Thank you for not trying to convince viewers that the steak is medium rare like other channels wound. Looks like a good method, need to give it a try 👍
Must say, just cooked these tonight after watching your video. Tweaked it by doing 4min45sec and flipping for 1min30, it was quite honestly the best steak I’ve ever done. Would likely drop it one rack lower next time, a few of those oil splashes started sparking by the broiler. But otherwise, cannot recommend enough. Thank you!
thats great but you should try it in the cast iron, itll be much better than this method. of course if you dont have a stove then i understand that this method can be quite useful.
Many thanks! I just tried your method and it worked fine! Previously, I had been using my cast iron skillet cooking up top first then baking it in the oven. Also tasted good, but it also produced a lot of smoke! Your method is safer!
I never comment on any RUclips videos and I’m actually using my boyfriends acct for the no ads lol but this method is so easy to follow! The cook was perfect. I was unable to get it closer to the heating element so instead of flipping it for just the 1 minute, I left it for 2. It was so good and delicious! Best steak I have made so far. Definitely the way to go!
Very nice! We live in Singapore and have a small microwave oven with "grill" broiler function. I use this same method to cook USDA and Australian steaks for my wife here. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do!
My mother made excellent steaks back in the early 70's with a Broil King Broiler. OMG...sooo good. And if I remember correctly, we all loved it med-rare. Oh, that same appliance also could rotisserie chicken. Sad they don't make them anymore.
If it's nasty and cold out, I do steaks in the oven in a cast iron skillet. Cooking on stovetop makes a mess with the splatter and broiling is no mess. The crust is really nice. Now i know how to prevent the curling! Thanks.
if you're broiling with a previously used aluminum foil, or a tray, that has previously collected old tallow, fat or oil, there's a good chance that old pile of oil will catch fire. if you're using a fresh tray without old oil, it's less likely the splattered, new oil will catch fire. please tell me i'm wrong & that you didn't have old oil on the tray when this fire occurred. i'm genuinely curious
I have a question so my oven broiler heating source is not like that it's gas flame can I still use your technique? But my air fryer has that heating source, hopefully you understand my question: ) thank you
I just did this in a rich person's oven, and well... The oven was smart and wouldn't even boil with an open door. So, I had that problem. Then the oil was causing little flames and scared the crude out of me (I didn't want to burn this expensive house down). So then I put it in this pan that has a cover and the oven stopped sparking. I didn't flip it though and well... I ended up with the best ribeye steak I've ever cooked. It was restaurant style kind of good.
I would like to see it done without the Oil. I've been doing that with nonstick Pans lately. Less Mess, less Smoke, and it browns up the Steak nicely. At least without the Oil to begin and then lower it to the bottom Shelf w/basting maybe? Can't wait to try myself.
Yeah…I have a faulty smoke alarm. I can’t just leave my broiler running with the door open. Grease from the steak hits the broiler congrats on your fire. I’ll just stick to a pan or go out
Fair warning, I accidentally touched the broiler while taking the steak out. The oven mitt immediately burnt through and I had a 3rd degree burn within a second
@@philippacrowe8499 you don't need to be rude. ive had tried many ways. it's only recently that my steaks have finally started turning out the way i wanted them too and it certainly wasn't because of this particular video.
@@shortstack58 I wasn't meaning to be rude and has taken me just over 20yrs to get steak right probs 7 out of 10 times I cook it! Sometimes it's healthy to have a giggle at oneself
@ depends on what cut. If you marinade in half a kiwi fruit or pear for a couple of hours, even more cost effective cuts will be tender slightly different texture tho' as the fruit breaks down the proteins that tighten up and make it tough. Smother in oil, salt and whatever you like then smoking hot stainless or cast iron pan and turn when it's released itself from pan then cover with some butter etc and pop into the oven for a little while then remove and rest I found works best
Yesterday I had a steak from Longhorn that had no sear and seemed like it was cooked at 170 until well done.. wtf ... This is why I just cook my own steaks
Good tips but I think I’ll lower my steak as it’s not as thick as yours and I don’t want a fire … 🔥 I’m 70yrs old …& I’ll try with a cool pan not heated bcuz I know I’ll BURN it and then I’ll be upset.. I’d rather have my steak UNDER COOKED THAN OVER COOKED
Dont use this method! Not necessary! Put your steak in oven around 365 flip after 10 min cook for another 5 min. Then turn on broiler at the end. This ensures min amount of smoke in your home! Make sure to turn off broiler as soon as you take out steak or youll be airing out yor house with doors and windows open for 5 hours!!

