This is so good. After watching so many tutorials I really appreciate you take the time to write and edit what you're saying. Most channels "wing it" and ramble and repeat themselves. Winging it is fine, but they don't edit any of the repetitive or useless info out of their videos. What you're doing is next level and I appreciate you so much.
Thanks for seeing exactly what I'm trying to do. There's a couple of big philosophies behind this channel: 1. Tutorials should be as concise as possible so music-makers can get back to music. 2. Tutorials should be so and effective that one video should be all you need on a given topic. For my channel to meet those goals, there needs to be a ton of preparation behind each video. I still have a long way to go, but that's pretty much why I started this channel.

Nice video. Ive never understood why Kontakt is called a sampler since it doesnt sample. Its just a sample player. The original hardware samplers were way more useful because you could actual sample with them and then manipulate what youve sampled or resampled.
I get what you're saying. Kontakt hasn't done the best job describing what it can do and who it's actually for. For the longest time it was just "the plugin I have to use to play that piano I like". Kontakt can't record samples but it can edit samples to build out sample libraries. However, a tiny percentage of Kontakt users actually build out their own sample libraries. The rest of us will always use it as just a sample player. Thanks for watching!

It would be great to add a version of Kontaky that actually did sampling, resampling and massive mashups of samples. Then I think it could confidently say its a sampler. Theres still something very weird about the UI of Kontakt for me. Harks back to the early days of weird interfaces that NI brought out.

Nice walkthrough. Have 6 and honestly didn’t know what purge did, and it’s definitely helped with my Output libraries. One thing I haven’t found though is a way to have this happen automatically in preferences when I load an instrument, so I’m not having to do it every time. Same with the View menu - a way to save in preferences my preferred view (ie edit view).
Purge is so incredible to use, it took me way to long to figure that out. I do wish there was a way to set this up automatically, especially if you have a machine that can handle big kontakt libraries. I could imagine an update allow that in the future, hopefully soon. Now that I'm thinking about it, I remember seeing a way to make purging a "default" but it seemed pretty complicated that I didn't bother remembering.

Thanks so much for the feedback! It means a ton. My goal is simply to make the best music production tutorials possible, so good to know that already are working. For SSDs, if it's going to stay at your desk, I've been really happy with the Samsung T7 or T9. Both are great. However if you plan on traveling with it, you can get a cheap case for it that gives it some protection from falls and bumps.
It took me years to learn about that purge button too. Now that a lot of computers are really fast, I'm wondering if the purge button will become somewhat of a default option. And thanks for watching!
I can't believe that I have been using the stuff for decades and never knew what the purge button did. I always figured it was something pretty important seeing how it is front-and-center at the top of the control section. I also wrongly assumed it was for some complicated setups that I never used. I wish that I had known sooner that it was as useful as it really is. I'm kind of surprised that it doesn't have some sort of tooltip that pops up and tells you what it does whenever you hover over top of it. I'm guessing that it probably does but it's some settings buried in preferences and turned off by default. Something that I'm trying to figure out now is is it actually possible to send audio through kontakt and use the effects section on certain patches as audio effects. I have a real organ and I would love to be able to record the real organ and then send it through the Leslie effect that is on the built-in organ inside one of the standard libraries because I have several other Leslie effects through different guitar processors and whatnot but none of them act like a real Leslie as far as the rise and fall characteristics whenever you hit the button the switch between fast and slow but the one inside of kontakt does.
Yeah that purge button is such a key part of using Kontakt. I think in the past on older machines, it was something you probably didn't want to always use. But with how fast files can upload now, it seems like it should be a default setting. Glad you can keep purging those samples!

What an incredibly helpful video. The "single instance" use VS multi use was something I would have figured out much faster if I had watched this. Great video. If you're watching... I have full Kontakt 6 already and indeed use it extensively, and I must admit the new interface actually appeals to these "old" eyes of mine. With my upgrade price being much cheaper than full, would recommend the upgrade?

