it’s best that way.
"Welcome to Earth" and the Bill Pullman's speech are the only things I liked. Glad if anyone likes this film.
2020: I'm gonna make EVERYTHING suck.
Jeremy Jahns: Hold my hair clippers.
My dad surprised me with tickets to the early preview showing a day before release. I had the biggest smile on my face through the movie, so much so my cheeks ached all the next day 😁
My dad was a commie and this is one of only two movies we watched together before he past away. And we laugh about muricans being muricans... so
Good feelings... its an awesome movie, chessie but in a good way
Many disaster films during the 90s. That is called foreshadowing my friend.
I can still remember to this day the three movies I saw in theaters that stuck with me from childhood to adulthood. Twister, Jurassic Park, and Independence Day! Those were experiences in the theater.
I was really excited when I first saw this pop up because I initially thought it was Independence Day Resurgence, so I was looking forward to you shitting all over it.
This however is pure gold, I salute you sir
He already did that when Independence Day: Resurgence came out hehe. :)
Home Alone deserves a review Jeremy.
Home Alone 2 as well!
I agree in 6 month's!
It's not Christmas yet
My favorite scene is actually the morse code scene.
"It's from the Americans. They want to organize a counter offensive."
"It's about bloody time! What do they plan to do?"
It's like they were just waiting for the Americans to save the day.
No, it's a "when are you going to join the fight?" unasked question from World War II. (The big mess began in 1939. What are you doing now?)
😆
Because that's exactly how the world works. America has radically more advanced technology than the europeans/
My 8yr old son walked in on me watching this and said “Is that Keanu Reeves?”
Well jeremy is his lost twin..!
@@rayray2528 No, he's his son.
That's a high compliment
Let's kick the tires and light the fires. Great review Jeremy. Independence Day is a classic. I love everything about this film from the effects, cast, story, etc. Probably the greatest speech from a President ever on film.
It’ll be a sad day when the lockdown ends and Jeremy shaves and gets a haircut.
Neither do I do you know how BAD it is in Arizona? We are SCREWED.
@B R It eventually will. Worst case scenario is a vaccine gets developed and eradicates this virus should the quarantine procedures not be enough.
B R It’ll end at some point lol.
@@perfectlybalancedasallthin9319 Dont hold your breath on a vaccine. It would be the first time we've made a vaccine for a sars virus that didnt have drastic side effects and death
@@bobbyrayvictory6905 Absolute nonsense. Are you one of those foolish anti-vaxxers/anti-science folk?
.
Vaccines have been a tremendous help for humanity since its invention and it helped eradicate a lot of viruses so I have no doubt that this will help with COVID as well.
.
I'll leave it to the actual professionals like scientists and doctors to decide if such a vaccine would be "bad."
"Sir I just want you to know that ever since I was abducted by aliens 10 yrs ago..etc,etc"....and they still looked at him like he was crazy.
"Good God....I've been saying it, I've been saying it for TEN DAMN YEARS! Ain't I've been saying it Miguel, huh?! I've been saying it".
That "Independent Day" speech still able to give me goosebumps till this day.
Why aren't there any Independence Day knock knock jokes?
Cuz freedom rings!!
Happy Fourth of July guys!
Yea Now it's a Party!
Because you haven't did a review for the movie "I Saw the Devil" lol please do a review bro!
Happy 4th of July, even though I’m actually British lol
Awwww yeah now it’s a ... party.
That was actually pretty funny
Jeremy lookn' like the cool '90s substitute teacher. 😎🙊😋
"It was like the slow peel of a band-aid" may be my favorite Jeremy Jahns quote of all time if only because it just about sums up my entire 2020 experience up to this point.
Oh my god I gotta call my brother I gotta call my house keeper I gotta call my lawyer ah forget my lawyer
That scene with Jeff goldblums work partner panicking is hilarious 🤣🤣🤣
Lol best line ever from the movie 😂😂
@@winterknight4307 totally love it so much so funny also
@@ethanholgate2512 the first time I heard that guy say it I laughed my ass off when I was a kid lol😂😂😂 and I still laugh when he says it
@@winterknight4307 yea man me to 🤣🤣🤣
Please review Big trouble in little china. Love your videos and would love to see a review of my favorite movie Big trouble in little china.
You had me laughing to tears with that "one punch fake alien face" rant. 🤣 I needed that, thank you!
That is some quarantine hair. This is the year where everyone's hair is just a bit longer.
It sucks when all you want is a nice hot-shave
The ship was modify for humans, wasnt like that originally jeremy jesus christ hahahah
It's been a while since i watched but back in the time, I watched it a lot and this came to my mind as well
I mean the aliens themselves were built similarly to us. So I dont see why it was so far fetched.
I was just finishing watching this movie and now you throw the review 🤣 love this movie. And no...there is no sequel.
Yes there is its called Independence day resurgence
@@randomreviews4278 nope. Never heard of it. Doesn't exist.
What sequel?
🧐
@@randomreviews4278 it is an abomination, remove the independence day IP and the move essentially falls apart.
@@randomreviews4278 don't know what you're talking about
Jeremy's hair looks like the aliens in independence day.
The music scored by David Arnold provided a terrifying texture to, "The Arrival," scene. He created fantastic, patriotic fanfare as well.
I think this is one of the most underrated film scores.
Thank you for this, Jeremy! 👍👍
There are many alien invasion movies, but to me ID4 will be my all time favorite.
Now review Transformers 2007
Why?
That would be great since the sequel started this channel
@@froststripe2865 good point.
2:44 This whole segment starting here had me dying Lmaoo
This is one of the greatest 90s movies ever made, and it could ONLY be made in the 90s. The speech that Bill Pullman gives to the pilots is honest to god one of the best speeches in movie history, even after seeing that movie a billion times it still gets me hyped!
The only major issue I have with this movie 24 years later is that the aliens were never given a name, it still bugs me.
I have a tradition every year where I watch my copy of Independence Day over the course of three days:
I watch the "July 2" part on July 2nd, the "July 3" part on July 3rd, and the "July 4" part on...
...well, you get the idea. 😁
Jeremy should review Mel Gibson’s The Patriot
This was the movie that introduced me to Will Smith
I think it did for most people including me.
Knew him from Fresh Prince
I don't remember where I met him... He was just kinda there one day hahaha
OMG this has to be one of my favorite movie reviews ever
The space force “doing something” comment was brilliant!!!😂😂😂
Hey Jeremy! Thanks for going back and looking at tons of movies! Always watch your views after a movie since we like the same things!!!
Steven Hiller: Now that's what I call a good review
Finally! The movie with the greatest motivational speech of all time! Finally Jeremy!
love the reviews man have a happy 4th.
Nine year old me had a problem with the cockpit of the alien ship too lol. Thanks for the nostalgia Young Keanu!
When I watched Jeremy’s last video I thought he had gotten a trim but I guess he didn’t. That hair looks as magical as ever!
Review FORREST GUMP,!
Jeremy please 🤞🏻
the behind the scenes is cool how they did the city burning....miniatures turned sideways with explosions going upwards filmed on an angle - epic...
I saw this as a kid. What an experience. When the first explosion went off on the city destroyer and the music swelled. The entire theater getting on their feet and cheering. I don’t think we’re ever going to get that experience again.
Does anyone else just wanna ruffle Jeremy's hair?
No.
It looks like John Connor hair from T2. Never ruffle angsty teen hair.
I want Jeremy to put gel in it and see how Flock of Seagulls 80s he can look.

