I love how this song is talking about the problems of alcohol abuse yet was played at parties constantly when this came out
fr the irony
It was DD s there 😂
Pour up drank
Hey Ya
Because even though he knows the problems surrounding alcohol, he still falls into the peer pressure and ends up drunk
Kendrick Lamar is one of the best rappers of the last generation. His music has a lot of mental health.
Intense but well worth it !😊
@@getsugaallen6612 thats three dumbass
Damn, it’s crazy to think he’s last generation. Doesn’t feel like yestersy
I'm sorry, last generation? He's one of the few current rappers I follow.
More like 2nd to last, but still facts
“Baby why you babysitting two or three shots…” What a mood
The “yup” and “ yeas” made my day . What a reaction
Thank you so much!😊
fr always my favorite part😂😂
7:13 I had a therapist tell me something similar that really changed my viewpoint immediately. "If people really want to commit suicide, they won't tell anyone". At first it may seem messed up to say, but it's actually a really important thing for people with mental health issues to know. It means if you told someone about your S.I. then you desire help more than you desire death. It can really help prompt people to think about what they really need, and not just let their emotions run everything and be rash.
However this quote is also really important for people that feel guilty about not noticing signs of suicide. If you could've done something about it, they would have gone to you. The whole intention was that no one was supposed to notice. (Speaking from personal experience, suicide attempts where the only desire is death versus attempts where you desire death because you feel you can't get what you actually want/need are VERY different.)
For most of the cases I've seen, including mine, it all originates from feeling powerless. Like you are out of options. I'm not here to tell everyone about how "it gets better" etc etc since I know that even though it does, someone who's struggling in such a dark place is highly unlikely to believe that, especially since it's become so cliche. Even now it seems entirely superficial to hear that and doesn't mean anything to me. It doesn't feel like I'm being seen as anything more than a statistic.
HOWEVER, being told to seek professional help is real, effective advice. In order for someone to shine light into that dark place, you need to speak to a caring person as an individual, not some text or yt video on the internet. If you feel like you're an attention whore if you ask for help, what's wrong with that? Be shameless. If you feel like you need attention bad enough to tell someone you feel like dying, then you deserve to ask for what you need.
I'm kind of just rambling at this point, but maybe someone will understand what I'm saying, even if I haven't conveyed it in the best way.
谢谢你
Thanks for saying this.
The "1 chopper, 100 shots" is part of the ongoing narrative of the album. He's about to get into a shootout at that point.
Was scrolling to see if anyone said something. To add further explanation a “chopper” is usually an AK. So he’s saying I have an AK with 100 rounds of ammo
I love how he makes alcohol sound like a person in the verse I can see the love in her eyes, I can feel the vibe. It always seemed weird to me that we give these substances woman's names, mary jane, snow white, but it also seem men are more like to become addicted then men. Just my opinion, would love to hear from the experts.
I never did notice they have female names.
Bloody Mary, Dirty Shirley
6:29 the camera does quick cuts to the girl when he says “love in her eyes” and “vodka” i think he is symbolizing the girl (maybe lust) as alcohol
@@chimpwimp9407 the smex is addictive as is alcohol.
He looks so happy to just be involved 💀😭
him saying "y'all"
He seems like a very nice person
@@Rome1212ec😂😂😂
In the title of the album this song is from “Good Kid m.A.A.d city” the way m.A.A.d is spelt with two As with periods separating them is a shout out to AA :)
TIL.
Love this song, but I would definitely recommend listening to the album version of this in your own time cause the last verse is good 👍🏾 and the skit goes along with the whole story for the album (which I also recommend listening to fully at some point)
I believe that would complete what Tom referred to about the shots and such as well
Yeah, its also amazing how it is connected with Sing About Me
Mans out here vibing
He sure is. I love it and I’m from the golden age of hip-hop. I was around when it started so I love it and I love his analysis intellectually. I am from the Bronx.
Man, the more I look through your channel the more songs are given closure so I can understand the meaning, a lot of these songs are my depression songs, so for you to react to them and give real feedback makes me love the channel more and more, you're real, Nick is real, and if I can't afford to buy a membership just know I'll always be watching and a 'member' of Reaction Therapy, I have been watching y'all for only a week and I became a member last week and I have been on RUclips for 8 years and you are the first I have become a member to, so without further Ado, Keep it up y'all.