The difference between Kontakt 6 and 7 is mostly in the user interface and with the new Factory instruments that come with 7. I do think the interface is much better, and the new instruments that I used did sound good enough and solid. So if those are important enough for you then consider it. For me, if I didn't plan on buying anything else during the holiday sales I would upgrade Kontakt because it's fun to buy stuff during the Black Friday sale, but if you're trying to decide between upgrading Kontakt or buying something else you're really interested, I would probably go with the other thing.
Hey, even for us "old hats", the discussion of single-instance vs. multis is still valuable. Thanks to Onesto's video, I don't have to feel guilty doing it either way. I can pick the way I want to on that day or with that project, and put the rest of it out of my mind.
What a horrible thing for Native Instruments to do. I just purchased Kontakt 7 and get a black screen when trying to open it. After research It is said that was needed is a special driver to use it Direct3D 11.1 This should have been in big bold letters on their website, I would have passed on the purchase. I did not see this info on the website. Now I guess that I have to buy a new graphics card for my PC Computer. Is there a workaround?

I am having an issue all of a sudden opening up kontakt in my daw. Every time I open it back up, it shows all my instruments using kontakt none of them will play without me unloading and loading back in the instrument which means it doesn’t save any of the changes I made on the instrument. Any reason it won’t load up ready to play? It even shows it’s playing on the meter but the sound isn’t playing until I load and unload it. A big hassle to do every time I open up my project to have to reload every single instrument.
Very well explained and presented how to use this program. A few months ago I installed kontakt 7 but for some time it seems like it doesn't work, the word demo is displayed in red 🤔

Great video definitely very helpful. I have though one huge problem with KONTAKT 7 I use it in VE Pro for my template and every time I open the project the volume and the pan are completely to the LEFT any idea how can I resolve it without redoing the whole template.

Question I cant seem to get Native Instruments to answer. Can you play Kontakt stand alone for an indefinite time like 3 hours non stop? Mine times out at 2hrs at first then 30mins. I then have to restart or click the panic ! button on interface. Please help. Anybody.
Why does my Kontakt 7 not have the drop down tabs at the top? It only says file, library, and view. No workspace management or and of the other drop down tabs
One thing I didnt like about Kontakt was the lack of resizable screen - it was practically unusable on 4k monitors. I heard this one now has a fully resizeable gui - how has the experience been with that?
The resizeable GUI has been stable so far. The thing that now bugs me is that Kontakt Libraries are sometimes at different widths. But I would say it's now usable on 4k monitors.
I don’t have a 4K screen, but from the complaints in the Native Instruments forum, it appears that the fonts and UI elements do not scale. In other words, you can expand the window, but the type is still barely readable. Also, because the custom UIs for most libraries are built using bitmapped graphics, they do not resize with the window. There is a new Native UI with Kontakt 7, but only the new Factory Library uses it. All of your legacy libraries will have to be updated. Particularly for third party libraries, there’s no telling when or if this will happen. So, if a scalable UI is important to you, I’d wait until the libraries you want to use have been updated.
Thanks for watching! That’s a good question, when you get Kontakt 7 installed, you do not need to uninstall Kontakt 5 or 6. But I think it could be a good idea if you don’t plan on using Kontakt 5 or 6. I uninstalled my old Kontakt’s because I like Kontakt 7 so much more.

a real easier thing made possible with 7 version, is the ability to automatically load each instruments (multi inst preset) in omni mode..it's a real game changer
I just refreshed my memory about Komplete Now and I think it's best for someone who's curious about NI products. I wouldn't get the year subscription, instead I'd try it out for 2 or 3 months, and if you're really liking it, start to ease your way in with Komplete Select or Komplete Standard. And when it comes to Kontakt and Komplete Now, you'll get access to a lot of good beginner Kontakt Libraries from NI. And of course you can download the Free version of Kontakt in the meantime too.
I have Komplete 14 Collector's Edition and a brand new S61 MK3. Now, I just need to learn how to use them. Ditto for Ableton Live 11 Suite. ... and a converted gaming PC with 256GB of RAM. (if i don't learn how to use them, some kid is going to get a sweet sweet deal... like on the Arturia Keylab88 MK3 of just sold for next to nothing.) My point in saying all of that? Find an old guy with money and chronic GAS but not much talent or patience.

