@@damonbridgmon7199 I promise as soon as I can I will do a video talking about all the things I have done and how they have held up. I've got more accessories on the way for the defender, so they will be more content coming.
I have the 59mm shocks front and rear and havent ran into any serious binding issues with them up front. Love em so far. They perform so much better than stock. Also, I'm running the brass wheels from injora and they are HEAVY. They really help keep it planted but you may want to consider getting some flubber stuffers if you're going that route. I had so much sidewall folding with them it was almost undriveable and killed the performance until I got the flubs. They also add a lot of realism, since thats what youre going for. Gives the tires more of an "aired down" look without them folding completely to the rim and they perform beautifully. Nice rig though keep up the good work!

Thanks for the info bro, but the oil only slows down the motion of the shock doesn't prevent it from moving ounder load, and also takes away from the realistic movement of the suspension by putting a thicker oil. I could remove the items I've got on top of the vehicle but then it isn't a scale Trail rig! And that is what I am building here. So update on my build. I got the new shocks on and installed the lift kit. I'm running the shocks with 35 w oil and both stes of springs doubled up on each shock. It's a little stiff for my taste so I'll be making adjustments. I've also got the 56x23 super swampers mounted on the stock rims. I didn't feel like messing with all the little bead lock screws. The truck has dramatically changed and it's awesome. I love the trx4m!!
Personally off the running 59s on the defender I found that putting 53 mm shocks in the front and 59 in the back is actually the best setup for good crawling capability but at the same time still keeping that realistic look. The front geometry on these rigs just don't work well with the 59 mm shocks. It's taking me a while to get a good set up on these little rigs but once you figure it out it is quite easy to try and counter the torque twist and also get plenty of flex.
I'm sure it adds a bit of top weight, but your rig is very nicely decorated. Watching it crawl is a pleasure. Can you explain why you think adding weight to the wheels will reduce twist?
It's definitely top heavy with all the extra accessories! The brush rims won't really help for the torque twist besides keeping the wheels planted to the ground, instead of always lifting one front tire when climbing. The brass rims in my opinion will actually make the torque twist ( body lean ) even worse as it takes more power to rotate the wheels causing the body to fall over more as it needs more power to move the wheels. These vehicles really do have a problem with torque twist!!
Hey Ryan thank you for helping build my trx4m it came last friday and it is completed just now but the drooping at the back is bad i might buy the 59mm shocks too and also I have a question there is rubbing when I turn do you have any advice on fixing the rubbing? thank you
Hi bro, I'm glad the videos are helpful. That's awesome!! welcome to the traxxas TRX4M world 😁 Are you running the original shocks in the back? If you running the 53mm shocks from Injora?! a good fix is using your original springs on the Injora shocks. Nice car mate! Have you modified the front axle slider plate?? I fitted the same ones to mine, but the front one literally digs into everything, so bad that I’ve actually removed it! I’m looking at yours and thinking maybe you have modified it?!
Hi bro and thank you very much! Yes when I fitted the protection slider plate I did bend it to try and mold it closer to the axle. It performs okay with them on but you do lose a bit of clearance. All I did was fit them and then gently manipulate them to fit closer to the axle by tapping with a rubber mallet, and a pair of pliers with a bit of leather stuck to the jaws to not damage the plate. I hope that helps you. And I wanted to say thank you very much for watching and commenting bro. 👊😉

