1st Coyote Hunt with the new Talion XG35 for 2023. The Talion XG35 has a 640x480 resolution and magnification range from 2X-16X with a 65 foot FOV at 2X. It has a n excellent HD image, only weighs 24 ounces and a very sleek design without a lot of large knobs and external battery ports. It runs on a Pulsar APS5 removable rechargeable battery. There are 2 batteries provided with the scope for a run time of over 10-12 hours. I hunted 5 hours on first battery in mild weather and had 20-25% of battery life remaining. I never tuned the scope off during the hunt.
The Talion XG35 has all the features of a full size scope without the weight or bulk. It is very easy to setup, sight in and use in the field. The scope has 5 rifle profiles with 10 reticle shapes in 9 colors each and 8 color palettes. 3 Weaver mounts are available for proper eye relief for different types of rifles.
Overall, I was very impressed with the Talion XG35 scope.

Coyote hunting is about the only method of controlling the spread of coyotes and their numbers far exceed the number taken by hunters. Trapping coyotes does not work well at all as they are usually too smart to be taken with traps.
Science has shown that coyotes take a heavy toll on whitetail fawns. At least one study found that coyotes can eat as many as 75 percent of the fawns born in a single spring and deer populations are declining in some parts of the country, possibly as a result of an increase in coyote numbers.
Coyotes have spread to 49 states in the USA and are presently the most abundant livestock predators in North America, causing the majority of sheep, goat, and cattle losses. Hundreds of thousands of sheep, cattle, and goats fall victim to predators each year. In fact, predators cause some of the most significant losses to the sheep industry nationwide. Livestock losses attributed to predators cost U.S. ranchers and producers more than $71 million annually, according to statistics compiled by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) NationalAgricultural Statistics Service (NASS).
The coyote (Canis latrans) is a species of canine native to North America. It is smaller than its close relative, the wolf, and slightly smaller than the closely related eastern wolf and red wolf. It fills much of the same ecological niche as the golden jackal does in Eurasia. The coyote is larger and more predatory and was once referred to as the American jackal by a behavioral ecologist.

The thump of slug landing front on chest shot was awesome!

640x480 is not high definition but the high definition scopes are around $17k! Not sure of the price on this unit. *Edited to add* Looks like this scope is around $3500. There are several models of thermal scopes on the market in that price range. I think I’m going to wait until the HD thermal scopes drop in price before purchasing one. If I’m dropping that kind of money on anything firearm related it’s going to have a tax stamp attached to it! I like the higher power though!

Its very difficult to find any thermal optic that is 640 and 12 micron for under 5k. The sale they ran on these shows that the tech is getting cheaper and also is a pretty incredible piece of tech for the money.