I do
I can't believe america has a day named after this movie.
It wasn't that good a movie.
Sorry but your wrong there.
Yes. Yes, it was that good
Well... you’re wrong 🤷🏻♂️
he was joking guys, the day obviously wasn't named after the movie lmao
Lol
When I got the notification for this, I immediately thought "Wow! What a fun coincidence! He's reviewing an old movie that happened to be on TV all the way over here in South Africa last night! Crazy."
...Then I hit play and it slowly dawned on me to check the date.

@@kalethjimenezaguilar4819 thank you bro...! here's hoping
First video of Jeremy’s I’ve seen in a while since the start of quarantine. Is he slowly turning into John Wick or is it just me?
I thought the exact same thing!
It's just you. Never been mentioned before on any of his other reviews. Never.
You are a trailblazer, sir/ma'am/pencil.
The aliens can erase mankind's footprints on the moon, but they can't erase ID: Resurgence
I remember my dad taking me and my brothers to an advanced preview night. To this day, still my favorite theater experience. The crowd was PUMPED. I don't know why! When Will Smith punched the alien, everyone hit their feet. The whole theater erupted in cheering. I'm still trying to figure out what was going on then. So fun and a great memory for me.
We now clearly all need a Mars Attacks review, I love nothing more than watching Independence Day back to back with Mars Attacks
This was a really fun movie when watching as a kid, and still is a fun movie as an adult.
REVIEW "TRUE LIES" JEREMY!!! YOU GOTTA! YOU JUST GOTTA.
Love that movie 😀
oh hell yeah :)
Amazing film.
Another fun movie that’s over the top story makes it great! Plus Bill Pullman
Couldn't agree more folks!
As big of a fan as I am, I don't think I've ever clicked on one of his reviews faster in my life. I am pumped for this one.
I love you mentioned Encounters the hidden truth and Sightings ! Those were amazing shows in the 90’s I never missed lol 😂!! I thought I was the only one who remembers those shows!!
So does that mean your going to review the other movie that came out that year MARS ATTACKS :) :)
And I HATE that movie.
Ack Ack Ack

Mars attacks was the ugly cousin to independence day... it didn't look great but it always made you smile!
And then 'Small Soldiers'