Hi bro, I went to my local fishing shop and bought some cable leaders, in the color I wanted and then cut and crimp them to the size I wanted. Hope that helps
So even though these shocks are much longer than stock, you can still maintain the stock right height look becasue of the light weight oil and no preload when capping? Or is that long shock still stock ride height because of an adjusted shock tower mount?
Yes even though the shocks are longer than the original shocks you can still maintain the original ride height! The springs on the shocks are very soft and Capping them with no preload is kind of like running a droop setup. As capping it with the shock completely compressed it creates a negative pressure which wants to pull it in like a droop setup. The only thing I find with these 59 mm shocks is that the torque twist gets even worse 😔 I have tried multiple things to get rid of the torque twist, even fitting 2 springs on the back shocks to try and prevent it still didn't work. I have now removed 59 mm shocks and gone back for the 53mm soon I will do a video and see if that help reduce the torque twist again. I am also having trouble with torque twist due to the fact that I've got a lot of weight on my body to make it look like a trail truck. I hope this answers your question! I really appreciate you watching and commenting bro and I'm glad the videos are helpful ☺️
Bro I already replied to your last comment, I got some fishing cable leaders from my local fishing shop and made them to size!! There are many colors to choose from 😁 Hope this helps ✌️😉
Hi bro 👋 Thank you so much, I really appreciate the awesome feedback! And yes 100% you do detect a South African accent! 😅 I'm natural from South Africa, but I live in Portugal 👊😉
yea flex blades will do that but using them with shorter shocks is better for performance you just need to use a limit strap so it doesnt unload too much on you on climbs looks like you are more scale tho so i get it
Exactly because I built it as a scale trail Rig, so the flex blades just took away the realistic look. I will probably be using them on my tarantula builds. Thank you very much for the info as I always appreciate any knowledge I can get. Thank you very much for watching and commenting 🤜💥🤛
@@rcfungames if you never used them id argue the front ones are worse to run cause they unload on climbs sending the front end up in the air but then again i didnt try the front with a limit strap that would potentially take care of that issue and still get it to pivot for dropping when flexed
It was about quarter way out when I shut the lid. I don't like setting them up with positive-pressure I just like it's with a neutral pressure It makes for more realistic movement when filming. It's still got a bit of body roll but I'm going to try a few things in the next video. I hope the video helped you it wasn't my best feature as I'm still not feeling very well.

do i need new bearings if my defender doesnt drive slow speeds anymore. i need to press the gas almost completely till it starts driving and it just stops driving when i like press the gas completely
Okay so you've got bearings and it is holding back? Have you used it in water since you fitted the bearings? If not check your wheel nuts on too tight. Are you still running the stock gears or Reduction gears set?

@rcfungames it all went great. The hightrail is so heavy I doubled up on the springs, which, you would think would be too much. But it's so brassed out it runs like crazy. I mounted them upside down for the low weight and hooked them to the injora shock mounts. So much twist now! 👊✊️🤘
@@grassrootztakulusroq8011 Grab some original springs, from the original shocks, stretch them to fit to 59 mm if that's what you're running. Also increase the WT of your Shock oil. The torque twist in these rigs is a real problem! @@TarikHodzic-b1r okay and you running 20 WT oil? They have been great 💯
Nice car mate!
👊😉
@@rcfungames Thanks for getting back to me, I’ll have a go at heating the guard up and bending it. Keep the videos coming!
@@rcfungames I have the carbon fibre chassis too, but only have standard shocks at the moment, which I will probably replace after Christmas now, but it’s difficult knowing where to mount the shocks because there are so many different options
hi there, can you recommend a sticker sheet for the trx4m? With ARB Logo and stuff?
Hi bro 👋
I get my stickers from a local guy where I live.
He custom makes them according to whatever I want.
He is on Facebook I will share a link to his page.
Contact him via a message and let him know what you're looking for and he will come up with a sheet that is suitable for you.

Sweet crawling
Thanks so much bro 🤜🤛
How did you make the limb riser??? I’m wanting to make some for my defender
Hi bro, I went to my local fishing shop and bought some cable leaders, in the color I wanted and then cut and crimp them to the size I wanted.
Hope that helps
Bom video 😁👍
Muito obrigado 🤜💥🤛
Thank you
Anytime bro, thank you for watching and taking the time to leave a comment! ✌️😉
yes finnally
Sorry for the delay on this video, they will be more on this subject coming on the next video
@@rcfungames nothing to be sorry about
Yooo where do you find those stickers
@@Jay-ws7tv hi bro, I get all my scales stickers from