Let me try to help you! I think what you need to do is open up an instance of Kontakt. Then select an instrument to load. Then load up another another instrument and you'll see that get loaded right below it. And you can keep continuing to do that if you'd like. Hope that helps!
So when using it for multiple libraries in one instance of Kontakt--as I always have in the past, I have to ask why did they make it so easy to erase everything you already have loaded into your "window," you have to be really careful adding new samples or it wipes out everything you've loaded already. I guess some of this is due to various different brands that don't react the same way? But I kind of think it's mostly Kontakt's fault. I didn't ever has this problem with the previous Kontakts.
Great video. Current issue I’m running into. I have Ableton Live 9, and just recently purchased Komplete 14 standard which includes Kontakt 7. I had Native Access install everything, but Kontakt 7 doesn’t show up in my plugins, however Kontakt Player 6 does as well as some of the other plugins I installed. All were installed in the same location so I’m not sure what’s happening. Can anyone help?
That answer mostly depends on what kind of Kontakt libraries you plan to use. If you have libraries that require the full version than Kontakt 6 is what you'll use. In your case I would use Kontakt 6 since it's the full version and you won't run into any limitations with the Player version

Hey guys! HOW DO REMOVE THE DEFAULT PAN IN KONTAKT? I have found it difficult to find information on this. Essentially, for example, if a key is played on the left, the instrument will sound louder on the left side of the headphones. The same goes for keys played on the right side, which makes the sound on the right headphone louder. How can I remove this effect so that is sounds centered and not based on key position? Thank you!
Thx for the concise video. So rare, and very helpful! You respect peoples' time. I dig it! But I have a question. I've been searching through various vids, and haven't yet found an answer yet. Perhaps you can help: If I have the new Kontakt 7, do I still need to use the Komplete Kontrol Software, and if so, for what? I have Komplete 13, and a bunch of Spitfire Library's too. They're all NKS. Now the new Kontakt 7 has a new and improved library search function which, unless I'm missing something appears every bit as good (?) and functional as Komplete Kontrol, AND there is now a keyboard at the bottom to show key switches and ranges and such (was there before? - never saw it). So, do you think there is still any reason to run Kontakt inside Komplete Kontrol instead of using just instances of Kontakt in my tracks? I'm using Logic Pro X, btw. Thanks for your insights! Keep the short and sweet vids coming, much appreciated! PS: I have a KK keyboard controller, but mostly just look at my large monitor screen to choose patches (easier to see), and don't use any of this for live performance.
Thanks for the feedback and for checking out the channel! The thought of wasting people's time terrifies me, so I always make sure these videos get to the point. I'm in a similar scenario as you. I still choose to use Komplete Kontrol plugin for my Kontakt Libraries because of NKS. I love how NKS automatically maps out my KK controllers, I feel like it's more fun and quicker to change things on the fly. I don't use really use my keyboard to browse instruments and presets, I'll use my monitor for that. Although Kontakt 7's browser and plugin overall has a better UI, I still choose Komplete Kontrol due to the way it lets me tweak a library.
Hey great video, as someone who doesn't really own any other Kontakt instruments at the moment, do you think it's worth getting Kontakt 7 for the Factory Library 2? Are people actually using the factory library for production?
That's a great question. I do come across producers who use Factory Library 2 presets. A lot of times, it's used as a "raw" sound that is transformed from effects. So the sound isn't really used for its high fidelity but rather as a string or guitar that will become something that is string-ish or guitar-ish. If the sound is gonna be front is center, or you want it to sound very realistic, you'll probably want to look into Kontakt libraries. Based on your question, if you're new to Kontakt, especially music production, I would stick with the Factory sounds. It's a great starting point. And there's a chance that the presets in there are exactly what you need for now. And it's possible that the genre of music you want to make is perfect for those stock presets. And then sometimes a song needs a sound that's more polished and realistic. If you have any more questions let me know, hope this helps!