Active but finally got of clinic! Baby STEPS! 10 years ago, I almost died and a year after my mother died. It was of alcohol pancreatitis, and they had to shit me off to another hospital, called my father, and he never showed up. They said we’ve never seen a case like this her liver is so huge we don’t know how it’s fitting in her her pancreas is so huge we don’t know if she’s going to survive. I just remembered Looking up at the EKG monitor and it was like a flat line and it was just a little beep once in a while and I throw up and it was in a bucket at the hospital emergency room and the nurse says you are a very very sick woman I said really I’m looking at myself I almost die any minute and I started laughing because I knew at that moment I had just saved my life! Because I had looked in the mirror and it wasn’t me. It was something that wanted to kill me. It was really weird and I said no and I jumped. It was a snow storm. I jumped into the road and I asked anyone please drive in the ER I said I am dying and they did and That was that they were really good to me. I couldn’t eat they had the tube down my throat and they gave me plenty of pain meds but oh my God they didn’t work. Oh God the agony nobody knows how important the pancreas is. Oh God, I don’t know why is legal but They’re getting the kids. They always well with the music they get in the kids I want my son all the time his father I am in addition is like I said you can do anything in your life except for one thing you can I can’t stress this to you enough. You might like the feeling of drinking or other things and there’s always two out of 10 people that are the ones who do not stop and I was one of them. It’s horrible you look back and you’re like oh my God how? So I Potomac therapist the only reason why I stopped is really because of my son. He deserves more and God loves me doesn’t want me to hurt myself anymore.
Loved the reaction! Keep it up! Staying on the addiction side of things I think you should definitely listen to “Once an Addict by J. Cole”
Thank you!!!!!!!😊😊😊
The whole KOD album has 0 skips

You gave me chills bro I just subscribed
This is when reaction videos can be truly awesome. It's hard for all of us to imagine hearing this song for the first time today; but seeing your pure reaction to the lyrics and all the different sounds takes me right back to being 15 again when my friend showed me Kung Fu Kenny.
Recent sub, here to stay💯
I’m addicted to lean and have many friends addicted to similar, it just ruins your life in every way possible worst is you know it but just can’t do anything. I use because of depression and anxiety and the loss of a friend, know one truly understands and even getting help is hard with how they view it and view you, I vent on here to show people there’s people feeling the same I just hope I don’t kill myself before I can overcome this disgusting world destroying drug
I am an addict and I’m not gonna tell you what I do or how I do it. But I did quit drinking. Here’s the story by was listening to this 10 years ago and I didn’t even understand he was saying that there was a problem. I thought he was just glamorizing it and I was like yeah I’ll be sit at my computer and the boyfriend would come in because he wanted me to go into the bed and look down at the Gatorade bottle and just, you know the look… And I’m like I haven’t even started yet and you’re gonna give me that I said before we moved in you were the one that was buying me pint after Paint after pine after pint and then it’s a problem? It’s a problem because I’m not gonna go into that bad right when you say? So it would get me more and more upset and then I would drink more and more and more and it turned into a nightmare because it would be me on Ridellan, and it would be like a three day Binge, and then weakness, and the Gatorade was like when you hear about Jesus asking for a little bit of sip of water drop of water and they won’t give it to them my God I just stopped and I stopped after I quit those meds I almost died of pancreatitis twice After my mom died suddenly. I kept trying to tell people that I might be like this right now but I’ll remember how you treated me because I was aware because of the Ridellan not spelling it right it wouldn’t necessarily become a really drunk and slurred word type situation at all and I know that it wasn’t right to be beaten up just because he wanted sex and I would be a complete mess and I feel like looking back he might as well have been kicking and beating somebody that had a low IQ naturally. Mental impairment. He would also be mad about me smoking cigarettes and it’s funny because before I moved in with him now this is for years, I knew him I could do no wrong and then I find out that he bailed someone out of jail. That was 15 years younger than me never knew that he cheated on me because he was always up my butt. Even if I went out to go drive to the store to get a pack of cigarettes back then and I guess what I’m 46 now I don’t drink that All smoke don’t do shit anymore you know why? I grew up but I’m always susceptible. I am really am I always will be. I forget about it the last time and it was just the most enlightening moment because it wasn’t about what everybody else thought it was about me