So even though these shocks are much longer than stock, you can still maintain the stock right height look becasue of the light weight oil and no preload when capping? Or is that long shock still stock ride height because of an adjusted shock tower mount?
Yes even though the shocks are longer than the original shocks you can still maintain the original ride height! The springs on the shocks are very soft and Capping them with no preload is kind of like running a droop setup.
As capping it with the shock completely compressed it creates a negative pressure which wants to pull it in like a droop setup.
The only thing I find with these 59 mm shocks is that the torque twist gets even worse 😔
I have tried multiple things to get rid of the torque twist, even fitting 2 springs on the back shocks to try and prevent it still didn't work.
@@rcfungames Awesome. Keep up the great work. So informative for noobs like myself. Subscribed!
@@megaijin so glad to hear that and thank you so much for subscribing and joining RC fun and games 🤜💥🤛
Where do you get the cable/ wire on the hood?
Bro I already replied to your last comment, I got some fishing cable leaders from my local fishing shop and made them to size!!
There are many colors to choose from 😁
Hope this helps ✌️😉
What size nut driver is being used install the shocks?
@@chadharris5072 I believe the same size that you use to remove the wheels.
Thank you, thought it looked smaller and was needing another tool to work with the carbon fiber frames.
I love your videos explains things so well, and they are very informative. But do I detect a South African accent, or am I smoking my socks?
Hi bro 👋
Thank you so much, I really appreciate the awesome feedback!
And yes 100% you do detect a South African accent! 😅
I'm natural from South Africa, but I live in Portugal 👊😉
Awesome I am also from South Africa but live in the Netherlands! Awesome videos keep up the great work
yea flex blades will do that but using them with shorter shocks is better for performance you just need to use a limit strap so it doesnt unload too much on you on climbs looks like you are more scale tho so i get it
Exactly because I built it as a scale trail Rig, so the flex blades just took away the realistic look.
I will probably be using them on my tarantula builds.
Thank you very much for the info as I always appreciate any knowledge I can get.
Thank you very much for watching and commenting 🤜💥🤛
@@rcfungames if you never used them id argue the front ones are worse to run cause they unload on climbs sending the front end up in the air but then again i didnt try the front with a limit strap that would potentially take care of that issue and still get it to pivot for dropping when flexed
did u extend the shaft only half way up when closing the shock?
It was about quarter way out when I shut the lid.
I don't like setting them up with positive-pressure I just like it's with a neutral pressure
It makes for more realistic movement when filming.
It's still got a bit of body roll but I'm going to try a few things in the next video.
I hope the video helped you it wasn't my best feature as I'm still not feeling very well.
@@rcfungames it helped pretty much
Do those shock make the vehicle taller
There is not much in it but it will definitely increase your right height by a couple of millimeters.
What shock oil are you using?
I believe I show the bottle in the video, but it is 19WT 200CPS
It's a bit thin but it makes for a very realistic movement
@@rcfungames I must of missed t
It. Thanks! Great video I will for sure be checking out more later!
@@kerryg4466 any time ☺️ thanks so much I really appreciate it 🤜🤛
Sry m8, where i can buy the stickers?
No worries bro, I got them from a local guy that makes scale stickers.
He is on Facebook but he is located in Portugal.
I don't know where you are located, but if you want I will share you a link to his Facebook page.
Just let me know 👍
do i need new bearings if my defender doesnt drive slow speeds anymore. i need to press the gas almost completely till it starts driving and it just stops driving when i like press the gas completely
i dont reallz know how to explain it i would send u a vid or sum like that
do u use neutral pressure also on front shocks
Okay so you've got bearings and it is holding back? Have you used it in water since you fitted the bearings?
If not check your wheel nuts on too tight.
Are you still running the stock gears or Reduction gears set?
@@TarikHodzic-b1r you can or find me on Facebook Ryan Vasconcelos ore RC Fun&Games if you send me a friend request then we will be able to share videos so I can try and help.
@@TarikHodzic-b1r yes I do
I didn't get instructions with mine
Instructions are a crapshoot with injora. I love the parts, but every part is sketchy as to what you're going to get instructions wise.
It's pretty straightforward fitting any of these upgrades, but if you're having any difficulty look through my channel you should find everything you need as I have done in detail upgrade videos on almost every single component they sell for the TRX4m
And if you ever have any doubts feel free to ask.
👊😉
@rcfungames it all went great. The hightrail is so heavy I doubled up on the springs, which, you would think would be too much. But it's so brassed out it runs like crazy. I mounted them upside down for the low weight and hooked them to the injora shock mounts. So much twist now! 👊✊️🤘
@@grassrootztakulusroq8011
Grab some original springs, from the original shocks, stretch them to fit to 59 mm if that's what you're running.
Also increase the WT of your Shock oil.
The torque twist in these rigs is a real problem!
I would definitely like to see some stiffer springs, come with the sharks nowadays especially with the weight that we are running on some of our rigs! 👊😉
oh no my torque twist got even worse
Have you adjusted the spring preload on the back shock?
@@rcfungames do u meen if i adjusted the black ring that i can put down and up? if yes . yes i did its almost fully down
@@TarikHodzic-b1r okay and you running 20 WT oil?
I would say if you're still struggling with a torque twist there is something too tight on the system which is causing it to be under load so it keeps pushing you over as if you were trying to climb a hill.
You need to go through all the components and make sure nothing is binding or causing friction.
@@rcfungames i am running 30wt oil so what do u meen by too thight in the system
You need a swaybar
Indeed 👍
Don't put so much junk on the roof
Ok!
