    My husband and I were binge watching your channel yesterday over margaritas and you inspired me to (FINALLY) defrost our freezer! The deed is officially done as of about 30 minutes ago! Thanks!

      Haha, I love hearing that!! So glad you got this pesky task out of the way. Also, love hearing that you're watching our videos while drinking margaritas, that's my style! Let us know if we're ever going to cross paths, we'd love to meet up for a drink or two!

    I hadn't really given it much thought until we got home from a 7 week trip. I was amazed at how much frost there was. It was 105° when we got home so I emptied the entire refrigerator and the freezer defrosted in about 10 minutes.

    • @GetawayCouple

      That's a good time for defrosting! I think this freezer would have taken at least overnight, which is hard to do when you fulltime lol.

    The flimsy cutting boards works beautifully. Haven’t been able to prevent ice build up so we tackle the job every 6-8 weeks so it doesn’t get too bad.

      Good to know! I'm curious how well this plastic cover I put in will work. Might need to switch to the cutting boards.

    Great video. "Hello my ragtime gal". Brings back memories from just a "few" years back. No good way to stop it from happening, but, the liners seem like the best short term solution. Enjoy the videos. Be safe. Safe travels. Later

    Great video and I agree with not using a hair dryer. Too much time and having to hold it the whole time. No thanks. We have had this trailer for about eight months and live in it full-time when we are on property, which is a fair amount. The trailer and the refrigerator have been amazing. The new problem that we just came across and noticed yesterday was that our left lower food drawer at the bottom of the refrigerator was completely full of water. I need to find out what is clogged or why that is happening. If you have experienced this, were you able to find the problem?

  • @FullMetalNobody
    @FullMetalNobody 2 года назад

    Ya.. A hair dryer is NOT gonna damage or melt any fridge parts. Not hot enough like a heat gun..
    Either method runs the risk of electrocution or shorting out the circuit with accidental contact with water.
    The key is the plastic panels becoming warm so the ice lock releases.
    Then most of it will slide off or can be pulled away.
    Fast n easy method.. Doesn't exist.
    Clear winter window seal film works the best since it will seal over a little moisture and a hair dryer will seal it nicely.
    It's worked perfectly for almost 30 customers.

    We use the plastic cutting boards and Velcro them to the back wall and bottom of freezer. Just have to remove them from the freezer and defrosting is done in like 5 minutes. Go vlog through.

    • @GetawayCouple
      @GetawayCouple  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks! Yeah, so that's the method I was reading about and then I found that plastic lining and decided to try that. I'm finding that I'm getting frost between the lining and the freezer wall though. Do you get any frost between the cutting board and the freezer wall? Or does it all build up on the outside of the cutting boards?

    • @vernonanderson9252
      @vernonanderson9252 6 лет назад

      I get very little build up between the plastic sheets and the wall. However we don't let the frost build up and since taking the sheets out with frost on is so easy. The ice just falls off.

    We clean our freezer every 4 to 5 weeks. But we only started doing this after we waited a year to clean it the first time and it take us 2 hours to clean it out. But as I said we put it on our scheduled to do list every 4 to 5 weeks and it is easier.

    Hahaha....you guys are so funny!
    Not my RV freezer, but my kitchen freezer gets thick with ice. I defrost it the same way, hot pots of water (my girlfriend uses her blow dryer when she does it lol ;)
    It usually takes about an hour or so, to fully de-ice it!
    That was the funniest blooper EVER - Doggy Pops & a little song n dance routine! Hey, when in doubt, improvise lol!
    Always my best to you three 👌👍✌🏻😎

    There's probably a zillion ways to do this job and I've always found that opinions are like noses, everyone has one. 😏
    When I was a kid I watched my grandmother do what you did, except she left the hot water in for more like 2 hours. Not saying that's the way to do it, just an observation from the past.
    BTW, love the bloopers at the end of your vlogs, and enjoyed the spontaneous jig you did there at the end. My wife and I dance (not like that though) so I may have enjoyed that more than most. 😊

    • @GetawayCouple
      @GetawayCouple  6 лет назад +1

    Thanks for the journey. I have an unrelated question about your 5th wheel length. How much of the 5th wheel overall length overlaps the truck bed when hitched and is this a typical amount with most 5th wheels?

    • @GetawayCouple
      @GetawayCouple  6 лет назад +1

      Hey Mark! That's a great question that we don't know the answer to lol. We have not measured our front cap. I don't think it's a typical amount since each fifth wheel could be designed differently. It would also depend on the length of your truck bed. We have an 8 ft bed so I would think that we have less overhang than some. If you have a regular bed you need to watch how tight your turns are so the front of the fifth wheel doesn't scrape the side of your back window. Sorry we weren't too terribly helpful on this question!

    • @speedracer76
      @speedracer76 6 лет назад

      Getaway Couple we cook most anything in cast iron. To make cleaning and seasoning care easier I suggest the ringer. It’s just a square of ring mail that works well at getting off anything that sticks quickly with a little water. There is a new cast iron for the modern times www.stargazercastiron.com
      They are just getting started with one pan but I believe more are in the works.
      As for favorite thing to make is eggs almost every day.

      We love our cast iron but it's a bit of a learning curve to get it right. We watched a lot of Cowboy Kent Rollins on RUclips to figure it out. ruclips.net/user/krollins57 Cornbread, eggs, and bacon.... yum!