Thanks for taking the time to leave this comment. We strive for authenticity on this channel!
You posted a method like this a few years ago, minus the cast iron and I used that during the winter to cook steaks and yeah, it worked like a charm.
You are awesome 👏

Yep, gotta work with what we got to turn up the tasty!
I will try this today with bacon grease as the fat, and my pizza stone to lift it closer to the burner. Thanks!❤
Let us know how it turns out!
100%bacon grease

This is so easy! Thanks for showing us, Joey!
Thanks for the feedback 🙌
Thank you Sir. For showing us the real results vs other who will cook another stakes just to get it right!
Awesome vid.
Appreciate the nice feedback 🤘

Although there is spatter onto the heating element
Easier to clean a stove than an oven
Looks easy and delicious. I hate preparing the grill so I will try this method. Thanks for the video.
Thx and hope it turns out great 🙌
After going thru the comments I’ve decided to just go out on the deck and use the Weber
Excellent tips, going to try this tonight!
Thank you for the simple directions. Trying it now!!
that medium looks GREAT!!
The fat from the steak splatters, hits the broiler coils, and causes a fire. Been there, done that, so has the fire department
Lol yessir

Sounds like a grease fire.
@@johnnywalker4857 - you said what i was trying to say in 5 words. i gotta learn how to do that
Lol
Thank you for showing how to cut fat to prevent curling 👍
- I didn't know about leaving broiler open. Is that for all broilers or only certain ovens?
I might have to try it this way, does it leave a mess in the oven?
Camera focus seemed a bit off this video. Thanks for the instructions!
Great video, I’ll give it a try
I’m going to try your method! God, I’m hungry now 😋
Let us know how it turns out for you!
i could not get it as close to the broiler as he said too, so i cooked it a little longer and it turned out great. Does get smoky for sure tho lol
I like that crust! Need to sear on stove then finish in oven
Here in South Africa we "braai" our steaks. Awesome video!
Thx for the nice comment 🕺
Great idea👍👍👍

I want to cook steaks but i dont like having to vent my house plus cleaning cast iron sucks.
Pre heating the pan was a no bueno. I want the broiler to sear the steak not the pan to heat my meat.
Awesome video steak looks great!!
Thank you, the steak turned out great!

6 minutes in the making, 6 days in ventilating the house 😇 Steak looks perfect, BTW.
Appreciate the video and tips, but I have a gas stove and my broiler is at the bottom of my stove. The fire is not concentrated in one spot either.
I will try your way this weekend ! Wish me luck ;)

Thank you 💕
Air fryers work pretty good.
I usually prefer medium rare, but medium like that is also good for some fattier cuts.
Excellent
Looks a good medium rare i like my steak medium well but great job
How thick is your steak please .. thanks
Thank you for this! 🙏👌👍🎉🎊💐
I put my steak about one inch away. BIG MISTAKE!!!!!!! FLARE UPS ARE NO JOKE!!!!!!! 😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 u live u learn bro
Why did he say to do that then? Now idk what to do.
@@langinable u must not have a brain then Id iot
@langinable buy an Anova sous vide machine. You'll never have to worry about flare ups.
Also the smoke would set off fire alarms all through the house.
Brilliant !
Thank you
Yeah…I have a faulty smoke alarm. I can’t just leave my broiler running with the door open. Grease from the steak hits the broiler congrats on your fire. I’ll just stick to a pan or go out
기가 막히네👍
Thanks sigma!
It 103 degrees and 92% humidity 😮
I have a 3 lb ribeye from a local farmer thawing out in the fridge I will let you know
It's a smoke alarm. Not a fire alarm 😂
My oven automatically shuts off. I tried to open it a little bit.
In the UK, we call that a grill.
The grill is the upper elementa, the lower elements power the oven.
This is also a very effective way to test your smoke alarms.
It's not going to splash all over the oven?
Fair warning, I accidentally touched the broiler while taking the steak out. The oven mitt immediately burnt through and I had a 3rd degree burn within a second
Arwsome
Actually cook my ribbon stakes on the grill I use actual charcoal, no propane at all.
Am I learning to make a steak in the oven or how to set my house on fire?
I don't cook steak because I don't know how to cook steak..every time ive tried it either comes out burnt or too tough to eat.
Don't cook it for so long then! 🤣

All you put on that thing was some salt? You need to add some more seasoning to that thing.
In short : 45 minutes with 420F, flip it then another 45 minutes.
No
And you have a leather flip flop… 😂
