    I have to be careful not to binge all your videos in one day!! Really enjoying your work, I mentioned in a previous videos comment that I was wanting to draw again after years of being away from it and you inspired me to do it. Got off work today and drew a hideous monstrosity all thanks to you, first time in years I've done that and I had a lot of fun, then to sit and watch this it just made for a great evening. Thank you

    Love this. You're like the twisted Bob Ross of graphite. You make it look soooo easy. Just like Bob could drop in a tree or a mountain, you (Bobby) just drop in a tenticle, or some gnarly teeth, or a matted clump hair. So much fun to watch, and such an inspiration.

    I'd love to see a tour of your "bad" sketches. Just out of my insatiable curiosity. Personally, I have a "dragabout" sketchbook where I "play" and learn, then one I keep for "good" work where I spend the time to do things "right" and pay attention to details.

    • @bobbyrebholz2183
      @bobbyrebholz2183  4 месяца назад +2

      Well, that's the misconception artists have with their work. There are no bad sketches when it comes to learning. The only thing that could possibly be "bad" is a finalized illustration you turn in for a grade at school.

      @@bobbyrebholz2183 That's true. I drew lifelike drawings that looked so real you felt like reaching out and touching the people/animals in them. The professor failed me. He was an abstract artist who thought everything had to be abstract or it wasn't art. Didn't pick my pencils up for a good 20 years after that. Now, I don't give a flying fig what people think.

    Could you do a video on how to achieve atmospheric pressure/depth of field digitally (in pencil style) and if you could give advice on how to shake off the 3d model feel from the drawing. I did your advice of applying the foundational color and then applying light/dark tones on different areas, it ended up looking like a blender 3d model. I don't know how to go from there to achieve something like this.
    It'd be very cool if you could do a video trying to achieve drawing similar in style to this one digitally.
    Thanks in advance, your videos helped a lot already!

I've seen some of your Ecor-117, really loved land surveyors perspectives and such, would be cool if you showed the process doing a piece like that. Great stuff!

    Just awesome, I love Lovecraft/Cthulhu themed art as you can tell if you glance at my RUclips channel. This caught my eye immediately and I was hooked in straight away watching and listening to your thoughts on drawing techniques. I used to do a lot of pencil portraits many years ago although I work mostly 3D and computer these days. This video inspired me to get my sketchbook back out and start doodling. Never used black coloured pencil and graphite so had to give it a go.

    Once again, just so very cool. You asked what problems we have…here is another one “Artist Block” , like writers block. I start a sketch and not sure what to do or where to go, I know I want to draw something, so a lot of times they just turn into practice shading or values, or line weight, etc. Any advice? Again TY so much for what you do, it means a lot to me. I look forward to seeing your work.

    Im 30 and i always liked drawing but never been amazing at it. Im hoping to get to at least a decent level. Because i have really good ideas and am very creative on that end. If i could draw remotely accurate what i see in my head, i would have a lot of fun.
    But it takes so long, to draw while looking at something it takes me so long,so much erasing just to get the proportions decent. I can draw tf out of an eye, i just can't do 2 eyes that match

      If you tell yourself you can't do something... then you'll be right, you won't be able to do it. This is a skill that can be learned... not a talent. Talent is earned, not given. If however, you tell yourself you CAN draw two eyes the same... then you will. Because.... you'll put the effort in to do it.

    For me it is creatures that form from nothing. Good example, in my humble opinion, was the creature from Dr. Morpheus (Another archetype for Dream, or the subconscious) the beast from The Id in Forbidden Planet. I Believe Disney artists had a hand in bringing that to life at the time. Another is the Space 1999 episode Dragon's Domain the creature in that lived in derilict ships, when it got you it spat you back out as a dessicated smouldering corpse. Scared the crap out of me as a kid in the 70's. Things that are forgotten about in the light. Compared to today the effects are primitive, but it was what you can't see that makes them scarier.
