    I am currently marinating a porterhouse overnight. I will have to try this technique tomorrow. I’m so glad I found this video. I made a porterhouse tonight for my dad and I to share. I bought two large porterhouse steaks for $28 today. I made it entirely on a stove top, in a cast iron pan. I seared each side using olive oil, then basted the steak with butter. I think I did something wrong though, as some parts of the steak were well-done, other parts were medium-rare, and others were medium. It was still a tasty tender steak, but I wanted to cook it more evenly. Maybe using your technique will help with this.

    Thank you for sharing! I tried this tonight when I couldn't use my grill and enjoyed a VERY juicy and tasty steak! I cooked in the oven for 10 minutes (vs. 8) to get a medium-well steak. I also cheated and only let it rest for about 6 minutes, but it was STILL very juicy!

    The carnivore in me has fallen in love. So delicious. I would order mine "not pre-sliced" though. IMO cutting as you go is part of the joy of steak-eating. Keeps it hot and juicy to the last bite. Scrumptious.

    3 mins 1st side, 1-2 mins 2nd side, reverse back and sear 2 more mins on the 3 min side.
    Butter an oven plate and lay steak in a 450 degree oven for 8 mins.
    Take out of oven - let set for 10 mins before cutting. Got it! Thank you 🙏 & Merry Christmas 🎄 2020~

    • @nihilsin3deo
      @nihilsin3deo 3 года назад +6

      I think she meant to put the steak in the oven right after searing on the second side. So no reversing back to the first side.

    • @ottosuga1145
      @ottosuga1145 2 года назад

      @@nihilsin3deo Also you don't have to speculate. It is visible on the video which side she is taking off last. The bone side looks towards the camera when she flips it first time. And when she takes it off the bone side still looks at the camera.. Which means she didn't cook it on 3 sides. Only 2 sides.

    This is a great way to cook any kind of steak. The video is well done and for those of you who think otherwise regarding the doneness, that's a matter of taste. Leave it in the oven longer if you want it more done. I do have one complaint, I don't think she should be wearing that huge ring with all the nooks and crannies when she is handling food.

      Not just a tenderloin but a bigger tenderloin to NY strip steak ratio is a porterhouse.

      Some of y’all don’t know what a porterhouse steak is....it’s the first couple of steaks off the shortloin. The meat on this “t-bone” looks good but that’s basically a bone in strip steak. Non porterhouse t bones have tenderloin on it too.
