But I didn't want it to go to waste & I hope this answers some of the questions I've been getting about how I stay organized in grad school. sending you all lots of love & coffee vibes 💓☕️💓

I very much enjoyed this video. I loved every minute of it. It’s very interesting to hear about all the specific articles, books, theories and methodologies you research. I had to Google so many things 😄 fascinating! Please make more videos, if you can ❤ thank you for sharing your work with us.

I love glimpsing the “behind the scenes” of your grad school life - it sounds intense 🫠 and I appreciate how you break it down for us (and yourself!) As always, your pages are so satisfying to see and I’m cheering you on!! ☕️🥐💛

Thank you so much for sharing your process! This is almost *exactly* what I've been looking for, in terms of handwritten research note-taking. It's kind of a struggle to find examples of research notes online. I'm an older community college student and a volunteer docent at a contemporary art museum, some of the artists in your notes we're lucky to have in our permanent collection. During one of our docent training sessions, we were assigned to read bell hooks! Currently, I'm taking art-related notes in an XL hardcover gridded Moleskine but I've been considering getting either an A5 Leuchtturm for the numbered pages or a Stalogy, which I haven't tried yet.

Oh how funny - I'm an MPH student and I was just working on a paper about qualitative frameworks and discussing the use of phenomenology in health assessment work! I think you're right, there's some utility to phenomenology in the social sciences but it's hard to use other qualitative frameworks. Even in my area, most people either want quantitative or mixed methods at best, and their mixed methods isn't really all that mixed (doesn't count if it was just using a Likert scale, folks, lol). This was a great video, I absolutely love seeing your brain on paper and hearing about your experiences - it can feel so isolating in grad school when you're post-coursework and just buried in thesis land!

oh my gosh thank you so much for sharing your experience!! i find it so validating and also interesting to hear other's stories of methodological struggles! also totally agree - we must push back against grad school isolation 😤🙏🏻😤🙏🏻

Great video, Lauren! Loved your last point re: letting your organization system develop naturally- I’m working towards a dissertation defense and wholeheartedly agree! So neat to see how you are using your Stalogy A5- I received one last week, and you’ve given me some ideas for it, including reusing Starbucks order stickers 😊

    1. I'm Obsessed and I love your channel
    2. I am a 3rd year PhD student in Art Museum Education and Curation. Our research interests seem to overlap a bit and I love hearing your thoughts on art, feminism, and phenomenology because we are doing a lot of that in art education here and in the museum ed program I'm in!