Hey Louis, that’s a great question. The easiest way to do that is to open up Native Access, find and click the library you want to install, and look for either a “uninstall library” button, or there will be a “how to uninstall” link that will show you how to manually uninstall Kontakt libraries.
The first vid that gives me the understanding that Kontakt and Kontakt 7 (player) when loaded in Logic are different. Most vids don't explain that if you want to have multiple instruments loaded with access to separate midi and audio out you need Kontakt, not player! When I then load my version it doesn't allow me to use certain instruments as it's out of date! Am I right in thinking this is a way to get you to upgrade?
You got it, glad this video can help! And you're right, that's one of the benefits of upgrading. I would say that the bigger benefit is getting access to licensed and unlicensed Kontakt Libraries. The unlicensed libraries are often pretty cheap, and sometimes even free. Anyways, thanks for watching!
It's kind of both haha. From my experience, it depends on which version of Kontakt was used to make the Kontakt Library. So if a Kontakt Library was made with 7.5, then it is compatible for version 7.5 and newer. I'd be sure to check the product page to see which version of Kontakt it is compatible with.
I’m using an M1 Mac Mini from 2020. Nothing crazy. My experience with Kontakt Instruments is that they are memory (RAM) heavy more so than CPU heavy. I use 16GB of RAM and that’s been fine for my uses. You can also use the Purge tip from the video.
Thanks for this video. Native Instruments is a pain in the butt on tutorials. I just wrote them asking for help. All of their videos are still on version 6. And even your video is a year old and looks nothing like what I just downloaded today. Kontakt is $150 now and is completely useless if you don't know how to use it!
Kontakt can be a tricky one to understand. So I'm glad this video can help simplify what it does. I just put out a video on Komplete Kontrol since that's sort of hard to understand at first. Kontakt just got updated to Kontakt 7. It's mostly the same with some added UI updates. I think it's easier to browse and find sounds now. Thanks for watching!
I have trouble connecting Kontakt to my Ableton, it only downloads as a standalone app and not as a VST3, and I have no way to get the two programs to communicate with eachother
Is it possible to switch instruments using the computer keyboard in a own created instrument bank? - I don't want to use the mouse cursor because I play the digital saxophone and it is not practical.
I can't think of any way to switch instruments with a computer keyboard or hotkey. I do wonder if there's a way to switch using a MIDI controller with knobs or sliders. Wish I could help more!
@@ThisIsOnesto Of course, you can change instruments using a midi controller - just set the appropriate PC (program change) - I do this on pads, but I don't always have a controller with me and I would like to be able to switch it with the computer keyboard.

That’s not a stupid question at all. I know exactly what you’re trying to go for. Before you consider this software, make sure that you can connect your Yamaha Keyboard to your computer via USB or USB C. It can also connect via MIDI but you’ll need a dongle to connect to your computer. If you can’t connect your Yamaha, then you’ll want to consider a MIDI keyboard. They can be pretty affordable. I would check out Arturia’s Keylab Essential (more bells and whistles) or M-Audio (less bells and whistles). And when it comes to software, with what you’re trying to do, here are three options. If you have a Mac, I would first check out MainStage. It’s $30 and you’ll get a lot of great sounds. If MainStage doesn’t interest you, then go ahead and check out Kontakt (if your budget is tight, make sure you get it on sale). Kontakt will have a lot of stock sounds that are solid. And a free option is to look into Spitfire Audio’s Labs. Here you’ll find a lot of good free sounds. However, you’ll need to use a DAW (digital audio workstation). Which is a whole other thing, but you can find some good free options like GarageBand or Reaper. Hopefully this helps, and thank for watching!

