The MOST IMPORTANT Trick to Fishing a SPOON for Bass

  • Fishing for bass with spoons is awesome this time of year especially as we go in to winter fishing and the cold water periods. it seems hard baits like spoons that mimic forage such as shad can be key to triggering bass to bite. One of the most important tricks to fishing magnum spoons I have found is not allowing the fish to jump once they're hooked. You basically reel down and drag the fish in and boat flip them no matter how giant they are. We go through some spoon fishing tips and how to find the right spoon bass on your graph.

    A rod recommendation from me to you, is a 7'3 Heavy Glass Evergreen International Combat stick Jackhammer rod. Rod is so damn strong and bulky that I've caught 50 lb red fish on it, crevalles, small tarpon, sharks, etc. Extremely strong rod, I call it the Cadillac version of an Ugly stick. Rod is super fancy looking but Extremely powerful and strong as well. If you had a 18lb largemouth on it and had him hooked good, you can 10/10 boat flip that sum'gun.

    Jeez....I've been fishing these big spoons all wrong....which would explain why I've never caught a fish on one. I've been retrieving it more like a swimbait than popping it off the bottom like this. I'm already worried about snagging something on the bottom though....but I guess that's the chance you take if you want to use these things properly. Can't wait to get out there next weekend and try this technique out.

    • @mikeybalzz
      @mikeybalzz  4 года назад +1