thinking about how I am better and God loves me and doesn’t want me to drink that poison. It was cheap vodka and this guy made big money, carpenters union. He was sitting there, cheating, paying another girls rent. Meanwhile, this girl was in is still a lesbian. She was just addicted to drugs, but alcohol really makes a man or a woman weaker people don’t treat you seriously, it’s terrible. It’s like the animal kingdom. They treat you like you a prey. And they like it that way because it makes the low self-esteem feel better so after I quit, I’m like what the hell can you complain about now and they would always be something so then he ended up getting his retirement fund and ended up gambling $250,000 in a year without me knowing I spent almost 2 decades with this nightmare, you know? Everyone to get out get out get out I was in school the whole time even if I drink and I’m still in school and I’m old but I tell the truth about it I really honestly believe it’s worse than opiates because look at how many deaths and violence and just insanity I mean, I’m telling you I would didn’t I just if I got over the limit like in my head I just didn’t care because he would be constantly chasing me around as if he cared, but it was all about control because he was cheating on me with prostitutes all that time Like well why didn’t you take care of them? A whole boy I did even with urinary tract infections every single freaking day because I was so worried that he would cheat on me so it doesn’t matter if someone’s going to cheat on you they really don’t feel any guilt until you catch them, and then they act like they regret it but then once the one time you’re gone, if you leave, they go right back to that person and pay them, so anything that they say to insult you in regards to drinking or anything any drug remember that if they’re controlling your every move they’re treating someone else like a queen that does the same exact thing or worse and in that case it was worse. I mean here I am drunk and say I even met her family and I gave her a Thanksgiving turkey the way I used to give you a Thanksgiving turkey and I bought them pizzas the way we had pizza with your father and it was just fucking amazing how much he loved hurting me hurting not her yes he so you’re very successful. Susceptible to getting hurt when you drink because people don’t think you’ll remember and I remember every freaking thing it hurts your soul and it’s really One Way out. You have to quit drinking. Get yourself some benzodiazepines if you don’t wanna go to detox somehow you’ll be so grateful.
Taper down homie, little bit less and less everyday or even every couple days if you need
The funny part about this song is that they playing it on partys but little they know he's talking about he's addiction with alcohol
Hey if you see this I want to thank u for posting this type of content because I was at the edge until I found u and now I want to go to school to become a therapist like u you’ve gave me so much confident to keep on hanging on basically I just want to thank you for giving me the power to keep on moving
I just found your channel (I'm a grad student getting a master's degree in Counseling and Human Development). I LOVE your channel!❤❤❤
This is a well known OG Kendrick Lamar track. Brings back so many memories. Some good, some unfavorable. We used to vibe out to this song a lot in college though. Thanks for the reaction Tom!
BET!!! NO CAP WAS SINGING DIS AND YALL FINNA MAKE MY DAY WIT DIS
Thanks roach clip!😊👍
This entire album good kid, Maad city is a novel talking about growing up in Compton and having to struggle to survive and being good at heart but living in a crazy city. On sing about me, I’m dying of thirst he has a pivotal moment where he grows up internally and is tired of everything.
My conscious does talk to me when I’m coming off cocaine but then I talk to my self and say one more line baby it won’t hurt 😞
The extended version goes on to talk about the consequences of being a bad influence and falling for bad influences.
This song is such a classic
I'm happy I came across this channel. Wholesome content
Loved this reaction❤️ Love Kendrick Lamar can’t wait to see more
One of the best songs to react to. Can you react to auntie diaries and mother I sober by Kendrick Lamar
I was little when i first heard this I loved the song and now I’m 20 and know the meaning it’s legendary
Great reaction, btw, there is an extended version with an interlude and extra verse, gives even more debt to the song.
Your inner sub-conscious demanding you think about that next shot before you go off the deep end.
The shot of “no return”!
This song is everything
You definitely need to listen to the entire album. The story he tells is immaculate
I’m so glad he made a video on this
Loved watching you absolutely jam out😂
Love the analysis, Kendrick's genius is delivering stalwart lyricism with kicking beats
I love this analysis
Kendrick has ADHD like myself and this song is about self medicating and the problems it cause’s
No it’s about him being peer pressured into drinking and overcoming it
That a semiautomatic gun is equally as deadly as an alcoholic taking one shot…
…or that one shot to an alcoholic can lead you to make a decision you can’t overturn.