Kontakt has been on my wishlist for years. A matter of time until I get it I suppose, because more often than not when I see an instrument with a great value for kontakt it turns up to be for the paid/full version (not for kontakt player) :/ Specially very interesting vocal libraries , etc. One of the very few plugins right now that make me feel like I'm really missing out. Love💙 edit: omg what's that piece that starts at around 3:36 ? is it part of a song of yours?
That's sort of why I would recommend getting the full version of Kontakt. For those libraries that require the full version. And I'm very proud to say that what you heard was a little something that I made. It's super pretty huh?! Making music has been a big struggle of mine. I just don't know what to make at times, it's been sort of an identity issue. I'm trying to figure out what kind of producer I am. But hearing that it made an impression on you, really helps. Thanks!

I watch tons of anime and it reminds me of the overwhelmingly beautiful/emotional type of scenes. I'm serious, you really really should make a full song out of it. I can hear it in my head with some subtle drums/perc as a chilled/atmospheric-emotionally-intense kind of track. That's a good question. I would try clicking the options button near the top right corner. And then clicking the MIDI setting. This should be where you can set up your keyboard. I hope that helps!
If you buy Komplete 14 Standard you get the full version of Kontakt 7. Another reason why Standard is the most popular Komplete 14 bundle. It really is a great value.
One good trick i found out about Kontakt is if u Batch Re-Save a library it loads faster. But i dont know much about it, so if anyone know if it then takes up extra space lemme know pls
Yes! Batch Re-Save is another great way to get libraries to load faster. I only wanted to share 1 fast upload tip, and I decided to go with the purge tip. I actually don't know what if Batch Re-Save takes up extra space in your hard drive. I'm sure it does, but maybe not as much as the original library??

For SSDs, if it's going to stay at your desk, I've been really happy with the Samsung T7 or T9. Both are great. However if you plan on traveling with it, you can get a cheap case for it that gives it some protection from falls and bumps.

It took me years to learn about that purge button too. Now that a lot of computers are really fast, I'm wondering if the purge button will become somewhat of a default option. And thanks for watching!
I can't believe that I have been using the stuff for decades and never knew what the purge button did. I always figured it was something pretty important seeing how it is front-and-center at the top of the control section. I also wrongly assumed it was for some complicated setups that I never used. I wish that I had known sooner that it was as useful as it really is. I'm kind of surprised that it doesn't have some sort of tooltip that pops up and tells you what it does whenever you hover over top of it. I'm guessing that it probably does but it's some settings buried in preferences and turned off by default. Something that I'm trying to figure out now is is it actually possible to send audio through kontakt and use the effects section on certain patches as audio effects. I have a real organ and I would love to be able to record the real organ and then send it through the Leslie effect that is on the built-in organ inside one of the standard libraries because I have several other Leslie effects through different guitar processors and whatnot but none of them act like a real Leslie as far as the rise and fall characteristics whenever you hit the button the switch between fast and slow but the one inside of kontakt does.
Yeah that purge button is such a key part of using Kontakt. I think in the past on older machines, it was something you probably didn't want to always use. But with how fast files can upload now, it seems like it should be a default setting.

I have full Kontakt 6 already and indeed use it extensively, and I must admit the new interface actually appeals to these "old" eyes of mine. The difference between Kontakt 6 and 7 is mostly in the user interface and with the new Factory instruments that come with 7.
I do think the interface is much better, and the new instruments that I used did sound good enough and solid. So if those are important enough for you then consider it.
For me, if I didn't plan on buying anything else during the holiday sales I would upgrade Kontakt because it's fun to buy stuff during the Black Friday sale, but if you're trying to decide between upgrading Kontakt or buying something else you're really interested, I would probably go with the other thing.

