I feel like I'm at the point of the semester where I'm overplanning to avoid doing anything. I definitely agree about the paper planner, couldn't live without it even though I know it could easily be replaced. Loved seeing your set up! I'm definitely going to adapt your book note template for my own comps exams!
Haha yes I definitely do that too! And yes for sure do that! Let me know if it works for you, or if you have any other templates you've found that works for you!
I love planning lol! And i also always like to figure out how many pages I have to read for a certain class or project - it really helps to organize my day around how many pages I need to read Thanks for these tips Katherine!
Now I feel real bad about my lack of planning organization as a 4th year PhD, which is just write things on my whiteboard that I need to do each day haha. I also split up my readings by page number so I'm with you on that.
Thanks for this Video Katherine. I am doing my phd in India, its very different here. We dont have much happening from the university except the course work. Sometimes I keep wondering if not for your channel I would have been so lost. Thanks for making such informative Vlogs. I am researching on the Psychological Predictors in cardiovascular diseases, which needs a lot of reading as its multidisciplinary. Sometimes my anxiety just pushes me to stick to the Research Question and Dissertation, but your channel reminds me to go in depth about the field to gain more knowledge. (Since we wont end up just teaching our research topic :) Thanks and Best wishes to you
Ah wow, that's interesting! I'm glad my videos could help you out! I really think it's so good to learn more about the fields you're interested in, in general.
Hi, Katherine I am a history student doing MPhil in india. I just happened to see your channel . Loved it and subscribed I want to do my PhD in USA. But the major hindrance is family expenses are already on my shoulders. I want to know about the PhD fellowships given to international scholars scholars. Thanks in advance
Hi! A lot of times international students get the same PhD fellowships, but it really varies by institution. I would suggest finding a few institutions you'd like to apply to, and then reach out to their DGS!
Thanks for the helpful video. One question about taking notes not-digitally. how do you know where they are ? if you need to go back, I miss the control-find button when I am taking notes on paper :( Thanks
Ahh I usually just have good recall about what class I read a certain book in, and can go reference that notebook. Sometimes, though, I'll have to search through the syllabus to locate a scholar or book and then find that notebook. It's not the most efficient! But I largely just prefer handwritten notes
@@KatherineWeiss Wow, Thanks for the quick response. I saw the Passion Planner on a video and seemed like a good idea. It's a bit pricey as far as planners go, but it seems to be very well put together and I need the detail. I'm just trying the figure out the best way to utilize it. I'm a PhD student at Drew U in NJ. I finished my classes just before Covid hit and now I'm doing my research beside teaching high school full-time and playing ice hockey. I'm trying to organize my readings/books. My dissertation is officially Arts and Letters. Drew is the only US school to offer this. But, I'm writing on NJ and WWI, It's manufacturing, Mobilization, and Memorialization. I am also touching a bit on Gold Star Mothers. It is something I knew very little about, but is the details are very interesting. Thanks again,

I am in this exact same place. Planning and replanning, but writing? Not so much…. I hope it passes soon!

Hi Katherine! Where’d you buy your planner? I can’t find the Day Designer vertical weekly layout anywhere!
I bought it at a Staples last January!!!

Hello, Have you looked at Passion Planner?
I have seen ads for it but never bought it- it was always a little out of my price range- I just found this one at an office max!