I love hearing your take on my favorite Kendrick songs. I’d love to hear what you think about “we cry together” I think it would be a really interesting one to hear you talk about
Wow you blew my mind when you said when your raised around it pases down to your kids my step father was on coke a lot now I’m a user as well I don’t want my kids going through this it broke my heart
I’m so sorry. My father was an alcoholic and I would have given anything for him to quit drinking and be a dad. I’m middle aged now and it still hurts.
i believe in you. please don't give up. you deserve to live and to be happy and to have control of your life
The extended version even better
I like how the lyrics are discernable, not too common these days.
The two most important thing to know getting clean from drugs. First is you have to want it for yourself. If you dont want it you will not stay clean. Second is relapse is a part of recovery. No matter what anyone says relapse is a part of the process. I've been clean off opiates for 9 years now. I quit cold turkey and was able to stay clean after several relapses. Anyone can do it you just have to want it
Extended version reaction please
Also chopper means ak -47 machine gun
Ask Kendrick to put u on the adlibs u be killin it lowkey
chills
Keep up the good work I love when I get thr notifications for your videos
Overall great reaction again
Thank you Albert!😊👍
Finally kendrick
Sometimes I listen to this song when I’m drunk and feel like I want to cry.
If you like this theme then listen to " Neon Cathedral " by Macklemore.
In that song he compared a bar with a Cathedral and shows how alcoholism can almost become religious . The lyrics and message is really good.
My goodness this song is a big vibe, instrumental goes stupid on this
“why you babysitting only 2 or 3 shots” i hate that cause that’s what made my family members addiction worse cause he would be like “yeah your right this 1 drink is nothing i’m a grown man i’ll get another one”
Lucky to be this early loved this song as a kid
Thank you
As a twice a week LiK I’ve learned to control but barely. This is one fav realizations of my our
You HAVE to react to Mother I Sober and Auntie Diaries from his new album
Gtfo Out with that Trash album
You should do savior by kendrick and baby keem
I used to be with it , until they changed what it is, now what it is is scary- Simpsons.
Hope I can still appreciate new music like this man one day .
The one saying, "imma show you how to turn it up a notch" and the girls wanna play baywatch: ppl who dont gaf about you. Only person who does is you
Always listen and repeat the part when the voice "conscience" was loud and later less and the words the conscience was saying❤
There’s an extended version with an additional verse 🙏🏻
You left out the last part. It’s a doozy for analyzing
I’ll play this with Kendrick 7/18/23 in Milwaukee!
I’m seeing him august 11th NY I can’t even waittt I’m counting the days
people suggesting these songs are so on point
I know you mostly do rap it seems, but I would love to see your reactions to some Metallica songs... They cover some powerful subjects, since the singer came from a pretty messed up childhood and has suffered from addiction, etc. Really wish to hear your thoughts on the subjects. Fade to Black, Unforgiven, Mama Said, Bleeding Me, Master of Puppets, Sanitarium, all these I think would be right up your alley as a psychotherapist. And I know you'd get lots of new viewers:) Lots of love from Norway!
Yes, master of puppets is definitely describing the hell of drug addiction :(
I wish you would react to "Death Messiah" by Jedi Mind Tricks. It's definitely in the topic of mental health. I really think he'd enjoy it. Much deeper than anything from Suicideboys
Issues by baby keem would be a good track to listen to for this channel, great video!
I LOVE watching your videos of songs I love.
You've been doing such an awesome job breaking down these songs. Can you do Kendrick Lamar - Father time. I really want to hear your perspective on this track.
Tech 9 and young Kendrick. “Fragile”. You’ll love it
This song brings memories of gta 5 for some reason
You have to hear the extended version
Kendrick on another level fr, you should make more with his music
yo tom i needed this yo pull tru

I love watching you react and genuinely enjoy the music. I think you trying to analyze the song while listening to it the first time is a mistake, especially with someone like Kendrick. I've watched a few of your reaction videos for Kendrick and J.Cole songs. I feel like you miss the point and the story sometimes because you're trying to experience the music while trying to translate a language you aren't familiar with while also trying to analyze the artist's story. I'd prefer just seeing you experience and just enjoying the music the first time around and then maybe a follow up video analyzing it after you had some time to listen a few more times. Some of this music, especially Kendrick's, can only really be understood after multiple listens. I wish you continued success. I also hope you get to experience these songs on your own because they truly are magnificent.
Can you react to xxxtentacion - wingriddenangel
your inner voice is powerfull
check out the cover, gia medley-swimming pools