Because I had Pharlight, and it was because of the sale, I bought it in 2022 for just $125.
What a horrible thing for Native Instruments to do. I just purchased Kontakt 7 and get a black screen when trying to open it. After research It is said that was needed is a special driver to use it Direct3D 11.1 This should have been in big bold letters on their website, I would have passed on the purchase. I did not see this info on the website. Now I guess that I have to buy a new graphics card for my PC Computer. Is there a workaround?

Yeah that trick is a RAM life saver. You can also do the purge trick in Komplete Kontrol.
I am having an issue all of a sudden opening up kontakt in my daw. Every time I open it back up, it shows all my instruments using kontakt none of them will play without me unloading and loading back in the instrument which means it doesn’t save any of the changes I made on the instrument. Any reason it won’t load up ready to play? It even shows it’s playing on the meter but the sound isn’t playing until I load and unload it. A big hassle to do every time I open up my project to have to reload every single instrument.

Great video definitely very helpful. I have though one huge problem with KONTAKT 7 I use it in VE Pro for my template and every time I open the project the volume and the pan are completely to the LEFT any idea how can I resolve it without redoing the whole template.

Question I cant seem to get Native Instruments to answer. Can you play Kontakt stand alone for an indefinite time like 3 hours non stop? Mine times out at 2hrs at first then 30mins. I then have to restart or click the panic ! button on interface. Please help. Anybody.

One thing I didnt like about Kontakt was the lack of resizable screen - it was practically unusable on 4k monitors.
I heard this one now has a fully resizeable gui - how has the experience been with that?
The resizeable GUI has been stable so far. The thing that now bugs me is that Kontakt Libraries are sometimes at different widths. But I would say it's now usable on 4k monitors.
I don’t have a 4K screen, but from the complaints in the Native Instruments forum, it appears that the fonts and UI elements do not scale. In other words, you can expand the window, but the type is still barely readable. Also, because the custom UIs for most libraries are built using bitmapped graphics, they do not resize with the window. There is a new Native UI with Kontakt 7, but only the new Factory Library uses it. All of your legacy libraries will have to be updated. Particularly for third party libraries, there’s no telling when or if this will happen. So, if a scalable UI is important to you, I’d wait until the libraries you want to use have been updated.

Thanks for watching! That’s a good question, when you get Kontakt 7 installed, you do not need to uninstall Kontakt 5 or 6. But I think it could be a good idea if you don’t plan on using Kontakt 5 or 6. I uninstalled my old Kontakt’s because I like Kontakt 7 so much more.

I just refreshed my memory about Komplete Now and I think it's best for someone who's curious about NI products.
I wouldn't get the year subscription, instead I'd try it out for 2 or 3 months, and if you're really liking it, start to ease your way in with Komplete Select or Komplete Standard.
And when it comes to Kontakt and Komplete Now, you'll get access to a lot of good beginner Kontakt Libraries from NI. And of course you can download the Free version of Kontakt in the meantime too.
I have Komplete 14 Collector's Edition and a brand new S61 MK3. Now, I just need to learn how to use them. Ditto for Ableton Live 11 Suite. ... and a converted gaming PC with 256GB of RAM. (if i don't learn how to use them, some kid is going to get a sweet sweet deal... like on the Arturia Keylab88 MK3 of just sold for next to nothing.) My point in saying all of that? Find an old guy with money and chronic GAS but not much talent or patience.

Let me try to help you!
I think what you need to do is open up an instance of Kontakt. Then select an instrument to load. Then load up another another instrument and you'll see that get loaded right below it. And you can keep continuing to do that if you'd like.

So when using it for multiple libraries in one instance of Kontakt--as I always have in the past, I have to ask why did they make it so easy to erase everything you already have loaded into your "window," you have to be really careful adding new samples or it wipes out everything you've loaded already. I guess some of this is due to various different brands that don't react the same way? But I kind of think it's mostly Kontakt's fault. I didn't ever has this problem with the previous Kontakts.

