Ian Neha Vlogs lol been listening to Ariana Grande for the past 2 days and so I was looking up how to sing faster bc of Madison beer and how to sing runs and sing higher
You're a really underrated teacher because you're very good! Every video on runs I've seen has either never broken it down like this or they didn't explain it well enough. But this helped me a lot so thank you!
i didn't even realize I had done a run until after your tutorial!!! You made it so easy! Now I understand why I couldn't do a run before; I wasn't aware of each note and would randomly just trying doing one without thinking
My problem is it still sounds sloppy, the notes aren't as dissociated as I wish they were. Do I just keep practicing because that's my problem for every run. Like Christina Aguilera (sorry for the very obvious reference) does runs where every note is so tong and so incredibly spot on dissociated from the others that you hear them all perfectly and yet so fast. Can you get that type of dissociation from your practice video if we do it every day? Thks!
+axelle32 I'm no vocal coach. I'm not even that good a vocalist to be perfectly honest, but on every other instrument I've learned the key to playing clean and fast is to start out slow. Just do it slowly, as slow as it possibly takes to make the transition sound nice, and try not to get there too fast. I can imagine experimenting with compression is also useful to really get that "choppier" sound. Most important thing to remember is that it does take time, unfortunately it won't happen over a week or so. Playing and singing is, after all, a lifelong practise and you will always get better just as long as you keep it up, and stick to your own voice. And vocal exercises are very good (I just happen to be very bad at doing them), but I find it very useful to try and incorporate the exercises into songs. Just sit around playing and singing and maybe noodle in some vocal run in a few places, just for practise. That's the most fun way to do it, but hardly the most efficient.
keeping the notes together and doing the runs is harder than stacatto runs, legato runs are difficult. ex. mariah carey and her operatic trills and legato runs
Tried this aloud once and already noticed a difference! I have played violin for about 24 years, and I'd say runs with your voice is like practicing sixteenth runs on an instrument, only I never thought of it that way before. Great video!
These vocal lessons are my favorite ones! :D I may not be able to play instruments but singing is something I can actually enjoy! :) Thanks a lot, Saher!
Oh my god i been practicing this for like 3 weeks and I just did a run. Oh my god. I cant imagine how amazing it would sound in half a year or even several years! Thank you!
I just watch his videos because he has the most calming voice I have ever heard. If I was rich I would pay this guy to read all my medical textbooks to me. lol
This was awesome! Loved the idea of starting with the last notes and then adding the rest step by step. Thank you for this super helpful and inspiring video!
I've watched a LOT of vocal tutorial vids, and I can honestly say this one is the only one that has not only instantly improved my vocal ability, but the way the info is broke down also just made it really simple. Thank you very much for this!
Thank you for this! Most people feel that it's harder to do ascending runs but that's not my case. I suck with descending because my lower register is kinda weak and most tutorials focus on ascending.
I think it's because everyone tries to explain it in their own way. But to actually see if visually definitely makes more connections with the brain therefore having more success in doing these runs. Seeing it visually definitely makes it easier on the brain .
Thank god, I have been dying for someone to break it down for those of us who need a thorough well detailed explanation and are not veteran musicians and singers.. Just he way you discuss music is easy to digest and comprehend. Thank you for this. I will be watching more.
Way to go! this gotta be one of the best tutorials out there, and you seem very experienced at teaching, I don't think I have seen anyone demonstrate runs the way you just did, I liked the stairs example and how you use midi/piano, really creative..this needs more views To all those out there trying to riff, even if you think you fail at it and can't do it at all "Trust me, you can" it just takes practice, it's like a new workout for your muscle (vocal cords) some have more agility and are faster naturally and thus learn faster, but even if you're on the slow side, if you're determined and consistent on the training you'll will reach a point where you can execute some beautiful and innovative riffs and be proud of yourself *In this exercise go step by step, when you reach a point of it starting to get fast for you pause the video and slightly rewind a bit before and start over, keep repeating until it becomes easier also check out Natalie Weiss's "Breaking down the riffs" (#BTDR) she's really good
She is really good, and those excersises are extremely useful, I'm sure, but... they are too difficult for me. That's why searching for smt simpler to start with. And this one is good, just wish there were more. But even here my notes are not as dissociated as I wish they were, when i speed it up...
Valuable content. It seemed arduous to cut to the details of every note. But guys It's worth devoting your time to!! It's almost like learning the scales subconsciously. Once you know what scale it is and you know the notes, You can run like a guitarist solos. Thank you Saher!!
I agree even though no one knows this ! And no one has heard from me in years I am one of the best singers and Elvis imitators in the world and what he is teaching here learning the scales helps for you to be the best that you can but the kind of voices you have thank you
First of all WOW !! and thank-you> I just subscribed SAHER GALT to your channel! You are quite talented at breaking down runs and explain them in full details. I have been teaching vocals for many years and quite good at it . This video made me have HA HA Moments throughout this whole tutorial Thank-so much for your knowledge and ease you get to the point of signing precisely the correct pitch and patterns on "vocal runs" . My students will thank you as well >>> They are quite gifted vocalists... :)
Ok but how do singers build runs in the moment, like in a live concert? How do they know what notes to hit? Are you saying that every run we hear singers do is first broken down in this way.. ?
Very nice! I have a question. Can this be applied to any kind of run. Grab a blues scale for example. Going from the tritone to the root. Would this technique work for it?
WOW! very helpful! i have a question pleaaase answer.. why is it when im using falsetto its MUCH easier for me to do runs but using my regular one its so hard.. :(
because light voices have greater vocal agility. I am a male baritone I can go from C2 to A6 a large vocal range but the range that I can make runs properly must be from C3-C6... normally tenor and sopranos have the greatest vocla agility because of their high light voices. so when you go into your falsetto you are using a smaller and lighter part of your vocal folds allowing greater agility
I hit every single notes but its just the transition from note to another note. Like its not separated and it sounds connected, if u know what I mean. It doesnt sound like a run/riff. Its sounding more like a curve
I did it and got chills, I didn't know I was capable of this omg
Awesome! ~

Good evening
My question is, is it wrong that we sing it in the same tonality?
We develop the mobility of the larynx?
Thanks for any answer!
