Hooray! Thanks for the review. Being an Audi guy, owning one is knowing why you like it. When my Audi was in the shop for warranty work, the dealer rented a Tesla from Hertz. Seemed like the Tesla was more of a software system built into a so-so car with a luxury price. Whereas the Audi is a luxury car first, with an electric motor. Which car is the most durable and dependable remains to be seen. My 8 year old eTron has been a great car.
I really like that EVs just look like normal cars now. In my mind the only reason to make them look funky is to keep people from buying too many of them.
Have either of them driven one of those yet? Maybe they were just referencing what they have driven or maybe it was a simple slip of the mind since they have not been behind the wheel of that one yet.
I don't think a lot of people are going to really cross shop a Tesla with this. Tesla's are great, but they feel like 1990's KIA's compared to the real luxury companies (Porsche, BMW, etc...). Funny enough, I recently drove an EV6 and it feels MORE luxurious than the Tesla Y...
Finally some normal door handles, physical buttons, and an opening moonroof. Tired of the pop out handles that freeze in the winter and fixed glass roofs.
We just got a 2019 Etron a few weeks ago. Exactly what I would expect from a luxury German brand: great comfort and performance topped off with random electronics glitches. Oh yeah, piano black was never a good idea.
Alex, Did you say northern California? It must have been disorienting to travel such a short distance for a debut and then find Roman sitting in the car. 😉
I play a game with myself whenever I'm on the road, guessing what make/model a car is before I can see the badging, especially challenging at night. More often than not, if it has cool tailights, it's an Audi. Now you say Audi is introducitng OLED customizable taillights? That tracks!
It took 21 minutes to mention the lyriq as competitor and that is probably the most obvious competitor. I assume it wasn't mentioned because it's being inferred no one would compare a Cadillac to an Audi. The lyriq outsells any German EV crossovers.
Not too mention the interior. Honestly the lyriq interior looks better than this Audi. But apparently it's not good enough to be considered a competitor in his eyes
In the age of basically everyone over the age of 12 already having a smartphone shoved in their face, I don't know if there is a feature more useless for these modern luxury car companies putting in a big ugly passenger screen. More expenses, less premium materials, uglier interior layouts. I truly don't understand it.
@@naveenthemachinein some respects people are told what they want, and made to believe they should pay more for it. I’m sure you know that is very easy for people to become brainwashed.
@ the docking station not so much imo because what if you have a thick phone case? Often thick cases won’t be able to fit in docking stations. More USB ports I agree though
The rear end is too rounded off/soft looking compared to the relatively chiseled front/side. The gloss black interior trim and driver displays that aren't shaped to match their rounded bezels are also disappointing in an all-new luxury EV.
This will probably ride 10% better than the model y juniper (non air suspension models), and will cost a shit ton more money, a more luxurious interior but I don’t think that’ll be enough to justify the cost especially something like the SQ6 who’s choosing that over the model y juniper performance (based on the new model 3 performance), Tesla has basically perfectly split the mainstream/ luxury segment with the 3/y, not even a Tesla fanboy you just gotta give them props with what they’ve Been able to do
@@CapELarry there are two recent studies by iSeeCars and Lending Tree which I think the OP is referring to. Why would looking at those studies be uninformed? To be fair though, those studies were not causal and did not imply why the vehicles got into accidents so hard to say Tesla itself is worse (or better) than anyone else just by itself as responsibility could equally fall on the driver or circumstance.
I find this very unattractive. It looks portly and cheap especially in that commercial van grade white paint. For the money and style I'd take a Cadillac Lyriq or Porsche Macan EV. And for goodness sake please stop using the shiny black plastic!
How many modern cars have you driven lately? 95% of them, gas or electric, are boring and dull jellybeans in white/silver/grey colors. That's what (boring) people want these days.
I don't think that there's been an Audi that's made me yawn before. There's ZERO character in these. Such a boring vehicle, inside and out, especially for what is gonna be a pricey one.
For heaven’s sake, Audi. Ditch the glossy black plastic trim.
Agreed! I swear modern Audi/BMW/MB interiors are a downgrade from 5-6 years ago. Too much shiny and hard plastic.

Why not mention the Porsche Macan EV which is build on the same platform and priced similarly before Porsche options?
Yup. Obviously. Much closer competition than Model Y which cannot hold a candle to the luxury and refinement of this Audi.
Have either of them driven one of those yet? Maybe they were just referencing what they have driven or maybe it was a simple slip of the mind since they have not been behind the wheel of that one yet.
We did but we ended up cutting that out because the video got suuuuper long...

The lyriq is much more of a competitor for this than model Y. The model Y is clearly not a luxury vehicle and not in the same ballpark as this

😆 I do the same
Ah Roman can’t help but take over your video haha. I want to hear your standard stuff more please. But not your fault
rock chips are going to destroy those painted grilles
I want 40% yoy depreciation!
Hey! that's the guy from that other show...
This would be at the top of the list for me, along with the refreshed GV70 electric. Very interested in the upcoming iX3.

And in no world does the ZDX look better than the LyriQ nice try Alex.
Yeah I heard that. He really isn't a fan of the GM evs
Not too mention the interior. Honestly the lyriq interior looks better than this Audi. But apparently it's not good enough to be considered a competitor in his eyes
@shethjones4494they have a long term test Chevy ev. Maybe it has soured his opinion on GM evs?
This is a nice looking car

People want those. Those things matter in the industry. Technology is evolving

Facts. A docking station and fast charging ports would be more useful
@ the docking station not so much imo because what if you have a thick phone case? Often thick cases won’t be able to fit in docking stations.

I'm a little bland-blasted by this one. Makes the Macan EV, even in base trim, more compelling.

No tri-motor? Bummer!
Peter Schreyer moves from VW to Kia and designs follow. (Jokingly) Did Luc Donckerwolke move from Hyundai to Audi? I see a larger 2022 Kona here...
Putting ambient lighting in your line of sight is so stupid
Too much piano black and they took buick's ugly infotainment bezels.

The manufacturer with the most accidents is Tesla.. so anything is better than them in my book.
You’re basing your choice of brand based off how many crashes?😂
Your book is very uninformed.

Stay in school kids
This is some seriously flawed logic.

I’m glad the jellybean design trend is over!
It was never a thing for Audi.
My god why powered charging doors? Just to follow Tesla bad choices?
Blinking brake lights! Hard pass.
Great review. Not interested in either vehicle. Batteries with wheels, how boring.

Really??
People bash EVs for being boring and then go buy a generic SUV with an anemic turbo 4-cyl.

Write to your senator
Maybe it’s just you that’s boring and not the car.
For anyone interested in technology, these vehicles are incredibly interesting.
@jayem8981 No way you actually think that this car is interesting lmao
Why is this any more boring than other Audis?? Audi has gotten very conservative with their vehicles in general