Great video. Current issue I’m running into. I have Ableton Live 9, and just recently purchased Komplete 14 standard which includes Kontakt 7. I had Native Access install everything, but Kontakt 7 doesn’t show up in my plugins, however Kontakt Player 6 does as well as some of the other plugins I installed. All were installed in the same location so I’m not sure what’s happening. Can anyone help?

That answer mostly depends on what kind of Kontakt libraries you plan to use. If you have libraries that require the full version than Kontakt 6 is what you'll use. In your case I would use Kontakt 6 since it's the full version and you won't run into any limitations with the Player version
How do you adjust the tempo of Kontakt 7 instruments?
So if you own Komplete select 14 you get no discount from upgrading to standard as only upgrade offers I see if you own 2 to 12 Komplete standard

Hey guys! HOW DO REMOVE THE DEFAULT PAN IN KONTAKT? I have found it difficult to find information on this. Essentially, for example, if a key is played on the left, the instrument will sound louder on the left side of the headphones. The same goes for keys played on the right side, which makes the sound on the right headphone louder. How can I remove this effect so that is sounds centered and not based on key position? Thank you!

If I have the new Kontakt 7, do I still need to use the Komplete Kontrol Software, and if so, for what? I have Komplete 13, and a bunch of Spitfire Library's too. They're all NKS. Now the new Kontakt 7 has a new and improved library search function which, unless I'm missing something appears every bit as good (?) and functional as Komplete Kontrol, AND there is now a keyboard at the bottom to show key switches and ranges and such (was there before? - never saw it).
So, do you think there is still any reason to run Kontakt inside Komplete Kontrol instead of using just instances of Kontakt in my tracks? I'm using Logic Pro X, btw.

I'm in a similar scenario as you. I still choose to use Komplete Kontrol plugin for my Kontakt Libraries because of NKS. I love how NKS automatically maps out my KK controllers, I feel like it's more fun and quicker to change things on the fly.
I don't use really use my keyboard to browse instruments and presets, I'll use my monitor for that. Although Kontakt 7's browser and plugin overall has a better UI, I still choose Komplete Kontrol due to the way it lets me tweak a library.

Hey great video, as someone who doesn't really own any other Kontakt instruments at the moment, do you think it's worth getting Kontakt 7 for the Factory Library 2? Are people actually using the factory library for production?
That's a great question. I do come across producers who use Factory Library 2 presets. A lot of times, it's used as a "raw" sound that is transformed from effects. So the sound isn't really used for its high fidelity but rather as a string or guitar that will become something that is string-ish or guitar-ish.
If the sound is gonna be front is center, or you want it to sound very realistic, you'll probably want to look into Kontakt libraries.
Based on your question, if you're new to Kontakt, especially music production, I would stick with the Factory sounds. It's a great starting point. And there's a chance that the presets in there are exactly what you need for now.
And it's possible that the genre of music you want to make is perfect for those stock presets. And then sometimes a song needs a sound that's more polished and realistic.

Hey Louis, that’s a great question. The easiest way to do that is to open up Native Access, find and click the library you want to install, and look for either a “uninstall library” button, or there will be a “how to uninstall” link that will show you how to manually uninstall Kontakt libraries.
The first vid that gives me the understanding that Kontakt and Kontakt 7 (player) when loaded in Logic are different. Most vids don't explain that if you want to have multiple instruments loaded with access to separate midi and audio out you need Kontakt, not player! When I then load my version it doesn't allow me to use certain instruments as it's out of date! Am I right in thinking this is a way to get you to upgrade?
You got it, glad this video can help! And you're right, that's one of the benefits of upgrading. I would say that the bigger benefit is getting access to licensed and unlicensed Kontakt Libraries. The unlicensed libraries are often pretty cheap, and sometimes even free. Anyways, thanks for watching!
Is upgrade optional or compulsory (like we can not use it if we don't upgrade it)?
It's kind of both haha. From my experience, it depends on which version of Kontakt was used to make the Kontakt Library. So if a Kontakt Library was made with 7.5, then it is compatible for version 7.5 and newer.
I'd be sure to check the product page to see which version of Kontakt it is compatible with.

I’m using an M1 Mac Mini from 2020. Nothing crazy. My experience with Kontakt Instruments is that they are memory (RAM) heavy more so than CPU heavy. I use 16GB of RAM and that’s been fine for my uses. You can also use the Purge tip from the video.
Thanks for this video. Native Instruments is a pain in the butt on tutorials. I just wrote them asking for help. All of their videos are still on version 6. And even your video is a year old and looks nothing like what I just downloaded today. Kontakt is $150 now and is completely useless if you don't know how to use it!
Kontakt can be a tricky one to understand. So I'm glad this video can help simplify what it does. I just put out a video on Komplete Kontrol since that's sort of hard to understand at first.
Kontakt just got updated to Kontakt 7. It's mostly the same with some added UI updates. I think it's easier to browse and find sounds now.

Is it possible to switch instruments using the computer keyboard in a own created instrument bank? - I don't want to use the mouse cursor because I play the digital saxophone and it is not practical.
I can't think of any way to switch instruments with a computer keyboard or hotkey. I do wonder if there's a way to switch using a MIDI controller with knobs or sliders. Wish I could help more!

That’s not a stupid question at all. I know exactly what you’re trying to go for. Before you consider this software, make sure that you can connect your Yamaha Keyboard to your computer via USB or USB C. It can also connect via MIDI but you’ll need a dongle to connect to your computer.
If you can’t connect your Yamaha, then you’ll want to consider a MIDI keyboard. They can be pretty affordable. I would check out Arturia’s Keylab Essential (more bells and whistles) or M-Audio (less bells and whistles).
And when it comes to software, with what you’re trying to do, here are three options. If you have a Mac, I would first check out MainStage. It’s $30 and you’ll get a lot of great sounds. If MainStage doesn’t interest you, then go ahead and check out Kontakt (if your budget is tight, make sure you get it on sale). Kontakt will have a lot of stock sounds that are solid. And a free option is to look into Spitfire Audio’s Labs. Here you’ll find a lot of good free sounds. However, you’ll need to use a DAW (digital audio workstation). Which is a whole other thing, but you can find some good free options like GarageBand or Reaper.

Kontakt has been on my wishlist for years. A matter of time until I get it I suppose, because more often than not when I see an instrument with a great value for kontakt it turns up to be for the paid/full version (not for kontakt player) :/ Specially very interesting vocal libraries , etc. One of the very few plugins right now that make me feel like I'm really missing out.

That's sort of why I would recommend getting the full version of Kontakt. For those libraries that require the full version.

I watch tons of anime and it reminds me of the overwhelmingly beautiful/emotional type of scenes. I'm serious, you really really should make a full song out of it. I can hear it in my head with some subtle drums/perc as a chilled/atmospheric-emotionally-intense kind of track. That's a good question. I would try clicking the options button near the top right corner. And then clicking the MIDI setting. This should be where you can set up your keyboard.

One good trick i found out about Kontakt is if u Batch Re-Save a library it loads faster. But i dont know much about it, so if anyone know if it then takes up extra space lemme know pls
Yes! Batch Re-Save is another great way to get libraries to load faster. I only wanted to share 1 fast upload tip, and I decided to go with the purge tip. I actually don't know what if Batch Re-Save takes up extra space in your hard drive. I'm sure it does, but maybe not as much as the original library??

Yeah it should work with FL10. And yeah, a lot of plugins can get complicated. Hopefully the next version of Kontakt streamlines a lot of things.

It's not a sampler. Doesn't have a sample recorder (as for exampke Halion has).😊. It's a sample player/manipulator/editor. As you know.
Yes, your answer is much more precise and correct than mine! I think I just used the term sampler probably because I was just mistaken but also because it seemed easier for others to quickly understand.
